Scottiee, I am with you, not bragging either - I really can't afford to lose anymore weight. But I have managed to hold it steady for several weeks. So yeah, it can go either way though I never imagined being unhappy at weight loss! Can't wait for December to be over - dark and gloom and read yesterday that Vancouver has only had 5 hour of clear weather in 506 hours and some of those were at night!

My whining over for the day.

Marian, I grew up in Glasgow, Scotland so I know exactly what you are referring to. I also never thought I would complain about weight loss, but as you know, when dealing with C, losing weight can make your head go to dark places.

My whole focus for next year is shifting towards losing weight, so WW sounds great to me. We should all send our cookies and chocolate over to Scottiee.....

WW works so well.  I lost 48 pounds on it before diagnosis.  I need the accountability and still log my food every day.  Excercise is the key.

Hi Joanne, I live just a bit south of Albany, so about 3 hours south of Montreal. Where is Hamilton? I could stop by on the way to bring Scottiee the cookies... Believe it or not, after all our talk of good intentions, I have to make a cheesecake and a stollen for New Years celebration with family. That and I have 3 friends coming over for our annual Cranberry Cordial and dvd day. I also will stop walking through the dessert minefield as of New Years Day :)

Belinda, 48 lbs is an inspiring number for all of us!

You gals are the best here......in an ideal world, we would all be living within coffee and cake drop in areas, which would nicely take care of my weight and my social life.....lol

Ok I'm a bit further, 4 hours, but I fucking love me some cheesecake!! Oh wait... I'm counting calories now and that would be. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. My DH just left to pick up my new treadmill from Sears with a friend who has a truck. (They wanted $125 to deliver it! What what?!)

Anyway, I'll be walking and watching TV for now on. No walking; no TV. Nothing that would break a sweat right now, but just constant motion.

I was just told on another thread that the Gabepentin that has removed almost all my hot flashes can cause serious weight gain. Up to a lb a week. SHIT! FUCK! SHIT!!! Oh well, I can't live with the flashes so I guess I'll be walking A LOT!

Tazzy; love your idea, but isn't weight loss/gain, fear or recurrence and follow up exams stress all part of being a survivor? What will we talk about here if not or post treatment struggles to keep this bitch from coming back? My MO says maintaining a healthy weight is a huge part of that. Either way... Tazzy I'll follow you anywhere. 💋

P.S.: I just got a book the MSW who facilitated the woman's cancer group I attended a few weeks ago suggested. It's called Dancing in Limbo; Making Sense of Life After Cancer. It's from 1995 so I mail ordered it but I'm getting a lot out of it.

    Juneaubugg,

I hear your concern about weight gain but most meds have that side effect ... But in some cases it works the other way. I have gained on tamoxifen but I truly believe that is only because I have allowed bad behaviours. Good luck with your weight loss ...

juneau: you make some good points (as always) about our chats here.   So save us being on another thread we will log here.   I am happy to keep an updated weekly list of our losses/gains.  If you like you can pm me on a Sunday and I can collate and will post on this thread on the Monday.... what say you ?

This time only - I will post on Jan 2 as I think we all deserve to indulge any way we can on NYE.  I will make any excuse to eat/drink Wink  So feel free to send my your info.

I am hoping that when I return to work on Jan 7 it will be easier to eat more healthy - very easy when you are at home to snack on cookies and the like.

Marian & Scottie:   All cookies, cheesecakes, chocolate etc. making their way to you... I suppose.

Juneau you just want Tazzy to keep the weight loss thingy here so you can guilt trip me into joining in on the misery of trying to lose weight instead of bingeing on cookies, cupcakes, chicken wings and beer like I'm doing! What the heck! lol

2fried- ha! I'm binging on everything right now. I'm currently on antibiotics and steroids for pharyngitis and bronchitis. So I'm eating everything right now. However I am NOT craving sweets except my coke. But I do want food ALL the time. I wake up I eat, I clean a bit I eat. Lol I can't wait to lose weight. Good luck to everyone!

The damn (wonderful) tamoxifen has caused me to add a few pounds on.  Exercise every day (run at least 30 minutes) and log what I eat.  So frustrating.  Back to my points on WW for losing weight.  I know I can do it.  Just frustrating that the meds do this.  It's a small price to pay to be a survivor.  When I couldn't excercise due to complications after my surgery ...gained nothing.  Start Tamoxifen and it starts.
