Mcook.......just what you didn't need.......I'm sure it's nothing, but it's good to have it checked. Will send good vibes in Jan when you are having your scan.❤

2fried, funny, but I have often thought of side effects as "side dishes" myself. Maybe we just need a better menu to choose from. Through the year, the stuff just came up and you coped day to day and just went on. I kept a list going on my pocket calendar and didn't believe it when I looked back this morning. Cripes, when you look back you can really see why you weren't in the greatest mood all the time. I am so ready for a different "restaurant" next year. I hope you will join me. I suggest we stick with cocktails and dessert.
Websister, I didnt even know it was legal to have spinach before noon:)0 -
I believe it isn't legal here in Canada.....lol

Hello ladies,
I am on the fence regarding the weigh-ins because although I need and want to lose weight my Diep is scheduled for April and I'd like to be able to have D cups, as I was a DD prior. I have already lost the 30 lbs that I gained during chemo earlier this year and my PS wants me to continue losing for my "global health" as he calls it. However, I was honest and told him that as a single 35 y.o. my self esteem has been lowered with the bmx and complete hair loss so getting at least close to my desired breast size is very important at this point. (I am a counselor and ppl expect me to feel like "I am not my breasts" but although I know this i also know first hand what cancer does to how you see yourself) He FINALLY relented and agreed to have me back in on the 8th to do mock markings and to let me know what size I can potentially have at my current body build. I say all this to say that depending on what he says I may be putting off any further weight loss until after my initial reconstruction. I will probably send my weight on the 3rd after my appt. with my general m.d. but not sure about future ones just yet. Thanks.0 -
Ladies you have brought me to tears. The love and support that flows here is amazing.
Wishing you all a very happy and healthy new year to you and yours!0 -
Mcook - I also have a lump in my clavicle that, at first, my RO thought might be early signs of spreading. However, now he's not sure what it is. I don't have a frozen shoulder but I have a lump and some pressure feeling at the base of my throat. We're watching it. A CT scan, which he ordered immediately, showed nothing. So let's both hope they're the wonderful anomalies that come with this ridiculous disease.
Blessings on all and a happy new year!0 -
Love the spinach comments -i believe spinach is illegal before noon here in Canada, that's why I've been hiding it in our smoothies. Would you believe it only looks yucky but you can't taste it?
No? Well, guess I'll be drinking alone, hope I don't get caught
Lifeonisside - I will be thinking of and praying for you also re: clavicle0 -
Hi llr010200,
I had immediate DIEP reconstruction at the time of my surgery in August. My PS told me 'there wasn't much to work with' (made me LOL) and that I'd likely end up 1/2 to 2/3 the size I was initially (C cup). That was fine with me since I'm quite athletic. To my surprise, I ended up exactly the same size. So sometimes it's hard to tell. Hope you get what you're looking for!

Want to wish all the great gals here a Happy and Healthy New Year!
And please count me in on the weight loss group. I would love to lose some before I have my squishy swap the end of March.

No pressure here to do anything - if you want to you can, if you dont you don't We all love each other whether skinny, in-between or curvaceous.
I am cooking up a storm in the kitchen at the moment - off to friends for new year and taking 2 appies. A hot crab dip and a pasta salad.
I love spinach
((((hugs)))))

Scottiee, you and I can definitely cheerlead and I am happy to take on all the virtual food on offer, especially the cheesecake. McCook, time for a break for you and let's hope that same as lifeon..'s CT scan which did not show anything. I think for all of that time stands still while we wait - hurry up and wait I have found so often on this journey. I have a repeat CT scan this week to check a lung nodule found on my pre chemo one and will be glad to have it over and done with.
We have ordered in a huge amount of Asian food from a favourite restaurant - both our boys and a girlfriend with us for dinner and I hope for leftovers though that is probably a crazy thought with our boys and my husband!
Happy New Year to you all and getting close for many of you on the east coast.

My kiddos and I had pizza tonight and it's going to be an early bedtime for me. I am working 1/2 a day tomorrow so I can get caught up since today was my first day back since exchange on 12/5 whohoo! We all know hospitals don't shut down, so while my dept is closed I'm taking advantage of being in a quiet office and no one bothering me. Just the way I like it. I hate to be bothered when I'm busy. I hope you all have a safe and Happy new Year's. If you must get out watch out for the "crazy" drivers. much love!

Scottie: LOL! No my DH is a keeper. I started to save some comments but had to stop since I'm at work a d don't want to lose my new job! Here they are;
Websister: I too live your DHs comment re zipping along. Made me LOL.
MCook: love LOVE the new avatar!!!! Will pray about your collarbone.
Everyone else... Happy New Year ladies. So glad to see the love getting tossed around here.
Tball: was good to see you...
I too wonder where JPmom has been. Busy living I suppose. How wonderful!
I got on my treadmill yesterday since I wa Ted to watch fringe and bones. 😉 Craving carbs like crazy and have no internal cutoff switch for full belly yet.
Gabepentin has basically removed my hot flashes and I feel FANTASTIC!! FINALLY!!!! Also, this lack of estrogen thing seems to have pushed me into that "as we get older we need less sleep" category and I'm finding I'm far more productive then ever before in my entire life, and not tired in the morning anymore. Perhaps a DARE I SAY GOOD SE??
Ok, back to work... xxoo ladies.0 -
I've been reading all your uplifting posts and have decided that even though I am not yet done with treatment, I too am a survivor -- every single day. I see the RO next week for my plan and also see the MO -- hopefully with good news. Hair has started to come in on the right side of my head -- baby fuzz -- all white, but that's okay with me. I will also be joining the weight loss group but not until after radiation -- first time in my life I've been told not to lose weight. LOL!

Welcome Pinky-lucky you, not being told to lose weight. I always chuckle with my GP I have been going to him for many years. Not only is he too handsome and gentlemanly to be a doctor, but he tries so hard to be very diplomatic. Went I went to see him last month I was curious what he would say about the fact that I had gained weight. We exchanged pleasantries then he eyeballed my chart. Next words out of his mouth were " I would be remiss not to mention that you gained 5 lb since your last visit." I couldn't help being ornery and saying "oh so you' re telling me I'm getting fat?" He blushed and said "well no but you might want to watch what you eat a little." I told him I do watch every bite as it goes to my mouth. Bless his heart,I love giving him a comeback that I think he perceives as awkward so I can watch him squirm through the conversation. My husband says someday the poor guy will probably fire me as a patient and then I won't like him so much. lol
I too have decided that I will "probably" do the weight thing but not yet. I am going to wait a bit until I feel I would be a little more commited and hopefully pick up some tips from those of you starting tomorrow.
Teeballmom it is nice seeing you on here-it's been a while!
Juneau glad to hear the hotflashes are finally at bay.
I am still battling a lousy cold/infection and had to go get antibiotics. It is definitely playing havoc with getting my holiday decorations put away. (Like I need an excuse to put off doing something I already dislike doing lol)
Take care and again Happy 2013!

Thanks, 2Fried. Your GP sure sounds like a nice guy. Hope your new antibiotics kick the cold/infection. Maybe we should have a contest to see who leaves their Christmas decorations up the longest. I too hate taking them down, as I sit with the tree box and ornament boxes next to the tree waiting to be filled. One year, it was especially hectic at work, a new project, and being salaried, you had to work as many hours as it took to get the job done. Well, I think it was February before the tree finally came down. I was so embarrassed, I turned the tree lights off and closed the blinds so no one could see in. No excuses this year except for being tired. I put the tree up during a steroid high -- ran out of lights after the bottom third but it sure looked "purty" -- at least the bottom third does.

2Fried - I can just imagine you coming back with a comeback like you did with your Doc.
tball: great to hear from you and yes join in our weight program. I do not own scales, like 301724, but do own a Wii - so can weigh myself on that.
Pinky - welcome. Yes we are all survivors. Every day is a blessing for us now.
Juneau: happy the hot flashes have gone.
msphl - glad you joined us. I find it hard to believe that I too am almost a year out from dx and soon returning to work.
Hoping that so far, one day in, 2013 is proving to be a good year for us all.
Love & hugs xxxxxx
