Tazzy - I believe that Ashla on the triple positive thread had prone radiation

Shiane...thinking about your DS and hoping for an easy, uneventful outcome. I'm in Banff right now and DD is doing ok. Had to get her medication dose upped on Monday so she was tired yesterday. A SE that will probably last for two weeks or so. She's a bit stressed as she has a demanding job.
I have a question...I take Tamoxifen with my supplements, all at once. Would it be better to take tamoxifen by itself so it gets a chance to dissolve or will it still do its job dissolving in the mix?
Have a great day ladies. Hugs to all.0 -
Wow! We are a chatty group! Hugs to all!
Yesterday was my final herceptin! My sister and bff came with me and we dressed in pink boas, had pink sparkling cider and celebrated with a decadant lunch. My sister also brought roses, balloons and a cake that said the last one! Plus I went shopping in preparation for our September trip to Bermuda. I tore Kohl's up!
Hope everyone is having a happy day and if you aren't here is a big {{{{{HUG}}}}} for you!

Hello ALL,
Thank you so much for the words of wisdom, the prayers, the reminder that Jesus our Lord is in charge and for just being here for me and everyone. Love U guys!
Went for my second round of mapping today for RADS and found out I was accepted for the 3 week Canadian version (I am participating in a research study) and will get to start on June 5, 2013 - just 1 week from now. I am so happy. It is like they have given me the ultimate birhday gift! Yep, I'll be 52 years old on Friday (May 31st) but I actually think I only look like 42 years old and intend to lie about it as long as I can! Ok, now I will go back to some mindless cleaning and filing of papers. Peace y'all!

Cmbernardi - glad you will be able to do the Canadian protocol for rads. Hope things are improving for you.
Ireland - hope you are able to figure out a solution for yourself employment wise where you love your work and it loves you
Shari - gabapentin is a medication that was originally used to help control seizures but it has been found to also help with neuropathy and it has also proven helpful for hot flashes which can be quite troublesome for some on Tamoxifen.0 -
Luanne - hope all will prove to be OK with your son. It is unusual that an ECG tech would say something like that to someone
Karen - congrats on last Herceptin, quite a milestone! Doing the happy dance for you
Outdamnedspot - hope your daughter adjusts to the medication quickly. You are close - hope the sun came out today in Banff0 -
Thanks! Just me being nosy

Thanks websister...my hubby seems to think ive become very unpredictable since I started tamoxifen.......I still think its because I wont take cr@p anymore! Maybe thats the real side effect!!! Lol .x

Aruba, it sounds like you had a great time in New Orleans!!! I'd love to go there some time, hmmmm.... Future BCO trip?!
Outdamnedspot, thank you
Karen... WOOOHOOOO!!! Congrats sister!!! That's worthy of a shopping trip and decadent lunch if there ever was one!!! I'm getting on the table right now!! I knew there was a reason I just made myself a chocotini. I'm so happy for you :-)
Cmbernardi.. That's awesome!!! I asked for that and was told no :-( but I am absolutely thrilled that you got it!! And I can't comment on how old you look... No avatar!!! *tapping toe with arms folded* where is your pic? Lol. Ok the chocotini is hitting home, time for another to celebrate Carolyn!!
Shari, gabapentin is for neuropathy. Pain, tingling numbness in fingers and toes. It an be used for numerous other things, I believe that Juneau is on it for chemo induced hot flashes, my mom is on it for leg weakness. It's kind of one of those drugs that can be used for a lot of things. How are you doing? You must be close to being done rads!!!
Keeping you in my thoughts Ireland!!! I know how the work issues can be overwhelming. Fingers crossed for the lotto for you.0 -
Hello Lovlies, as Chrisrenee would say.
Last night of our getaway is tonight, ah. Having dinner at a friends home. I'm taking, chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, potato chip cookies and pineapple coconut cookies. My tray looks decadent.
Tomorrow back to reality and my treadmill. Glad I was down a few pounds when we left.
I'm still available for Pocket Parties and always include you all in my prayers.
Ireland - too bad you had to go back, I bet walking out was fun. I quit a job once and ended up going back. I am sure they were happy to you back!0 -
A little more than halfway done with rads Luanne 16 down... 12 to go! Feeling ok so far... Knock on wood.. Tired but also busy so could be that more than the actual radiation! When's the Iowa trip?

Hi to all and prayers to those who are needing them. What is going go with me the last 3 days? I wake up in pain; fingers, elbows, feet, legs, hips. Should this not be over by now??? I took last chemo and shot on May 1 & 2. Woke up at 4:39am really hurting. Forced at this point to take a Dilaudid as the pain is bad. Guess it is best to call them MO in a few hours and see if this is just more residual SEs from that last chemo, I guess. Feel like I need a total body massage and then some. Suggestions/thoughts Sisters? Ouch, ouch, ouch!

ARGH!!!! I had a long post written and lost it!!!!
Let me try to recap....
Carolyn, the pains are normal for us anyway lol. The chemo affected us in many ways. It killed the cancer, yes. But it also did a number on our brains, nervous system, bones and muscles. It's just discovered that chemo fog is real, something may be able to be done about that. Many drs like my MO and PS agree that the pain we feel is very real too and are pushing for something to be done about that as well. Personally I like tramacet better than dilaudid as its not constipating.
Unfortunately, it's a SE that will keep reminding you that you had a life-saving treatment.
Shari, so glad that its ok for you!! Keeping my fingers crossed that the rest are just as easy!! I'm always in your pocket honey!! Iowa trip starts July 14, I'll be just back from watching my DS in the men's amateur championship golf tournament. Lol. That from the 8-12. The top 40 golfers from Ontario are competing. He is so super excited, his ADHD has returned lol. Stay in touch, we miss your smile!!0 -
Thanks websister - I'll look on the TN thread. Lady may have already got an answer anyway.
So you know, I officially own a zoo/mad house. 2 Outlaws, 2 Friends, 4 year old, melamute dog. Outlaws leave Saturday, friends Sunday morning... trying to see if I can get Monday off.
congrats to all who have finished treatment, jumping in pockets, sending warm gentle hugs to all..... off to work for a rest. Oh! and I will likely be MIA until sunday - just no time, unless I get a minute at work. So thinking of you all.

Sheesh - take a few days off for vacation and there is no hope of catching up! I can't remember anything I wanted to say. But since I'm green with envy, I do remember that I want to wish Karen a congrats on finishing herceptin. Woo hoo!!! So very happy for you. Can't wait until I can report the same news - in October...
To those feeling pain and needing pocket visits - gentle hugs and make room for me! Off to my shoulder scan tomorrow afternoon, with results to follow on Monday. Websister - keeping fingers crossed you get on the schedule soon, and hope that pain is easing up some... Today I go see my Gyn for my one-year visit. He found my lump a year ago on 5/24. Amazing all that happens in a year...
Off to keep digging out from under my pile of work emails. Vacation is great but it leaves you way behind! Love and hugs to all!!!

Jumping with happiness that pocket jumping is a calorie burner (what about the snacks we eat while we are in pocket..... Never mind I didn't say that)
In everyone's pockets!!! Off to clean my pool :-(. Rather be in it!!
Love you guys!!!0 -
Jumping counts as weight watchers activity points! Here's a treat for the pocket parties:
Chocolate Nutella Cookies
Prep Time: 15 minutes (not including chilling or baking time)
Makes around 3 dozen cookies
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt (omit if using salted butter)
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
- ½ cup sugar, granulated white
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ½ cup Nutella, room temperature
- 1/3 cup milk
- ¼- ½ cup Nutella for topping
Preheat oven to 325⁰F.
In a gallon sized Ziploc bag (or whisking together in a small bowl), combine flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder. Toss in bag to mix well. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth (about 2 minutes). Add vanilla extract and beat for another 30 seconds. Add in Nutella and beat until smooth and well incorporated.
With the mixer running, add half of the flour mixture (I snip off a corner of the bag, that way it’s easy to hold and add while using the mixer) and mix until well combined. Add in the milk, mixing until well incorporated. Add in the rest of the flour mixture and mix completely. Cover and refrigerate the dough for at least 15 minutes (and as long as 2-3 days).
When ready to bake cookies, line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll tablespoon sized amounts of dough into balls and place them on a lined cookie sheet, allowing about 2 inches between the dough balls.
Lightly press the dough balls with the flat of your palm. Make an indention with your thumb in the middle of the dough balls. Add a scant amount (around or less than 1/8 teaspoon) of Nutella to the dip of the dough balls.
Bake for 10-12 minutes (mine were definitely done at 10 minutes, smaller cookies at 9 minutes) or until the cookies are crackly on top and soft, but starting to set. Remove from the oven and allow them to stand for about 5 minutes, then transfer the cookies to a cooling rack and allow them to cool completely. Store in an airtight container for up to two weeks (if they last that long!)0 -
aaHugs to all! Luanne, yvI takingit day by Day u know? Trying to smile... Love u

Good job, everyone!!!! Into year two and surviving!!

Karen... are those weight watcher cookies ? Sounds divine... bring them to all pocket parties.
Keep smiling Shari.
Mariasnow: welcome and thank you for joining in... love hearing from other 'survivors'.
All OK at the docs - shooting pains are likely down to tiredness and overdoing it. Where it feels as though I have a baseball under my arm - which I clearly do not - is where, because of the numbness underneath the top of my arm and towards back of mx scar, my brain knows it should have feeling there and it is overcompensating for the non-feelings.... welcome to the new fucking 'normal'. But she gave me a thorough examination and said that everything looks and feels great. Phew !!

Amen Tazzy! So glad now when everyone else gets the all clear that will be great!
You know I got on the scale and lost 2 lb without really trying. I can only attribute that to pocket jumping with Aruba!!!!! Seems we are doing so much of it lately . When Scotty gets in with the wine and we get all our other snacks and beverages in order, we're going to have to take turns being the designated jumper who will have to help every one in and out of the pockets.
Shari nice to see you!
Karen cookies look great but I prefer mine baked, boxed and in the mail.
I hope you all have a great weekend.

Phew Tazzy! Relieved to hear that. Hope you get the day off on Monday - you need serious rest, sister!
Aruba, thanks for declaring pocket jumping a calorie burner despite that delicious cookie recipe that Karen just posted. Where's Scottiee?
Shianne, I'm convinced that as long as we are eating INSIDE pockets for a good cause, those calories become null and void right there. It just makes sense.
Shari, you sound so much better these days! Soon this will be behind you, and you will live your life once more. You go girl!
Cmbernardi, you poor thing! But yes, Shianne is probably right. Residual pain from chemo can still bother us long after the fact. It stinks, but hopefully you can get it under control. Not nice to hear you suffering like this. Hugs to you!

Hi everyone.....sorry I've been MIA.....the school year is coming to an end and I'm so
busy and so exhausted.
Tazzy.....great news....💃
Juneau.....sorry about the house....when one door closes (literally) another opens.
Chrisrenee....love the picture.....they are just so adorable....want to hug them so much...❤
Cmbernardi.....take lots of pain meds.....sorry you're in so much pain.
2Fried.....yay on the weight loss.
Karen....thanks for the recipe
Ireland.....I think many of us end up with this attitude....I know for one that I don't tolerate so much crap now but it has cost me friends and family. However, feel less stressed now......I keep saying that it's all about me now but I do feel guilty and selfish about my "new attitude"....lol
I know I have missed a lot of you but you are all always on my mind daily.
4 more weeks of school.......💃 Chicago and Iowa here I come...🍸🍹🍺😎0 -
Shari, that's all we can do. Day by day. Stop by here and these ladies will keep you smiling :-) we've all been where you are and came out the other side stronger than ever!!
Karen, while you're mailing 2fried her cookies could you mail me mine? They sound yummy!!!
Maria, it's going to be a much better year than last year!!! Congrats to all of us!!
Tazzy, so glad everything is good!! And also that baseball feeling is the new normal. I have that exact feeling!! It's really throwing my golf game off lmao!!!!!
2fried, designated jumpers hahaha that's funny, I was thinking we need a spring board to jump back and forth. Btw, I found those 2 pounds of yours!!!!
Liefie, I like the way you think, no calories in pocket party paraphernalia ;-)
Man, you guys weren't kidding about the last good night sleep being during rads!!! Even with melatonin and a sleeping pill I cannot manage to stay sleeping. If I get more than 3hours I'm lucky. But come time to get up and get DS ready for school..... I'm sooooo tired!!! Is this the new normal too?
Another question, has anyone tried Cheri's skinny fibre plan? Besides you Cher lol.
No matter what I do I keep gaining weight, I've cut my caloric intake by 25%, I walk a couple miles 3x a week, now the pool is open I'm swimming and doing light aerobics in there. I golf 2-3 times a week and the scale still goes in the wrong direction. I notice the tamoxifin is constipating so I need fibre anyway, I thought if I'm going to get some maybe try skinny fibre?0
