Websister - you are truly blessed! I love her name. I have three sons and a grandson. Always longed for a grand daughter. I know you will be a wonderful grandmother to her and your other cherubs!

Websister, DS and DIL are okay in their apartment. Fortunately they are on higher ground away from the water. He can't go downtown to his office, but will be working online from home, so no holiday for him as long as they have power - lol. Thanks for asking; I really appreciate your concern. I do hope that baby girl decides to come later rather than sooner. Must be quite a concern for them. I see that the Calgary Stampede grounds are under water, and it's due to start in two weeks' time . . . they will have to pull a rabbit out of a hat to make that happen!

Yes, the Stampede Grounds are a mess, the Saddledome is flooded up to row 14 last I heard so the Stampede will be severely impacted. I can not remember a Stampede ever being cancelled but wondering about this year, it is only two weeks away.
Know many people that have been evacuated and a few that are on standby, neighbours who live across the street from them evacuated, they are OK so far
Too bad DS didn't get a day off, many of my co-workers are also working from home, we had an on-line meeting this a.m., technology so far not being impacted but many servers are in the downtown area so it is a possibility0 -
websister, thanks for the update. I watched CBC last night but it is not the same as first hand info. We have good friends in Calgary who are in N. Carolina on holiday but I think they are high enough up.
I am doing a little copy/past here as I just posted on the Canadian thread.
I am that point of seeing doctors for the last time or in the case of my MO yesterday, in 6 months. I initiated an appt. with my GP this week and she is planning for a complete physical for me in August to allow a bit of time post rads etc. I am on Anastrozole and did have questions yesterday on whether Tamoxifen for two years then an AI for 3 might be better. Advice I got was that AI's are a bit better but for me with aggressive BC with node involvement, extensive LVI etc. my MO is happier with me doing the AI for 5 years and by then there will be more information. We discussed my fears of osteoporosis (osteopenic in right femoral neck~~bone scan in Feb.) but I seem to be doing all I can to forestall or avoid it. I guess ostoporosis is preferable to a recurrence~~my chances there are just about 50/50.
I see my BS Monday and for the last time hopefully, then RO in July, again hopefully for the last time and PS mid July and that is just for a follow up post rads. I am assuming that my exchange will be in late fall and that all will go well with no problem with the T/E. I also have a mammogram for my left breast in July.
I was up early for a physio appt. but am now on my second latte and have no real ambitions today~~maybe a day of just taking it easy. My DH is safely in Bodrum, Turkey on our catamaran and I had a Skype call with him last night. It was 25C at 0700 and he says it was 40C the day before. But we are both happy that he made it to the boat with all his luggage intact and can now start on the installation of the water maker he hauled from Seattle and all the other work needed before he embarks on the journey across the Med in July. BTW, the idea of 40C makes my rads rash get all itchy and so I am not sorry to be here; rain and cold are preferable for now!
Hope that it is a good weekend for all!
Marian

Hoping everyone in Alberta is safe!!!!!
Liefie, I just commented on the leg hair to my DS of all people lol. That ans only one pit to shave, there is an up side to all this shit!!!
Websister happy cancerversary. Mine is tomorrow. I'm feeling emotional about it and don't know why. Kind of like the tears are on the verge and yet I want to bash the living shit out of anyone or anything who gets in my way!! I guess I better not get into the whiskey today lol.0 -
Shianne, what can I say, but you are too funny! Maybe I shouldn't have said that in view of tomorrow, but you tell it like it is and I love you for that!!
Hope your day turns out okay and if you do get in to the whiskey, lots of ice and mix and water inbetween!

OK, what dosage of glucosamine do you take? I am on Aromasin and would love to help my joints/muscles. Oh, and I had my first trim- not even enough to sweep up but shaped my curls around my ears.

HI all .... I had an appointment on Wednesday with an orthopaedic surgeon. I have been having problems since mid_March. Not sure what I expected but not what I heard. I am a candidate for a knee replacement. Well not going to happen for so e time. I am 55 and this has come out of the blue ... No symptoms until March and I am bone on bone ... I need some hugs ladies ... I feel like shit because I am doing the "why me" and I didn't do that with my BC Dx. I am on the road to recovery and then BAM.
I will be fine but I think in a bit of shock right now.0 -
Yes, I hope everyone in Alberta is safe and dry!
Lisa- how long have you been on Arimidex? My first 3 months were awful. I felt like I was 100, every bone ached, especially my right wrist. I even had trouble brushing my teeth! Then magically, it all went away. I don't think glousamine will hurt but patience worked for me.
JoAnn - knee replacement is pretty routine now. Although you do seem awfully young. If your knees bother you, why not consider getting the procedure into your rear view mirror. I don't think it gets better on its own. Sending lots of hugs!
Shianne - whiskey might work. I actually was busy and missed my Cancerversary. Don't dwell on it, get busy on your other accomplishments. I know it's easier said than done but look how far you've come and how HOT you look. I've seen how beautiful you are on FB!0 -
Lisa I just posted about Glucosamine/Chondroitin on the Canadian thread in response to Joanne's knee issue. I take it twice a day and 500/400 mg capsules and I have bought it as Costco for years as it seems to be the cheapest.
Luanne, I think a whisky might just be in order! As for leg hair I have way more now than before chemo. WTF?

I just had some of those anniversaries too- end of chemo, buzzing of hair, etc.
I was on Arimedex for 3 mos- fine first 8 weeks, then 100 years old the 3rd month. My onc switched me to Aromasin. Fine first 8 weeks, then aches returned. Now been 8 mos on it. The mornings are the hardest of course. I notice it fluctuates- last week I had 2 awful days but then 5 OK days.I'm trying to be a good sport.
Thanks Marianeliz, I am going to get some. Can't hurt, might help!

Jo - I am sorry about you needing a knee replacement, but you should think about doing it sooner rather than later. My Mom had both knees replaced a few years ago after putting it off for many years and wishes she had done it many years sooner. Don't put yourself through all the misery. We will all be there for you whatever you decide!
Thanks to everyone for the well wishes on my upcoming surgery. I look forward to all of you being there with me. Hopefully it will go well and I can come home after only a few days, but we will have to wait and see. Only 3 weeks to go and I have lots of things to keep me busy so I don't have time to worry.
Hugs to everyone!0 -
Wasn't the moon just beautiful last night? I don't think I've ever seen it that bright and brilliant. Let out a few howls myself - lol.
Hearing all the talk about joint aches and pains on the Aromasins I count myself lucky to just have hot flushes. We are left with so many residual issues we have to deal with long after the actual crisis is over, and it is and always wil be a bummer to get bc.
Today I'm celebrating my 34th wedding anniversary. We have come such a long way, have lived through so much together, and he's been so good to me all this time. We've had (and still have!) our moments, but overall life with him has been wonderful. I thank my lucky stars every day.

liefie, 34 years is really something to celebrate!

Liefie - ditto to all you said except, I didn't howl at the moon and I've been married 26 years.
0 -
Believe....I'm still mad at my DH so I howled at him instead.....lol....he's used to it
after 42 yrs of being together.0 -
Congrats Liefie on being married for 34 years!!!!! My DH and I are at 20 and still going strong.
Sweet dreams everyone! I am very tired tonight so am going to bed early and hoping for a good nights sleep or at least 5 hours.0 -
Thanks for the congrats, guys! We only remembered later this morning that it was our anniversary, so had not planned anything - LOL! Friends have invited us over for dinner tonight, so we'll celebrate there.

Outdamn :-) love you too girl!!!!
Didn't get into any whiskey yesterday but we had company show up in the afternoon, I didn't think they were ever going to leave!!! 7 hours is a long time to stay especially when you weren't invited!! Lol, so today I'm so tired I'm doing as believe said and not dwelling on my one year. Actually, I've just thought about it as I was reading and catching up!! But I think I'm going to try to think of it as a really positive day from now on. Yes, that day changed my life forever but I'm still here, I kicked the fucker in the ass. I won. Every year proves that I'm a tough girl and I'm bigger and better than cancer. It took a lot from me but it also gave me so much, you all for one. Also gave me the lessons of patience, to enjoy every minute, to really look at things and to see the beauty that is around us. I laugh more now. I don't dwell on a clean home or laundry piles, my family gets more time and I hug EVERYONE now lol. Even both my DS who are soon to be 21 and 10. The big one just goes with it and hugs back but the little one gets so embarrassed. Lmao, that's when I plant a big wet sloppy kiss on him too ;-) I'm just mean that way. Hehehe
Anyway, I'm going to get my alone pool time in before the kids get home from school0 -
Liefie, congrats on your anniversary!! That is amazing! I hope you and hubby have great fun at dinner with your friends!
Luanne and websister, congrats on your cancerversaries! After a year are you allowed to get off the crazy train ride and get on something a little more sane??? I think I'll just be looking forward to putting it behind me so i can feel like i'm moving on. Keep us posted on your grandbaby's arrival Websister. We want to see pics!
Juneau thanks for sharing! My link didn't go through, but I'll do a search to see if i can find it. I'm thinking that sounds like the motivation I need. My BS had me switch my Tamoxifen from nighttime to daytime so I wouldn't wake up at night with charley horses, but I think it's making me even more tired than i have been. UGH!! We adjusted my thyroid medicine already and checked all of the usual suspects that sap energy (anemia, Vitamin D levels, etc.) I'm taking supplements up the wazoo. I finished rads in March. Is anyone else tired on Tamoxifen?
I missed the Giant Moon last night because of clouds, but the lightening bugs floating around outside are beautiful. Hope everyone is getting a chance to enjoy these summer nights! Hugs to all!

SwgeeWi, I am tired all the time. I take my tamoxifen in the a.m. I also take magnesium for restless legs. I too get charley horses in my inner thigh .... I use an ice pack once I can put weight on it. I take Vit. B12, D3, thyroid and have now added glucosamine chondroitin.
We need to rest up or we will be exhausted when we are in Iowa .... It is going to be so much fun.0 -
Hello Gals! been lurking of course... always thinking of each of you! I've been so so busy with now working =caregiving for adult man w/autism/fas. it's double staffed so is so easy! I'm of course big busy with my healthy changes support group on Facebook and I just love it. I decided to move to Surrey to finally be closer to DD/DG and all the rest of my clan, big change = maple ridge -small to surrey-busy busy big. I was all set to move this Saturday and hope your sittng down!!! terrible tragedy! my Landlords were murdered!! In the same house- was something to do with his 18yr old son from previous marraige. just terrible! So scrambling, I did amazingly find a new home. so in process of packing too.
I'm NOT pushing the supplement I take, but I tell you I was in so much pain from RA/OA/burstitis & Fibro, along with IBS and a bunch of other things, and after a few weeks it was all gone! it's been 3 mths NO PAIN!!! down 17lb & 41inches!! So many I personally know and hundreds of others are seeing remarkable changes. No more fatigue! NO more menopausal symptoms! NO more sugar/junk food cravings! NO more arthritic pain!! Usually takes a while for some repairs to be made with blood sugar/cholesterol/HBP etc... I only care that people and myself change our ways. and get so much relief and life changes to the good finally!! I've not taken care of myself for forever, and now paying the price!!
I'm a little miffed at myself I suppose - 1 yr 3 days after my surgery I got bad news from the Cardiologist!!! So there is good news and bad news. I feel fantastic except for now I'm getting major edema mainly in my belly which makes me mad cause it's supposed to be going DOWN!
So the heart thing. Atrial Fibs (fairly bad) and other wacky beats! So now on new type Blood Thinners, already on BP Meds, to help bring down/regulate heart rate. Very high risk for a stroke. The other crappy news is both R/L Ventricles are quite narrow - had a Angio-CT, so now have to have a Angiogram!!! Well... most of you know the fight I had against the bugs... the thought of any incision no matter how small - especially in the hospital gives me good anxiety.. but I'm working on it! I'm praying if anything has to be done it's stents or angioplasy!! MY FEAR? my Dad, and 3 cousins had open heart bypasses! my DC same age just last year, healthy as a horse exersized ate properly and still had 23 blockages. It's quite the Family thing. So of course - my mind wanders to the thought of cutting into me......MY CHEST!! OMG...the thought of anything touching my chest is enough to send me into the sweats!! So now I'm waiting for the 'call' for the Angio..damn! I have a very strong faith yet I"m human and falter of course! I'm working hard on positive outcome thoughts!!
I'm happy to hear of all the good reports with you all!! That Casting Retreat sounds so relaxing.. a cousin was teaching me once... wonderful.
Ok well thought I'd pop in and tell ya'll the news. I'm an OL' broad today (joke) - yeppers 57 can't believe it! it really IS over the hill... cause everything keeps going by so fast!
thinking of you always Cher
0 -
Cher, I have an apron. On the front it says, 'When you're over the hill you pick up speed!' Happy birthday to you! But as for picking up speed, dig in your heels, girl! Congrats also on the weight loss - amazing.
