Have been away for a few days celebrating my birthday in Vancouver, and missed a lot here. Had a lovely time there with DH, and the weather was sunny and glorious.
Mcook, what a wonderful thing you did! It really means a lot to me that my name was on that T-shirt. The photos are great, and it seems you all had a wonderful time!
Johnetta, it took 4 months after my last chemo before I had the energy to go back to the gym. Could only do 20 minutes at a time then, and worked up slowly. It just takes its own time, and you cannot rush it.
Aruba, hope your dad is okay now. So hard when they reach this age, eh?
Marian, hope your DH is having fun sailing that cat. Good for you on doing the tri, and so glad that you have the strength and energy again. There is life after bc after all.
Too much to comment on, but I'm reading everything. A good day to everybody!

Thanks liefie and glad you enjoyed Vancouver. Day 28 today of no rain!
Today was exactly a year since dx and a tough day really. Can't pin it down but for the past week or so turning my neck makes my head hurt~~stress do you think? LOL! I had a great phone conversation with one of our US sisters today, also same day of dx. She and I came through chemo etc. roughly same time.
Yes, tomorrow is my tri and my son is actually doing it with me though it will be like slow motion for him. DH went through the Corinth Canal today. They had wild and windy weather to there and I doubt I would have enjoyed it as much as they did.

marian - good luck for tomorrow! Yeah for you doing the triathlon and how lovely that your son is doing it along side of you.
So you are one year since diagnosis - what a year it has been for you - but you are moving forward and I am so impressed with your level of activity. It has been one year since I discovered my tumour, but it wasn't diagnosed until August 15th. It has been a hell of a year and one I am sure that neither you or i would like to repeat.
Hope your neck is feeling better soon.
Let us know how your tri goes and perhaps a photo?

Marian, a year since dx, and look how far you have come! Your son is a sweetheart to be doing the tri with you. Enjoy, and please let us know how it went? You're such an inspiration! Re the rough weather your DH is experiencing, I'm with you there. DH and sons love boats, but I'm a real fairweather sailor. LOL.

Liefie..Happy Belated Birthday! Hope your trip was wonderful!
Marian..with you in spirit..you are amazing!!
Dad is hanging in there...up to pee 6 times a night...called his urologist who said to watch and wait..but he had culture and no infection in hospital..and no pain, fever etc..now. He is just tired in day from being awoken so much at night. Knee is progressing very slow but sure.
But tonight..I was up all night for a great reason and want to share.. My daughter is in Israel as head coach of the junior women's soccer team at the Maccabi games..an international gathering of jewish atheletes much like an olympics. The USA team this week has defeated teams from Sweden, Canada, Brazil, South Africa, Austrailia and Israel to advance to the gold medal game without a goal scored against them.. They just defeated Israel 1-0 and have won the gold! So proud of her!
Hugs to you all..did I hear Canada is in our future ladies??

Arbua that is awesome! Your daughter must be ecstatic and the kids too!
Adagio, what a perfect day for the tri! I was really cold waiting for the swim in the shade but the outdoor pool was warm enough. Cold also on the bike but warmed up after I fell! A little extra adrenaline. My son was amazing and swam behind me encouraging me at every turn, then when I somehow hit his back wheel and went over, he was also great. He stayed up on his bike and made sure our bikes were fine and I was OK and we just got going again, albeit a bit slower and it was the hilly bit. But we did the 5 k run mostly walking with a bit of running and did it faster than usual. Just over 2 hours total and though I have a bit of road rash and my left arm/shoulder is sore, I took a couple of pain killers and am feeling so happy. Who would have thought a year ago when I was diagnosed with crazy aggressive breast cancer that I could do a short course triathlon at all. I have never done anything like it. And we were not even last; a couple of much younger guys came in a few minutes after us.
Tomorrow I am off to Bowen Is. a short ferry ride away for 5 days in a rented cabin on the water and am so excited for that too. Two of my kids will probably come for a night or two at the end. Yay! Would like to post photos but can't remember how?

Marian - great photo! So proud of you and your DS.
Liefie - Happy Belated Birthday. Sounds like it was a good one.
Aruba - hope your dad is continuing to improve. You are a wonderful daughter! Congratulations to your daughter too! What an accomplishment.
Checking in on my way to the Dentist. I don't miss a word but have been terrible about posting. Please know you are always in my thoughts and prayers! I am in for all Pocket Parties - they are getting few and far between, as we all see our Doctors less and less. I think that is good news.
Make is a great day!

I just got back from my MO appointment. It went well and I don't have to go back for 3 months. I still need to wait for the tumor markers to come back, but other than that things are going well.
I am also recovering from surgery and go to the doctor Wednesday to get some of my staples out. I can't wait.
Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes. I have been reading everything, but have not had the energy to type.
Take care everyone!!!!!0 -
Momof3Great....glad to hear your good news.....make sure you get lots of rest .....❤

Happy belated Liefie!! Glad you had a great time!
Aruba, that is so cool! Congrats, you must be so proud! So glad your dad is on the mend.
Marian, you re such an inspiration! I love your photo and your shirt! Your family sounds awesome. I hope you have a wonderful time at the cabin!
Got back from Iowa, my brother and his family were visiting from Colorado, then MIL came the day after that bless her heart. Lol. She is one of the most frustrating people to be around. Ever. She's heading back to Arkansas tomorrow.
Tomorrow is the grievance committee meeting to see if my insurance company will pay for the $5000 Oncotype test that was done back in December. I should know by next week...
Hugs and energy to everyone! Sheila0 -
Good Morning all! I apologise for being absent for so long but we've spent most of the summer with limited or non existent internet connection. Hope to improve that in a few days. Then I will be able to catch up with everyone. Sending Happy belated Birthday wishes out to all that I've missed. You all are in my thoughts daily even when I can't get on here. I hate that I am seeing new names joining the group. In the last month I celebrated my year out from final chemo and surgery! I wanted to share a video clip from the travel show we are producing. I will not let cancer define or defeat me. I will enjoy life to the fullest from now on. Believe will be heading down your direction in another month or so!

Pasting this from my post in another room so I don't have to retype it all!
Hi all....I haven't been on in a while but I think of you often. I am FB friends with some of you so you already have heard most of my babbling.
This past Thursday (July 25) marked my 6 month chemo free anniversary. I never would have thought 6 months ago, that I would have a head full of hair...and curly at that. I love the texture it now has and I'm keeping it short, as I love the way it styles. Not to mention it's WAY too easy to deal with as well.
I'm on Femara and I take it every other day because daily was causing me too much bone pain. I still have pains but they aren't nearly as bad. I need another breast surgery because the cadaver skin they used to hold my implants in, keeps giving way and my right one falls under my arm. This will be the third surgery for that issue. I have my MO appt Friday, I see her every 3 months now. I will have lab work and my tumor markers will be checked to see if there is anything quirky going on in me. I'm having some depression for lots of reasons so we will discuss that as well. I recently got a tattoo, see pic below! It's on the right side of my stomach (lower than my belly button). It has a lot of meaning behind it for various reasons. One being, I am a survivor. The words Hope, Believe and Fighter didn't speak to me like Survior did. Also, the "S" is my best friends first initial and I took it from her signature. She was murdered in Dec 2010 but now I have a piece of her on me always.
I put on 30 lbs since my diagnosis last August so I'm FIGHTING to get that off. Not being very diligent though, I have to admit.
I hope you all are well!
All my love!
~Kristie

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, everyone! I sincerely appreciate it.
Marian, what an example you are to the rest of us! You look so good, the hair too, and that T-shirt really says it all. You are inspiring me to go swimming tomorrow, and see how far I can go - lol. Enjoy Bowen Island. Have never been there, but would like to see it some day as it is beautiful apparently. Hope the good weather stays!
Lostinmo, welcome back! Will watch your video clip as a road trip down the Oregon coast is on my wish list too.
Aruba, congrats on your DD's wonderful achievement. She must be bursting with pride!
Tazzy and Flanelette, congrats on the cancerversaries. You have come a long way!
Swgee, hoping/praying that committee will decide in your favour so you don't have to pay $5000.
MrsCich, good to hear from you! You look healthy, your hair is pretty and so is your tattoo. The weight will go too, but you have the rest of your life to work on that, right?
We had a bear in our yard this morning scrounging around the compost site where DH encountered him when he went to throw out the compost bucket. He got away quickly, and the bear ran off when DH started yelling at me to come and see - hopefully bear will forget about the compost, and not come back, otherwise we'll have a problem. I have no desire whatsoever to meet him - lol.

Kristie, you look wonderful! My 6-mo. PFC was Monday. I think your hair is a little longer than mine though. But yes, I tell everyone that while I never would have chosen to have short hair (or no hair, lol) it sure is easy to take care of!! The tattoo is perfect too. I hear ya on the weight thing. I held steady all through chemo & rads, but then within a month of starting tamoxifen all of a sudden 10 lbs up just like that! WTH?? Guess it's time to get serious about exercise again, sigh.

Hi ladies...great to see the everyone is doing well....congrats on all the milestones, birthdays and anniversaries. I am in the weight gaining club and am blaming the tamoxifen.....not the fact that i have started baking as a hobbie!!!!!!and eating the freshly baked goods!!!... Cancer remains a dominant force as my sisters sil has been diagnosed with peritioneal cancer and is waiting to start treatment. She is 42 and tbh bc seems like a godsend compared to this one. I am gutted (once again) as my bil was and remains so supportive of me and to see him so devastated is heartwrenching as he and his sis are so close as they are the two babies of the family. Life can be a bitch....a few years ago we never mentioned cancer in this house and now its mentioned nearly every day. Thanks for letting me rant.xx0 -
Oh big hugs Ireland!!

Hi guys, I got biopsy results back today. I have a malignant tumor in a right axillary node, the OPPOSITE side from my mastectomy. I am meeting with MO tomorrow. There was no lump in my right breast on mammogram. Just this lump in the node that came from nowhere three weeks ago and was one cm by the time I got it biopsied.
It would mean a lot to me if you would all join me in a team cheer: FUCK CANCER!!!!!!!0 -
Yes stride - fuck cancer! I'll say it again for you. Fuck cancer! Sending you lots of hugs and support as you gather all your facts. We are all here for you!
0 -
I'm so sorry Stride. I haven't been on in a while so I didn't even know you had found another lump. Immediately after I read your comment I started feeling under my arm.
Please keep us posted after your appointment tomorrow. We're there with you and definitely FUCK CANCER!!!!!!!!0 -
Stride, big hugs to you! You will attack this one like you did the first one, and it will be erased. Hang in there! We will be here, ready to support you through everything.
