Websister, Paisley is a beautiful baby with all that dark hair - reminds me of my DD at birth. Still cannot believe that one of these days I will have a grandbaby of my own.
Those of you meeting tomorrow, enjoy!
2FriedEggs, really enjoyed your heartfelt post. You've said it so well.
Believe, can't you order a birthday cake from somewhere? I'm sure there's enough time still? With my mom's 80th we were very lucky - one of her good friends is a very good baker who made the cake and decorated it too. As for a game, I will think about it . . .

No one is going anywhere... just expressing that life does move on. I know that you are all too big a part of my life to say goodbye too.
Jumping in pockets where needed - especially if going to Hawaii.... move over Karen.
Sending hugs where needed.
Will be in the garden today - need some shed time. Want to get the most out of this Summer as possible.
Hugs and love to you all xxxx

Hi friends,
Well got home on Friday..took son to dr. appt, today was unveiling of cemetary stone for friend that passed last year. Weird to be home but savoring every moment. Think the brother is adjusting as getting up to check on dad when he calls is much like having a newborn at night...but my brother has never married and has no kids so new to him I am sure.
2friend-I hold your hand in caring for our folks...and as to your post on not saying goodbye....BINGO!!!!!
Upon my return home I found my happy by looking at the tiny flowers I planted before I left...5 weeks later..wow! I can tell Ohio has had alot of rain.

Welcome home Aruba, beautiful flowers for a beautiful person, how nice....

Aruba how beautiful! Enjoy your short time at home. You sure deserve the break. Yes I know exactly what you mean about it being like you have a newborn as well as it being more of a challenge for our male sibling reinforcements.
Liefie and Websister I'm so jealous of the grandparent status.
Believe I'll keep trying to think of something for the party but knowing you, it will be fantastic.
Tazzy I would ask if you are gardening and taking a break behind the shed but my guess is you are watching the Dr Gupta special on tv ; o lol Boy you have some real gardening competition with Aruba dont you!?
Ok Juneau how can we leave you if you're never here? lol We miss you!
Stride you're in my thoughts and prayers; hope you're enjoying your getaway and anniversary
In the pockets of anyone who needs a pocket party.

Aruba : Absolutely beautiful. Just get so much pleasure from looking at a beautiful flowering garden. If I had left mine for 5 weeks... they'd be dried up dead stalks
Have a good Monday everyone. Love & hugs xxxxxxxxxx

Okay, this is what I get when I don't read daily, I can't keep up with everyone's posts and end up writing a lame ass post. Well, here it goes...
I think of all of you all the time. Life happens, but BCO 2013 survivors is as much a part of my life as my family, my friends, and yes, breast cancer. I want to be there for everyone, whether it's for an upcoming Dr. Appt, surgery, a child's illness, a vacation , a new home....whatever it may be. I have a connection with all of you that I don't have ANYWHERE else! You all have been there for me, whether it's to listen to me vent, raise me up when I'm down, or just hear about what's going on with life in general. I love you all and hope this thread continues for many years to come!
Websister I love the pic of your beautiful granddaughter. Enjoy spoiling her!
Ramols, I love your family picture. You have such a way with words, I love reading your posts!
Liefie, your news is sooo exciting! Congrats!
Aruba your flowers are gorgeous!
Believe, I love the photo of you and your mom in your lime green shirts! Her birthday party sounds fabulous! I love your theme! For games, bingo, trivia, charades. DH found one online called 2 truths and a lie. Each person shares two personal facts and a lie. The lie must be as good as the facts. Everyone else tries to figure out which one is the lie. I though that sounded kind of fun!
I had great fun with Aimee Thursday night. We went out to dinner, then out for ice cream. The weather was beautiful. It was so nice to see her again!
DD Greer is recovering nicely from her tonsillectomy and adnoidectomy. When she woke up from surgery she said her pain was about half as much as with the abscesses. And, as usual, everyone at UW Children's hospital was super nice and caring. Thanks for all of the well wishes!!
A question for you, is your cancerversary date the Dx date or the date the cancer was removed?
Love and hugs to all! Sheila😊0 -
Sheila you had me going on that cancerversary question then I realized that my DX date and my lumpectomy date were the same . But what is disturbing me is that I have been using my MX date all this time, forgetting that the bc had already been removed during my lumpectomy- duhhhh!!! So now I can change to an earlier date. I don't know what my excuse is for my mental lapses lol- i didn't have chemo so I can't blame it on that; maybe I can blame it on anesthesia for 5 surgeries last year or else estogen deficiency from having had my ovaries ganked followed by arimedex.
0 -
My DX was 9/11/12, surgery was 10/9/12, I think I'll use the surgery date..the removal of BC.
0 -
I decided I am using the surgery date 10/15/12 which was almost a month after DX. For me that was the start of the new BC free me.
0 -
Aruba - beautiful flowers! Someone did a great job while you were away.
Iatigger and Loral - I use my surgery date too 5.1.12. I probably wrote this before but it would have been ages ago. After radiation I asked my Doctor if I was cancer free and she said, after the lumpectomy I was technically cancer free. Grr - would have been nice to have put that together earlier. Bad memories - very far away in my rear view mirror.
Swgee - that game sounds cute. I will definitely try it in a smaller group. Might be a little hard with 60+ people. Thanks - keep thinking everyone. The two games I have are 15 ques on how well do you know my Mom. (Easy) and when people arrive I'm pinning the name of someone famous on their backs. Their job is to guess who they are during the party. That should get them all talking. I hate those boring parties where you watch the clock waiting for it to be time to go. At the end of the year, I use my credit card rewards to buy gift cards (so the points don't expire) so I should have plenty of gifts for the game winners.
The cake was ordered today! I think it will be photo worthy...
Hugs to all.
Juneau - where are you?0 -
Those flowers truly did grow on their own. Hubby is not a green thumb and said he only had watered a few times since we had alot of rain. I did get out my first day back and pruned them and tried to shape them a bit, but not much needed.
Believe, you already have the game idea I was thinking of with guessing the name...to add to it..say you pin on Bonnie and Clyde or Romeo and Juliet, once the person figures out who they are by asking others clues, they can find their match and chat a bit. Good way for people to meet or catch up with each other. Love your picture with your mom!
SwgeeWI--regarding this thread...you too hit the nail on the head...this is indeed a second family Glad Greer is doing well..
Stride..thinking of you!!
I tend to use the dx date as that is the date that I feel my life changed...surgery was only 8 days later so not much difference. Had another little SE...had a pain in the rib area for about a week..without having done anything to hurt it..so of course my mind takes off to dark places. But the other day, I discovered that it only hurt when I pressed on it..and i felt that rope like feel under my skin like when I had cording in breast that BS confirmed months after surgery. I am almost positive that i have a cord this time going from below breast that had BC down about 2 inches toward hip. Looked up a few posts on this website and many get cording even years later. How strange to get such relief knowing it is just another side effect? Geez..last time it took about 6-8 weeks to calm, so I'll keep a watch on it but know there is really nothing more to do for now.
Today had breakfast out with friends..I love having breakfast out..wish we all could wiggle our nose and be together for one big ol cup of java together! Hugs.

I used my mx date when the cancer was finally taken from my body.
swgee: I agree about the posts. I feel mine are pretty lame too. But you are all in my thoughts daily. You are all a part of my life now whether you like it or not.
Happy Tuesday and group hug xxxxxxxxxxxx

Aruba its weird I had cording again about 2 months ago where I had had it after my MX last year underneath breast but over rib. Fortunately I had an appointment and the Dr said "it happens, take advil put warm compress on it while you're sitting watching tv and it will go away" I knew before I went to Dr that it was cording because I could feel it too but I just didn't know I could get it a year later. I swear it went away alot quicker than it did last year once I was reassured that's what it was.
Swgee and Tazzy- there is no such thing as lame posts- we want to hear from you regardless of how lame you might think your posts are. Anyway if you are posting what you think are lame posts, thats good because that also means you don't have anything too bad going on, right?

Hey everyone!!! I've missed a lot but I think of you all often. So glad to have found this site and be lucky enough to count you all as friends.
I find it so hard these days to log on and see all the newbies. There has to be an end to this disease!!!
I'm having a bad day, anyway. Lack of sleep over the last few nights plus pushing myself in a two day golf tournament on the weekend has got me in pain, exhausted and depressed. I don't want this new normal!!! I want to be able to do the things I used to. It makes me so angry. Last year, I played the same tournament and it didn't phase me. Now two days later, I can't get my ass off the sofa!!!
There's my rant for the day.
Believe, you and mom look marvellous!!!! The colour really looks good on both of you. You've bee such an uplifting and positive force for me, sending much love and hugs to you xo
In pockets where needed and prayers and strength to everyone0 -
I almost forgot to ask for a pocket party of my own :-(. We have the appt with a cardiologist this afternoon for my DS. See if we can figure out what's going on with him. Hopefully it's nothing not only for the obvious reasons but if its not he won't get student health insurance when he goes to school in Tennessee and won't be able to join the golf team, which is why he's there! I'm a freakin mess today!!
0 -
Ah Luanne, I do hope that there is a good reaosn that will not impinge on his school health insurance~~as you say, golf is hy he is there.
I met for dinner last night in Vancouver on a sunny bright patio restaurant on False Creek watching the rowers go by (old Olympic Village site from 2010 with a fabulous view) with SenakyChiquita and Outdamnspot from our Canadian thread. Outdamnspot was visiting her amazing relatives who we met too. Her sister just did an ultimate marathon of 50 k in the mountains near Squamish and her brother has done 4 iron man triathons. But they gave me credit for my little short course and everyone was so nice. As you know, It is so good to meet our virtual friends whevener we can.
But my biggest problem is a sore neck/head and at times I can barely move my head. I saw physio last Friday and we thought he loosened it up a bit but last night when I got home it was so bad in the night I thought about going to urgent care. I took some old Valium first which did nothing then 1 mg of Ativan which at least let me sleep. It seems that a combination of recovery from surgery and all plus stress may have caused this tightening but no matter what evercises I do and how laid back I am right now, it is not improving. I am countng days to when my own physio who seems to be a miracle worker, returns from holidays on August 23.
Looks like a day on the couch watching tennis! Could be worse I know!

Afternoon ladies. Went trolling for a happy quote for us all. Found this that I liked. Hugs to all. Go get your happy!
When I was in grade school, they told me to write down what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I wrote down happy.
They told me I didn't understand the assignment,
I told them they didn't understand life0 -
Ramols - perfect as always! We should all pick out a word that describes us. I think that maybe my last game that I've been looking for. I will ask everyone to use one word to describe my Mom, after the party I will make her a collage with the words.
So glad to have met you all - you have all touched my heart.
Shianne - in for your pocket party! Tennessee is a beautiful State. Praying it all works out.
Marianelizabeth -hope you are enjoying the tennis, while you rest.0 -
Shianne - Jumping in your pocket! I hope all goes well!
Ramols - Love the quote!!!!!!
I am getting really nervous about my first MRI since treatment on Thursday. The worst part is it will be a week until I get the results. I just hope I can lay on my stomach for the hour since I will be getting the rest of my staples out from my surgery just before the MRI. I don't want to reschedule so I am going to take Motrin before my appts and hope for the best. At least I will be able to rest on Friday.
Hugs to everyone!0 -
Hi gang.....just got back from a week at my cousin's. She lives near Niagara Falls so we had a great time together. I concur with Tazzi..... I for one am not going any where. May not post as often but I'm always reading ......love you all....❤
Luanne.....hope everything went well today....fingers and toes crossed.
Momof3Great.....will be sending lots of positive vibes for Thursday....you can always ask for a anti-anxiety med.....many people do. I've never had an MRI but I think I would need the meds as I'm a little clostrophobic.....will be thinking about you.0 -
Thanks everyone!! I can breathe again!! Structurally, the heart is ok. Nothing in the blood work. Dr wanted to put him on meds which of course he can't or insurance is voided but he agreed to try lifestyle changes (no caffeine, salt, etc) and have him monitored till he comes back at winter break. Will do more in depth tests to find out why his BP is so high but at this point it looks genetic. He said he is comfortable giving a 2% chance of anything happening that would require medical attention. Thank god!!! And thank you guys!! I could feel all of you wiggling in my pockets ;-)

Luanne.....happy to hear your news.....breathe again girl.

Luanne, great news! Where will your son be going to school in Tennessee? My son leaves Sunday for his last year of law school at Univ. of Tenn. in Knoxville. That state is so beautiful! After college, many moons ago, my job took me to Chattanooga for a few years. The climate, the scenery, the cheap cost of living and no state tax and the fact that I met my DH there might have something to do with the wonderful memories as well.
Welcome back Scottiee! Hope the rest of you travelers, and lurkers check in! Miss hearing from you all.

Luanne you made me laugh ....feeling us wiggling around in your pockets ..... Wish I was fast enough to think of a response but I am not ..... lol.
0 -
Can grata on the good news Luanne! It always seems harder when it is your children instead of you.
0 -
Aruba....it will be good to have a lawyer aboard in case "we" ever need one.....lol....congrats to your son.
0 -
Luanne...thinking of you and DS. Hope it all goes well. (((Hugs)))

Luanne: just happy to hear DS is all OK - yes, funny visual all wiggling in your pockets - ha ha !!
Ramols: love that quote - you always manage to find the right one.
Juneau: hope your absence is due to house buying !
OK off to get ready for work - hugs to you all, enjoy your Wednesday - whatever it throws at you - if you want you can always throw it back if its not what you want.

Hi all, I am just checking in briefly. At the hospital today having CT scan and bone scan. Had breast MRI yesterday. Hoping to know results of all this by the end of the week.
I had a GREAT vacation. My husband and I went to some beautiful parks in New York State and stayed at a B&B on a lake. We did a little hiking and we kayaked a bit. I rested a lot and ate a lot of good food, and I was able to put on a couple of pounds, which I needed to do.
Hope we hear from Juneau soon. Has anyone tried PMing her?0
