momof3 - that is amazing. Good things come in 3's! I'm going to ask my MO about the zometa when I see her in a few weeks. You and I are about the same time out of treatment and I'm curious if she's heard of it.

Juneau your house is amazing! And I love the pic of you in your wedding dress. What I mostly loved was the tree and moon by front door and how it looks like you've lived there forever. I've been into house 7 years and have nothing on the walls! But you've inspired me!

My week is sucky. Have stinking sinus infection that has knocked me on my ass! DH dragged me to walk in place last night to make sure it wasn't the flu. Hate being sick.

    Good day to all!

Karen - I am sorry about you being sick. I hope you get better soon. My MO said that she heard the results of the Zometa study at a BC conference this past December. It will be interesting to hear what youR MOsays about it. As I mentioned the study was for people not more than 1 yr out of chemo, but my MO wants me to do it still.

I am now waiting at the children's hospital waiting to have follow up with surgeon and get path report. I just hope tgey have it back!

    Hugs to everyone!!!!!

Momof3, Great news all around for you!! ThumbsUpThumbsUp

Karen, feel better...sinus infections can make you so miserable..feel better fast!

Well, xray shows bone in wrist tissue slowly coming together.  Cast is off and in splint but a bit concerned as lots of swelling in wrist, fingers and hand, and still so painful with even slightest pressure like holding a plastic spoon.  Feel a bit like cast off prematurely as only  about 4 weeks and still hurts too much in my opinion for this far out.  He says physical therapy so going friday at 7:30 AM to see what they say.  If I dont' feel right about this..second opinion  may be next step..

Now the good news..Did not want to overthink the trip business/boondogle we had coming up until Dr app yest to verify, but now looks like I for sure can go ahead with visit my favorite place (and namesake) next week...ARUBA !!!

    Momof3 - great news! I haven't heard about Zometa, so can't comment.

Aruba - the sunshine in Aruba sounds like the best medicine.

Warm hugs to everyone enduring the brutal winter. The best part is that it won't last forever.

Momof3 - I've discussed the results of Zometa and I'm starting infusions at end of February.  It sounds like it may become "Standard of Care" in the next year.

momof3 - great news re: margins and other appointments - here's a link to the info re: zometa and other bisphosphanates  and decreased risk of distance recurrence to bone in post menopausal women - http://www.breastcancer.org/research-news/2014012...

Juneau -  I am so happy for you - you have made your house your home - beautiful

Tazzy - hope you feel less tired today

Aruba - that does seem early to be removing the cast - yay re: Aruba :)

Karen - hope you feel better soon

    Take care everyone

Thank you everyone for all the well wishes and prayers!!!  You all really helped me get through everything going on lately. I have one more mole to biopsy, but given the other 2 B9 ones I am not as worried, but still don't want to cancel the biopsy.

Thanks Websister for the article on Zometa. It was an interesting read and confirmed what my MO said. I am going to call the dentist to see if he would clear me and if he does I am going to start the treatments. If I get bad SE or am allergic to it like the chemo then I can always stop the treatments they are also only once every 6 months for 3 years.

Peacestrength - good luck to you on it also. I will be waiting to hear how it goes for you.

Aruba - glad to hear that your arm is slowley healing! I am assuming the reason they left the cast off is so you can start PT. Have a great time in Aruba!!!!!!

    Hugs to everyone!!!!!!!

Websister and Momof3, I just read that article on Zometa and have a question~~what constitutes early stage cancer? I feel as though mine is not early stage since it is stage 3. I do not see my MO until mid June~~I see her every six months otherwise I would ask her. I did bookmark the article though.

    Aruba that is so cool!

I think it was on this thread awhile back that there was discussion about being NED or whatever but still looking over a shoulder for recurrence~~something like that. I have to say that I am feeling really good and pretty positive these days but I still feel as though it could come back down the road. What is different now is that it does not strike fear into me the same way as it did. I am not out looking for little things anymore. Maybe slowly accepting this?

mariannelizabeth - I am not sure what they mean by early stage, but I would assume you may not be. If I were you I would call the MO office and ask them to check into it for you so you do not have to wait until June. If I talk to my MO again I will ask what they mean by early stage for you also.

    Hugs to everyone!

Aruba.... I'm so jealous.... (but have fun anyway)

karen; take care of yourself would you!?

momof3: glad some good news has been coming your way.

ramols;  waiting to hear back from you.....  you're in my heart.

tazzy, websister, nice to see you popping up!!!  How are you!?! (besides tired.. and I can so identify with that!)

marianeliz... good for you. getting back in the swing of things sucks.  Just FYI - I walked in the door after spin monday and broke down in tears in my husbands arms.  SO TIRED of DOING so much and getting so little results.  *sigh* but what choice do I have. I refuse to get fat.

ok - i'm off for now. love to you all!  (GO BRONCOS! - my DH is from Colorado so Sunday is a big day in the Juneau household!)

marianelizabeth - here is a link that provides a definition of early stage breast cancer - http://www.cancer.gov/dictionary?cdrid=44656 - Stage 3a qualifies

Juneau - besides tired ;) - I'm doing good. Sorry to hear about the tears, wish there was an easier way - I admire your determination

I'm still here Juneau. Been running around to appts and getting things sorted out. CT scan of gallbladder etc set at my cancer center for Thursday. After that I anticipate the gastro will simply tell me I need to have the gallbladder taken out. We will see. In the meantime had a great annual check with my breast surgeon and was reminded of why I liked her so much. And got in to see the lympedema therapist today. She was a sweetheart. Loaded me with more info than I could absorb and said she would get me scheduled for a series of regular visits for a bit. She also confirmed for me that I didn't give myself lympedema. With my full node removal, post mastectomy radiation and the genetic link of my grandma having had lympedema - this was pretty much in the cards for me. Was just a matter of time. Fortunately I caught it early and maintenance and management is a pretty good science these days. So onward and forward. Will still look for my happy every day! Love and hugs to you all!

Juneau I agree don't be hard on yourself. Your dedication is amazing! You fought a hard battle to get and stay sober, you beat cancer down and bought a beautiful home in the process. Losing weight is not easy (trust me I know) but what you are doing is keeping yourself healthy. I bet if it was laid out in paper it would show you are probably the best you've ever been.

I know it's hard but keep it up and cut yourself some slack.

Ramols I had my GB out 14 years ago (holy crap I remember it like it was yesterday!) and within 10 days I was shoveling snow. Easy peasy.

I was supposed to go to dinner tonight with some GFs but didn't want to share my germs. Bummed because one of the girls is a stage 4 survivor and today is her 4 year cancerversary and we were going to celebrate. My BFF got her a survivor Alex and Ani bracelet. Wish I was there but all this rest has really helped.

Can't wait for Sunday. We're steelers fans but love the excitement. My crazy DH is going to Long Island. One of our friends has a party every year. I'm skipping so I don't infect any one but I told him he's nuts for going near the turnpike and the meadowlands (the real name if the stadium!).

    Ok sisters TGIF!

Juneau: I agree with everyone - cut yourself some slack girl !

Well unfortunately my team (and I don't really follow NFL - but have recently since I was in New Orleans the year they won the Superbowl) the Seahawks stuffed the Saints... then went onto stuff the 49'er's so I am going with Seattle.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, full of love and happiness.    xxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Hi,

Juneau, sweet of you to ask about the wrist.  I went to PT last Friday and after giving her all the details and my concerns, she took a look and said even though swollen, it appeared normal looking to her for just out of cast.  She put my hand in this machine that scatters the softest heated sand around and makes your arm relax enough to gently start bending the wrist and fingers.  I was in heaven and wanted to jump in that thing with my whole body..lol.  She did measurements of range of motion and also looked at xray and said that all looks ok but to remember all soft tissue in hand etc..got jammed with fall.  So I do the exercises she gave me and go back tomorrow if I can drive in the 6-10 inches of snow we expecting tonight and tomorrow.

Hand is working well enough in the protector thingy to let me throw clothes in the suitcase for Aruba....this comes at the perfect time for me both mentally and physically.  Who says pocket parties are only for scanxiety?  I plan to peek in on you all while I have that drink with the umbrella in it on the beachWinking

In the meantime, hugs and feeling good wishes to all!

so finally after much ado he -GP- beats around the bush finally landing on.."oh, ok, I'll send you to the 'lump clinic' in Vanc ...Ooooh, forgot they're at the Vancouver Cancer Clinic".... he's such a dutz!!

Feb 13th. Dr. Andrew McFadden at BC Cancer Agency - he's a surgical oncologist . got the referral after only 1.5 weeks of sending letter. .Did a bit of research on him and sounds like a wonderful very competent Doctor - prob some of you know him (re: Vanc Cancer Clinic)

I WASNT nervous.. and now I am.. silly eh? the rare thing is they're multiplying so quickly and growing quickly too, not all soft as they should be.. so of course I'm pushing to have the ALL CLEAR appt!! Maybe this Dr will even check my chest/underarms ect., since no one else will!! it's been more than 1.5yrs since surgery.

I WISH we had LIKE ThumbsUp & DISLIKE ThumbsDown buttons on here, there is so many I want to reply / address.. thinking of you all & each!!!

    xxox.. Loopy

Aruba - Count me in you pockets for a nice vacation!  I promise to be good and just enjoy the nice weather. Glad to hear the wrist is doing ok.  Enjoy your trip and tell us all about it once you are back home!

Juneaubugg - Sorry the weight is going up, but you are being very faithful and hopefully it will pay off in the end!  I wish I could be half as faithful as you!  I am being good, but can defenitely do better.

Everyone stay safe if you are in the path of the snow. I am up early since they called my DH into work at 2am. I probobaly will not see him again until some time on Thursday. At least the kids and I don't have to go anywhere today.

    Hugs to everyoneHappy!!!!

    Hi everybody,

    Been reading, but not posting.

Aruba, glad the arm is healing. Enjoy Aruba - warm sunshine sounds so lovely as it is below freezing here where I live, with an icy wind blowing. Brrrrr!

Juneau, thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us. You have been busy, eh? It looks so cosy and homey - enjoy! Can so identify with the weight struggle. Since I came back from S.A. I have not lost a single lb. Have been exercising, so not gaining, but my mojo is gone, the motivation is just not there, I'm eating whatever, and I'm slipping. Have to get a grip. Soon.

Lostinmo, my thoughts and prayers are with you. You seem to have a very good medical team, and together you will fight the beast, warrior sister!

Websister, I am really looking forward to seeing you again on Monday - it's going to be wonderful!

Ramols, I had my gallbladder removed in Dec. 2011. It was no big deal at all, and I really do not have any issues or side effects. I just remember those attacks. Had three episodes, and the last one went on for 9 excruciating hours despite injections for pain. Will gladly rather have another baby before I go through that again - LOL.

Tazzy, Ireland, Cher, Marian, Momof3, Karen and everybody else, all the best to you!
