Hello Ladies! Checking in to say hi. Been reading as we've bounced from pillar to post. In Tucson now for the largest gem show in the world. Spent way too much so going back to Laughlin a day early. First time in this big City.
Getting Road weary but feeling good otherwise.
Hugs to everyone!

Hello Ladies,
It's taken me a long time to consider myself a bc survivor. first I had to admit that I had bc at all. Then I didn't feel like a survivor because I avoided radiation by choosing a UMX over a lumpectomy, and I dodged chemo with a good pathology report.
my DX was dec 13, 2012 so I JUST qualify for your thread
Tonight I am trying to sort out my thoughts and emotions as this is exactly one year since I lost my breast, Feb. 5/13.
Thanks for making this conversation possible.
J.

Welcome Jayaytea! Anniversaries pertaining to BC do tend to bring out many different thoughts and emotions in us. I found the anniversary of my mastectomy a little harder than some of the other dates! You are a survivor, glad that you have joined our group!

Welcome Jayaytea. You are a survivor and we are happy you have found our little home. As you will see these ladies will save your sanity when needed, laugh with you, cry with you - they are the best.
Lostinmo - hugs and thoughts with you. Happy to hear your are pulling up your big girl panties... if they start to slip down you know we are here.
Big group hug to us all xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Jayaytea: welcome to our group - and there is no date or treatment requirements for eligibility. My belief is that you are a survivor from the moment you are diagnosed. And well... I opted for a UMX so I wouldn't have to do radiation as well (didn't get so lucky on not pulling the chemo card - but GOOD FOR YOU!).
Lostinmo: how are YOU? like REALLY? remember - we are here for a rant when needed.. and we love you!
I logged on today hoping to find a post from an old coworker who I spoke to yesterday at length. She's have a DMX on 2/18. I'm sure she'll get here soon and when she arrives you will all shower her with love!

Juneau it'll be like a blind date pocket party! From experience 2/18 is a most awesome day for surgical procedures. And I'm not just saying that because I had to have an emergency c-section 6 weeks before my due date with my son (along with 9 other women!) and it couldn't have gone any smoother!
Welcome Jayay! Big hugs to you. And remember no topic is off limits in our happy forum. If you're experiencing something you think no one else possibly could have chanced are one of us did. This group has spared my drs some bizarre questions! I wish I could remember one to use as an example but chemo brain has kicked into high gear and can't remember a darn thing these days. I've taken to carrying a small notebook to write things down. My DH said it's not as bad as I think but he's just happy I remembered to order his cake! Pistachio ice cream with chocolate crunches from Carvel! YUM!!

Thanks Juneau. Tues was rough I got news that I did not expect at all.
I got my PET results and the cancer has spread worse that I had hoped. It is now in lungs, chest nodes, liver and lower back. I start Doxil on Tues and hoping that it kicks butt. It is related to a/c but a somewhat milder version (from what I understand) I responded really good to a/c with my original tumor.
What does make me feel good is that this center believes in complementary therapy and already have an appt with one of the Dr for use of some alternatives to go with the mainstream treatment.
My husband likes it because he gets free fruit. LOL

lostinmo yay for complimentary therapy but not yay for the results of the scan. Hoping for good results for you with Doxil. I guess this is going to keep you off the road for now? Thanks also for keeping us posted.

Hugs lostinmo. I went to a workshop on Monday morning at the hospital I work at - Naturopathic Doc talking about Integrative cancer treatment. Wonderful that Western medicine docs are realising the benefits of complimentary therapy and aides.
Hugs everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

lostinmo so sorry to hear your news but sounds like you're in the right place to get the treatment you need. I giggle slid when I read your comment about your hubby. My mom in law used to like coming with me because they had pecan sandies cookies and my DH likes when I have to go to NY because of the cappuccino machine!

lostinmo damn! Sorry to hear your news...your amazing..and give me strength! Glad to hear about the good stuff..although all this talk about complimentary things is news & new to me. I've kinda not stayed up to the news of alternative things.

lostinmo - sending you big hugs and positive vibes! KCA!!!
karen - your comment about the cappuccino machine in the city made me giggle. I love that thing too. They have it on all the floors and I use it every time I'm stuck going there too!

Lostinmo - sorry your results were not good, but it sounds like you have a great team working for you!!!!
So I have decided to go ahead with the Zoneta infusions and will be going in next Friday for my first one as long as there is no snow that day. My DH is taking the day off to go with me also, just in case I have a reaction since I have had so many reactions already. They say it should only take 1 hour so that will leave enough time for a nice lunch afterwards for Valentine's Day. Having it on a Friday will also give me a few days to rest if needed before I go back to work.
Hugs to everyone!!!!!

Lostinmo, from someone who has finally reconciled herself to bc and reach out to this discussion board, I want to offer my best thoughts to you, also. The immense support of this community is unbelievable. Draw what strength and good vibes you can, and continue your journey knowing so many are with you.

LostinMo - Tuesday would have been very tough for you - hoping that Doxil does what it is supposed to to the mets and side effects are minimal. So happy that you are going to such a good facility in a warm location - love that complementary therapy is being offered - I am attending a presentation about it here on the 18th
Ramols - any news for you? - just thinking you might be getting tired of carrying me around in your pocket but I'll stay there as long as you need me
Momof3 - I will be interested to hear how the Zometa goes for you - hope it is a non-event
Juneau - like Karen's idea of the blind pocket party for your friend. - I'm in
I'm still in appointment mode myself - My oncologist called yesterday, read my mammogram report from January and wants another one in June. Saw my GP today - I have been having some heart arrhythmias lately and MO wanted GP to follow up - she's sending me for a cardiology referral and ordering an echo and a holter monitor - hopefully all will be normal - they sure do take every symptom very seriously now, don't they?
Saw my GD on Wednesday, made my day - love making her laugh - she was very obliging
Take care, everyone

Love having you in my pockets, websister. Went for the abdominal CT scan yesterday. Figuring I'll get results Monday. It was a total drag being back at the cancer center in that capacity - needles, scans... sigh... But I have finally banished the scared thoughts and allowed my brain to rationallly know it is just gallstones. It'll be a relief to get the results nonetheless. Started working with the lymphedema therapist too - who is a doll. Learning a lot and will be getting some fun sleeves in different colors. All in all - really can't complain. My big guy turned six today and I was here to celebrate. That's the prize! Good luck with all your ongoing tests and appts - you have been busy, haven't you?!
Love and hugs to you all. Go get your happy!

Lostinmo,
So sorry about your results. I will keep you in my prayers. Glad you found some complimentary treatment as well. We need to help these ravaged bodies as much as we can. I finally made it to the warm Tucson weather and have been walking and swimming to get my strength back. My body said thanks by dropping 5 lbs. so far.

Due to bad weather predicted for the end of the week I switched my first Zometa Infusion to next Friday 2/21. Hopefully the weather will cooperate next week! I am so ready for Spring!!!!!

Sigh... stupid scans always show all kinds of things we'd be better off not knowing, right? My CT scan to see what else might be going on with my gallbladder found a small lesion on my pancreas - with "no worrisome features." So I'm doing my best to believe them that it is nothing to be worried about. They said re-scan it in two years. In the meantime, go to a surgeon for a 2nd opinion about whether or not to take the gallbladder out, or do an endoscopy first. I think the gastro thinks there might be some other things going on - like post-radiation issues to my esophagus. Fun times. Going to put on my happy face, be sure to find my happy (like dancing around in the kitchen with my boys tonight after dinner) and move on. Giant hugs to you all. Hope you're all feeling good!

Ramois,
Check this youtube video to do your "happy dance" to!
I can't take credit for finding it, it was posted on another thread by vbishop.

Ramols - Sorry to hear about your issues and struggles. I am in pockets as needed with you. I agree with how uplifting spontaneous dancing with your kids can be. Last night my DH switched to the weather channel while we were all watching TV as a family and there was music playing. My two DD jumped up and started dancing to the music. My DH then joined them. Before we knew it we were all dancing together and laughing. It was great!!!!! Keep finding your happy each day and you will have all the answers before you know it.
Hugs to everyone!!!!

Ramols I'm in the pockets too! Why can't anything be simple. I still stand by my take the gall bladder out. Did you take your kids to see The Lego Movie yet? I can't stop singing "everything is awesome!"
I love when my kids start dancing. We got Xbox for Xmas (hehe) and love the dancing games. My son will make the girls at the clubs very happy one day!
Happy to report I finally got my butt back to the gym yesterday. Between being sick and the snow I couldn't get there for two weeks. I never thought I'd miss it though!
Enjoy your day and make it a good one!

I try to keep up with these posts, but find that I'm always missing something! Just wondering what symptoms you had, Ramols, that made you get a scan? I've been having some strange pains that I think is my gallbladder also, but haven't mentioned it yet because I do not want to have to deal with scans!
Good luck to everyone, hope all the tests come back with positive answers!

Thanks all for the good wishes - very much appreciated. In all your pockets where needed. Nettie - I had what I presume to be two gall-bladder attacks, several months apart. Intense heartburn/indigestion for hours on end with the total inability to get comfortable or find a position that eased the ball of fire in my chest. The first lasted about 5-6 hours. The second lasted closer to 14 hours. So I went for a scan and they found stones. But since I've had radiation, and since I complain of some ongoing digestive discomfort - feeling like I often need to swig some mylanta - the gastro is not convinced the stones are the culprit of my symptoms. So I have an appt with a surgeon later this month to see if endoscopy to check out esophogus area, or gall bladder removal are the best next step. As much as we all hate scanxiety... don't delay. Just go chat with a doctor to see what they say. They may give you a pill to help - might not even scan you. Take care of yourself!

Hi all....sorry I've been MIA.....been reading but not posting.
I have a lot of experience with gallbladder issues. Just want to say that if you have stones you
will know. The pain is excruciating and usually occurs at night. It is relentless .....four to five hours non
stop. Four years ago exactly I had mine removed with no complications. I have never looked back.
I can eat anything and should I have something that is high in fat , I have no problems. I went in in the morning and was home by lunchtime. The recovery period is one to two weeks depending on your age.
I was given morphine for the after pain but only had to take for the first two days. I hope this helps.....❤️

Hugs Ramols. Never (touch wood) had issues with gall bladder. Just seems one thing after the other. Great visual of you dancing around the kitchen with your boys.
Treats for PP's ? Well anything high in carbs and wine
Hugs and love and happy Wednesday all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
