Hey there everyone -- must catch up on my reading on our little thread. Now finished with my stupid deadline. Keeping up with our Z, who has rads every morning at eight, if those a$sholes would be on time. Welcome PRB! Wren has answered your Qs so nicely.

Anyone else have appts? I have PS pre-op tomorrow at nine. According to the 'Breast Implant Sizing 101' thread, I should be asking 1,000,000 Qs about pole height and anatomicals and smooth vs rough and fills, and therefore I should be as knowledgable as a PS, but I don't think I am. So I have decided not to write down any Qs. It's a radical decision. Have been thinking a long time, and I don't get the real PS anyway -- it's an asst. So we'll see how this goes. It's true I am a little scared, but I have just been to the hairdresser, so that's something.

Will read and catch up! Idesim, have sore throat and swollen glands. Overworking and might be run down. Taking airborne and olive leaf. Really trying not to get sick. W boy is driving me crazy. I have to ask him to do everything three times. Impromptu teacher conference today. Our princess is currently running around buck all the time. A minute ago she was in the backyard, completely buck, planting an avocado pit. Countdown to sx has begun, and I'm shifting into high gear -- I feel I should finish the Christmas cards... and I have to work this weekend! XXX

Hi Pat! so sorry you have to be here, but very glad you found us!

I too, was terrified of Rads, so I opted for a UMx right from the beginning, hoping that I would not have to have them after the final Path was in. I also had cording which lasted a couple of months, but have managed to dodge the LE so far. I was lucky to only have the one node removed.

I agree with Wren about checking out the Scar Project or the pictures on Breast Free, which is a website started by one of our members on BCO. There are both reconstructed and non reconstructed pics on The Scar Project. I was intrigued by the pictures of women on the Breast Free site, even though I knew I was not going to reconstruct, and was fine with it, because I had been used to seeing my own Mother who had a UMx in '94.

I would be surprised if leaving the surgery till after the Holidays would be an issue, but no one but your Doctor can really tell you that. I can tell you, I had my Mx on the 19th of Dec last year, and had no issue being involved in Christmas. You'll be surprised at how well you will be after the surgery. I agree the drain is an absolute drag, for me, it was the worst part of the process, really just an annoyance.

Please fell free to ask questions here. We are all at different time frames and Dx, so someone should have answers for you. This is a great group of girls, we can be a bit loud and have been known to swear a bit, but we're always there if anyone needs some support!

Take care, and let us know how you're getting on! M x

Gosh, Bobo, we are posting at the same time. I am so sorry you have the sore throat and swollen glands, but I am not surprised considering how much you are doing.

I am there for tomorrow. I understand you're not wanting reams of paper and questions, but maybe just a couple of bullet points of important ones? I wrote mine on my hand in pen!

    Don't be scared, Bobo!

Isn't it a bit cold for the Princess to be running about outside in the "buff"?

Did you change your hairstyle? I changed mine a bit last time, but forgot to tell you. Just had it layered a bit at the sides so I can spike it a bit, and the bangs are thinned out a bit more and longer.

I am getting ready for my appointment to hear how much worse my bones have gotten since I haven't taken the drugs that were prescribed for me. Fingers crossed it won't be too bad!

    Chat later...M x

Arrgghh, I have gotten so far behind again!! Been working really hard on my eBay store. A few quick comments, then have to go back to work.

My Marika stuff came today!! :)) Everything is lovely, just a tiny tad on the snug side, I ordered M's, but had I gotten L's they would be too big. Only the hot pink tank with the black design is really too snug, but I guess it is supposed to be. The little pads in it give me just a tiny bump so may end up keeping it. Otherwise, will sell on eBay. I love the black top with the designs on it, I think ldesim got that too, and the two jackets are really comfy. They are all in the wash now to get the chemical smells out of them. Tomorrow I get to wear new duds!!

bobo, your apps sound so yummy, I may try some to take to Thanksgiving at my friends. I'll be in the bag with you tomorrow for sure. Sorry you are not feeling 100%, hope you can kick it quickly.

Spookiesmom, I love that poster!! LOL!

Our friend on the d forum has posted, but is still in hospital. (Nodes clear so that is good.) She hasn't responded to my pm yet.

Zills, sorry your man is sick. Hope you can avoid getting it!

Ariom, why am I not surprised you have such a fun social life in your little part of the world! What fun you can all get together so often.

Wren, sorry Boris is having more problems. Poor guy, hope he gets better soon.

Oh and welcomes to gtgirl and Pat!

Must get back to work, more later!

    Hugs to all!

Hi gB, I found the Marika stuff to be off, size wise for the tops. The pants not so much. I have tops in XL that are still too tight for me. I don't know how that works! I did try to let you girls know, but if you were going by their size chart you'd have got what you thought was the right size.

I have a box full of size L tops to sell on Ebay, if I ever get around to it. I went by their sizing chart and found it to be totally wrong.

Good to see you got into doing your Ebay shop. Take care M x

Ooh! I hope my marika stuff is not too small! I got Ms in some things, Ls in others. Have no idea now what will happen. Maybe will have to send stuff to M to see on her ebay store. M, I will be in the bag for you at your appt tomorrow. Stupid Doctor. Can't believe he made you wait a week.

I need a Boris update. How is my Boris?

Hi PRB.. welcome to our little home.. but sorry that you have to be here.

Good suggestions on looking at photos. You will be surprised how quickly you adapt.. I didn't even think I'd be able to look at my chest after surgery, but it wasn't bad at all! Since I have had both, Mastectomy and radiation, I can tell you that neither is as scary as they seem. You've already experienced drains and for me that was the worst part of the process. For radiation, the inconvenience of it is annoying There is discomfort towards the end of treatment. I personally found the worst part of treatment to be fatigue and that only hit in the middle of treatment and about a week. I was working full time too, so that probably didn't help matters.

I agree that it probably isn't a problem for you to wait, but I say just get it out of the way if you are able to. I can't offer any advice on the lymphedema and cording as (knock on wood), I haven't had any experience with either.

Feel free to pick our brains or just hang out and chat :)

M, have everything crossed hoping the news isn't as bad as you fear!! Where are we going for lunch today?

Bobogirl, my head is swimming just from the little bit you mentioned.. pole height?!?! So, what happens at the pre-op? Just a lot of talking and planning? I'll be there and on guard for any nonsense this asst may start!

What is going on with our princess... why is she running about starkers? I can understand wanting to me one with nature, but that might be taking it a litlte too far :) Surely it's not warm enough to be comfortable in one's birthday suit there?

GB, so glad you found your mojo and are busy with your store... would have hated to see the opportunity to feed your Zulilly addiction pass you by.

    Posting for now.

Yes, ya'all, it's warm enough to be running around in your birthday suit. It was about 8frigging5 today. I'm ready for cooler DRIER weather. Humidity is unreal. But I still won't move back north.

Hi all, just back from my appointment. Bobo, it is Friday here now!

Wasn't too bad, I have lost more in my cervical spine, but increased slightly in my hip. It was better than I expected though. We went through the options of medication and decided to go with double dose Vit D and calcium supplements for now, I eat a lot of calcium rich stuff even though I don't eat dairy.. I am going for a Vit D blood test as a base line, and then check again in a month. I am happy with that. This Doctor is so laid back, not as much fun as fighting with the last one. I had been seeing him for over 30 years, and revved him up about "Big Pharma" and their drugs. I enjoyed sparring with him!

I have decided, I am going to stick with the Rites, and add another couple of days walking to see if that helps too

Now, complete change of subject. Yes, the blue tongue lizard has a dark blue tongue. I forget who asked, but I meant to answer.

Zills, you better check that turkey, I think it would have thawed in the bag today!

ldesim, I wanted to take Colin out for lunch today. It is his Birthday!!!! but as usual he's not interested in anything Birthday oriented. He barely reads cards and bins them, doesn't like a fuss, will never really cooperate about what to buy for him, so this year I bought a Flexible coupling for between the gearbox and the drive shaft of the boat! I kid you not, he's happy with that!

Take care! see you all later M x

I guess I really lucked out then! I ordered mediums and for the most part they fit fine with the exception of that one tank. I left the tags on that one. I went by the chart on xulily. Wish we lived closer, I'd check out your Lg tops! :)

glad things aren't so terrible Ariom, when you said you decided to stick with rites? were you thinking of giving them up or did I misunderstand? I got lazy for a few days but started back on them and had to fire up the treadmill because boy did Old Man Winter show up strong today, got about 2 inches of snow which is ok but it is to be below zero tonite and tomorrow night... brr, even us norskies take awhile to get used to that. Idesim, I would love the 85 too but not the humidity either and also cant imagine Christmas with hot temps. We spent one Christmas in Hawaii and of course loved the weather but wasnt the same for Christmas.

So about zulilly's.. my friend ordered from them and said they were not good quality any of you find that?

Glad you are getting some snap GB, keep up the good work. you must have some great friends to spend holidays with, sounds fun to me. With you Bobo all the way tomorrow. I will be checking tomorrow all day for updates. How are the kids doing now? maybe the naked phase has past? Bring her to me up north, no running naked outside for a few months! Hope things settle down soon, this month has just flown by it seems... usually nov. drags for me.

Good night to all, still wondering about gtgirl?? anyone heard?

grammaB, I found my way over here, but it has been a VERY long day so I'm not going to do much exploring tonight. I'm back home and just stripped the drain for the first time myself. The surgeon called tonight with the completed path report. The nodes still look clear, and the largest tumor measured at 1.9cm instead of 2.3cm, so now he is saying stage 1 (with all the other letters I haven't gotten straight yet), instead of stage 2. I such a newbie at this that I don't know yet when to use numbers and when to use Roman numerals, but I do know smaller is better HappyI'll see him in December and get a copy of the written report.

spookiesmom, It was such a boost of confidence to find you the other night. I had been looking for you for weeks but couldn't even send you a private message

Hi again, Just had some friends call in to see Colin for his B'day, so more coffee, and I have run out of "Pink Ladies" Tim Tams. I must remember to buy more for the next meeting.

Ndgirl, no I wasn't thinking of stopping the Rites, just working out what the best plan would be to try to toughen my bones a bit before the next scan. I will just add in a bit more walking and perhaps do the Rites twice a day. I have a really good treadmill locked away in the boat shed. I will get that out and put it undercover, if I don't feel like going out, I can use that. I also have the gym option, but I don't know if I can really be bothered driving there for the classes. If the gym was still open here, where I live, I would use it, but the gym and pool closed not long after we moved here.

I'm not sure, but I think that your Zulilly site is the same as some we have over here. The merchandise they sell comes direct from the company that sells it, so if the quality isn't great, it is because that company has sub standard quality. I have bought nearly all my Marika from their own website because they have 50% off the Clearance area quite regularly. I have also bought a few pieces of Marika from Ozsale, which is a similar kind of daily deal place as Zulilly. I have found the quality and fabrics to be pretty good.

    Sleep tight...chat soon...M x

Yeah, I know what you mean about the numbers stage/grade, etc. I am still not sure what stage I am. Hopefully MO will be able to tell me next week.

I know lots of people who do the Turkey dinner in the Aussie heat for Christmas! No way, Not me, we have Lobster, Prawns and cold Turkey breast, Cold Ham and lots of salads. We generally eat outside. The ONLY thing that I actually "cook" is the potatoes, for the potato salad. We then plow through the leftovers for the next few days.

You haven't lived till you've done a 40c, that's 104F, in your speak, with 97% Humidity Christmas in Aus! Last minute shopping at the mall in flipflops, and a sun dress, that's a given, so is Bing Crosby doing White Christmas!LOL

We do have a bit of a ritual of doing Christmas in July too, so we can rug up and eat all that cold weather food.

Ariom, you make me smile with memories of DH. After WWII he was a refugee from Hungary and ended up in Australia. He met his first wife, an American, there and came up to the US with her after about 4 years there. He was in Newcastle. He had a deep love of Christmas and said he could never reconcile the hot summer Christmases in Australia!! But he loved working 4 day weeks and surfing the other three days!

I remember my parents when we first arrived here. It was just the 3 of us, no other family, and only the people we met on the ship as friends. My Father was really well traveled, but my Mother had never been out of Glasgow!

I would have been hard to adjust to, but they ended up loving the laid back culture, and made lots of friends. My Mother loved to entertain, and did it as she would have in Britain, she was very sophisticated and beautifully groomed but never once had a tan. Dad and I loved the heat and loved the beach and were as brown as berries all the time. My Mother's Birthday was on Christmas Eve, and we always did the whole Family thing, with many people invited along, on that evening. Most of my jobs meant that I worked Christmas Day, so it was never a hardship for me. We have continued the tradition, and still do the big dinner on the 24th.

I loved it when Vi came into our lives. He had never had a Christmas, never had a birthday either, so you can imagine what a great time I had, giving him these special occasions for the first time, as a young teenager. He never failed to show his love and appreciation for everything we did. As the years went by, he became the best gift buyer, and wrapper. I still have a mountain of "Mother" cards that he gave to me at every opportunity. The first ones were all tizzy and frilly because he hadn't a clue what they said inside, but his sentiments were always wonderful and written the best he could, in his own way. As the years went on he learned to speak and write English and he would always write beautiful cards to each of us, and always found gifts that were really personal. He loved Christmas, and although much older, would wake us early like a small child would to open the presents.

Ahh, thanks for that lovely memory of your DH, gB, isn't it amazing how things happen. Meeting an American in Australia and then moving to the US. Then meeting you. I love hearing these stories of how people come together.

It was nice to recollect a lovely memory of my Parents and Vi!

    Take care everyone...M x

Take it easy for awhile, GrammB is correct, we give that advice but dont always follow it, I know I didnt, I felt so good after surgery and thought I could do more than my body thought and I always paid the price!!

Come here often and ask any ? you may have or just to vent! this is the best club in the world!

Welcome Molly, Pat and GT. As you can see we are all different but have made it thru as you will.

I had a BMX, chemo and now rads. I was happy to be rid of my breasts but I was small and the tumor was almost as big as one. It took about three weeks before I got a good look at my scars in the mirror. The most annoying thing for my BMX and now rads is a hairy underarm.

My marika arrived yesterday? And sat out in the rain at the main house. No harm done. I always get packages in the rain. There is a huge porch on one side and an office but they always leave it on the side that's open.

I feel like that girl in flash dance in my shirts. Will have to get some wife beaters to wear under it. The bottoms are long like M said and a little more form fitting on my saddlebags than I would like. But they are comfortable and will be good for the gym in January.

Waiting on an update from Bobo.

Glad you avoided the big drugs M.

Yeah M! I'm glad it was more positive than you anticipated.. I was a little worried when you said you had been ducking it for 5 years! Happy Birthday Colin.. whether you like it or not.... pffft!

I love that Bobogirl left us in a cliffhanger. At least you sounds upbeat so I am hoping it all went well. I will wait patiently to hear all of the details. Enjoy your dinner and then get your butt home and get some rest please!

    Hi Molly, welcome to you!

I have not received my Marika yet, but you all have me worried about the M tops that I got.. I will be so upset if they are too small.. but maybe that will just spur me on even more to lose this damn weight.

Ndgirl, been thinking of getting a treadmill, do you find you use it often? I have an exercise bike, but it does quite a number on my knees.. which I've always had problems with. I'm thinking with Black Friday coming up I'd get the treadmill. I want to get one with the incline.

I've ordered from Zulilly in the past and everything I've bought has been good quality. They have many different vendors they sell things for ranging from high end items to stuff that you could probably find in Walmart.

So far we have escaped snow.. they are talking about a storm on Wednesday which would be kind of nice to have snow for Thanksgiving :)

    Posting.

Zils, I am chuckling.. about the flashdance comment :)

I haven't had smelly pits since chemo... unfortunately rads didn't do away with my armpit hair, but I haven't had any problems shaving (I'm Italian.. shaving is a necessity).. I have some feeling in my armpit.

I really wanted to go out to eat tonight, but cranky pants didn't want to, so now he's in the kitchen cooking something up. At least I am home tomorrow to be able to clean up the mess he is going to make. Weather wise we're in for a sh!tty weekend, so maybe I'll get a head start in lugging some of the xmas crap upstairs. The house is so small that we have to move furniture on the porch to bring the tree in, so I can probably get a head start on that as well. I also want to try some of the anisette drop cookie recipes that I printed out. My mother refuses to share recipes and she is famous for her italian drop cookies but doesn't make them anymore and I intend to replicate them. From what I gather, depending on what region you were from is what type of drop cookie you make, lemon, almond or anisette. It is my mission in life right now!
