Idesim... yummy, they love just delicious! I cut out a recipe years ago for these but have never made them, maybe you gave me an idea for some cookies to take to grandsons this next week. the treadmill... well I actually dont mind it too bad just because of our crappy weather for so many months in winter, I love to walk outside even in snow but we get so much wind sometimes it is just impossible. I do use it tho, we got it in 2001 after DH had heart surgery, so it is old, it does incline but is really hard moving so I dont mess with that, another drawback on mine is it is niosey, Think the newer ones are not. Ours is in basement so I turn the tv on loud and go for a walk! I cant believe it is to be -12 degrees tonight! But no snow coming in the next 10 days is good.
Cant wait for bobo's post, but worried that she is feverish, take it slower girl!0 -
Oh yummmmmm, ldesim! That plate looks gorgeous!
Yeah, I am with you, Bobo is the Queen of the cliffhanger, she did the same thing, remember? I am going to reconstruct....talk later!!!!!!!! OMG I don't do waiting well!
I was really surprised too, about my scan. I know it isn't good, but this guy isn't acting like I should be wrapped in cotton wool like some of the others in the past. I am going to research all I can about steroid induced osteoporosis, it isn't the same as the normal osteoporosis so just taking calcium doesn't really help.
My treadmill has the auto incline. I used to use it every day before we moved here. It has been in the shed since we moved , because I was just too busy with the renovations, and then all this crap happened, but I find it really relaxing and wear my iPod when I use it. I gave away my exercise bike because it hurt my knees too.
I hope your Marika stuff fits. I am working on the weight loss idea, for it all to fit too, but I am not holding my breath! I know I'll get my money back, if I sell on Ebay. I was buying these Tshirts for about $5.00 a piece.
Zills, you must be so petite if those tops are too big on you, but they would look good with a tight tank underneath. I always wear a crop top bra from Marika under all my Marika tops or the zip up jackets. I can fit one of my foam weighted foobs in it and it feels great. I am finding I am wearing this stuff more and more during the day. It is just so comfortable and I love the colors.
Having a quiet day at home with Dex. Colin is model yacht sailing today, so I have the house to myself. I might even start that Ebay stuff, well maybe! Take care M x0 -
quick question Ariom. I tried to put some weight in the micro fiber boobs from mary, but when I just barely opened the seam on one, all those white little buggers of beads started to come out so i closed it up again before I had a real mess. Did you put any weight in yours? I find I just cant wear them, that side rides up too far on me. I like them but just dont wear them because of the weight issue. any suggestions, i have heard to use curtain weights, coins, rice etc. but how the heck do you get them in there without all coming out?0 -
Hi ndgirl! No, I didn't put any weight in Mary's micro bead foobs, but I have put some weight in another one. I find I am using an Amoena Foam foob that has weight built into the centre, more often than any of my others. It is just the right weight to go inside the Marika sports Bras and sits pretty well, all day. It has a fabric cover that comes off for washing. It is my casual clothes favorite. Between that one and one very average Silicone prosthesis, I find I am covered. I can't believe how anxious I was to get that Contact, and I never use it! Well, Summer is coming, so that may change!
Hmmmmm, If it were me, I'd probably get a rubber band and pull the fabric of the Micro Bead foob on the seam, wrap the band around so no beads can escape, open the seam a little and add some curtain weights or coins, even rice, and sew back up before releasing the band. Just squish the weights around inside to get it all even. I find I use Mary's foobs in my Genie camis, or a swimsuit, so they cant ride up because the suit or cami is so firm around the body.
Where is that Bobogirl? I hope she's fast asleep!0 -
The ones I got from Mary were way too large, so I made a smaller one using her instructions and used the beads from hers to fill it. I would open it along the seam and hold it steady while dropping in the weight. As long as you keep it upright and in your hand, you shouldn't lose too many microbeads. Afterwards, pin the opening and double stitch it by hand. The one I made is now too large, so I need to either make a new one or take beads out of the other one. Could you still wash it if you use rice? Aquarium sand might work also. Any idea how to judge how much weight to use?0 -
Ariom, glad you appointment went better than expected. Happy Birthday also to Colin. I'll have to admit to going back to zulily and ordering 3 more pair of Marika yoga pants. I'm finding the tops stick to my jeans and sweat pants. They should move nicely over the yoga pants. I got leggings and capri pants in the first order, too cold for capri pants and not sure I would go out and about in the leggings.
Speaking of cold, no snow here but it has been really cold! Yesterday and today both never got over 28°F (-6.7°C) and last night when I went to bed it was 10°F (-12.2°C). It is only 11:15PM right now and it is already 10°F. It is clear that is why so cold. But I want snow too!
Zills, I laughed at the flash dance reference too!!
bobo, waiting anxiously for your report! So sorry you are still not feeling better.
ldesim, those cookies look so yummy. I can't have them though.... sigh. I used to make so many different Christmas cookies and fill tins for gifts. No more, can't have that kind of temptation at hand.
I have an elliptical. The running or biking really mess with my knees. I find the smooth glide action of the elliptical works better for me. I have it set when a dinning room table would be, don't have one, from there I can look out on the bird feeders and the creek and wildlife.
I have decided I really don't like the ABC foobs in the bras. I hope once I can feel comfortable putting on the contact ones I will feel better in the bras I have. If not, I will just remain flat all the time. I was just way too uncomfortable in the bras. I too put a lacy cami on under the Marika tops.0 -
Hi gB and Wrenn,
I hadn't thought of sand, Wrenn. I bought a cushion in a decor shop recently that was filled with the micro beads, so I can take them out of that if I need more. My mx path showed that my breast weighed 975gm so almost a kg. That is approx what my size 8 prosthesis weighs, but he foam one would be half that, and very comfy. I just need enough weight to keep the top from riding up.
gB, I am smiling at the Marika purchases. I still check the Marika site regularly for those super discounts. I'll never say never, to me buying more!!!!!
Gosh it is cold there gB. We don't ever get that low, just maybe to 1c. We are very close to the snow fields, but the mountains seem to keep it from getting too cold here. We do however, get the most exceptional cold, high winds that come straight off Bass Straight from Tasmania. We look right at the dunes in the distance, that separate us from the Ninety Mile Beach, which is very rugged open ocean. Not a place for the fainthearted! We have amazing storms that roll in without much warning. The Lake we live on is mostly salt water which comes from the ocean through a place called Lakes Entrance.
It is so lovely here at the moment, but I know the super hot weather will be upon us soon. I don't care for it. We will often get a run of days up to 43c, then a cool change for a bit in the 30's.
I am not familiar with the ABC foobs. I'll be interested to see how you find the Contacts.
Take care M x
Good on you Bobo!, I can see me having to go to bed and wait till tomorrow for your news! I am not really that angry....Hugs M x0 -
That little witch is still leaving us hanging??? Grrrr! Hope you are feeling better Bobogirl. You best be resting!
43c?? That's like 110 degrees.. omg that is hot. I know it was winter when I went there (July) and it was like our Spring/Fall weather.. didn't realize it got that hot... glad I didn't go during your summer!
We have a cold front coming in tomorrow.. not as cold as you GB, but in the 20's... so I am going to take advantage of the somewhat nice weather. It's cool out and very windy, but the sun is shining. I'll see if I can finalize the raking and at least get myself a good workout... housework can wait until tomorrow.
Still no Marika for me... boo hoo!0 -
Boris update: He goes in the bathroom and hangs out while we shower. From time to time he jumps into the tub before it gets wet. Today he was in the tub when I was ready to shower. I turned the faucet to a trickle to warn him more water was coming. He ran down to the trickle and drank and drank from the stream. Maybe that's why he's been getting in the tub all along. He doesn't drink much from his water bowl.0 -
I love my Boris update! Edward likes to drink from a stream in the bathtub! Oooh. I love Boris.
Good on me! I love that I made M give me an angry emoticon. I have no idea how to do that. If you guys only knew how I am staggering around! I have been working at the college since 7:30 this morning (Saturday), and have only just got home, and was prepping before that, and I felt so poorly this morning that as I was reading and writing words they looked funny to me. Idesim, your dream cookies look delicious. I know you might have to go with your region, but I vote for anisette. Have not really done cliffhanger on purpose. It is nearly 2 p.m. and I have had no food today or even a glass of water! Have a glass of water and a handful of almonds in front of me right now. I simply have to finish all of this stuff I am doing -- I'm on deadline, and it must all be done before sx.
Let's see. The PS report, in brief. I will be able to lift a mug. So that's something. No vacuum for six weeks. Don't know how that is possible. The greatest news is that this PS allows a shower immediately! Thank heaven. Can stay an 'extra' day in hospital if I wish: must just be in pain and/or not drinking.
Speaking of pain. Am allergic to pain meds I am always given, so I have been vocal with everyone (the other pre-op) about alternatives. It turns out there aren't many alternatives, or so they say, to codone-type pain meds to take home. Hmm. They're thinking about tramadol plus valium (there are muscle spasms with the TEs), but the PS made it clear that tramadol would probably not manage the pain much, and I should just know that going into it, and if I was in a lot of pain at home I should call. I said, Hey. I have an idea. Why don't we make sure my pain is managed before I leave the hospital, because in my experience if you're home and say you are in pain, the nurses tell you to take an Advil and suck it up. So I don't exactly know how all of that is going to go. I have been told to expect a lot more pain with recon, from the get-go. They keep saying, Everyone is different. Looks like it's going to be my responsibility to find the right balance, which is something I wish the doctors would be in more control of, really.
There is some bra nonsense that I have PM'd to our Ariom, hoping she could help me solve it. Really I wish she would just pick me out some bras and either send me a link to buy them or just send them to me and I will send her the $$ for them. I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment, and don't fancy shopping for bras with the TEs, the lumps, the scars, and all of that, and the lady helping me. That feels like a big problem for me right now.
There's a lot more having to do with the subsequent surgeries, and nip recon, etc, but I'm trying not to focus on that right now. Bad news: I will not have my new fake boobies for the wedding. I'm disappointed about that. I talked to DLLP about that. But she says it will be fine. But I don't feel like it's fine.
So we've got to do a civil city hall thing in our town this week, because our friend is the fire chief and she told us to do it, oh, and she's a lesbian, she's a lesbian fire chief, and she wants to make sure DLLP can be at the hospital as much as she wants. BTW, I got permission for DLLP to NOT have to spend the night with me at the hospital, because I want her to get home and have a break from it, and eat something junkie, and get some good sleep. I think it will be hard helping me for those few days. I did not have a good time helping my brother. I hope I am not that bad. And I don't want to board Bobo. He stops eating at the fun 5-acre dog hotel we take him to. He hates it, he is terrified, and he doesn't know we are coming back.
Have not gotten my Marika outfits either! I too am worried it will be too small. What will we do then? Are we swapping it around to our Z? Or, are we sending it all to M to put in her eBay store?0 -
Eat Bobo! Glad you will have DLLP officially there. There's nothing wrong with her going home at night. Bobo has been behaving so it's your call.
You won't have boobs by March? Why do you have to have TEs? Just while you heal? Don't you get to keep your nipples? Sorry for the stupid and personal questions but I don't understand. You are going smaller right so you should have plenty of skin.0 -
ok what kind of recon are you having? I read the recon page.0 -
Oh for goodness sakes. don't be worrying about the bras Bobo. I have PM'd you a solution! I am laughing at your absolute faith in me to find a bra for you, when we have no idea what size you'll be...whoa there girl...we will get it worked out when we have a size to work with!
I hear you about the pain meds. I am the same, hate them, can't take them, even though I have Rheumatoid. I had a really bad neck injury years ago, caused by a Chiropractor, where they wanted to do a laminectomy through the front of my neck. I refused the surgery but the pain was excruciating. My wonderful Neurologist got me onto Paracetamol, which is a simple pain killer, but it had to be taken religiously, and on time. It worked, and even now I only use it when absolutely necessary, if I have a bad flare from the arthritis. She told me that people poo-poo it as a pain killer for something serious, because it is an over the counter med, but that it is excellent if used this way. Just watch the Valium though, I took it for a while for the same neck injury and became dependent, I quit cold turkey, but getting over that was atrocious.
I can understand you not wanting DLLP at the Hospital. I didn't want Colin to have to be there either. I am not understanding what the thing with the Lesbian Fire Chief is about? What do you have to do at City Hall?
Have to run, will be back later...M x0 -
You need to be strong and healthy for your surgery and to heal.. you will not be on a handful of almonds... seriously!!! You need to take better care of yourself or you're gonna be in a whole lot of trouble from us!!
I don't get not having the boobs by March either... I don't understand the whole process, honestly. From what little I have read, they "fill" and I assume wait for the the skin to stretch then keep filling.. I don't even know what they fill with lol. Then there is some type of exchange surgery. In my mind its like jacking up the car to change the tire!
So they only want to keep you 24 hours unless you are in major pain or not drinking? I'm a bit surprised over that.. I recall the ladies who were having recon were all in for 3 days or so.
Agree on pain management while you are there, stay on their @sses over that... if you have problem with meds you don't want be home having trouble. Are you having the block and the nausea patch? Oh wait, you still have a preop to go with the BS I Imagine.
I did the same with Joe, sent him home... I figured I'd be sleeping, not channel surfing and roaming the halls which is what I ended up doing out of boredom.
I am totally confident that M will sort out all your bra issues
Wren, I had the worst time getting my cat to drink when we first got him, he would drink from the bathtub too.. bowls of water he would just tip over all the time. We had to break down and get one of those stupid overpriced fountains. Boris was probably like.. can you guys get the hell out of the shower so I can get a drink of water!!! He sounds so sweet.
Haddock on the coffee table.. I'll check in later.0 -
Bobo, listen to idesim, you have to be as strong as possible for your surgery! eat and drink. I was told to eat protein to speed the healing. Also dont worry about bra right now, get through the first part. Agree dont need DLLP at hospital, my hubby and son were there of course, but afterwards and a little chat and they knew I was ok, I told them to go eat and go home. I just wanted to rest and not try to entertain anyone. Told them not to call that night either, if I needed them I or nurse would call them. your kids will need her at home, and bobo too. I dont know anything about recon. or too much about pain meds either, but are you having the pain block for surgery, please ask for it. But you need to stay ahead of any pain, because you dont heal if pain is not controlled. I hope you are feeling better, but I sense your mind is just whirling! and your work is unbelievable! dont know how you do it! SuperWoman!0 -
I sent DH and DD home after my surgery. DH looked so tired I was a little worried about his driving on the way home. I was afraid he was going to drift off, fall off his chair and hurt himself. Then I would have to take care of him.
Lesbian Fire Chief. That's cool. I think GB said her daughter is a swat team commander.0 -
bobo, all good advice given so far, so I won't repeat. The most important thing for you to do is get yourself well before sx all other prepping is secondary. If you go in with a temp my guess is sx will be postponed. Don't want that to happen.
I was told not to lift anything over 10 lbs so mugs and bottles of water were fine.
DD stayed while I had sx, waited until I got out of recovery and into my room. I told her to go out and get some dinner. She found a Brazilian restaurant to eat w/in walking distance! Never knew it was there! Don't eat out much. Sent her home in the evening as I knew all I was going to do was sleep (or in retrospect, have nightmares). She brought coffee and bacon the next morning. And yes, she is a lesbian Police Sergeant and commands a SWAT team!
Wore my Marika dry wick leggings with the black flocked hooded top all day yesterday. Felt so elegant. I love those leggings, will have to see if any are still available.
I have been so bad on zulily!!! So, so, bad!! (Just popped over (2 hrs ago) to check on the leggings and my size is gone. But managed to buy some other things....again!) It just feels so nice to finally be able to buy something other than sweat pants and sweat shirts that fit and look nice on!!0 -
I feel the way our ND feels. I don't want to have to worry about/entertain anyone. I just want DLLP to be able to eat and rest.
Z, I'm having the standard recon: TEs with implants later. I'm going from DDD to B. So I don't get to keep my nips. Plenty of skin, but they've got to arrange it right. I've got to have TEs for a number of reasons. 1. Direct to implant -- not all PSs like that. 2. To get the fill level right -- I don't want them too big. 3. In case they find cancerous cells they didn't know about and I must have rads.
For my PS and my sx it takes three months until exchange sx. So the wedding is the week of 2 March. And then, god help me, there are the nips. There is nip shopping and I must pick out the color, and tissue (projections) or no? 3-D tattoos or no? I can't believe I'm doing this, really.
M, I am allergic to paracetamol. Agree I won't know size, but must have something right after sx, and it's driving me crazy. Birdie, I'd love one of those great fountains for the kitties, wouldn't you?
What's on the coffee table for everyone tonight? And who's cooking for Thanksgiving? Z, in the bag with you for your appt tomorrow at eight. XXX0 -
M, not to demean in any way your situation about Valium, which was very serious, but I can barely drink half a beer, and I am allergic to so many pain meds, and I am soooo not worried about being addicted to pain meds right now! I say, bring on some pain meds!0 -
Bobo, they wouldn't let me wear a bra for 4 weeks after surgery. Ask your PS or their nurse to tell you what they will recommend. I think a lot of women get knitted front opening sports bras several sizes too large and wear those. Ariom talks about wearing shapewear tanks when she goes 1/2 flat. Do you even need a bra with TE's? If they're under your pec muscle, where would they go? Maybe all you need is a Jockey soft tank between you and your top.0 -
Morning all, freezing here this morning! Stayed in most of yesterday, the wind and the rain was excessive. I have listened to the wind roaring all night, and this morning there is salt on the windows.
gB, so glad you like your Marika stuff. I will be sure to let you know when there is a 50% of the clearance area, I check regularly, and always buy more. The prices are just insane, and the styles are exactly the same as the full price stuff!
Bobo, I was told the same, don't lift anything over 5kg, which is a little over 10lbs, considering Dex weighs 10kg, the 5kg isn't much at all.
I agree with the others, you have to get well, before they will even do the surgery. I know there is a lot to finish up, but please try to take it a bit easy. It is all a matter of balance. I know we keep harping on, but please get as much protein in as you can and nutrient dense foods to boost the immune system. Being ready for this is really important, for a good outcome.
I am sorry to hear that you won't have the final boobs for the wedding, but you've come so far now, and know that you'll have what you want soon after!
Did you get the emails about the bras? It looks like there are plenty on the market. I guess it is just a matter of finding what feels comfy. I think everyone who had any node removal will agree that the shape of the underarm is crucial for comfort, but I don't think you're having any removed, are you? So not having that issue is a bonus! Then the next crucial part is the band, and where it sits in relation to where the drains are etc. I would take a guess, that if you really won't go and try some on, I would just take a punt on the band size that you normally wear and a B or C cup. Sorry, but that's all I can come up with.
I hear you about the meds, Bobo. I have the same sensitivity issues, but they make me so F'ing "loopy" and weird, or make me vomit uncontrollably, so avoidance is what's best for me.
Fortunately, I didn't need any for this surgery, so it wasn't an issue. I was told they filled the chest cavity with anti inflammatory medication before closing.
OK lecture over...whew...take care M x0 -
Had a good day. Switched a/d to night. Didn't sleep well last night but napped from 8-11pm. Napped well this afternoon so we'll see what happens. Chest tight and slightly pink below rads area but no other symptoms. Almost halfway there.
Made white chicken chili. Supposed to be 5 ingredients. I used 4 and can't for the life of me remember what I left out. Chicken, beans, broth and salsa verde. Topped with chips and avacado. Kids not thrilled with it. But quick and easy.
It's 25 degrees here for the high. I thought it would be cold but I have a really warm hat. Took the kids outside and played with the kittens.
I'm taking sister schuberts rolls and making a jello salad for Thursday at my sisters. DH will cook a turkey for us either Friday or Saturday.
Any Black Friday shoppers?0 -
Hi Zills, glad to see you aren't having too rough a time with the Rads, and that you are half way there!
Sounds like you've got all the food covered. I like the sound of that White Chicken Chilli!
What is a Black Friday Shopper? M x0 -
Ariom,
Can you please tell me which web site has the great prices on Marika? I love it but not at the high retail prices !!! THANK YOU !!!0 -
Fiaranch1, Hi there, Welcome!! Sorry you had to join us but you'll find us a great bunch of ladies to hang out with!
zulily.com is where I have been getting my Marika things. Just type Marika in the search box and it will take you to about 165 items they still have available. The event ended awhile ago so sizes are limited. Ariom goes to the Marika site itself and waits for 50% off clearance items for good pricing. I tell you I'm loving my Marika purchases!!0 -
grammaB,
Perfect thanks so much !!0 -
Hi Fiaranch, Welcome!
gB is right, I buy from the "Marika" website. They have 30% off full price and sale stock at the moment, with a free arm band, phone holder as a gwp.
I wait till they have 40% or 50% off their clearance area, so I pay approx $10.00 for the $60.00 pants, $9.00 for their $50.00 sports bras, which I love with a weighted foob inside. The T shirts go down to about $5.00 and I bought all my jackets for about $20.00 or under.
Happy shopping!0 -
Welcome friaranch1! glad you found us, we are a crazy bunch for sure.. but we have everyone's back through it all! best bunch of ladies and advice i have ever met in my whole life!
Zills, half done already/ how wonderful! glad you are doing ok, your naps sound great to me. just wish i could sleep one night through, like I could do when I was younger!
Ariom.. a black friday shopper is the day after Thanksgiving and all stores have blow-out sales, store open early and people actually camp out in front of a certain store that is selling something they really want for much less $$. Personally I have never got caught up in it, my dil loves to go out early, and i offer to keep the girls! crowds are horrendous and people pushing to get what they want, frankly i would pay more $$ to avoid it! shopping online is much easier on the bod!! I had to chuckle to myself when i saw you say "torch", when my grandsons came home from England they called our flashlights torches!! and when I saw it again memories flooded back!
We are heading to oldest son's in Wisconsin tomorrow and be back on next Sunday, I have been baking a few favorites for the boys and hubby caught a bunch of fish (the ice is frozen enough to ice fish already) but not drive on it. so we will be having a fish fry one night there. Beautiful day here today tho. Will try to check in later in the week.
Any word from gtgirl anyone?0 -
Hi ndgirl! Thank you for the explanation! oooh more shopping@
I try to remember the difference in names for things I used to work for an American Airline, so I am used to sweater/jumper etc. Torch, I didn't think of. We had a lot of laughs when we first got together here, I can't remember if you were here, but the difference in "fanny pack" had me in hysterics. Fanny has a totally different meaning over here!
Have a wonderful safe trip to Wisconsin, and enjoy yourself with the family! M x
Still no news from gtgirl, I hope she's ok!0 -
Just saw ndgirl has posted on the Nov surgery thread, so she is home and doing ok!0
