Ariom so sorry you are having a flare up. Hope it passes quickly and you can get back to life as "normal". (Whatever that is!)
Spookiesmom, always sad to hear of another Angel. I didn't know her, but send prayers for her and her family.
ldesim, I have to rein myself in sometimes when I go overboard with the online shopping. I feel great, but somehow I just can't get back into the groove of working (getting items listed in my ebay store) and I so need to do that to pay my bills. But I seem to have no energy to work, the thought just tires me out.0 -
Spookiesmom, sorry to hear about another angel, prayers to family.
Ariom, so hope this new bump in the road will not last long, take it slow and easy, dont think that is easy for you is it?? I love hearing about your fashion choice present and past!! keep them coming! I still wish I could lose a few pounds but maybe the weight is "pushing out the wrinkles"! Had the tv on a few days ago and I Love Lucy was on and she and Ethel were trying to get Lucy down a few pounds to get into a size 12!! I had to chuckle because now days that is considered too big! some of these stick skinny models look starved! Like they need a cheeseburger!
This weekend our church is packing Christmas boxes for Operation Christmas Child to send to needy children so better get busy... oh by the way Christmas lites are going up today because it is quite nice again today and the bells are already up but not plugged in just yet!0 -
Sorry you're not feeling well M. Yes I can plug my vacuum in the hall and do the entire house except by the kitchen sink. I'm spoiled.
It's supposed to be pretty here too on Sat. Rain on Sun. Maybe play at the neighbors house. They have a granddaughter between my two and two of those battery powered cars. Boy loves to drive them.
Baby stayed home again today but feels better. Told her we had to go pick up her brother. She comes down the hall with a purse, a phone and a necklace!0 -
Good Morning all from sunny down under!
Thank you for the well wishes, feeling hung over today, which is the norm after a flare. I have one of Colin's attendants coming to get her makeup done for the big fashion parade today. So glad I didn't offer to do all the models this year, my hand is a bit stiff, still,
ndgirl, you are so right about the wrinkles. As soon as you drop the weight the face starts to sag and the wrinkles make themselves too obvious. I spent my whole life as a size 8/10 in Aus, which is 6/8 in the US. I am 5'7" and it was a really comfortable weight for me. After 50, I went on a higher dose of Cortisone, for this bloody RA, and it all changed. For the first time in my life I had weight issues. In saying that, I don't want to ever go back to my slimmest size because of the wrinkles issue, I'd rather have a bit of fat on my face, but I would love to just drop about 6kg and stay there.
Enjoy your packing the Christmas boxes, what a wonderful worthwhile thing to do...Take care M x0 -
Zills, that little girl is precious!! Glad she is feeling better! How cute! She was all dressed up to go out. Did you have your phone handy? Did you get a pix?
Ariom, glad you're feeling better!
ndgirl, sounds like fun packing up Christmas boxes! What a kind thing to do. I'm thinking you are going to see some of this bad weather that is going to hit us this weekend unless it turns up into Canada. The worst of it is passing to the north of me but we will see inches of snow on the valley floor.
I got a message in my email this morning from zulily. All of my Marika things shipped to me yesterday!! So in about a week they will be here!! I was very happy to hear that. Don't know about the other things, but glad the Marika will be here soon! I am trying to stay away, but I swear that site is like crack!! I see that if you place an order now you get free shipping on more orders all the way through Sunday midnight!! Must stay away....must stay away.....must.....0 -
Glad you are feeling a bit better M, is there anything that triggers that or is it just random? I will have to get your autograph now that you are a refrigerator pinup star
I agree with you gals about the wrinkles..thinner women always seem to look older.. especially if they insist on tanning on top of it.
GB, I am laughing over the crack comment.. looks like you'll have to work a little harder in your store to support your addiction I feel the same way about everything, just can't seem to kick into gear. I have spurts of my old energetic self.. but they don't last too long. No wonder my ears have been ringing, you must still be cussing me out
Zils, how sweet is she... that must have put the biggest smile on your face.. it did on mine. All dressed up to get her brother.. what a fantastic sister You hanging in there with the rads? You have the weekend to rest the skin, although I would have rather ticked two more days off personally!
That must be one F'ing long vacuum cord. I have the smallest of houses and I still have to unplug to do the whole first floor.
Ndgirl, Operation Christmas Child sounds like a wonderful thing. Supposed to be a mild weekend here too... I have lots of leaves waiting for me and I am actually looking forward to raking... I just have to make it a point to stop and rest every couple of hours or so.0 -
gB, I loved the crack comment too. Isn't it amazing how they contact you with little teasers to keep you shopping, just like a dealer!Glad to hear you'll be comfy in your Marika sooner rather than later!
ldesim, I am a weird one with the Rheumatoid. The weather doesn't trigger me, but emotions do. Mostly "Sad". If I have a time of feeling sad, I am sure to get a bad flare. My neighbor died last week, she fell in her bathroom and struck her head. It really got to me, such a silly thing to take a life. I always try to hold back that emotion, but this one really got to me.
I agree with the F'ing long vacuum cord, I am lucky to get around one bedroom without changing plugs!
I am sorry you're not feeling totally up to speed ldesim, but it is still such early days for such a big surgery and all that treatment you've had. I know we all want to just put it all behind us and be back to where we were, but it's tougher on the body than we really know. You've had the added burden of working and all the stress that goes with that. I think you've done remarkably well!
I know we all like to get into our garden and do the heavy work, but it is really harder than we think. I know the leaves were my "Nemesis" this Fall. They incited the "Claw" like nothing else has, so please take it easy, and take those rests.
Have fun, but take care!
The big fashion parade is on at the Cruiser Club today and one of Colin's attendants is a model. I did her makeup this morning after we got Colin up. She is doing a Marlena Dietrich look with top hat and tails, so I got pictures of Marlena and copied the makeup with chiseled cheek bones, red lips, and smokey eyes. I enjoyed it, and she was thrilled. I was going to go to the parade, it's a big social event here, but I thought my sore joints would make me fidget too much. I am going to have another day on the couch.
I went to the small outdoor produce market this morning and found home grown garlic, huge free range eggs, and sweet potatoes and would you believe, more fudge! I bought a free range chicken and will have bruschetta (sp) with the fresh basil and red onion...yum!
Have a good evening girls...M x0 -
Ariom, I am so glad you are feeling better. Take as long as you need to be up and about again.
I am so excited to get all my Marika gear! I just hope everything fits! I have been buying clothing at the thrift shops for about a year as I was losing weight and now my body has changed yet again. I think I have hit my stasis point so I am really happy to actually get new clothing! This has been a challenging summer but hopefully I am on the mend now and can rebuild my closet with clothing that fits my new body.0 -
Hi gB, I would be very surprised if you didn't like the Marika stuff. It's so easy to wear and care for. I found the tops to run small, but I have to fit a prosthesis in there, so I buy the XL in the tops and T Shirts, but I go for smaller sizes in the capris and yoga pants.
Take care! M x0 -
Congrats GrammaB. I too have been getting stuff at the op shop. Hope my marika fits. The zip up fleece I bought yesterday are a little snug so will exchange them.
NDgirl. The boys school is doing Operation Shoebox this year. His class is also collecting pjs. I need to unearth from the closet the ones I bought last year on clearance. The kids love to dig in the closet.
I have an appetite today and at least breakfast tastes good:) DH made me breakfast in bed. Good thing he made extra as I had two monkeys helping me.
Idesim. When you get thru cleaning, stop on by! Don't overdo with the leaves. I was awake at midnight and did dishes and some laundry. Floors and bathrooms to be done. Toys everywhere! Need to drag out baby clothes for the next size and donate all the old ones.
Bobo. Hope you get to rest this afternoon. We're eating out of the freezer to make room for the turkey. It's cheaper to get one now for Christmas.
Wren. How was the dinner?
Granwe. You cooking next week? I need to look up my grandma's recipe for pumpkin pie.
M. Hope you are continuing to feel better. I can imagine how you felt about losing your neighbor. We've all had our fill of funerals this year.
Enjoy your potentially last day of warm weather. Supposed to be windy here. Have put the umbrella up and unhooked the faucets. Don't really put up lights. May drape some over the bushes but usually not out at night to see it.0 -
I am here! Working. People talking at me right now. Taping video. XXX0 -
So glad you are feeling a little better M! Yes, go go boots picture on the fridge. XXX0 -
Good Morning to you all. I have just woken to the most divine day!
The sun is shining, just a slight breeze and the water looks like glass from where I sit. There are 2 yachts and a few kayaks leaving a lazy trail across the water.
I feel much better this morning, so Dex and I will go for a big walk after I have breakfast and do the Rites.
You've got me smiling Zills! I am so thrilled to hear you have some appetite today and you've got breakfast in bed! Even better, you've got the children in there with you to "share" breakfast! Wonderful!
Good Grief Bobo, isn't it Saturday? you're working again? What's the video?
Colin is laughing at you having my picture on the fridge!
I will check back later....M x0 -
OMG, Z, that is so precious about the baby's purse phone and necklace! ND, so sweet, packing the Christmas boxes for the children. So glad you are getting your lights up! Now that's the spirit!
Just finished working. Well, I'm not exactly finished. Yes, started at 6:40 a.m.! Taping these videos for the students. They're designed (and written, and produced) by me to teach them things they've never been able to learn before. Just found out my boss is up for promotion -- his boss told him to take my project in with him to the faculty board!! This does not feel good.
Reading along, then responding. This is my reward for getting my work done.0 -
Spookiesmom, I did not know Veggie, but -- I know this sounds funny -- I have heard of her. I 'hear' others speak about her on the threads. I am so sorry for your loss. For everyone's loss. XOXOXO0 -
I love that picture of M on my refrigerator! She is tricked out in full mod gear, complete with go-go boots, hand on hip, staring imperiously into the camera. I told her I am looking for a certain frame for that picture, but meantime, it is on my fridge. And I like it there! You're such a fluffy bad a$s! I don't know about this 'pushing out the wrinkles' thing, but I do remember -- I think it was Isabella Rossellini -- saying that after a certain age a woman must make a choice between her face and her ass.
M, I am so sorry about the sadness that triggered your flare. I am sorry about your poor neighbor, that is a tragedy. Oh, I wonder how her family is doing. Z, I smiled and smiled to 'see' you eating breakfast with your monkeys! Your DH is on my good list! And that's where he should stay.
Well, my brother is now in the care of his new girlfriend, who is adorable, by the way, I just met her, and she has a BABY! Two years old! Can't remember if I've told you. I'm knackered. Idesim, did you get the claw from all that raking?
Truth is I am running out of time before the end of the semester and my sx. Grades are due, and student conferences, and there is Christmas, and I've got projects that must be finished by then, and pre-op appts, and I am just doing everything I can to get it all done. Oh, and Thanksgiving. Stupid Thanksgiving, it is not my favorite holiday.
How is Boris? Looking for a Boris update. Bobo missed me so much when I was gone. When I got home he did not jump. He just lowered his face into my skirt, and hummed a little, and took deep breaths. And then later, when I was in bed, he bit me and bit me like a puppy!0 -
Promised myself I wouldn't over do it today.. but I did.. almost didn't make it back in the house because I developed such a stitch in my side and it wouldn't go away. It was SO gorgeous out so on the one hand I am so happy I took advantage of the day. Got a good deal of raking done, got a big pile of branches broken up and trimmed the bushes. Joe's been at his brother's house all day and it was nice to just be by myself. Cereal with blueberries on the coffee table tonight as no sense cooking just for me!!! Going to relax on the sofa and watch my Masterchef AU episodes after I fold this last load of laundry. Tomorrow's going to be overcast, so I'll catch up with what you gals have been up to then.
I came on to share this, figured you'd all agree with it0 -
Oooh. I love my new sign.
I knew you would overdo it with the leaves, I! Although your day sounds like it was glorious.
What is it about the leaves? Can't you get one of those blower things? Do those work? And if they do, why doesn't everybody have one? I have not cracked leaves yet.0 -
F yes! I believe that!
ldesim, what is it about the garden that makes us take it to the limit? I do it too!
It is so satisfying to get it all done and dusted. Then we have to spend hours on the couch to recover:)
Whoa there Bobo, just back up for a moment. We didn't know about the girlfriend or the 2 year old, so glad he has someone else to look after him now. I love the reaction from Bobo, on your return, my Dexter has to give me an eye scan, which is gentle sniffing along the eyelash line, and then a wet snort at the end!
Please explain the Boss's promotion and your project, I am not understanding, is he saying it is his own? What's the deal here?
The blower thingy is good for leaves under furniture on a paved area, but not so good for leaves scattered around the garden. You need to rake those, and if you have a fair size garden, or neighbors with big Oak and Maples, like my neighbors, it can be a massive job. I am pretty sure I hit the "50" large garden rubbish bags this Autumn. I am still sweeping up Oak leaves, and I don't have an Oak tree!
Dex and I went for a great walk this morning. We went to Sunset Cove, and then back to the yacht club where Colin was having lunch with some of his yachty friends. We went to check on the boat, but Dex was scared witless by another Swan, so I had to carry him!
I met Mary, my massage therapist, who had just been out on a yacht as part of the "Come and try" sailing day, so she came home with me and we had lunch. We sat in the sun and had crusty bread rolls with stuff from the garden and chicken in them. It was lovely! Wish I could have you girls over for lunch:)
Time for a nanna nap...chat later! M x0 -
Idesim, love that sign, and yes I do believe that is so true, the young man that works at our local grain elevator in town, has the worst mouth you ever heard, I do have to tell him to cool it when the grand kids are here, but he is the best, caring, helpful guy ever! Would do anything for anyone and never ask anything in return!
Zills, your little darling is priceless, ready with purse, etc. how sweet. Love the closet.. I always buy clothes etc, for my little gdaughters, put them in a closet and am quite surprised when I go to look for something! I usually forget what I bought, good thing I have 3, if size missed one hopefully the next can benefit! Glad your appetite is returning to some degree.. keep up the good work.
Ariom, I cant tell you how jealous I am of you watching yachts, living by the water, eating garden stuff! Well enough dreaming for me, winter will be here soon so I will live thru your warm stories for a few months. sorry about your friend, how sad. About the leaves.. could you mow and mulch them, they are good fertilizer for the lawns? sounds like a lot of work, we have so much wind here they blow everywhere, but we try to mow them and mulch, but everyone does their own thing with lawns and garden.
Bobo, what is up with boss and job? sounds fishy to me.0 -
We have lots of leaves but they're too wet to mow. Plus we only have a push mower anyway. We have compost piles and the city has yard waste pickup, so they go there. Everything possible is recycled here. We have recycling pickup every other week for paper, plastic, cans, and plastic bags. Yard waste is picked up every week and kitchen scraps go in there along with food soiled paper. Stores must have recyclable containers for food and drinks. Most coffee shops and restaurants have containers for sorting next to the wastebasket. Stores aren't allowed to have plastic bags and charge 5 cents for paper.
Bobo, be on the alert about your boss. Boris arrives tomorrow evening. He is on eye drops once a day, so easy peasy. I think we won't let him into the bedroom because it's not heated. Our attic was finished off to be bedrooms and it has baseboard heat which I don't trust, so it's only on occasionally.0 -
Hi ndgirl, I wish you could be here right now! It is late afternoon and there are a few yachts out on the water. It hasn't cooled down yet, but the wind has picked up. There are Pelicans right outside. I have been sitting watching for an hour or so, I never tire of it.
The massive volume of the leaves make it impossible to mow them in. They are really big leaves too. The trees next door a massive, huge old things, beautiful to look at, but so annoying to have to clean up. My neighbors don't live here, just use it for weekends and Holidays. They have a gardener, but she doesn't rake them. so they end up in here and the garden of the house on the other side. I think they are oblivious to it, even though they have seen me, when they were here, filling bag after bag with their leaves! We have super strong winds too, so we don't stand a chance with the leaves coming in here. I guess it could be worse....M x0 -
Hello M!
Boy just woke up. "Mommy will you get the mometer and check my numbers? Do I have to throw up since I'm shaking?"
His temp is 101.3 and he's chilling because he left his warm "nest". I think this is different from what the baby had. I also think he had too much exposure to me throwing up this summer.
Supposed to have breakfast with a girlfriend in the morning. Will need coffee for sure. And a nap. Didn't get one today but did rest.
We don't have too much trouble with leaves. More branches from the weeping willow, pine needles and sweet gum balls. However we live on a hill and most get blown away. Also our trees are only about ten years old.0 -
Oh Zills, I am sorry you're up in the early hours again, but a sick little man is a good reason. Does he have any other symptoms? I hope he can sleep it off and you can go out with your girlfriend for breakfast!
l am glad you don't have any leaves because you'd be as bad as the rest of us with the raking, for sure!
Take care M x0 -
Good Morning everyone, another beautiful day here. I have nothing planned for today, so maybe a potter in the garden or a long walk with Dex.
I hope everyone is OK, it's a quiet morning here. Zills, I hope you got to go out with your friend, Bobo, I hope you got some rest. ldesim, how are you holding up after the leaf raking? gB, I hope you had the some more quiet time, and are feeling better. ndgirl and wren, what are you two up to?
Take care everyone..I will check back later...M x0 -
ldesim, love the sign too!! I got as many of my leaves raked a few weeks ago because I know once they get wet it is a real pain to do anything with them. The last two mornings I've woken to snow on the ground but it melts by mid afternoon. The remaining leaves are plastered to the grass and will be until Spring now.
bobo, I get tired just reading all the things you have to do. Glad you duty with your brother is over, you still have so much to do. I wish I could help you, I'm worried you are going to be really run down by the time of your sx. Yes, curious here too re the boss and your project.....
Wren, looking for a Boris report here too!
Zills, sorry to hear the boy isn't feeling well. Gosh, you guys seem to pass things around like crazy. Guess that is just one of the drawbacks of young kids in school, they bring every bug home to share with the family!
Basically having a very quite weekend. It is cold and damp/snow outside so I am nestled in the recliner by the fire. My cat alternates between my lap and his pillow in front of the fire. I have to admit to a little more retail therapy at zulily but after today, I am staying far away. Got some kitchen things, a nightgown, thermal leggings, a zip hooded sweater (to replace one I loved that I lost at the airport) and a pair of hoop earrings (to replace a pair that I lost one of). Am done! Will not even open their daily emails any more!!
I just can't seem to shake this feeling of lethargy, of not wanting to do anything....I need to work but I just can't seem to get to it. I don't know if this is depression rearing its ugly head again, or the general numbness from all that I have been through these past few months. I sure hopes it passes soon, I am going to miss any Christmas business on eBay that might come my way......
Hugs to all!0 -
I did not get some rest! Did all the shopping, threw football party for the kids, and now I'm working on this special project! It's deadline this week. Plus, flea patrol! Edward was crawling with fleas! And Miguel had a few. Flea combed them, bathed them both, and bobo will get a bath too.
Everyone, I am not "watching out" at all for this thing with my boss, because it is happening, straight up, and there's nothing I can do. The bigger boss told him to do it. The boss called me and told me -- right after that meeting. He's going to do it. It's the American way. It's unfair -- I'm not even being paid on time, and I work many more hours that I am paid. But bosses have taken credit for work done by their inferiors since God was a boy. I told my boss he has eighteen months to make it right, and then I'm going to start to look for a proper job.
It hurts, yes. Since they're my projects, and since I work myself silly. The projects don't exactly feel like children, but close to that. But, you know, F it. My projects are designed to have a direct impact on student learning. And they are smashing. We've attracted the attn of the "underdean." They can't take the learning my students are doing away from me.
DLLP made broccoli soup for dinner -- it's delicious! Just getting a last bit of work set up for tomorrow. PS pre-op meeting on Friday -- full metal jacket description of events, then on to the college to lecture as if nothing has happened. What's the appt roster for this week? Must get my ducks in a row. XXX0 -
Z, how is our little man? And did you get to have that lunch? And did he throw up? So terrible when the children are sick. XXX0 -
Holy crap! I hate those jerks! How can those guys, in all good conscience, take the credit for your work. It just isn't right! I know it happens here too, but it is just so, well, gauche! Don't you think?
I worry about you, Miss Bobo, taking on so much, now a football party, what's that about??????
I will be there on Friday for the pre op meeting. I am on a "need to know" what will be happening!
Take care now...I am just back from a big walk and am going to bath Dex while he's subdued and tired! M x0 -
Bobo, agree they are jerks, guess that is how things work but shouldn't. Also will be with you on Friday appt. you have a strong band behind you here!
Ariom, heard on morning news about an albino kangaroo being spotted and showed pics of it... so have you seen it?? maybe it will come for a visit?? news anchor said it is amazing it has survived because no protective coloring to hide from predators. Now that I have a friend in AU their news is more interesting.
Zills, how are the kids and you now? yes little ones have a way of sharing every germ dont they? the 3 grandgirls seem to be sick alot, pick up germs at school and daycare and share!! Hope things are better soon and you get your needed rest.
We got our Christmas Child shoeboxes packed and our little parish did 120! that is amazing for our small parish! Feeling pretty proud, hope it brings a little joy to the children, sometimes this is the ONLY new things these kids ever get. Makes me feel good inside. Regardless of anyone's religion it is a good cause.0
