02 and Glennie, I hope you are both feeling better! Cramps and spasms, I am sorry for you both.

Z, I hope the boy is better and the homework time is improving!

We had a beautiful day here, sunny and warm. I took Dex for a big walk and then I spent the day trying to clean up around the painters. Stripping the Cedar front doors turned out to be the best idea ever, they came up a treat. I have no idea why the previous owners painted over them, but they are back to the way they should be now. The render will be finished tomorrow, but the  tiling wont be done for another 10 days or so. Nearly there! M x

O2, glad you are home and feeling better.

My cramps got somewhat better when my period started but they are still a misery. Seriously this is the worst ever. I'm ready to have my HX right now!!  5 weeks to go,,,  *sigh**  Why am I 55 1/2 and still having this????

Zills:   how is everyone feeling?  Hope everyone is on the mend.

M:  so nice to hear about your day!!  You know we will be expecting pictures when the work is done!!

Glennie, I can relate. When they told me I needed the hx, it was all I could do to avoid standing up and cheering. I was afraid they might think me too unstable if I did that or I would have.

M, I can't imagine painting lovely cedar doors either. I'm glad the stripping worked out well. Cedar is such a beautiful wood. Yes, pictures!

Zills, Bribery might work with the boy. After all, when you do it with dogs it's called training.

Painting over lovely wood,,, ugh,,,,  I have a lovely cherry wood desk that had belonged to my Grandma.  It is beautiful North Carolina furniture. There are scatches and so forth, but it's at least 70 years old and well made. Has some lovely carvings on it. When one of my neighbors saw it, she said she would paint it cuz the wood was too dark for my office!  I was horrified!!

    Bribery,, training,,,, tomato, to-mah-to,,,

    Hi everyone!

Glennie and O2  sending healing wishes your way. O-the arimidex isn't contributing to any of that? Glennie-cherish that desk, sounds beautiful.

Wren  so I need to trade the "I'm going to get my paper" for bribery, heh?  I think having three yellow lab mixes (rescues) is keeping me young…or at least keeping me in shape chasing after them to remove various items from their mouths,  and possibly driving me insane! lol

Shopping alert!!!!……I was at Macy's today, they are having an unbelievable sale on swimwear. I got 2 Ralph Lauren tankinis for $20…..orginal price was $185.  Got a third tankini for $19. Two of them have openings for padding or my case a swim form, the other one I can sew pocket.  They had tons for $9.99 each, saleslady said they want it all gone…to bring in the winter coats. One of them could pass for a camisole under a jacket. So you might want to check them out if you have a good Macy's nearby.  I can just hear Ariom on those deals, don't think you have Macy's down there?

Zills no darn homework…..one perk of being an adult. As a kid, those summer breaks from homework and school were so easy to love!

    ND  ((hugs))

Wow, Helenna,,, that's a sale !!!  Good going!!

Tomorrow I plan on cleaning up all the paperwork in the office. I'll try to take a pic of the desk after it's cleaned off. It's kind of buried at the moment.  Insurance papers,, UGH!!

Morning all! Oh Helenna, you are a bad influence on me!!! I have just been on the Macy's site and they have $19.95 flat rate postage to Australia...WooHoo! I will be back there later to do some serious trolling of that site for bargains! Thank you I think!Shocked

Glennie, I am glad your pain is a little bit better. I remember being so P'd off when I had an ectopic pregnancy in my early 30's, I had both fallopian tubes removed and the Gyn left the rest. I told him I would have preferred it all to be gone as I had also had a very close call with Cervical ca a few years earlier. As it turned out I went through menopause at 38, all done by 43!!

I would like to see the desk too. I take pics of everything, before and after, so I will gladly show the finished pics if anyone is interested. It feels like we are on the home stretch now and the whole reno is coming together as we planned it before this stuff got in the way!

Hugs to everyone, I hope you're all having a nice relaxing Friday evening. M x

Glennie, I can't even imagine getting my desk that uncluttered. Yours is very attractive and it's a good idea to cover the top with glass. We have it on our bedside tables. The chair is amazing. Definitely never paint wood that attractive.

beautiful! And so jealous. Mine is probably 3" deep! The baby is making messes faster than I can clean. Excluding potty training!

Trying to get everyone ready for a wedding tonight. Boy started gymnastics today. I did yoga and treadmill. Not a pretty sight trying on all those dresses yesterday.

Yes I know everyone will be looking at the bride. I'll be hot (literally) in the 90+ heat, chasing kids. The reception is outdoors. The last outdoor reception had a/c tents and an Italian menu. Yum!

    O2. Good to be home?

Wrenn:  I have 3 desks!  That one is the best of the lot.  My work desk is not too bad, but the desk that my personal computer is on,,, is a complete disaster. Was so pleased with the clutter removal on Grandma's desk,, that I was thinking tomorrow I would tackle the other one.  I was so stunned when she suggested painting it. They don't make stuff like this anymore!!

Zills:  I can't imagine trying to keep a house clean with kids. The dog tracks in enough dirt alone!  I hope you have a great time at the wedding and that it is not too hot!

    Hello everyone!

Paint that desk? What was that woman thinking? It's beautiful, as is that chair. Some people just don't have the feel for beautiful things. We just had a similar conversation over the Cedar doors, they aren't old cedar, the house was built in the 80's, but the way the timber was matched is just lovely and I don't know what possessed  the previous owners to pint them. The other doors we have left painted, because it is just a mammoth job, to strip and finish them, not cheap either!

I was out in the little studio last night setting it up. I love it, I will enjoy using that little room. The sun is out and bright this morning, supposed to be mild all week. I have a car boot sale to go to this morning.

02, I hope you're feeling better, and Glennie, I hope the cramps are easing off. Where is Bobo, I haven't heard a word, I hope all is well at the tiny house. Maybe MD has made a surprise visit.

Zills, I hope the Wedding is a lot of fun and the food is something you'll enjoy.

    Take it easy everyone..M x

Thank you, M.  The cramps got somewhat better once my period started, but there is still a lot of discomfort. Wondering if one of the fibroids is "dying" or something. I've read that they can lose their oxygen supply and die,, and that causes pain.  I simply can't wait to get the HX!!  I wish I could say this is my last period, but since my surg is 5 weeks away,, there will probably be one more.

I did get the office organized today.  Papers are filed or thrown away.  Doctors organized by different notebooks, so when I'm going to see Dr. A,, I grab that notebook.  When I think of a question for Dr. B,,, I write it in that notebook. It probably sounds insane, but I have so much going on, and I feel so stressed that it is the only way I can cope and stay somewhat organized.  My BFF is taking me to the movies tomorrow. She thinks I need a distraction, and I am sure I do!

Striping off paint is tedious hard work! Not fun at all. I just can't imagine why someone would paint over lovely wood (as opposed to ugly wood) but different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

Massive thunderstorm here.  Saw huge lightning flash outside my kitchen window. Power flickered but came right back.

Got text from Bobo.  Her power is out due to storm.  Reports that she is working her 2 jobs again this week. Bobo-dog doesn't like storm and is barking. Will check in with us when she can.

Glennie, You might want to call the doc doing the hx and report the severe cramping. Maybe she'll move your surgery up. Take your temperature. My appendicitis felt like cramps for 2 days before it moved to the front.

O2 - Glad to hear you are home.  Are these existing symptoms or could they possibly be caused by the Arimidex?  I ask simply because I am trying to convince myself to try and start taking it.  The thread here on BCO for Arimidex is pretty much gloom and doom.  Depression, bad bones, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, thin hair and general aches and pains.  Yeah.. I am having a hard time taking that first pill.

Glennie -    I had my HX almost 4 years ago.  You will love not having periods.  Hoping your last period forever is a mild one.

Zills -  How was the wedding reception?  Did you dance?  I bet your kids had a great time...kids always seem to have more fun than the adults at wedding receptions.

I've been busy these past couple of weeks.  Took the daughter to an amusement park last week.  So much walking!  Then the skies opened up and poured on us just as we were about to leave.  I think getting drenched was the highlight for the girls.  They seemed to love it... the moms.. not so much... but I am proud to say that I did not complain!

We have had so much rain lately.   I am really tired of walking in the rain and getting wet even with an umbrella.  Soaking wet feet/sandals...I hate that feeling.   We went to a baseball game last night and it was supposed to rain again.  Luckily, it held off and what started out as a very humid night turned into a great time at the ball park (with fireworks at the end).  I always fret before these outings..not sure why that is.. but once I'm out and about I have a good time.  Left to my own devices, I would be a hermit.

That's about it for me.  Getting geared up for the school year... lots of driving to and from school that kind of drives me insane, but I'll get through it.  Daughter has all her school clothes and supplies, so we are ready.   Tomorrow is another crazy day with DD's violin recital, then later we have a going away party for a friend of mine's daughter...and somewhere in between all this DD is playing tennis...twice.  I am really looking forward to having most of next week off to do nothing.

PRB, I've been on Arimidex for over 2 years with almost no side effects. I think the ones having a horrible time are more likely to post. Sometimes I wonder if I'm metabolizing it, but I've seen others say they haven't had any SE's either. I decided I would give it a try and stop if it was unbearable. I haven't even had to switch to another AI.

Thanks Wren.  I know you're right..and I need to at least try it.  My one year anniversary is coming up and my MO hasn't really pushed me... so I haven't felt a sense of urgency.  One question I do have is... if my bones deteriorate, is it reversible after you go off the Arimidex?

PRB……I've just been on Arimidex for 1 month, no side effects at all….sure hope its working as I don't feel anything from it. I'm on the generic for now as I didn't know you could get it by mail from the manufacturer.  I am quite active…swimming during summer months, and with my yellow labs I am so active with playing ball, frisbee, just running around with them in the yard throwing sticks, etc. Everyone needs a rescue dog to stay active!

On the topic of bras, hoping my order comes in this week. You guys may find it interesting that I went in to a different boutique this week to see their swim forms, the gal measured me and she came up with one size SMALLER in the band, and one size LARGER in the cup than the other boutique I visited! And one to two sizes smaller in the prosthesis, go figure.

So it is not black/white in the sizing apparently, humans doing the measuring so it won't necessarily be consistent among fitters I assume. I am just using their numbers as a guide and going with what I believe is best for me by feel and visual. On the Tru life weighted form 611 Ariom suggests, I am going to order online and go two sizes down from the enormous size the second fitter came up with.

    xoxo

Helenna, this is so true. Different fitters will fit you differently. I went from 36C to 34D between fitters. The 34 band size seems to suit me better. You really do have to go by what feels best to you.

I thought my foob was too large, so I went back.   The fitter had me try one size down and it looked too small.  The actual 'cup' area looked fine, but the area around it, especially on the side,  looked lacking.   I would imagine the style of foob has something to do with it too.  I have the "old lady" sagging model. lol   It looks really natural and I'm pretty happy with it.

Thanks Helenna for the encouraging words about Arimidex.  I signed up with the company and have a 3 month supply.  I go through spurts where I am pretty active, and then other times I am fairly lazy.  I work full time and have to cart my 12 year old around..so while I'm busy, it's not necessarily aerobic activity!  I do plan on trying to get more physically fit this year.   It's strange..now that it's been a year I feel a little more motivated to take better care of my health.  I read the boards and see women doing all the right things like exercising, not eating sugar etc and I have to admit that I have been anything but 'good' about improving my lifestyle.  I think it has taken me this long to accept the new 'normal' and it's time to get on with it.  Seriously, when I was first diagnosed I went around telling people "well if I'm going to die, damn it ... I'm eating cake!".    And eat cake I did..and anything else that I wanted.  Self-pity really helps justify bad eating!   Anyone one else here need to lose weight?  Maybe we can do this as a team and see how much weight we can lose before the new year.

PRB  You, me and O2 starting Arimidex about the same time……so lets do it together! And you deserve a big hug for wanting to change your diet and get healthy, its so important. If I can recommend 1 single thing to help anyone in getting healthy, it is to watch the documentary Forks Over Knives. I know others on this site have raved about it. It really is life changing  in how you eat and see food, and it is so captivating, and uplifting.  I promise!  You can get from Amazon or the FOK website, I think its only about 18.99 but so very worth it!

I am definitely eating better over the last year. I eat much more organic products and more veggies than before BC. My diet is basically low-carb (modified Atkins/Paleo/Primal, whatever you want to call it) because too many carbs sent me on a blood sugar roller coaster. I seem to instantly lose weight with this diet and quickly regain if I start eating bread, etc again. But I'm choosing protein like fish, organic chicken, farm-raised beef, etc.   I do "cheat" occasionally when I eat out but when I am home, that's what I stick to.  I looked at FOK and realize that diet would never work for me,,, too many complex carbs, but everyone has to find what works for them.

My next mission is to check out a good vegan protein source for shakes and some super greens for juices, etc.
