Ninjas suck.
Susan, congrats on your all clear!!! And M, happy dancing for your mammo results! In the bag for Glennie. Understand about the neck. M, so happy also about your wine! PRB, warm biscuits sound so good! I have not been doing too much gluten lately. It seems as soon as I do: goopy eyes and sinus headache.
SGC. You are the man with the plan!!! Would you really send MD goodies to eat in the mail? Along with college roommate! This is brilliant idea. Plus, then my dad will get to eat them -- in front of her if she abstains -- and then also she will puree them in blender!! Am happy and excited for the first time in weeks, I am not kidding. I am going to do it too! Let's see... what shall I send... I think I will send some fresh-baked beer bread (already sliced) and some chocolate chip cookies! The kids can help me make them. This is a brilliant idea.
Okay, everyone who's going to send MD sweets in the mail: PM me for her address! I must say, I relish hearing all of this potty mouth slap talk. Especially from the gracious and lovely ND. That girl has an excellent mouth on her! You guys are boosting my spirits.
Sample conversation:
MD: Oh, I got even more cookies in the mail? Who are they from?
Me: They are from my friends. They just want you to know they are thinking of you.
MD: Well... I guess that's nice.
Me: How is my dad?
MD: He's fine. He's taking a nap. Did you know my iron levels are higher than they've been in months? I've just been to the doctor.
Me: How are the cookies?
MD: I'm not really supposed to eat cookies.
Me: I've got the most supportive friends in the world, don't I?
SGC -- 'yes' on the chiropractor and handing the bill to your husband! I have just hooked myself up with real pt massage therapy. It starts in two weeks. It's going to be every week. My insurance says I have 66 visits left for the year! XXX

66 Visits left for the year??? Awesome!!! (I only get 35 visits for entire year,, and that is all things physical,, PT, chiro, massage,,,, poooo)I love the idea of sending baked goods to MD. I don't really bake,, but I could buy some yummies somewhere and pass them off as home-baked. **evil** Fresh Market actually has really good cookies.
Working tonight,,,,, yes,, it's a holiday but hosptials are 24/7 AND it's a holiday,, so there is holiday pay and I'm all over that. So I'm lurking until midnight EDT.

Good morning everyone, our weather has taken a turn for the worst, just Mother Nature showing us who's boss. It is raining and the temp has plummeted. The painters were due back today for the final bit, which is the fascia board, all the way around the house. It is a huge area to do, the builder is here to replace a bit of rotten timber first, so it won't be finished by the time the guests get here. They arrive this afternoon.
Thanks for the kind words girls, I am so glad that Annual is over!
A couple of Scorpios! Colin is a Scorpio too 11/22 power birthday! He met a friend of mine who is a working Psychic and Numerologist, she did his numbers and said if he hadn't broken his neck, in the Hang Gliding accident, he'd have done it some other way! He is an adrenaline junkie. I didn't need a Psychic to tell me that!
Glennie, I am not familiar with the Oster, either. I can't believe how many different blenders there are, or that we are having the blender "Whizz Off" on this thread! lol
I understand your concern about lying in that position for the Biopsy, I hated that part of the procedure too.
Sgc, I am so sorry to hear about the headache still hanging around, but so pleased the MRI was clear. Are you a big water drinker? I know it may sound silly, but I used to suffer a lot with Migraine and I was always told that even being slightly dehydrated could cause a headache.
I also have a dodgy neck, which gave me an almost permanent, persistent headache for years. I know you won't want to hear this, but my neck injury was actually caused, by a Chiropractor. There isn't a medical modality that I am more against. Not meaning to scare you, but I ended up in the acute Neurological ward for a week, where they wanted to perform a Laminectomy through the front of my neck, to fix the damage done by an experienced well, known Chiropractor. I was fortunate that the ruptured disc that he caused, responded to Steroids and shrunk enough to stop pressing on a nerve. I still have to be careful if I go over a bump in the car or twist my head a certain way.
From then on, I have always used a PT or a massage therapist. My specialist told me that they average 1 or 2 every month in that neurological ward, from bad neck manipulations by Chiropractors. It scares the crap out of me, every time I hear of someone going to a Chiropractor. I would hate to hear of anyone else going through that. It took 2 years to get any real relief, from his mistake.
PRB, I know what you mean about scheduling that Mammo, I couldn't believe how fast it came around and I was nervous, but so glad it is over for another year. I keep telling myself that if anything does turn up, it is going to be very early, that's my only consolation.
Well, the rain is bucketing down now and it is cold. I have to go to the Supermarket and finosh a bit of cleaning before the visitors arrive...catch everyone later! M x

Posting at the same time Bobo, and Glennie. I always check above to see if anyone has posted while I am posting.
I am so pleased you have a PT Massage therapist, that will do you the world of good. I have just done the Dance of the Humpy Back Spider about Chiropractors in my previous post.
You get 66 visits? Gosh, I only get 1/3 refund for 7 and have to pay the rest. It costs $70 a massage! I could have bought a house, on what I have spent on massage for the past 18 years. sigh!
I can't believe how evil we all are about MD, count me in, I will send chocolates! They come in 1 meal serving size, but who can stop at 1? bahahahahah
Glennie, I always did the Holiday shifts for the penalties. It has changed now, but we used to get double time on Sundays, Time and a half for Saturdays and double time and a half for holidays like Christmas day. You could make some serious cash working weekends and over the Holiday breaks.
When I worked for United, I only had 1 Christmas Day off in 11 years! Fortunately our flight left at Midday, so plenty of time to get home, for a late meal.

M: I totally understand your chiro issues. It took me years to see one again after the last guy. This guy I'm seeing now is really amazing. If he had not come SO highly recommended, I would have never gone. What I'll do after he retires,, well, I don't know!! But he has helped me tremendously with my pain issues.Bummer, you have rain when your guests are arriving. And COLD.
OK. f**K,,, just had another person tell me NOT to have this particular radiologist do my biopsy. This woman just told me how she screwed up her biopsy. I have to say, I didn't really want her to do it anyway,,, and now I really don't.
What to do? what to do??

Bobo-better idea. Let's send all the goodies to your dad! That way we are ignoring her and putting temptation in the house at the same time! She won't be able to resist! It is definitely a win-win. I could send a note to him saying I hope he feels better soon. Yes, I am evil!! What do you think?
0 -
Ohhhhhhh SGC that's absolutely wonderful idea!!! Yes! That's it, and hope dad offers to share!!!!!
Bwhahahaha
0 -
M so glad it's over and all clear. If you hadn't gone off on the chiros, I would have. They aren't doctors, and they all should be in jail for malpractice. I don't like them either, can you tell?

I LOVE the idea of sending baked goods to Dad. Excellent.0 -
Boots are on the ground to send sweets to my dad. PM me for the address, any who want to play! Susan, you are a genius. That is just perfect psychology. I'm doing it too! Ooooooh, something to look forward to. And even chocolates coming from AUS? It's just going to be so great. You guys are really cheering me up.
Spookie's evil laugh made be break into a wide smile!
Update. I have been disturbed by the women breaking onto DP's thread (Maybe a dumb flat question). They might be newbies. Still, I worry the posts from them are jarring to our DP as she struggles to go to rads. So I wrote to the Mods, expressing my concerns. They have offered to take DP's thread off of 'active topics' -- a thread goes to active topics when there are posts to it. So -- everyone have that thread as a favorite? Mods are keeping in touch with me to make sure that everyone who wants to get on DP's thread can still get on it.
I just think DP needs a little extra protection right now. XXX

How do I make DP's thread a favorite? (Yes, I am over 50 and haven't a clue because I didn't even have the internet until I was like old! Lol) Keep smiling Bobo-it does my heart good!

Never mind. I just saw the little blue make it a favorite at the top of the page. Damn I have to stop mixing those piña coladas with my wine! BTW the wine zapped my headache, but I think I will have a massage anyhow. It's all DH's fault so he can spring for one. Costs as much as the chiropractor! Have a good one ladies, Susan

Glennie. I am in the bag with you on Wednesday but I am going to stick my hand out so you can hold it ok?
Congrats Ariom on mammon etc. that's one point for our team
Working 12 so see y'all later. Will write more later

going to cancel the biopsy. 3 people telling me NOT to use that person is karma telling me NOT to use that person. Will deal with getting seen by someone else later on.Thanks for the hand, O2, much appreciated.

G. biopsies are no fun even with the right person.
M congrats on the mammo. Hold that baby for me. I told DH I wanted another one. Yes I'm mad. Am looking at black labs instead. Hope to see a couple tomorrow.
PRB. I would love a warm biscuit with honey or blackberry jam. No biscuits in Ireland. My comfort food. Made some last night but didn't taste right.
SCG. There is a Doctor of osteopathy. Not just an md. Can do adjustments. I was charged a regular copay. No chiro ins. Also very leery of chiros. Massages are wonderful. So are pedicures. I have had headaches in the past that were probably chronic stress. Took tramadol for several weeks and they disappeared. Do you take anything for stress like Valium or Xanax?
ND. I think you surprised us all. Glad you're on our side. Don't make momma bear angry.
Bobo. I'll send something. Too hot for blue Mondays, local candy bar. Zucchini bread?
Any ideas for mangoes? Got a dozen for $1.00. Still not quite ripe.
0 -
OMG, Zills, 12 mangoes for a $!!!!!! I am booking my flight!
I love Mangoes, but when they are really ripe, run a bath and eat a mango in the bath, there is nothing quite like it! Messy, but fabulous! Cut the cheeks of the mango and score the flesh so you get squares and freeze some for smoothies, divine with banana and coconut!
I will be sniffing that baby for the next couple of days, oooh you'd like another baby? I love babies, but I love puppies too! Good Luck with whichever you decide on!!!!
An Osteopath, is a much gentler modality. Spookiesmom, we're on the same page about Chiros, they scare me now. I went to that prick for 5 years, before he injured me.
Zills, I thought the same thing about ndgirl! I don't want to get on that wrong side either! You go nd, tell us what you really think!!! LOL
Glennie, I would do the same thing. I am a believer in 3 strikes and you're out! They can't all be wrong about that tech. Don't put it off too long though.
Well done Bobo! I would never have thought of asking to close down the thread, but I agree. People seem to wander in, read the first post and disregard hundreds of posts that have been following the thread, not their fault, they think they are offering good advice.
Hi 02, have a good one at work chat later!
Sgc, have the massage anyway! It will do you good. I had to cancel mine for today because of the visitors coming, but I rescheduled for Friday! M x
0 -
SGC and M, good news for both of you. Still in the bag for whomever is up next. Glennie, do you have a new plan?
Oh nd, I too al still laughing, you go girl, you stick up for our bobo. Spookiesmom also getting fired up, love it. Bobo, I am up for sending your dad some treats! Your MD will think he has a mistress in all ports of call.
Zills, I am gobsmacked that you can get a dozen mangos for $1 ??? Is that normal? Mmmm mangos layered with yoghurt, muesli and raspberries.
M, what has happened to our spring, where did it go already?

Bobo, I am up for sending your dad some treats! Your MD will think he has a mistress in all ports of call.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.. OK, That cracked me up.
Called and cancelled appt. Said I needed to "reschedule" later. Since it is for a biopsy, I expect I'll get a call from someone else later. Too bad.
M: It's the Doctor. She is a radiologist who specializes in mammograms and US's. It's all she does. However, I have heard some not so good things about missed diagnosises, painful biopsies, etc. So this woman called me last night. She's an acquaintance who has been recently diagnosed with BC and she wanted to pick my brain about doctors, etc. So she asked how I was doing and I told her about biopsy tomorrow, and she was adamant: DO NOT LET her do it. She apparently missed her tumor on the mammo,, and the patient herself had to point out to her where it was. She also felt that my BS had botched her biopsy and didn't get the calcifications. I've been reluctant to do this anyway and there has to be a reason for my reluctance. So this just cinched the deal about not having her do it.
I see my MO on the 18th and my GYN for my preop appt on the 23rd, and we will develop a new plan. I'm thinking "2nd opinion" with the other radiologist in town that everyone prefers. And I'll go from there. My GYN actually wanted me to switch over anyway. Since I already had the appt for the mammo, I thought, well, I'll go there one more time and then switch over. Should have listened to the GYN.
And it's not like those microcalcifications were not there last year. And she certainly didn't see any signs of the DCIS that was in my Left breast last year. And it was only after I reminded her that I had DCIS in addition to the Paget's that she decided that I needed a biopsy. So I'm done with her.

What is it about those docs up there? Did they all get their training at Podunk U? For ALL the problems Bobo had, and now you? Ugh! I'd be looking out of town for a doc.
0 -
Those docs don't inspire confidence.
No mangos are typically a dollar apiece. They must not have gone over well here, just trying to move them. They are spotty but not yet ripe. Maybe I could dry them? My friend makes pico with banana and mango. Coconut sounds good.
Having the works pedi. Sugar scrub, massage and we haven't even painted my toes yet. Ready for a nap. Picked some glitter over pink. Thought about an indigo. Can't wait for orange next month with a pumpkin on my big toe!
Has anyone seen the new lays potato chips/crisp flavors? Here it's mango salsa, cappuccino or bacon cheeseburger?
Going to look at labs today. Saw a senior at one. I'd take her but afraid she wouldn't like kids, would die too soon and she's been mentoring a younger one. Wish I could take them both.
Promised the therapist to try neurontin tonight. Bottle says may cause dizziness. Please no! Told to think about what I want my legacy to be. Good mom? Fun? Didn't let FC get me down? Not sure.

Mango salsa sounds good but cappuccino chips sound weird,, did you try them, Z?Good luck with the Labs! Keep us posted.

So happy you are canceling that Dicktor, G, that whole thing did not sound right. And thanks G! Just realized I am also going to bring a pie to my dad. He loves pie. He's going to have apple pie, cookies from me, cookie basked from SGC, surprise from Spookie, surprise from Glennie, choccy from our Ariom! I will be reporting in live from MD's house. MD loves sweets.
Oooh. Can't wait to hear more about the dog situation, Z! So excited. I make a very good mango chutney from my Indian food cookbook. And I second M's two ideas: mango in bath is excellent. I have frozen mango in smoothies often.
I cube up mango and put some in an apple crisp, when I have extra. I just throw it in with the other fruit. What can't you do with mango?
So happy about the pedi, Z. Keep me posted about the neurontin. Susan, osteopath sounds good, but I think you should get a massage with a happy ending. **sound of gleeful laughter** This dessert caper of ours has me in a good mood.

Z: I reply to myself. Zucchini bread sounds great. He also loves panda licorice. Cappuccino potato chips sound gross!

Thanks for all the headache suggestions. I have decided to stay away from the chrio and get a massage. I do have an appt. with my BS on Thurs and will see if she thinks I should go on something for stress. She usually passes the buck and will probably tell me to ask the MO. So I am self medicating with a glass of wine each night! And, yes, I drink liquids constantly! Strangely enough, my headache disappeared today, right after DH went out of town. Humm...I wonder what that means? Lol
Glennie I am glad you decided to find another doctor. I believe in listening to your inner voice and when it says run, you run! There just seems to be so many sh!tty dicktors out there! I can't find a decent PCP! (Tried to find an Osteopath, Zills, but the closest one is one and a half hours away!)
Sent Bobo's dad some goodies today. He should have the delicious brownies and cookies on Monday! I do hope it cheers him up and makes her downright miserable! (Snicker, snicker).
Dawny and M-I hope your spring returns! I know you both are ready for some lovely days. Our hotter than he!! summer sure has! It is hotter this week than most of the entire summer! I know all the kids and teachers are miserable returning today in this heat. (Virginia never goes back before Labor Day. Some silly law that keeps everyone in school until mid June!)
As for flavored chips, that is the last thing I need. I love any kind of chip, but I have gained so much weight that it is scary and try not to indulge! I could eat the entire bag of chips, but cappuccino? I don't think so. Too weird.
Hope everyone is having, or had a good day, S

Heh heh. I'm sending Dad some Nonnies triple chocolate biscottie. My personal favorite.
I think Humanna is trying to kill me. First they kicked my MOs practice out of network. Then they denied my request for a pump for my LE. That's on appeal.
Today I get notice my INSULIN pump company is being dropped Nov1. That was the reason I stayed with them when I hit Medicare. I felt like I took a punch in the gut when I saw that. I admit I'm spoiled, this insulin system is tubeless, has a gizmo that does all the calcs. for me. This is very upsetting.
0 -
ouch! Is nov open enrollment? I'm changing mine.
0 -
it's in the fall, not exactly sure. Oct & Nov maybe? Who do you have, and why would you change?
0 -
That sucks, Spooks.0 -
Big time. They pay $800+ a month for Humalog. I don't know how to do MDI, don't want to learn, am lousy with math. I'd kill myself getting it wrong.
0 -
Sorry for the insurance woes Spookie! Insurance is a pain! Who are they to tell you they won't fund your insulin pump? Incredible! I am on DH's for free as he retired from the fire department under the heart and lung bill due to 2 heart attacks, 5 stents and a pacemaker. (His stents and pacemaker are nearing the 10 year expiration so he will have to have them redone soon.) However his insurance isn't accepted by anyone around here so I "cobraed" to the tune of $580.00 per month with Blue Cross/Anthem. Yes, it is a hefty sum, but no where near the 15k per chemo infusion, or 10k per Herceptin infusion. I don't have any co-pays and everything has been covered. Every test, hospitalization, infusion, blood work, etc. they even sent me a letter that said don't worry about anything we have you covered throughout your illness. Not too shabby if you don't look at the out of pocket monthly cost. I do laugh when they send me health reminders. You are due for blood work. Really? The blood work I have every three weeks isn't good enough? My favorite was that I was due for a mammo. And how are they going to do that? Lol. I had to change my BS appt tomorrow to Thurs. The girl asked me condensendingly, "Honey, have you had your Mammogram?" I said, "well no, I don't have any boobies." I swear I could hear her gulp! She then asked me if I was done with rads. I told her, no I am not having rads. I surely don't know whose file she was looking at, but it couldn't have been mine! Lol. Not looking forward to this appt. And so it goes....
