Hey Idesim! You cold? Why don't you come down here for a visit over the Christmas break? It's 91 degrees here today. We could go to my brother's pool. He is a captain of industry.

Good Morning from Sunny Downunder!
The rain has stopped for now. It looks so calm and beautiful out there.
Now, Bobo, it won't be long now and you'll have the tiny house back to yourself. I can't tell you how it gripes me to hear of someone wasting their Grand Children time. What I wouldn't give for the opportunity to spoil some Grandkids! I love to spoil my Daughter too! Pointy eyes directed that way! I am up for a pedicure...any time! I like Wren's idea.....Rant over!
I understand your reluctance to go for the new team. It is a crap shoot, like all of this shit is, but just doing some research will perhaps put you onto another track. We just want you to feel supported by your team. You don't deserve the crap you been getting.
Wondering how our gramwe is doing today. I do hope things have improved, or she's seen a Doctor.
So glad to hear gB is taking it easy! Enjoy that book! A relax day will do you so much good.
Are the fires out?
ldesim, I bought an 8" tablet from Aldi a couple of weeks ago. I haven't played with it too much yet, but Colin has been having fun with it. It takes great panoramic pics.
Glad to hear Kin is doing better, so glad you don't have to catch him! That's scary!
It is so weird, I am getting out the cooler clothes becausee it is definitely warming up here, just as you are doing the opposite.
Zills, you are amazing, and I am so glad you got onto our Bobo, what a great idea!
Well, off to do the Rites, and shower. Dexis looking at me through his bangs, hoping I will get his harness and leash down from the coat rack. I feel the ramps of death are calling us this morning...chat later! M x

Two things delight me:
1. You bought a tablet from Aldi, and
2. Dex is looking at you through his bangs.
The ramps of death! Jealous. In pjs. Fourteen more hours!
0 -
Who's counting?
I am just about to put on my face before I go. I have done the Rites, had a shower, smoothie with Almond milk, Super Greens, Banana and Handful of Mixed Berries.
I am sure you will be hystreical at my not leaving the house without makeup. I have been this way my whole life. I do it before everything, yes, even my Surgery. I am skilled, if I may say so myself. I can make it look like I am wearing nothing at all??????? I know, I know, then why do it? I don't have an answer to that!
Dex is pacing he knows we are going out....enjoy your day...be back after the Ramps of Death, if I survive them! M x

Well, Seattle being what it is, yesterday's predicted 84F topped out at 66F. Today it's gotten up to 70F. But rain is predicted starting tomorrow late and continuing for days.

LOL, bobo, I just couldn't see you doing that given what you have said, glad you set me straight! At least you don't have much longer to deal with your mom.
ldesim, aren't new tech items fun?! It always tests my abilities!! Hope your kitty gets better soon.
Wren, you do such a good thing fostering these poor kitties. I would get so attached, I'm not sure I could let them go, I'd end up with 10+ cats. I'd really become the crazy old cat lady if I tried that!!

I'd help grade papers in my steroid induced insomnia. Have no idea how good it would be.
Bed update. It's here! He's very excited. Came complete with duct tape on a slat. How boyish. It came from my great grandmothers. I moved in my nightstand and the room looks all pulled together. DH wants him to get his own nightstand as ours are part of a set. Too funny.
He's had a big day. Worked with daddy all day. Took a real bath (deep water not baby level). Got a new tire for his bike. He wore a whole in the other one by braking too hard and skidding. Now sleeping in a big boy bed.
The toddler bed has moved into the baby's room. I'm not ready to wrestle her yet. She had a fit when I took her mattress out of the crib. We'll see what my next steps are before any decisions are made. She's had a lot of transitions lately with the new daycare. Mommy just now tolerating her climbing on her chest.
Wish we knew if Granwe made it to the dr or is suffering until Monday.
Poor wren. I could send over some very sweet lanky teenage kittens that want to take over the garage. I don't mind but you can't walk for them laying down in front of you and I don't want them spraying when they get older. I think my cat has learned to tolerate them. They are so sweet and don't give up. Plus she's out numbered and getting too old to be territorial.
Idesim. I feel your pain. How long is your hair? I wonder if that's why I'm so cold between the hot flashes which mainly show up at night. Grrr!
Bobo. I'm not an invalid. My mom made us drink jello when we were sick. Her version of Gatorade. Yuck!!! I feel like spookiesmom and can't stand yogurt. Kefir is ok in small doses. Still cereal, sandwiches, oyster crackers, apples, depends on dinner. Fish sounded good but I took one lick and decided against it. Had brown rice, chicken and broccoli for dinner tonight. Tasted pretty good. May cook up some more chicken. My mom is supposed to be fixing me a pot roast. I think chili or veg stew sounds good but afraid of the tomatoes. I would go for some more chicken salad from SAMs club. Nothing you'd like but I've got to have protein! And not up to experimenting with new recipes but a veggie burger is appealing. Have been eating a lot of squash, zucchini and mushrooms but our season is almost over. Didn't get my fill of corn. Too wet. Can't forget my ginger tea or sleepy time in a pinch.
I guess it's time to see if I can go back to sleep. DH has a mtg at 9:( My sister is here thank goodness to help with kids and clean bathtubs.0 -
Z, I know you are not an invalid! I thought Sunday would be a delicate stomach day. Anyway, now that I think of it, I might eat like an invalid! Soup, soft grain, etc. Still off watermelon. Didn't you say something about sending me watermelons in the mail? I did not get them...
What am I forgetting? Oh, forgot to dump soup on my mom's head. Z gives such excellent practical advice, I must follow to the letter. I am actually making soup today. Will it be done in time? Ariom, I keep asking for your veg soup recipe! But you are so busy getting your slap on (makeup) that you don't see it! Or perhaps you are so beautiful, so shiny and beautiful, that your beauty makes it difficult to read screens... did you really make up before surgery? What about the fact that you'd sleep in it and it would not be good for your skin? You probably have this excellent natural makeup that is actually good for your skin. How were the ramps?
Idesim, what is this thing about your hair Z was mentioning? I can't follow. What is the hair report? I need to get myself a present because I promised I would do so with every test. But then I thought I wouldn't because mammo is so minor. But then as it turns out that one was NOT minor. I will have a prezzie. I am thinking of another bracelet, but I am not going to do an A and A. I am really liking my endometrial biopsy bracelet.
How is granwe? I was snort laughing about the bonnet. It is definitely blue. Is there only one? Do we have to share? I imagine we will be fighting over that bonnet quite often.
I must say, I was so glad to have all of you in the bag at my appt. I pictured you making a terrible ruckus when I was called back for the nodule, put into u/s, and then had a second u/s by the radiologist on call. The smug radiologist. I couldn't believe my bad luck, so I pictured all of you getting us thrown out of there. I hope we are asked not to ever go back.

Old couples should not be left with devices, without supervision from their children. I start with this so I can share a "funny" strange story that may brighten your day, before something takes me away.
Yesterday was a wonderfully cool fallish day. After the OG left in the early morning to go play in his shop, I took a wonderful warm bubble bath. After the bath I slipped into my favorite flannel pj's, the well worn ones grey, with hundreds of tiny black Scottish terriers sporting tiny little red bows. I climbed back into bed, turned on the TV and X-box so I could watch some Netflix, and promptly fell asleep. Later in the day when he came home I awoke craving gumbo, not a quick easy dinner, but hey its what I wanted and I'm the cook. While I was cooking the OG was playing with his phone, and began snapping pictures of the dog, plus one of my behind stilling wearing the famous comfy pj's. Hours later as we were making our way to the coffee table with our gumbo I noticed the bedroom TV was still on, when a Netflix movie is over the Xbox usually goes to the title page after a predetermined amount of time the screen goes a little dim but doesn't turn off. I went to turn it off, looked up at the screen and saw, to my horror, my a$$ in high definition on the entire 32 inches of the screen. Somehow, we don't know how, the picture he snapped with his phone was sent to the Xbox, an we the low techo wieners that we are could not get it off the screen. 2 phone calls to 2 hysterically laughing children proved fruitless, I finally just turned off the TV, ate one last time for my life, burned the poor little scotties in the firepit, and I can be found walking for endless hours on the treadmill with that image embedded in my brain. I have this fear that my a$$ was sent to Xbox viewers all over the street. If any of you could tell me how he accomplished this feat and how to get that damn image erased I'd be most appreciative.
Posting before I lose it.0 -
Have no X box or fancy tablet so totally cannot advise. Peeing myself. Actually peeing myself laughing.

Bobo, Hi we are here at the same time. Please tell me you have been to bed, and that no one is serving mom breakfast in bed!
Instead of actually grading papers give them all a B and be done with it, some would probably jump for joy with a B, while the smart ones would be upset but it would make them all equal this one time and you'd get a break.0 -
Glorious duct tape, one of the greatest inventions of modern time. It holds the OG tail light on his truck, the kitchen drain into the wall, and once years ago I came home from work to find it holding DDs diaper in place, long story. So glad the little guy loves his new bed, Zills. Hope you are having an easy tummy day. I'm so glad you have a sister that is willing to help so you can have a break.
Wren, fostering kitties would be difficult for me to do, get to attached. As much as I fussed about rain all summer, we could use some now, its beginning to get dry, cool, no humidity, beautiful but dry.
Lol M, putting on your face to do the ramps of death, and for surgery. I was told no makeup or nail polish in the hospital. You must be a southern belle at heart, no southern woman goes without her face on, this one excluded. My MIL use to always tell me to go put on some lipstick, and earbobs, (earrings) without those two items you were naked in her opinion. When she passed they put a light pink lipstick on her, she would have been mortified, so I applied bright red, and made them also do her nails over in equally bright red.
Once again I've been sitting here forever. Even though I've given up food I have to feed the OG. My doctor is open for 2 hours today, so I'm going for a visit this afternoon. Hugs see y'all soon0 -
Gramwe, you are the best!
I love that story, but can't help you with the tech stuff. I am very computer challenged.
I can only imagine how you must have freaked out when you saw that pic on the screen. I am sorry for laughing, but I did snort laughter too. Colin says that you have a smart phone that has a photo sharing function with the tv or the media box, through a file server, whatever that means. He got a good laugh too, but assures me that it hasn't gone viral around SC! He says to check Facebook if you have it!!!!!
No mention of whether you are feeling better. I imagine if you could get up and make Gumbo, you're not feeling too bad.
Zills I can't get over how much that boy has grown. The Big Boy Bed, and being Daddy's assistant is quite a leap in kiddie milestones!
You are healing too if you can take the baby crawling on you now. It wasn't too long ago you'd have had real trouble with that. All good!
Bobo, I keep meaning to tell you that the soup is whatever I have on hand in chicken stock. You could do veggie stock or just Messell stock cubes, they are vegan I think. I do all the veg in a little oil and then add the stock, garlic, a can of crushed tomatoes, simmer and that's about it. Sometimes I add rice, or lentils. I usually keep the soup chunky, but Colin likes it Vitamized. It's a really easy, no frills kinda recipe. I always use fresh herbs at the end, and always fresh black pepper. Sorry it isn't more interesting.
I love gramwe's logic about giving everyone a "B". Sounds like a great leveler to me!
Off to bed now, catch you in the morning....M x
I think you must have a present. Another bracelet? What kind was that again?
Dex wasn't up for the ramps today, in fact he was trying to get me to go home very soon after we started. He isn't really 100% at the moment. He has the sore eye again and the red itchy ears. The vet says it is an allergy that a lot of dogs have right now. He doesn't sneeze, but you can see that he isn't feeling well. He has a very red tummy too.
I do have makeup that is good for you Bobo:) I do the facials thing all the time. It's just part of what I do. I love to put on a face mask, and I exfoliate most days, always have.

WHAT??? Please don't tell me that nit wit shared that picture on facebook. Please tell me he couldn't have accomplished that. Oh dear Lord I think I might hurl.

Peeked in here while waiting for slow poke to finish getting ready.. we are headed to BIL's house for a visit... Bobogirl, can you pass the Depends because I am peeing myself laughing.. omg Granwe.. that is hysterical. I am not familiar with Xbox or tablets.. but I think you are safe from the pic being broadcast to the neighborhood. Are the kids still laughing? I hope you didn't really burn the terriers, there is nothing like that pair of fav pj's and winter is coming. I do sympathize, I would not want my @ss high def either.
Peeing myself.. see you all later, have a great day.

I have emergency depends from when I was checking on my Granny every week. She only likes the pink kind and some big wig decided old ladies would like blue! They need to go to a nursing home. It's PINK! Everywhere.
Granwe. To be as sick as you are you sure do know how to make everyone's morning. I agree with Idesim. Don't burn the pjs. It's hard to break in a new pair and you're not feeling well.
No tech help here but I'll try to learn from you. Boy loves to take pix and he usually nabs the phone while you are in the shower! That would be worse! Guess boys never grow up, huh?
Sister taken kids to park. I'm going to try and nap to make up for the restless night. Think it's full moon or close to that doesn't help. Kitten spent night in garage. Woke me up crying at 6 to be let out. Hope he learned a lesson!
Poor Dex. Can he take anything? Must be miserable if forgoing the ramps.
Bobo. Mom is gone. Papers finished? Treat yourself! Ice cream? Take away? Roaming around the mall? Should be cool there.0 -
OMG! Gramwe that is the best story ever, I can sure relate to not being a tech person either!! What a good start to my day you just made. Hope no facebook either!! I fully agree with others, dont burn the jammies, they sound comfy! we all have some of those and need them alot of times. How are you feeling now?
Zills glad you have sister to help you, get a good nap! like to hear boy like his bed.. how sweet.
Ariom, I like the Bare Essential mineral makeup, my Mom was like you, never went out in public without makeup and especilly lipstick.. I remember when she was so sick many times but would always make sure she had her makeup on, lipstick and blush, because she never wanted us kids or grandkids to know she felt terrible, i always told her she wasnt fooling me.. could see it in her eyes but had to admire her for trying. I worked in public so long that it was a habit to look as good as I could then, not so easy now!
take care all.

I do get attached to some of the kitties. The best cat I ever had was Mocca, a 'failed foster'--the term used when the foster parent adopts. I was totally not expecting Bear to be adopted, so had a little feeling of her being snatched away. I think she'll love her new home once she's used to it. Her adopter is a writer and she loves to sit while I type away.
Gramwe, that story made my day! I can hear my son laughing if I had the same problem and had to call him. I think it might be time to read the small print on that feature. Apple put the manual for my phone on-line, so I can read it in big type.
I'm just starting to wear some makeup again. Just read the fine print with my good glasses and discovered the makeup I'm using for dark circles has sunscreen. Most sunscreen has bad ingredients or feels like shortening, so I've been going without. I think I'll give up and use the bad stuff, at least on my face.

Gramwe, you made my day too!! I am so untechnical it isn't funny. I'd be calling my kids too for help! Don't burn the pj's!! You will miss them come winter!! Hope you get good news at the dr.
Zills, hope you can get a nap in. My it sounds like your little boy is really growing up!
bobo, is Mom gone now? I hope so. You so need to treat yourself to something, do it!!
I did a little retail therapy myself yesterday. I picked up an LLBean sleveless T shirt at a local thrift shop on Thursday and it will be perfect for layering. It has a high neck and the arm holes are a nice snug but not tight fit. So I went online to their website and bought 3 more in assorted colors, and best of all they were on sale! Then I popped over to Amazon and got a tube top to try out and a soft cotton cami. All of my under clothes are so big on me, besides the missing boobs, I have now lost a total of close to 60 pounds since my diabetes dx in early 2012. I got by last winter, but its not going to happen this year. All my fleece shirts and my winter coats just hang on me......
Airom, hope Dex gets better soon! I know I feel so helpless when my kitty is sick cause I don't know exactly what is bugging him.
ndgirl, I love Bare Essentials too! My DD and her DLLP gave me a starter kit plus maascara and eyebrow powder for my birthday when I was visiting them in CA in June. (Just before the bc dx.) I bought a set of 6 lip glosses and I am set!! I only use it when I go out to town, not for local unless I need the added umph to feel good. I was told no makeup or nail polish anywhere for surgery too.

Good Morning all!
I am still smiling at the thought of gramwe on the telly!
Dex is taking steroids every day, has done since he was first Dx with this allergy, and Omegas squirted into food twice a day. Colin jokes about us both being on the steroids. He is on the same dosage as I am, and he only weighs 10kg, so that's a fair dose. It just manages to keep it from really flaring up, but he is on the edge of it all the time with the sore eye and the redness in his ears etc. I don't know what else I can do for him. He loves to run outside and roll in the grass, I don't know how to stop him doing that.
I kid you not, about the makeup. I use mineral makeup too, but I did remove my nail polish for the surgery!
I know exactly what you mean about seeing it in the eyes. My family always say that about me too. It's a dead giveaway!
I know what you mean about the sunscreen, Wren. It's a damned if you do, damned if don't kinda thing. I had a really nasty skin cancer removed from my shoulder a couple of years ago, and I had one cryoed off my lip some time ago. I am one of the lucky ones who has virtually no moles on my body and have used sunscreen since it became known that we needed it, usually a zinc base. We have a huge hole in the Ozone layer here in Oz. I don't think I know anyone who hasn't had something removed. There is a lot of Melanoma Dx here.
Zills, so glad your sister is back and has taken the kids to the park. I hope you get a rest in while they are gone. A 6am call from the kitty wasn't really needed was it? I hate having my sleep interrupted.
Gramwe, you just reminded me of when Bec was born. I did the same makeup thing that night too! I had a shower and put on my face, then I rang my Mother to ask what labour felt like, at near midnight. I was booked in for a caesar in two days time, but Bec had other ideas. She was breach with her legs up in front of her, so a natural birth wasn't an option. My Mother told me she couldn't remember, it was 24 years ago! fast forward to our first night home, and we had a problem with the diaper. Smart thinking first husband grabs the duct tape from his tool box. I held the baby up and he ran the tape around the diaper! We were so chuffed!
So glad you are going to the Doctor, I know it isn't what you want to do!
Take care!
Bobo, has your Mother gone yet?
I hope you are ok after that visit, and aren't too exhausted . Can you have a rest today?
I am off to get ready for my day now...take care everyone...M x

Is it possible Dex is allergic to his food? A lot of dogs are. Some to grains, mostly corn, others to chicken.
But my Australian Shepherd was allergic to all the spring pollens. He always got sooooo itchey, and got hot spots. Not much I could do about it. 100 mg Benadryl didn't help much.0 -
Spookiesmom, I wondered this too. The food he is on is probiotic dry food and his wet food is organic chicken and rice. He went on this diet a few years ago after he had surgery for a large tumor in his abdomen, which the vet thought came from a kicking when he was a stray. This allergy stuff has only started since we moved here, and the Vet assures me that he has many dogs in the same situation, that it's a Rye Grass allergy. I really don't know what else I can do for him. It is so pathetic, poor little guy. When he walks he takes a few steps and then stops to raise a paw to rub his eye. He lets me put the eye ointment into his eye with no problems, I think it must soothe it. I'll try anything that may help if you've got any other ideas.
0 -
My Aussie, Vulfie, was 60#. He got 100 mg Benadryl per day. It helped him some with the itchey. It doesn't affect dogs like it does humans, he wasn't drunk or sleepy.
The other idea might be to change his food to something he's never had, like fish, venison, kangaroo. Sweet potato is good too. Check with his vet, but there shouldn't be any reason you can't try. I'm sure you have big box pet stores, ask there for suggestions.
A woman on another thread here said her Shelty was itchey, was feeding her chicken. She changed the food, all better.0 -
I'll check with the Vet. I've not heard of Big Box pet stores here. We buy most supplies from the Vet.
I just met my new, two doors down neighbor. She is having the garden bulldozed, so I am going to get some plants out before it happens. She has lots of beautiful river rocks that I hope she might sell. I didn't know they were there or I'd have asked her this morning.
It is amazing that the house on the corner and this one two doors down have just sold, after being on the market for a long time. There are sold signs up all over town, so the market is picking up again. It will be nice having neighbors, they have a dog, and the others are looking at buying two dogs. My next door neighbor is getting another dog after losing their lovely Cavalier King Charles last year. It will be nice to have more dogs around.
I am off to wrestle the plants. I hope there aren't any snakes, the place is very overgrown and has been empty a long time. Chat later..M x

Yep, she's gone! No rest, but I got all of my grading done. About to rocket into another day! I've decided to wear all-white.
Bobo allergic to chicken! Also gets itchy with pollen, has 'hot spots,' and is 'flea allergic,' according to the vet. We don't do much Benedryl, as it doesn't really help, but we will if we need to. We do just what spookie says. Limited-ingredient diet, and he's allergic to grain, so it's grain-free. He even has grain-free cookies!
Z, how are you doing? You over the hump? XXX

By big box stores, I mean chain stores. Here it would be Petmart or Petco. Like HomeDepot or Lowes for home improvement here.0 -
Bobo, The irony of vegan feeding only meat to their dog. The woman who adopted Bear asked what she eats. I said she didn't like chicken but loved fish. She had a huge expression of relief and said she was afraid I was going to say beef. Neither of us will feed beef to our cats. I figure, if I won't eat it, why would I feed it to my cat?

Not much of an emotional hump this time. Just have the blahs and am cold and tired. Weather change doesn't help. I think my hair is about 1/8 inch and white. Noticeable. Hope I don't lose my head start!
Anyone tried those gel pillows that are supposed to stay cooler during hot flashes? Still chasing the perfect pillow. Like the v pillow for propping up but pillow case not cool enough for hot flashes.0 -
Zills, glad you dodged the emotional hump this time! I was debating between the gel pillow and a wedge pillow when I was doing my pre-surgery preparedness stuff. Decided on the wedge and am sort of sorry I did. I have only used it a few times. I love my V (bomerang) pillow!! I will sometimes put it on top of the wedge to prop me up for reading in bed, but then I have to get up and put it on the chair before I go to sleep, which ends up waking me up too much, so don't do that often any more. For me the V pillow is as comfy as the fancy neck pillows I've had in the past. But you are right it is just a plain pillow case and not very cooling.
I generally will have 2 hot flashes in the night/while I am sleeping. Both are in the early morning hours about 2 hrs apart. I have to kick off the covers to get past them, then pull them back up. Even so, I don't think I'd give up the V pillow ..... unless they were to make one with the cooling gel cover!

Morning all from rained out Paynesville!
No gardening for me today, it has been raining all night long.
Glad you're not feeling too bad this time Zills!
I hadn't thought about the case on the V pillow. I just buy pure cotton ones online for mine, but I haven't had a Hot Flash for a long time, so haven't a clue what cover to suggest. I do remember I always kept a water mist bottle beside the bed, and would mist myself and turn on the overhead fan for a cool blast.
Thanks for that Spookiesmom! I don't have any of those supplies stores near me, but the Vet has a huge range of allergy specific foods that I will discuss with him next time I see him. I could be way off, but I really don't feel this is food allergy related since this is the first time it has happened, and at a time when there are a lot of other dogs presenting with the same thing. It took a few tries to find the right foods when Dex had his surgery because he has such a delicate stomach. He used to jump up on my lap and just barf without warning! It was awful.
Bobo, how did the all white day go?
So "Bobo" is allergic too. This is all new to me. I have never been without a dog in the house, but have never had any allergy related issues with any of them.
I am so glad you have the tiny house back to yourselves again!
Anyone else watching Dexter? Colin and I are in front of the TV at 4.30 each Monday, next week is the final episode. I will miss it so much, it's my fave TV show. Can't imagine what the end will be, except there seems to be a BIG storm approaching that will figure in that final episode. Six more sleeps and it will all be revealed!!!!
Take care everyone....M x
