I have four "cooling hot flash" pillows for sleeping and they don't really work.  I'm not against them.  But they don't do anything.

Ordered my boomerang pillow after Z's positive report -- from JCP, just like she said -- and I love it.  Love it.  Two thumbs up.

Just got off the phone with the PCP.  She's spoken with the radiologist.  The BMX is back on the table.  I told the PCP I was thinking about building a new team.  She asked that I speak with everyone's favorite BS first, since I've got this thing -- lay out my issues, and if it doesn't turn around, then she would of course support a new team.

I've got an appt with the BS next Wednesday, and an appt with the PCP on Thursday.  Just made oatmeal pancakes for the kids -- now bedtime, shower, and work for a couple of hours before DWTS.  XX

Are you going to wear the blue bonnet and take 1/2 a F!F? Or are you going to be nice? Does DLLP go to these with you?

We'll be there either with pointy eyes and the B! Bonnet or with chocolates and wine. Whatever you prefer.

I'm glad your PCP will listen.

Hi gB, you sound well rested today!

Glad you've had good use out of your V pillow. I love mine, and even though I really don't need it now, I still wrap it around me when I watch TV. It is a great way to prop my arm which still has minor swelling in my armpit from the SNB.

I used to have a hot flash, right at the moment I was about to drop off to sleep. It was a bugger of a thing. Peter, my husband at the time, used to say he could feel me radiate from the other side of the bed! It woke me up every night for a long time, then just disappeared.

    Take it easy...chat later! M x

Hmm.  I must borrow an F!  Femara from Granwe.  Granwe, may I borrow an F Femara?

I choose pointy eyes.  I do not like wine anymore.  I believe I have drunk my allotment of wine.

The BMX has been "held over my head" since 2008.  I am not shocked.  I am brave.  I only care about the princess.  My one nagging question is this:  who will be the hothead in my temporary absence?  I'm afraid I won't be able to carry the mantle of hothead punk princess for three or four weeks or so.

Z, Idesim -- I need your lists for what to take to the hospital, and what to prep for home.  I want to prep myself with exactly what's on your lists.  XXX

Z, I don't need DLLP to go with.  Plus, I believe she should save her days off.  So I will probably go alone.  I won't hurt anybody.

M, I love it when you say "my husband at the time."  You are just a constant delight to me.   I wanted to know exactly which veg you put in the soup.  I know you are going to say it varies.  But I want the common list of ingredients.

I wish I were in AUS at the moment.  I have this feeling that I need to talk to Colin!   He would probably make fun of my bracelet collection and cheer me up.  And then we would whiz up some soup in the Vitamix, because we both like it that way.

I just thought she could lug us around. I don't think you'll hurt anyone. I cry when I get mad and that doesn't help.

Hospital is easy. Throat lozenges, Chapstick, lotion, extra pillows for ride home, something to keep your hair out of your way, and your own tea bags if you're a tea drinker.

I have no advice about drains except hand sanitizer to strip them.

Home. Hand sanitizer, extra washcloths (I slept with one on my head; still do some nights:), wipes if you can't shower, back scrubber, maybe a grabber, more lotion, pretty nail polish, funny movies. Eventually massage oil for scars. M is the queen. You already have THE pillow and sounds like plenty more.

BUT and it's a big BUT

The most important is to eat and eat well so you are ready for surgery.

Hi gals - this came in my email and figured there might be a couple of you that would find it handy.... Love sweet potatos!!

    http://www.babble.com/best-recipes/16-vegan-sweet-potato-recipes/?cmp=SMC|bbl|soc|FB|BabbleFood|InHouse|091513|SweetPotatoRecipes|Photo|famM|Social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=SMC|bbl|soc|FB|BabbleFood|InHouse|091513|SweetPotatoRecipes|Photo|famM|Social#stuffed-sweet-potatoes

Bobogirl, I am so happy to hear that news.. not that I particularly want to see you go through surgery, but I also don't want you being picked at and prodded and tested non-stop either.  Ha.. I removed the shopping list from my favs.  All I recall is I shopped to much and used nothing.  YOu'll probably only be in the hospital for 24 hours, so you won't need much for that... lets worry about it when we know what's going to go on.

Hmmm.. I somehow made my webpage have a font size of like 7 and I can hardly see this lol... let me post.

I had to change browsers, I don't know what the hell I did, but it shrunk even more, just that page... I shut the tab, reopened and logged in and still microscopic.. who knows... at least my @ss wasn't projected on a tv :)

Seriously though, I will feel so much better to see you get some resolution.

Zils, good news on the hair!  Isn't that fuzz kinda fun? I couldn't stop touching it.  Mine was white too.. then it went darker to Gray and now I'm salt n pepper.  I'm at about 2 or 3 inches... I should be going for my first post chemo hair cut soon! Yahoo!!

I'm chuckling over the garden raiding and over Bobogirl chuckling over husband comments.. I wish I could make such comments, they seem so sophisticated and racy and me being married one seems so "hickish" and boring LOL.

I was reading about make-up regimens... I have a strict one as well... ivory soap and sometimes a bit of blush :)  If it's a special occasion I may swipe on some mascara.... but you better count on it being smudged within a couple of hours and me looking like I have black eyes.

Hope you lovelies had a great day

    Oi, oi, oi!!!!

I stepped away for a brief moment, thinking no one was here and there is all this stuff that I may have missed.

Miss Bobo, I am so relieved that there is a bit of movement going on in your camp. I know it is a huge thing to deal with, but it has really always been what you have wanted. I do hope that it all comes together the way you want it at the appointment. I suggest you borrow my large black suede bag, because it will be a full house that day. We will all behave, unless of course we feel it isn't going as planned. I will emerge with pointy eyes specially made up with black Kohl, for drama, and stare them down for you!

I am 100% with Zills! The only thing I didn't have, and needed, was the damn throat lozenges. They are a must. Although I have heard that some are not using the breathing tube, and do a nerve block in surgery now. Don't know how that works, but interesting. The pillows for the ride home are essential too.

BUT, and the BIG BUT, (I love you Zills!) Is the FOOD. Not meaning to gang up on you, well maybe just a little bit, PROTEIN, PROTEIN, PROTEIN!!! Take it from this old girl. Healing skin and tissue, must have adequate protein. Lots of Garlic too, it is a natural antibiotic, and we need any help we can get in that area, after surgery.

I'd venture to suggest a drain cami, not that I had one, but don't be as slovenly as I was, to drag them around. You have children that you'd scare. I just had Barry the postman!!!

So glad you have the V pillow already, still using mine. I think it will be a permanent thing now.

I wish you were in Aus too, Colin is a wonderful leveler. When you see his daily struggle with the most simple things, well I am sure you know what I mean! It is all a matter of perspective. He would share his vitamized soup with you! Anytime! and has a way, that just makes you feel good.

    OK The Soup!

garlic, onion, in a little olive oil, fry till onion is soft, add carrot, celery, pumpkin, potato, chopped mushrooms, add large can of crushed or chopped tomatos and water with stock cubes. Bay leaf or choice of herbs goes in now. Simmer for about half an hour and then add sweetcorn, peas and beans, I cheat with frozen ones, boil again and simmer for 10 minutes or so. Take out the Bay Leaf, fresh black pepper to taste, some Coriander, or Basil on top. I often have Cauliflower and Brokkoli (SP) or cabbage in it too. You can add a handfull of rice, or add any pulses or lentils too. I just do what I feel like at the time, and whatever is in the fridge. Crusty French or Italian bread heated in the oven with a small saucer of Olive Oil and garlic or ground sea salt to dip the bread....delish!

    Take care everyone...M x

ldesim! I didn't know you'd been here either. I had computer trouble this morning. It started to beep at me and the cursor wouldn't move. Colin to the rescue, I'd be sitting blinking at the screen if I didn't have him to fix these faults. I am so computer challenged it isn't funny!

I can't believe you are going to have a Frost. It is chilly here because of the storms and rain, but it is definitely warming up. Spookiesmom is having perfect weather at my fave temperature and it's almost bedtime.

Is it getting dark early for you too? We will be going to daylight saving soon, I can't wait. I love it being light till after 9pm. I am always sad when it ends and we change the clocks again.

I am going to try to get some work done now...M x

Idesim, I cannot believe you are having a frost!  Spookie is right -- it is hot here.  It was 89 today.

M, thank you for soup recipe!  I am going to give it a shot on the weekend.  I remember doing that protein thing with the April surgery.  It sucked.

You know, all this back-and-forth doesn't make me the hungriest.  I habitually drop ten or twenty pounds before surgery, just from worry and overwork.  But I'm making a real effort.  Sounds like I already have everything I need, should it be coming to that, finally, except cough drops.

I don't feel that different from how I usually feel, since I've been up against that several times.  I'm like gB -- I want to launch into action and prep.  Again.  I worry I won't have any tops or camis that are the right size, and then what will I wear to work?  And, you know, I am going to be rocking the flatness, and I just wonder if my work colleagues will notice.

My favorite show!  Isaac Mizrahi Live!  I don't buy anything.  It just cheers me up.  DLLP hates it, but she is sleeping right now.

Zills, cubed everything, and green beans. I like mine chunky, Colin likes his blended. I also use a great chicken stock for flavour, but Bobo wouldn't eat that. The veggie stock is ok, just a bit different. I would also add sliced chicken breast at serving time, if I make it with the chicken stock. It's an easy meal Zills. M x

I hope you enjoy it Bobo!

I understand the weightloss in the lead up, I lost a considerable amount too, but have you had time to regain any weight in between these events? I don't think soooooooo!

I managed to regain after surgery, and was even clutching at the weightloss straw by including the 975gm of the offending "D" cup boob in my lost weight. I know, I know, that's a desperate woman.

Do not stress about the size of tops or camis, that will be easy to organise if and when the time comes.

Are you going to share with the ladies in the office, or just arrive rocking the flatness, and wait for them to notice? If it's the latter, can I come? I could do my half flat, or Victor Victoria, or I could stay in the bag. It's your call!

I have to move away from the computer now..my bum is numb..TMI? I have been here for ages, I just can't get away....M x

You are right, I have not gained, but I am trying to eat three small things a day.  Yesterday:  protein shake, rice with veg, and steamed squash with creamy tehini sauce.  Not too bad.  I guess I will lose boob weight too, since mine are DDD!

M, you ask such a good question regarding the ladies.  And my big bosses, both of whom are male.  I am going to rock the flatness for a number of reasons.  I know the foobs rubbing against my areas will bother me.  I am a teeny bit worried about people noticing.  Students won't notice because I will have a new batch of students.

I won't arrive in a skinny tank top.  Perhaps people will just think I have lost weight?  At any rate, I hope people are too polite to say anything.  I don't plan to announce it -- will just slip off, if I can, and have it during exam week.  So glad you will be there doing your Victor Victoria!  Fingers crossed that you are doing that for Halloween.

Hey Bobo! I was just thinking about going to bed. It is still raining, and the forecast is for more rain this week.

Glad to see you're eating a bit more:)

I understand you wanting to rock the flat, and I think you'll do it well:) I really don't think it is very obvious to people. I find myself taking more notice of womens chests these days, but even when you're looking, it is hard to know if someone is "flat" or flat!

I would hope people would be polite and not ask, but who knows. I think we should work out some scathing one liners to put them in their place of they overstep the boundaries.

We have time to work on that routine:) Take care, catch you later!

Bobo I think you should start practicing the catwalk like the models do on the runway. They are tall and flat. Don't forgot the haughty look.

What time is our appt tomorrow with the BS? Or is it Thursday?

How's Granwe? Recovered from her tv debut?

Idesim are you warm yet? It's too early for frost!

    M. Is Dex better? Did they anticipate how long this might last? Did the rain wash away the pollen? Organized the river rocks yet? Do you make your own stock?

Wren. Have a new foster kitty? Or do you need time to grieve? Do you ever get more than one at a time?

    ND has been quiet.

I second Z's request for all those updates.

Our appt with America's Favorite BS is Wednesday 25 September, 8:20 a.m.  I can't believe I am going to talk to her again.  Really.  I'm doing it at the request of the PCP, and because I have to... beg now for them to check out this nodule.

Then I see the PCP the next day.  What other appts do we have coming up?

M, I can't wait to work out those scathing one-liners.  First, though, I must get the Mx lined up, finally.  Will I actually consent to doing it with America's Favorite, just to make it easier on me?  Or will I do the uphill struggle with insurance, assemble a new team, test all over again?

Even I don't know the answer to this.  Granwe, how is our baby?  Idesim, what's on the coffee table?

Hi Zills! I don't know how long this will last with Dex. It started just as everything started to grow as Winter was waning , so Dex has been on his steroids and Omegas for some time. The itchy eye waxes and wanes, as do the hot ears. He is definitely worse after a roll in the grass or a big walk.

Bobo, unless you absoutely can't face this woman, I would consider doing it close to home, but with conditions. I know you would have an imposing presence, but I would, and did, research my Surgeon before going ahead. I was fortunate that everyone loves this guy and he is hard to secure as  the line to his office is long. I also googled him to discover where he had worked before and if there was anything else I needed to know about him.

I had lots of people telling me that I should be going to Melbourne, where I had moved from, and using Peter McAllum, the big cancer centre that has all the accolades. I just knew that it was not right for me and that I needed to stay close to my new home, especially since it was the imaging centre here, that had all the new "You Beaut" equipment which found mine in the first place. It isn't "hicksville" and I knew I wouldn't want to travel 300km to my follow up appointments for the next 5 years, unless it were really necessary.

Anyway, I digress! but only to indicate how I thought this problem through.

My suggestion would be, see how this appointment pans out. Use it as the benchmark. Go in armed with a list of questions for her, include some that indicate you are considering your options. I think it is always a good idea, with Doctors, to give a hint of the "You're working FOR me!" without being arrogant.

See just how you feel about her and what she's offering you. If you can feel confident in her this time around, if she takes you seriously, and you're both on the same page, it may work, and that will remove so much stress and angst from the equasion.

If you hate her and want to cause her harm, there will always be plan "B". Let's take baby steps!

Scathing comments for collegues will come later, once we have a plan!

Whatever happens, we will all be here for you! M x

Spookiesmom.. I'll be there before the weekend is out, I am already sick of cold weather and yes Ariom, it is getting darker earlier at night :(  We don't turn the clocks for a bit, but I do get a little depressed at the night arriving earlier.

Joe's yacking to his sister and I'm waiting to sit down for dinner on the coffee table.. pasta tonight.

That soup sounds wonderful... all my favorite things in it too... it might be a good weekend to give it a try... I love love love crusty bread with oil.

We didn't end up getting frost last night, but it did go down in the 40's and it didn't make it out of the 60's this afternoon.

I'm getting my punk on for tomorrow.. I didn't realize you had already seen this BS before... I really hope this is going to be a productive visit.. I can put the kohl squinty eyes on too!

Pasta for me tonight too! Catch you later! M x

Zills, I'm trying to hold out on getting another foster cat because our birthdays are coming next month and we try to do something special for them (8 days apart). At one point I had my 2 cats (since departed) plus a foster hospice cat and a client's cat. It went well until the hospice and client cat got into a fight and client cat was asked to leave. The hospice kitty was a tiny little white cat and my bully torti was terrified of her. I think they may have had it out when I was away. It was fun to see the bully back down the hall away, afraid to turn her back.

Bobo, I have a soup with carrots and sweet potatoes. It also has tomatoes, onions and garlic. I usually use veggy broth. I think the original recipe had sausage in it (ick!) but I leave that out.

Birdie, I love that kitty story!  Sweet little hospice kitty.  Your soup sounds yummy.  Why do people have to add sausage or bacon to everything?  Bacon ice cream.

M, I love your 'thinking out' of my situation.  I for one don't consider it a digression (since I am extremely interested in the question at hand!), and I thank you for it.  I am feeling the same way you are.  Esp. the part about her working for me, but not arrogantly.  I really don't need to turn this into more of a drama than it already is.

I anticipate resistance when I ask for a PS for the close.  BSs are always thinking they will make a perfectly good close, and they flap around, from what I hear.  America's Favorite is a perfect candidate for that.

However, I should be so lucky to get to that point in the conversation, since AF is a 'conservationist.'  Trying to stay neutral.  Where is our Z?  BTW, I want a copy of Granwe's butt picture.  I have to have it.

Idesim, love that you are punking out for my appt!  But it's NEXT Wednesday.  We have this whole week to look forward to first!  We will use it to practice eye makeup techniques  Speaking of punk, how are you cutting your hair?  Speaking of punk, the baby chopped a giant chunk out of the front of her hair. It's awful.  I have asked my hairdresser to even it out -- I called the receptionist -- but she hasn't gotten back to me with whether or not he will do it.  It is not a kid-friendly salon, but I am desperate and I don't want to take her to the mall or somewhere awful.

    7:21 a.m. and I could use a cocktail.

Yes, M, AF surgeon has good credentials.  Johns Hopkins blah blah blah.  But they don't do anyone any good if she lets a graduate student perform the surgery.
