Hi ladies, I'm home! Surgery went great, although I ended up with six drains! Ugh! My breast pocket was much larger than anticipated, also my peck muscle was extremely short, so my PS had to do some grafting with donor skin in order to create more tissue to place the expander under. I have some rippling, indenting and asymmetry, but I'm trying to remind myself that's all to be expected at this point.

Stix, hope you're seeing some improvement. I'll check back in shortly. xoxo

glad you are home, Ally, and surgery went well.  It must be hard not to peek too much and stay patient through this healing phase.  I am so happy for all you gals who have recently crossed to the squishy side.  My date is October 29.  For now, I am celebrating that I don't have to do the last cycle of taxol which means next Tuesday is my last time in the chemo chair.

Ally- Great.  I don't exactly understand what they did?  The pocket was too small or too big? Where did they graft from if you don't mind me asking?  This could help others also.

Ally- I am still  assymetrical- but, I think with just another small revision of the pocket it will look very much like the other side if not identical  but- I still have time for it to change also.OR  I still need the scar revised so that may change things...I also need my   NAC on the already good side Revised... Alot could change..... so I am not too worried. I know I have a great PS !!!   Even though I have had too many surgeries and it has put my career  (insurance) on hold- I wound rather get it to my liking. AFTERALL i have to wear it for the rest of my life.

    Ally- please keep us posted!

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure. I plan on getting the full low down tomorrow at post op, but from what my hubby has told me, my breast pocket was much larger than anticipated. I'm petite and going much smaller than my original size, so a lot of pocket work had to be done in order to snuggly fit the smaller exander, which is why I ended up with 6 drains. As far as the grafting, that's a separate issue. My peck muscle was extremely short. So short, the tissue expander wouldn't fit underneath it without additional support. My PS ended up using quite a bit of Alloderm, or grafting, as he put it to support the expander.

Mmtagirl - yay for no more chemo!!!

Stix - you sound in better spirits about things. I hope you don't need any other revisions, but if you do, it sounds like it will be a quick and simple thing.

Ally - be warned that the alloderm can make a lot more drain output.  Normal, but frustrating.  Hope post op appointment goes well!

    Yay, Stix!

The1toC - wishing you a safe and pain free travel home!

I'm still recovering well. All drains are out and I already had my first fill. The fill was quite painful for the first 12 hours, but I made it through. I have 60 more cc's before reaching my initial goal of 300 to evaluate. I'm going small, so not many fills required. :)

Great 1toC....hope its a smooth ride.  The revision is gaining more form.... but I still think it MAY need a nip and tuck to match the orig. Mastectomy side.... but it looks much better. Will post pics after my next appointment in a couple of weeks... and update. Realistically I am just over 5 weeks so only just over one forth healed. Patience please remember patience when going through stage 2....... :).

Ally ... The fills can be painful as first. Hang in there. I don't even know what they filled me to. My ps didnt even discuss size of implant. I just told him I wanted slightly bigger.... i was so busy with working full time and going to school fulltime....  fortunate ly they are a pretty good size.  I think about 150 cc smaller I  would   have been fine with also.... .

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. The ride home went well. I snoozed off and on and read. DH took my drains out this aft. So I am looking forward to a shower tomorrow night.

I have to admit that so far (3days) I kind of liked my pre stage 2 better than post except for that my left was bigger than right. Now my left seems smaller than it was....we were joking that PS harvested from left and injected into hips. Bad joke but nice to laugh.

Anyway thanks Stix for the reminder to be patient. Truly I do know that it is too early to tell anything.

Oh and I DO like the dogear revision

Good the hear 1toC.  Yep have patience.  It is quite difficult.

I have had way too many surgeries- so I thought to have another was just going to make me scream.  But- I am more at ease if I do have to have another- Probably b/c my new P.S is a lot nicer and willing to work with me... :)

Keep us posted 1toC Great to hear your doing well

update 1 week out: starting to like them...thought they'd be a little bigger but I am liking them. Love the gone dog ears. Like that side boob is smaller. Curious what a few more weeks out will bring.

Any "must do"s? We are headng o Petosky for DD soccer tourney. Never been there. Area looks nice in pictures. Would appreciate any suggestions from those who've experienced. Thanks

    The1toC,

Petsoskey is a pretty area. If you like shopping then downtown area has lots of little shops with somewhat pricey things you probably wouldn't 't find elsewhere. May be having sales this time of year. There is the Odawa casino. If you like scenery, go north out of Petoskey along Lake Michigan to Cross Village. It is listed as the most beautiful drive in Michigan. It is a very twisted winding road and is called the tunnel of trees. There is an old general store along this route that is kind of fun to go through. You will eventually wind up at Cross Village and you must go into Leggs Inn for lunch or dinner. It is Polish Food but if you don't like that cuisine at least order a piece of their carrot cake so you can look around and learn the history of this place all made out of unusual tree roots and branches and why it is called "Legg's" Inn. Sit in their beautiful gardens out back for a bit and enjoy the scenery. Have fun!

the 1toC, I spent many years going to that Petoskey tournament. It was always a lot if fun and in a beautiful location.  My dd team always stayed at the condos at Boyne.  The click road fields are nestled in a pretty location.  I also like the downtown Petoskey shopping and so did the girls.  My dd is a freshman at msu and we are empty nesters now.

Glad you like what you see a week out.  Did you have any fat grafting done? My ps told me yesterday he wants to do some but not sure if at time of exchange or after.  My date is Oct 29

I am from Michigan, and very alone dealing with breast cancer. I have no family support or any close friends to talk to. I just want to get threw my treatment and enjoy living, but it is very lonely.

    Welcome Sapphyre,

Sorry you have to deal with cancer but this is a great support group. Can you give us an idea yet of your diagnosis or surgery? Your age? Children? Interests? I'm sure you will find someone going through similar treatments and circumstances on these threads. Sorry you are feeling lonely, hopefully we can help you out in that area too.

    Jo

Thanks everyone for the Petosky suggestions - you've made me really excited to go now. I looked up Leggs - looks very cool and I am excited to get there. Maybe we can catch a sunset on Sat. supposed to be good weather.

My stage 2 was dry lipo fat harvest to lateral thighs and graft into foobs and port site, scar revision - getting rid of thick areas and folds on foobs, getting dog ears gone.

Welcome Sapphyre, welcome to the cancer club, sorry you got to join.  Looks like you are in Flint? Does the hospital there have a breast cancer coordinator? That is often a big help to ladies. Also besides this great support group, is there one that actually meets in your area?  I also have no family close - or even in this country! and few local close friends. I hope that you will shortly be pleasantly surprised at the support you DO have locally, more than you ever imagined. Be open. and although often hard, be willing to accept help and support. Sometimes that is one of the lessons we can gain from this crappy experience of cancer.  At the least, we are all here for you - fall yourself into our raft of support.

Yes, please share some more info. to help us help you.
