    Theda, beautiful shots of paradise.

Ariom, What a cute bird. I have never seen one but I know in our music books there is a song about one.

Lisa, Your little guy in some ways looks so innocent but on the other hand there is a look in that eye!

Oh, Ariom – Now I’ve got the Kookaburra song stuck in my
head!!! Of course you know it, it's Australian, right?

I think every little girl in the U.S. who was in Girl Scouts learned this song…
here are the lyrics for those who didn't, and the link below it is to some elementary school kids singing it
    in a round.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,

    Merry,
merry king of the bush is he,

    Laugh,
    Kookaburra, Laugh, Kookaburra,

    Gay
    your life must be.

    Kookaburra
sits in the old gum tree

    Eating
all the gumdrops he can see

    Stop,
    Kookaburra, Stop, Kookaburra

    Leave
    some there for me.

    Kookaburra
sits in the old gum tree,

    Counting
all the monkeys he can see

    Stop,
    Kookaburra, Stop, Kookaburra,

    That's
    no monkey, that's me.

Theda, I love those shots of paradise. I want to be there, with a nice Pina Colada!

Ariom, Great shot of that cute little Kookaburra, so cute!!

Lisa, he may be naughty but he is a beauty. Lovely photo!!

Nancy, Beautiful Fall colors. Sometimes I forget how lucky we are at this time of year in the North. I just wished it went from Fall to Spring!! Snow is pretty but if I never saw any more I would be just fine with that!

I have had a few days break in Virginia and took some pics but not as good as last year. Feeling a bit run down and fatigued but here are a few.

    image

These little guys reminded me of a choir, the way they were lined up with the large ones at the back - and a lot of quacking!

I think these may be bluebirds below?

The place where we stay always puts a display up before Halloween and the local residents do their own thing!!

Thanks Lisa and Lizzysmom. Lzm, I have never seen white ducks with Canada geese before. Love that Heron shot. I would love to see a bluebird. I think those might be Eastern bluebirds. I saw a funny thing on the way home today. There was a motorcycle in front of me and his passenger was a skeleton!  I imagine he got quite a few looks as he passed by. LOL  Your cute Halloween pics reminded me of that.

Nancy C. beautiful sunset. Almost a third done. Hang in there. It will be over before you know it.

Lzm, Do you think the tamoxifen is making you so tired. Once I started taking my Arimidex at night that seemed to solve a lot of my issues. I saw my MO today and he thinks things are good. Hopefully the worst is over now with the SE.  Could you try taking yours at night if you are not already.  I had to ask my MO or it was ok first. Maybe that would help your fatigue.

Oh ladies the colors of the trees are just amazing and the birds are like nothing I have ever seen before. The blue is so vivid.

ncollet, you're about a third of the way through, take it easy! What a sunset....beautiful.

Blessings, I had  a laugh at the words of the Kookaburra song, we all sang it at school when we were kids, but I don't recall ever hearing the second or third verses. Kookaburras love to eat lizards, mice and snakes, so they sit on the back of that outdoor lounge and wait for the small Geckos to come out in the sun and then they swoop down and bash them on the ground, before they eat them. I am not very good with all this new nature stuff. I am a born and bred City girl, so I am not really used to  all this! lol Although this guy I took the picture of looked small and cute, he is actually one of the larger ones and would measure about 10'' tall.

Thanks Theda and Ariom. Isn't it amazing how our local birds in our part of the world are so fascinating and vice versa.

Lisa, I would sure like to go grocery shopping with you sometime. SmileBeautiful pics.

    Nancy C, beautiful sunset!!

Lisa, Your friend is so fortunate. What a gorgeous view to have. I have never seen a photo of the San Diego skyline, beautiful shot and I love the flowers and little bird too!!

Nancy BW, I still marvel at the colors of even the local birds, the reds and yellows of the cardinals and goldfinches and this week the bluebirds, such a treat to see them. So different from where I was born.  I have been taking the tamoxifen at night as I got very grumpy when I tried it in the morning. Not sure if it was the tamox. or just me!! The ladies on the tamoxifen thread mentioned possible iron deficiency so I will have to look into that.

Hi Lizzysmom. I have been on my drug a month or so longer than you have. For me a lot has happened in these last few weeks. I did see my MO on Tues and he thinks that hopefully the worst is over for me as far as SE's. Maybe that will be the case for you too if you think it is the drug. I did find myself getting more impatient at first. I don't notice that so much anymore. Also you started rads later than me also. I had fatigue from that for several weeks afterwards. You are still working too and I don't have that to deal with.
Have you had any recent blood work done? I bet you will feel yourself before long.

I am going to our local arboretum this Sat with a friend. I was looking up something else and got this whole list of birds that are there. A birders paradise and I didn't even know. I am not a birder per say but I would love to join the Arboretum just to have some photo opps. I have had two different friends bring up the possibility of having some of my pics on display at this one really neat place. The catch is the photos have to be taken on their grounds to enter this photo contest. So I might check out that place soon. It has really neat gardens and an old museum. The deadline is Nov. 7 so not a lot of time left.

Hope you have a more energetic day.

    Beautiful photos Lisa!!

Nancy, the arboretum sounds like so much fun and a wonderful photo op. so you get yourself over there and start snapping!!! I am only working 3 days now and only 2 in the office so its not as stressful. I have had a week off and hopefully energy will return. I just wish I had the energy to do things I really want.

I DID just get the eclipse BUT as I have been in Virginia it only started as the sun was setting which was frustrating. We were in a restaurant at the time and I kept popping out to a good spot to see if it had started

Wow ladies. I am impressed. I was in my car driving into the sun late afternoon and I had totally forgot about the eclipse. I was thinking this would make a great sunset. Well good thing I didn't have my camera or I would be blind! I am having enough trouble with my eyesight!

Lzy, Love the pics with the trees too. Beautiful.

I just got back from taking my swan family pic to the framers. I was so excited. I got this cute young  gal that helped me so much. She was really into photography. She was excited hearing my swan story on my way to radiation and I was excited to hear how she got all this equipment from this photographer who used to take pics for the Sears catalogue. He was getting rid of his equipment and her Dad knew this guy and he just gave it all to her. She now has almost what she needs to start her own dark room and possible studio. I just said you are way ahead of me!  It turned out to be quite expensive but it is going to be triple matted with an oak frame and a gold plate with my name etc. I had forgot to sign it and on my way there I realized that. Gee could I be any more wet behind the ears. LOL  She talked me into things that I would have not done. Good things.  It will take two weeks to finish. I am really excited. I did go to Michaels. I am not sure if they are in other parts of the country or not.

Yes, I need to get in gear and get over to this place to take some pics and enter another contest. I would have never dreamed I would be doing this a year ago. The silver linings to bc indeed. This young gal pointed out to me that if I had not had radiation I would have never met my swan family. I said exactly.  I was sad when I didn't see the swans on my way to my MO on Tuesday. This girl knew someone who knew all about it and she said there is a place they take them for the winter. I had been trying to find something online to that effect. It truly is a small world. I also read where the adults mate for life so hopefully the same ones will be back next spring. I noticed they are banded so they do know which ones are which. Okay enough of my rambling. Have a good night everyone.

These were taken at an outdoor concert before fireworks. Lisa your sky pics reminded me of these. Yours are more interesting with the trees in the forefront.

Nancy, I love the light shining through the clouds, very uplifting. Sometimes bad things do have a silver lining.  At least you got to see the swans and open up new opportunities with your photography. My stupid car accident was not in the same ballpark as a BC diagnosis but it kick started my picture taking too.

Thanks Lizzysmom. Actually I have had more blessings on this bc journey than bad stuff and I have had a lot of bad stuff. So I think the old making lemonade out of lemons worked for both of us.Smile

Here are some pics of my backyard. I really needed to have been out there sooner as I really needed more sunshine. These are red embers maples in my backyard. They actually get even more red but I wanted to get them before they all fell.
