Lisa, rest and recover. Hope you get some pain relief very soon. Praying for you.

Well the supermoon eclipse was a total bust here. Even the Nasa feed wasn't showing us anything. So hoping for good weather this weekend. Want to get some good shots of dd's soccer game on Sat. and have a good time Sunday photographing the 10 mile BC walk which I was originally training for. I'm so glad they asked me to help with the photography.

    Scottie,

I went out around 7pm and it was completely cloud covered as was predicted. However I did get to see the full moon in both red and white. I made a late night run to the pharmacy and I saw the red moon but no camera. By the time I got home it was cloud covered again. I had a chance to get the white full moon but was too tired to deal with my tripod and I knew I would only have a few seconds of opportunity. I did get some blood moon pics last fall I believe it was. I am thinking about possibly a side hobby of selling photo notecards. I notice you talk about money shots sometimes. Can you tell me what that means and what venue you use to sell your photography? I am retired and a caregiver for my mom which means I am gone a third of the year staying with her as she is three hours away. I don't want a second career but would possibly like a money making hobby and donate to charity. Any help or advice you can give would be appreciated.

    Bandwoman,

What I call my "money shots" are pix that I will possibly enter in the State Fair or another contest in the future. I used to enter shots each year and have won several awards, but I haven't had the time for the past few years. I have several that I want to get ready and mounted to enter next year. Most of my photography I don't charge for. I no longer have the time to photograph whole soccer games for teams. I used to earn $100 or more per game for parents who wanted to share the pixs. I have done school photos and senior photos for no charge for my kids' school and I still photograph their winter ball each year. I just use it as a write-off when I don't charge.

I have designed and sold note cards in the past as well. It's a great idea. You need a good photography website. Check out BetterPhoto.com. For a reasonable annual fee you can upload your "money shots," organize then in albums/pages by types and let people see them. Then use them to design stationary, cards etc...

Thanks for the info. When you sold notecards did you print your own or have them printed? I will check out that website. I am mainly interested in nature so I know that limits my market. I am really a newbie as far as really getting passionate about my photography for a little over a year. I won a newspaper contest which helped to ignite my photography passion. It was actually because of my bc cancer that started all of this. I saw a couple of swans on my way to radiation and I was so thrilled as I am a backyard birdwatcher that I looked for them every day to and from radiation. I really saw it as a gift from God as a bright spot in a dark journey. The swans had five babies and I was able to get some good photographs of the whole swan family and that was my winning photo that started it all. So that was definitely by silver lining in my cancer journey. Thanks again.

I am getting there , Nancy, thanks for asking..

I do make note cards for various organizations as a hobby. I don't want the money , so I give them away, or they use them as raffle prizes etc. I make them usually for that particular organization say like the DAR, where they would be patriotic. I use card stock with print shop. They turn out well. and I only use normal printing mode not best..

Nasty weather here today, but the rain held off enough for us to enjoy (albeit with an umbrella), our daughter's college soccer game. Also nice that we were able to attend an away game and that our team one. My girl is #11.

Nevertheless, I really appreciate that the opposing team was wearing pink in honor or breast cancer awareness month. Tomorrow, I photograph day 2 of the Atlanta 2-day.

Lisa, glad to here back from you and that you are recovery. I'm still "getting there" 10 weeks post EX.

I am still in the stage of figuring what note card paper to get. I am also getting into that time of year where I am back and forth to my mom's so my time is not my own during that time. Lisa, I hope you are feeling better and strong each day.

Scottie, I did check out that photo site. I was quite impressed with all of the photos. I feel like they are all much more experienced and out of my league but it was fun to see what they were all into.

Nice soccer shots. I bet your daughter is very good. I am working on a photo album for my mom. Her 90th birthday is Monday. I will be down there for a week or more starting this weekend.

Lisa: : I have been away from site for over a month, so now you are post op - and getting there. Is that code for I'm still in pain but somewhat less than weeks ago? Your note card contributions to groups sounds like a wonderful idea and you get to share your creations and contribute at the same time.

When to my post op appointment with the doctor, he seems happy with the outcome. He had to do so much

extra work inside my arm..bone grafting, scar tissue scraping, etc..plus trying to get the bones together. I already

feel better and saw my PT yesterday..she is going to take it slowly.. Oh, I forgot to say my hummers are back..

Welcome back Magic. Hope you had a good trip.

Lisa, sounds like things are progressing nicely. I hope you pain is manageable now. I have a couple of neighbors who have hummer feeders so I have been able to reap the benefits of that. I have seen a hummer more this year than ever before but I haven't seen it lately so it is probably in your backyard now! Do your hummers not stay all year? That one is a beauty. Hope your PT goes well.

Nancy, feels good to be home and now need to get to review photos.

Lisa: Slow and easy with rehab sounds like a good plan.

I have a hummer who comes to my one tree every evening and spends the night. Not close enough nor enough light to photograph.

Just a few pictures of the courageous walkers from this past weekend. Most of these men and women walked 30 miles over the weekend. I was hurting after walking just 5 miles or so on Sunday while I was driving around photographing them.

Love all of the pics ladies.

Lisa, hope you are feeling better each day. Glad you are getting out of the house. Love the birds and the zoo animals.

Scottie, I think our bees are just about to be done for the season as we have a freeze predicted for Friday. I never thought I would have spent a very long time photography bumble bees in my lifetime but I started this summer. As you may remember I am scared to death of bees. Nice shots.

bandwoman. . .Thanks. Im terrified of wasps and yellow jackets. Allergic to them. The bumblebees I can handle if there are only a few. I lose my fears when I'm behind the lens.

Lisa. . .sweet picture of your orangutans. We have a baby about 2 years, I think. I always start at the zoo with the Pandas who are often inside the day rooms where I can't get good pixs. Then I wander around and see who's out and animated.

Scottie, our Pandas are down a steep hill and I am not always sure I can get up from there...for now I am sticking close to the entrance until I get my strength up..hopefully

Dd's college soccer team hosted a BC Awareness and Fundraiser Day. The team all wore pink laces and dd wore her pink headband. She almost scored a goal for me.

Lovely Pixs Lisa. Do you know what kind of duck that is?
