It is amazing, we watched the San Salvador being built just like back in the 1500s, using the same kinds of wood etc. to make a

replica of the ship that Juan Cabrillo sailed into San Diego harbor, 1524 almost a hundred years before the Mayflower.

    image

and then to see it afloat yesterday was awe inspiring..

Lisa that is so awesome. We were looking at that ship in particular. I will have to tell me husband the story.

Just a bit of fun at the amusement park yesterday. . .they have a small butterfly walk through and my 13yo ds was able to get one on his hand briefly. Just cell phone pix. Not the best quality.

Totally not feeling up to the 4 hour drive back today (dh is driving) and I'm six weeks post surgery ugghh.

Lovely flowers Lisa. Very interesting picture mumito.

Not the best panda day at the Zoo before soccer game. Only papa panda was outside. The Meihem twins were inside asleep and mama panda was in her day room. Mom is in middle on left.

Love the ship being made. Very interesting. Lisa, was this the day you decided to have surgery or not? I was thinking this was the day you saw your doctor. I sure hope it all works out for you.

Scottie, what a precious shot with the Monarch on your son's hand. Love the soccer shot and the pandas.

Mumito, interesting how they sell ice cream.

Been out shooting egrets the past few days. Such interesting birds the way they can move their long necks.

Band, you have a good memory. Yes today was the day. Surgery scheduled for 25th of September with a one or two day hospital stay.

Band. . .love your Egret shots. We have an Egret and a Heron that seem to be fighting for territory on our lake. Only one or the other most of the time. Our Egret is also camera shy. Every time I try to photograph him on my side with my good camera and lens he flies away. I was only able to get close once and had only my cell. Not great pics.

Lisa. . will be thinking of you and sending prayers for your surgery and hosp. stay.

Lisa (are you Joy) I sure to hope that your surgery goes well without any complications. I know this was a gamble for you and I will pray that as the odds are in your favor that things will go without a hitch.

Scottie, thank you. I am fortunate enough to live near a conservation area and they have established this marsh and I imagine purposely put these mounds of grass throughout the area for the ducks and egrets and herons to rest. It truly is an amazing place. I just finished up some PT recently and my last apt was early in the morning. In my retirement I am NOT a morning person. I never am out shooting in the AM. I thought I would drive to this lake early after my PT. I didn't have my camera and now regret it. There were about a dozen white egrets in this tree, and some in the water. There is usually herons around too but I haven't didn't see them yesterday but they can be missed in the reeds in the water. . They all coexist with the mallards. It is really quite a site. Lately the egrets have been pretty far away so it has been a challenge. I got some good shots in the spring. I will have to post when I have more time. I posted them on the bird thread. I am using the same camera Lisa uses for my bird shots. After a neck surgery me and a heavy long lens would not go well together so I use a Canon Power Shot 50X zoom which as you can tell by Lisa's beautiful pictures does a nice job.

    I am Nancy.

Lisa, is this your granddaughter? She is a cutie.

    Scottie, love your zoo collage.

I visited my swans yesterday. I like to think these are the same adults from my swan family that changed my life last year. This is either Mom or Dad.

I am home, but in pain. they had to spend double the time as they had to scrape a lot of scar tissue off bones, blood vessels etc.

Lisa, so good to know you made it through the surgery. I am hoping this will be successful and you will be able to manage the pain very soon. Hopefully you will eventually be able to regain the use of your arm again. Will be thinking of you.
