The worst part of Scotch Broom in WA is that they purposefully planted it on the highway margins to keep the soil from sliding. During bloom season you really need to up the allergy meds to drive on I-5.

I have lots of quail that visit my yard. This mom was hanging vigilant in my rock garden today. Then I discovered she has 8 chics

The flower with the bee is a great shot. And I love that the quail has chicks.

    GMA- gorgeous!

Wren- they were running all over the yard on Monday, back yard and front. I never could imagine those chics moving so fast. I have not seen them in the yard since then, but hear the calls of the quail around in the morning. My new BFFs.

Hmph. I'm just getting my seeds in this past couple of weeks, and they're not very photogenic yet.

The cacti photos are gorgeous. I think they're safe among all those spikes.

I have squash finally - I tried to reseed my beans and they aren't sprouting yet. Thinking I got a bad batch of seeds.

This my favorite azalea. A friend brought it to the hospital after my first mastectomy. It was the kind you get at florist shops. It was light pink with darker centers. After planting in the garden it turned dark. Don't know what happened, but I still love it.

I'm really impressed that it grew outside. I've had bad luck trying to grow florist plants.

    Wren,

Azaleas are pretty easy to grow here in the Pacific Northwest. You can't hardly kill them. That's one of the reasons I like them. I lost one once when we had a very icy winter.

Hmmm. I'll have to try one. In Houston the gardening pages were all about the azaleas and I got the impression they were very hard to grow. I've just never bought one up here.

Didn't do a veggie garden this year. Got a tomato plant though. Got my flowers in the flower bed yesterday. I have marigolds and red and white begonias.

Not sure if you all can see my video but if you are a bird watcher you will like it.

That poor mother/father bird must be exhausted. I'm tired just from watching for a few minutes. Lots of fund to have birds to watch.

I have a family of quail in my yard this year. Today one of the babes seemed to be separated from the bevy of babes and might have been in trouble. I created a little place to cover it and think its gone and either the parents came to help or it found a better place to shelter. I hope this little one makes it, it got very cold here last night

Was watering my plants this morning when I noticed my Christmas Cactus is sprouting new growth and my new Pothos has new growth as well. Tomato plant has 5 tomatoes growing already.

I was watering my plants this morning, too, when I noticed a fairly large bell pepper and a handful of smaller peppers. All appearing in the last few days.

Plants are amazing as you watch them grow

Also, so many flowers in bloom out front that I am hit with their sweet smell the moment I step outside. So lovely!

One of my begonias that didn’t even have a flower on it when I planted it, now has one!

Begonias are so pretty. I used to have them planted in hanging baskets along a fence. Loved the color.
