Good Lord now we have a giant government balloon loose over Pa. at 16,000 feet above ground........it was in Lancaster just a bit ago, and now is in New Wilmington, Pa.they have no clue how they are going to get it down, and concern is for the commercial air traffic coming in between now and dark............it has 2 tethers hanging off it which could be a threat also to planes since they hang down about 200 feet from the balloon..........

It is headed Northeast, so North Jersey and N.Y. they need to get it because of JFK, LaGuardia, and other airports in that vicinity.......................talk is they might have to shoot it down...........'however it is full fo helium............

Ducky- it's official- wherever you go, excitement follows. Just to be clear though, this is an unmanned defense balloon.

    No pilot.

Otherwise I'm sure they would have called you to sort it out.

    Jacki...........LMAO................

Can you imagine this thing dragging along hooking on to everything in its path...right now there are 24,000 homes without electric and a fire from the cable hitting a power station.........

And yes, if it was manned, and my Pilot was in charge this would not have happened........he always has his things under control..........LOL............

It still has not hit the ground........floating above, but not yet completely down.......I wouldn't want to be the house under it when it does.................WOW.......big new home, big law suit.................Ya hoo................U.S. government, plus Norad to sue................Baby you got yourself some claim..........too bad it didn't land on my shore house......I wouldn't have to worry about selling it........I could just sue everyone, and buy a nicer, bigger, one right on the beach...............LOL

Ducky- what a great idea! LMAO on the shore house and it would be like winning the lottery!

I'm making this feast for 5 people tomorrow. Sula's Lamb Korma plus many side dishes and desserts. This particular group of people (my brother, my bestie and DH from SoCal and my closest friend locally) have never sat down together for a meal. It has taken on greater importance than it probably should, but this is IRL. My whole world in one room! HOPING it turns out ok. Posting pics in case Sula, Bollywood Mothership, can sign off on what I have so far. For color there will be green beans, maybe something red or orange I'm going to take a stab at poori bread, but have good quality back up naan in the freezer.

All of the spices are in except the Garam masala at the end. The cardamom pods and cinnamon and cloves smell amazing. I'm cooking it on low for forever. I did half plain yoghurt, half cream. Kind of reminds me of beef stroganoff. Or as I like to say, a herd of masturbating cattle

6 days from SLNB (6 nodes) and still a little swollen in the upper arm... this morning it was worse than yesterday but now after some ice and tylenol I do feel better. I meet tomorrow for my follow up . . . any advice? I'm an anxious type and overthink everything. Because of my discordant biopsy followed by an excisional biopty, my breast surgeon has been designated as the quarterback for my care. Her extremely busy and harried nurse is my "nurse navigator?" The brochure I got at the beginning of this made it sound like I would have this wonderful caring team who would give me massages and nutrition advice and be there whenever I had a question . . . instead, Monday I don't hear back about the pathology, so at the end of the day I called breast surgeon's office and waited on hold for 15 minutes to accidentally get hung up on, called back waited 10 more minutes, gave up, and called the oncologist nurse instead, got hung up on there as well, called back the fourth and final time and finally got through to someone. And that did the trick, I quickly got a call back first from the nurse (who looked in my file and saw my nodes were negative, she was able to give me the good news on the spot), and then later I got a call from the breast surgeon... it was at 6pm, hats off to her for working after hours... I talked to her about my swelling and she was concerned about a blood clot. So yesterday I went to see my normal doctor, he reassured me that my swelling wasn't a blood clot but maybe could be start of lymphedema. What should I or could I say to get the best care possible tomorrow at my BS follow up appointment? If it is lymphedema what should I be doing next? BS said to elevate my arm and ice it... I'm trying to catch up on work. I'm left handed and it's my left arm affected. Now that I finally have a diagnosis, I am hoping and guessing the oncologist will be taking the driver's seat? I'm not really happy with my breast surgeon being in charge of everything, I just don't think she or her staff have the time... in fact tomorrow I meet an ANRP because the BS is too busy. So discouraging. Well on the bright side I am Stage 1 and it's out with a good margin, I'm blessed and maybe leaving me to whine is allowing others who need it to get the TLC they really need. Time for some kind of sedative you think?

Eggroll- first, congrats on the clear nodes. That needs to be celebrated! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎈🎈🎈🎈🎉💃💃💃💃💃💃🎈🎈🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Only a PT or an OT who have had special training can really dx and treat LE. At a minimum, I would ask tomorrow for a referral/script for LE evaluation and range of motion therapy. But try to research this yourself quickly first and find someone who works with BC patients. If you can find someone like that, and check if your insurance will cover, then you can ask specifically for your BS a to refer you there. If you haven't had a chance to research the right person, and the bs doesn't have exactly that kind of person to refer you to, ask if you can follow up in a few days with the name of the person/place where you would like yo be treated.

These days, in some forward thinking treatment centers, they measure you for a sleeve (baseline, before any swelling has had a chance to develop) before you even have these procedures. But unfortunately, many surgeon's (mine included) believe the SNLB procedure virtually eliminates the chance of LE. Not true. In the end I got my MOs office to refer me first. Then later, my pcp did it. Good luck. So glad for the great news.

Eggroll: this is Crazytown--where else could we go to let the frantic brain gerbils run free when we're faced with a situation just of the sort you are....as many of us have been! The process of progressing through treatment for ANY sort of cancer is automatically crazymaking.

That said, if your particular process is interfering with getting on with life, don't be shy about asking for chemical assistance. Or about staying on it as long as you need to be on it. I'm on trazodone and happy with that as I'll need it for the foreseeable future but some need only an occasional boost for a very few weeks.

But stick around here--the ladies (and an occasional gentleman) are wonderful about moral support, and food porn, and genuine sympathy.

Good afternoon to the crazies....I can't stay long, as I am trying to rest, relax and not think about anything related to BC for a few days....even though I admit that I am checking in to lurk and read up on all my crazies at least twice a day. Thinking of you all, and sending you good healing, loving vibes from the Pacific Ocean....the ocean has been good for my soul! (as it always is) We saw a whale today right from the deck of the Monterey Aquarium....and the Giant Pacific Octopus put on a huge show (moving around, changing colors, etc etc) just for me this am! He (or she?) knows a kindred spirt when he sees one!

More later when I am back to reality (which won't be until Saturday, I am pleased to say...)

    xoxxo and (((((((((hugs))))))

eggroll - below is a link that most of the BCO people refer to for LE questions. There are also a number of threads on this site. Jackbird is correct, you need a referral to an LE trained PT. The sooner you start, the better the outcome. Good luck.

    Octo, that's awesome!

Eggroll, it could be just post surgical swelling though too. I know my place had me doing range of motion exercises very gently a couple of days after surgery, and then increasing slowly what I could do. I got it pretty bad a few months in, I think I must have tried to pick up something too heavy too soon. Please be careful, and insist on seeing a lymphedema therapist if your place has one. Like katy says, good places are now trying to establish a baseline and tell you a little about it before you even begin. The good thing is, since you are her2neg, you may be able to forego chemo. Are they going to do the oncotype DX test for you?

I forgot to tell you yesterday, slow, but after I left that doctors office yesterday, I went to a store over there, and after seeing all the bacon postings yesterday morning, I was delighted to discover bacon jerky! I bought a package, it didn't last four hours... Now I need to go back to the store! Portable bacon! You can tuck it in your purse! Or we can bring it to pocket parties..

I had to go to the dr, cause I had an infected pubic hair follicle! Or a bug bite there?? Painful, and it was just getting worse and worse. The doc said it was absessed , but then on the after visit summary, it said cellulitis, a skin infection! I never really thought of cellulitis as a skin infection! I thought it was more of septic inflammation, not that I know what that would be either! Just that I thought c. would just make the skin red. Anti-b's for 10 days now.

Hope everybody's ok and not in too much pain or anything, and nothing landing on your houses. Gonna watch the opening ceremonies of the Laker's game tonight with my man. Who has started a terrifically big skillet of his wonderful vegetarian chili beans for us! I will use another skillet later when the beans are almost ready, for a pan of corn bread.

    cause I can't have any of katy's lamb....sigh

Ooh, Shorfi. Beautiful beach. I love Ocean City; it's been years. Makes me want soft shell crab. Now! Nice about the flowers, and of course it's the thought that counts.

Ducky, what did you do with that balloon!

BollyKaty, how was the dinner? Looks so good!

Octo, you sound SO relaxed. Enjoy...

Eggroll, glad for the path report and sorry about the LE. When the east and west coast factions of C-Town get together, we can compare sleeves. Big sigh.

    Proud--kale with mushrooms? YUM.

Big news here today: I have eyelashes! The real thing! You pull them and they don't come out! And they're coming in brown, not gray.

    Later, Gators!

That link was really helpful. I may have been overdoing it after surgery.... those tips were surprising. I was lifting my arm quite a bit, I thought that was good for me. Thank you guys so much... and everyone is saying that getting allergy shots are no problem... but I don't feel like that makes sense until the swelling goes down.

Eggroll, I found that the recommendations I got from my local medical people conflicted with what Step Up Speak Out was saying. They told me to go ahead and start stretching after just one week, but Step Up Speak Out said to wait at least 10 days to allow for more healing, so I went with that. I'm erring on the side of caution myself.

Congrats on the eyelashes, rainny! It must be so weird to be without them.

Octogirl, that sounds like fun. Enjoy your break and relax.

Ducky, that balloon thing was just bizarre. Reminded me of how scientists always blame UFO sightings on weather balloons - maybe they can claim this was a UFO!

Saw the surgeon for a followup today, he wants me to see an RO for another opinion. Things just keep getting more complicated! It's like Crazy Town's suburb, Complicated Corner.

No shots! Not in that arm! I don't care who tells you it's okay, its not!!! Or blood pressure cuff on that arm either!! You do not want lymphedema, I assure you! Mine is pretty bad, cause surgeon wold not believe me and send me to the LE'ist, until it was way to late. I can get my arm a little smaller, but it will never stay that way.

Oh, and I did have that mirror out last night, and the magnifying glass too. Used the night light though.

I have been reading all up on triglycerides, and long chain fatty acids, medium chain fatty acids, which actually aid in weight loss. And MCT's are abundant in coconut oil! But that all led me to think, the crazytown kit you get when you come here, has the mirror, magnifying glass, and flashlight. All for looking for the dreaded spread of all kinds of cancers. So, I was thinking, we make a medicine bag, and put the coconut oil in it, and also bacon. These things are for strictly healing when you find the crazy cancer! Any one up for adding things to the medicine bag?

I told one of my co-workers today after the referral to the RO that I didn't know what was going to happen next, but we were definitely going to need more chocolate. I say it goes in the medicine bag. We can make it dark chocolate, isn't that supposed to have good stuff in it?

Absolutely! It makes you feel better, and it also scientifically helps lower blood pressure! Personally, I like mine with a little sea salt and cayenne pepper. Any kind of chocolate has magical powers, though.

    Jack....

Looking good... Just remember looooong slow simmer. I usually make this a day ahead and then let the favors mellow overnight.

    Ducky,

I thought maybe that balloon pilots was at your place and that's why his blimp got away. Glad that's all straightened out.

Octo... Sounds like you are having a nice restful time. Lucky.

    Egg,

Take it easy and stay on the mend.

    Shorfi... That's one inviting beach!

    Gaia, Slow,

A quick hello... This has been an exhausting day. We had the power off all day as they were doing road work in the area so no phone, no light, no wifi, no nothin. Anyhow I'm going to be baking a duplicate of Pepins b'day cake for Halloween at our house.

We're also getting this product we're involved with ready for market on Black Friday . It's an exciting chance that a great company has offered us I'll be telling you guys more as I am able. And, there is the script ( our regular work)

I am going for herceptin on Friday.. I have been having nerve sensitivity in my right temple forehead area the last couple of days sort of like sinus issues... I had shingles on the left side of my head and optic nerve when I was 18 and I really hope this is not some kid of flair up on the other side and that it's just some sort of sinus thing as I've been a bit congested in that area and my port hurts. Oh well.

The Academy has started sending us this years movies for awards voting... They come fedexed and we must sign for them in person . My husband gets a copy and I get a copy so we have doubles of everything.... Anyway after all today's security etc.. I get my envelope from the guy and it's the latest Fast and Furious movie...I can't believe anybody seriously thinks this is going to get an academy award nomination for screenplay!!!! There's not a lot of words in this movie. There's mainly a lot of grunting and breaking glass. There are so many great movies coming out this Winter and here I am watching this. Yikes.

Ok... So before my iPad eats this 'gnite all

Sula, somebody's trying to get an academy award nomination for a Fast and Furious movie? Seriously? That movie series just keeps getting more preposterous. I'm always surprised when the next one comes out, and think "are they still doing that?" I think even my niece finally outgrew them.

I just can't see it award wise. I was shocked when I opened the envelope. The film made 1.5 billion so I imagine they wanted to try and get some nominations and asked the studio to push for it but.... Wow I dunno about this one.
