    Morning Crazies

I've been skimming our 'paper' but haven't been on computer much ( yay) to properly say hello.

    HELLOOOOOOOO!

Lots of sage advice here, as always, on lamb and lymphadema.

Tom I love the medicine bag and yes i do believe that is a good assumption; cured bacon cures. Sorry to hear you are on a round of antibiotics. Yarrow tincture is a great anti-infective.... apply some with a cotton ball. And high does echinacea- I mean high - like 4 dropper full every hour...don't forget to eat yogurt and fermented food with the anti-b's.

( I'm not a doctor, but I play one in CT)

Sula, fast and furious for reals? that's just cray. LOL. Sorry your port and right temple hurt, maybe it's time for a coconut oil rub? but seriously I hope it all settles down soon.

Katy how was the lamb dinner? Hope your brothers visit is nourishing you.

Shorfi, yes a beautiful beach! looking forward to touching some surf myself next weekend.

Octo hope your time is like a mini honeymoon!

    Slow..... hello.

I'm sorry for forgetting if some of you have had appointments this week- Rain I know you met with the RO, but I hold everyone in my minds eye for ease and good results all the time.

Ok Have to wrap it up for now. Citybound and then making lunch for a 'colleague' of sorts, from the 'yoga world'. More later your beautiful crazies

Yes, bacon heals! Hah! My Grandma used to put a piece of raw bacon over a thorn or piece of metal, or an ingrown hair, tape it on, and then it was GONE!

So Tomboy! Just get a piece of bacon, tape it on your whatever, and it will go away! Winking Now this is from someone who KNOWS! Actually I had that same thing, like where my leg connects on, in the crease, and it was Soooooo sore! I finally thought to myself, well THIS ain't gonna go away unless it gets drained.... SO I did it myself! Damn it hurt! Just don't go putting alcohol on it right after... Just sit there and whimper, and keep a cold wet cloth on it, until you can move again, then limp into the other room.... Find some soothing antibiotic cream, and put that on... It WILL go away...

Eggroll, where is the swelling? Is it like a hard lump? Or a "swelling"? I had a Seroma in my breast... which is a pocket filled with fluid. It HURT, but gradually drains away... or is absorbed... or wherever this stuff goes... But all the gals suggestions were helpful here~ If you can't get your team to work with you, just get mad, and raise some kind of hell... Glad your nodes were okay...!

See, me and Ducky just don't take that kind of attitude anymore... When you get older, you learn that people will treat you anyway they want, but it is up to you to speak up. I quit my "Oncologist" because he swore I should do chemo.... both my surgeon AND radiologist said I shouldn't need chemo... My onco score was 19 which was a low-intermediate. Then I thought I had to be under the care of ANOTHER "Oncologist".... So SHE naturally put me on Tamoxifen.... After 1 1/2 years, I lost my hearing... The label WARNS of possible strokes... So I had one in my brain-stem, near the auditory nerve, and overnight I couldn't hear. TRY getting someone to beLIEVE you! After researching, and going crazy, I DID find that YES it could! So I dumped the other Oncologist, because she wouldn't listen....

Write down all your questions, and then the answers... but be your own advocate... These dink doctors sometimes don't have the time or knowledge to help us.... JMOHO

Definitely bacon for the welcome kit--so many uses for the stuff beyond simply eating it! And including something to read makes sense; even I had a lot of down time during treatment and I didn't have chemo. All that waiting in doctors' offices! (I'm now known as 'the knitting lady' for that reason.)

Sula- (and everyone) I made it yesterday. Simmered forever. Put it back on this morning. No Garam masala in it yet. I tasted it. It was good, not spectacular. Dinner is tonight. Maybe the poori will steal the show anyway!

    Good Afternoon Crazies!!

I've been catching up on some long needed sleep the past few days.

Eggroll, Sending best wishes for your follow up appointment today!! We will all be in your pocket!!

    image

Please let us know how it goes. I hope you're able to find a good LE specialist.

Lucy, I've missed you! So good to see you post. What have you been up to??? Resting your back? I'm sorry to hear you're in pain. Hope it's better soon. Maybe your DH can give you a gentle massage.

Blondie, Waving to you and sending gentle hugs!!

Shorfi, Beautiful beach photo! I must be blind as a bat, I saw no message in the sand.

Ducky, Bummer the big blimp didn't hit your shore house. That would have solved a few things for you! Your description cracked me up!

PTS, Hope the back is still continuing to get better.

Katy, Your dinner looks wonderful. I'm sure it will be a big hit. VERY PROUD of you for your piece - you write so well!! I will post it on my blog tonight. If you post the link to the last one, I will post that as well. Maybe you can send them by PM???

Queen, Hi! Hope all is well with you.

Octo, Glad you checked in. Good to see you!

Tomboy, Bacon jerky sounds so good. The medicine bag is an excellent idea!! Do you want me to add that to the CT starter kit, or will you just give that out as needed? I'd like to add chocolate covered marshmallow cookies from Kroger. Great for constipation!! haha Has to be that brand though....the others don't work.

    Rain, YAY for eyelashes!!

Cubbie, If you mentioned you were having a follow up appt. with your surgeon, I'm sorry I missed it. Let us know when you see the RO and we will all jump in your pocket. Here are some pretty flowers for you for my blunder!!

    image

Sula, You're a busy woman. Good to see you checking in! I never saw that movie....not really my cup of tea.

Gaia, Hi!! Hope you're getting plenty of rest.

Chevy, I think we should go back to some of those old remedies. Be your own advocate. I'm very much in agreement with that statement!! Love your bacon offerings!! Gave me a good chuckle.

Queen, You should post a picture of your knitting creations. I'm always in awe of people that have the talent to create with their hands. Something I'm lacking.

If there are any appointments coming up, please let me know. The next one I have is for Tomboy on Nov. 3rd. Other than that, I don't have any more on the spreadsheet!!

Love and greetings to anyone I didn't mention above. I'm really glad it's Friday!!! I'm dragging just a bit and it's always nice when my DH is home. I see many naps in my future weekend!

    Love to all....quiet crazies too!!

    EFT - Lots of them.

Good day today . . . my radiation doctor is wonderful. Took all kinds of time with me and my husband and then her nurse called my breast surgeon's nurse and let her know I was late for that follow up appointment. They gave me a good LE specialist to see, so I feel a lot less crazy. This past week has not been my proudest moment in Crazytown!

Eggroll, That is why WE have Crazy Town. We can get as crazy as we need to with no judgments or apologies. I'm so glad you're feeling better and I'm happy to hear you've got a good team in place!! We will all be right by your side. I hope you're able to have a good, restful weekend.

Lucy, My DH makes a great maple bacon recipe in the oven. He also makes biscuits with homemade gravy. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. We only do that a few times a year.

    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say a quick hello- I've been through Crazy Town many times the past few weeks - in fact I realize my mind goes there much more than I knew- but if I observe it, sure enough, small aches, eczema- all lead to Crazy Town. I've been lurking and love hearing about every one of you- the amazing op-ed, the whale at the aquarium and the giant octopus- would love to see that!- reviewing movies for screen play awards- is that a dream job or what? And bacon- my daughter has recently discovered bacon and is nuts about it. I personally think the new meat guidelines completely disregard the circumstances of meat production and processing so you can't really take them seriously other than, too many big Macs is probably a bad idea. I think the new Mammo controversy is moot for anyone with dense breasts and the emphasis should be on more MRI and US screening.

A friend of mine lost a 16 year old daughter recently- it was sudden and unexpected- gone in an hour. Then, A 12 year old girl from my kids' school is pretty much on hospice after a year of battling Ewings Sarcoma. Reminds me there are a lot of kinds of Crazy Towns out there.

I left the Friday NYT crossword at the Crazy Town cafe this evening for anyone who is adventurous enough to try it.

    Hugs to all!

just checking in after a wonderful visit with my brother, my friend, my bestie and her DH. Really got times. The lamb korma was a huge hit, as were the side dishes. The poori was indeed Beni Hana-esque. Thanks Sula, for all the help.

My first poori didn't puff. Duh, I threw the golf ball in without rolling it out. I got the hang of it later. Here's some pics.

Katy, you look like you are in your element, so glad your world's collided. Jack looks like he is ruling the roost.

So many crazies popping in and out, love all the stories.

Mmm bacon. My most memorable was bacon encrusted amber jack with creamy peach grits and braised leeks or the bacon wrapped 3 meatloaf. The maple pecan crusted bacon has me drooling.

Eggroll, glad to hear your MD encounters have been positive. To me the wait was agonizingly slow then once things got going it was a whirlwind of tests scans and visits.

PCP visit today and thyroid med reduced, prevnar 13 vaccine given, scheduled a dexascan (thought 2016 was next but she wants one now) OK to start abx to get rid of this sinus infection once and for all. so November is filled up with weekly appointments.

Off for 3 days, going to visit my nephews (25,24 & 21) and their gal pals along with their mom (my dB ex but one of my best friends) this is where SIL stands for sister in love Hug. She remarried in June and I am so happy for her.

My cooking efforts were Mac n cheese and egg sandwich. At least not eating out and more effort than toast or a bowl of cereal. Working 2nd shift has made me lazy.

    Nighty night crazies!!

Thanks for sharing, Rosesrx. That is scary stuff having such a terrible side effect and then having to go against your oncologist. I have made a stink the past couple of weeks myself. My breast surgeon told me one week ago she was coordinating my care, but for my follow up appointment from the lymph node surgery that day, I see an ARNP I have never met before. Because of course she is too busy. Then the ARNP makes my next appointment for six months from now! So she didn't even have time to close the loop with me, say goodbye, take a look at my lymphedema... but she's supposed to be "coordinating my care." Hmmm.... I like my breast surgeon, LOVED the ARNP, and this is not personal, but this is not what I was promised in the brochure as far as someone walking this with me and lighting the path. If it wasn't for you guys I would have probably ended up in a strait jacket. The radiologist and the oncologist are in the same office together, and walking in there this morning I found all the stuff I was expecting three months ago: a calendar of events I can participate in, the nurse navigator finally made her appearance, people spending time explaining things, giving me choices; a puzzle to work; books I can exchange; lots of warm fuzzyness from the front desk.

So to answer your question, my swelling is above and below my elbow. It's soft, there's an inch long welt-looking section of tissue, I thought it was a vein swollen up. There's a tendon or something on my wrist that is a lot bigger than on the other side, and that is pretty hard. The creases on the inside of my elbow are gone and when I bend my elbow you can see a bulge above it. I guess I have some swelling on my side as well, I didn't even know that until she pressed it and I felt the pressure going up. What fun. Hoping and praying if I just lay low for a few more days it might resolve. But they did give me a PT that specializes in lymphedema and I'll be seeing her soon. When I read the operation report, it made me realize how much went in to removing 6 nodes, I guess the last 3 were way way up there, hard to find and took a long time to get out. The nodes way up there had more of the dye in them than the front and center ones. So they just had to go and they went kicking and screaming. Bummmmmm-mer. The report said the first node was swollen and firm... but it was cancer free as well. I guess that could be from the lumpectomy a few weeks before then? I will soon be prescribed Tamoxifen as well, and the radiation will begin soon. I would like to just walk away instead ... ha ha! These doctors are human and we are a passing parade to them most likely, so it's up to us to get what we need.

Good morning, crazies! It is a clear day here in the naked city. Grumpy-guts (a.k.a. 11th grader) off to school. Bills to pay and work to do, so, naturally, I am in C-Town!

Cubbie, I love "Complicated Corner." It's a special suburb for *very* special people in Crazy Town. Yes to medicinal (dark) chocolate.

Lucy, yes, rads done and dusted if not by Xmas then by the New Year.

Proud, could we put a good-looking young man in that medicinal kit? Just askin'. How's your leg?

Slow, "my man makes a great maple bacon recipe" sounds like the first line of a romance novel.

Momwriter, I'm so sorry to hear about your friends' children. What we go through is nothing compared to the families of children with serious illnesses.

Katy, you look like you're having the time of your life. Jack looks pensive and poetic, however.

Rose, are you saying that you had mac 'n cheese and egg sandwich in the same meal? Because if it's true, I would very much like to be you!

Oh, Eggroll. That does not sound like fun. We shall get through LE treatment and rads together, if that makes any difference.

Anyone doing anything fun for Halloween?

morning, well I completely recommend that we include a chiropractor in the welcome kit, they are all (in my experience at least) young, nice looking and oh so accomedating. Since their work involves hands on treatment.....well they need to be . Leg feeling better today, I have some sort of muscle in my left leg that I blame on my old statin, it seems to knot up and when it does, it hurts and I feel a weakness, So this morning is a good day and back is much better.

Beautiful day so need to figure a plan, maybe the beach? just to look at over the ocean is relaxing to me

    Morning Crazies

Eggroll sounds like you are getting/have a plan in place and good that they are connecting you to the PT who can target the lymph.

Katy you look so wonderful in that photo; really beaming. So glad it was such a fulfilling vist and meal.

Mom glad to see you again and so sad for the loss and illness of the young ones.

Rose great for thyroid med redux, hope all the upcoming appointments aren't too crazy making, but then again good thing you have CT to run to.

Slow- maple bacon and biscuits? I need to add in some extra twerking just thinking abut that. I hope you get some solid nap time in this weekend! I am sure to be joining you.

PTS- you and your men! haha glad you quickly found a replacement to your PT man time. and yes perhaps adding one to the medicinal bag ( though I am lucky to still be in the very in love stage- so I'll just hold some on the side for a few years down the line)

Speaking of love- Octo how was your anniversary vacay? how are you feeling?

Tom whats on your plate this weekend? Chili beans and cornbread sounded yum.

Me I'm waiting to hear if my insurance will approve me to go to the triple dose of Herceptin so we can start going every three weeks. Fingers crossed I can start that Monday- though I am a wee bit concerned that it may change my reaction. As of now I've been SE free from the H. just aches from the Tamox- though that too could be the bone mets ( blah). I'm spending the afternoon with a dear friend, having a ladies soiree in celebration of her birthday. It's looking like a champagne and oyster and crudo afternoon. Life is good and includes it all the good the bad and the ugly and the pretty. Truth is I have definitely been up and down the last week. The major shift in my work and physical exercise/mobilty life is getting to me a bit. Gonna try to focus my energy on creating a plan for myself. Who knows maybe it will become part of what I share for my work moving forward.

But I ramble enough. Also hunting for a place to stay next weekend when we go scout out Rhodes Island for our wedding.

I hope everyone has a lovely day and I'm sure to check in again later
