Good Morning Crazies!!
You know, I REALLY love my crazies. Not ONE of you pointed out that yesterday wasn't Friday. hahaha....There I was all caught up in my celebration of Friday, and not one of you pointed out it was ONLY Thursday. It's no wonder I'm the mayor of Crazy Town. I'm REALLY losing it!!
Momwriter, Good to see you again! I am one of those with dense breasts. Mammo didn't catch any of my tumors. I've declined all future mammos and now insist on an US. So sorry to hear about the loss of your friends daughter. Also, the 12-year old girl in hospice. I just can't imagine what that must be like for their families.
Katy, You look radiant in that picture!! I can tell you're a warm and inviting hostess!! Jack looks comfy and cozy by the fireplace. Sounds like a wonderful evening. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us!!
Rose, Great news on the reduction in thyroid meds. Enjoy your time with your nephews and sister in love!! Mac n cheese and egg sandwich sounds yummy to me!
Rain, Grumpy-guts!! hahahahahahahahahaha.....Isn't that the truth at that age???? That really made me laugh and brought back some memories. I'm getting started on that (food) romance novel. Every year we go to our nephew's house down the street. My niece makes a steak stew that is wonderful, and we all bring something to share. Halloween is huge in my neighborhood. Many of the neighbors have fire pits out in their front yards and hand out candy while sitting around their fires. I look forward to it every year. I enjoy watching the little ones in their costumes.
Cubbie, I second "Complicated Corner!"
PTS, Why did I know you would want a young man in the bag????!!! hahahahahaha The beach sounds like a great plan. I wish I could join you.
Gaia, hahahahahahaha......Twerking and maple bacon - what more is there in life??? I hope you're able to get on the three week regimen of Herceptin. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed!! Enjoy your time with your dear friend. Sounds like a perfect day.
Now I'm going to celebrate the REAL Friday!! Woooo hoooooo!! It's Friday!!
Love to all our crazies.......:

well gee, it is hard to keep track of the days when one is not working! one of the sheer joys of retirement is that we do not HAVE to get up at a specific time!
gee in my family, the bacon from Pennsy is highly cherished and we all stock up on it when visiting the Lancaster area. We who live in other states actually request it as gifts at Christmas and my New England nephews go nuts for it!

Orange is the New Black halloween costumes at my office. I'm Red, the Russian lady, on the far right. And can I say I have never felt and looked more ridiculous and fat in my life? My middle section is big, but definitely not that big! The blonde in the middle is my friend Cheryl who has stuck by me every single minute since this breast cancer crap started, put up with my slow bike rides, my nervous incoherent babbling, everything. And she won't even let me buy her a cup of coffee! I did manage to sneak in a Garth Brooks concert ticket for next week by telling her somebody "gave" them to my daughter at work.

Italy.. I think you look beautiful.. and so does your friend Cheryl..
PTS.. I need some of you Pennsy bacon to try.! Why is it different.?

Lucy, it just is super smoky! The Pa Dutch eat lots of pork and smoke all the parts, The take odds and ends and make what is called Scraple sort of a meat loaf type of thing, Totally and completely unhealthy although doubt that the old Amish use too much in the way of nitrates and such.
I think some of the little companies actually have web sites and sell it as that is how my sister ordered some one year. It gets dolled out so as not to kill anyone with fat!

Lucy, Hope you were able to fall asleep. I hate when I can't fall asleep knowing I have to get up early for something. Enjoy the lunch at your daughter's. I hope she makes some pecan maple bacon for you too. I think you should email the picture to her!! maybe she'll take the hint. haha
PTS, I want to hear all about the Pennsy bacon too. Can it be ordered and delivered to CA? My Dad used to LOVE scrapple. I was so grossed out by it when I was a kid. I wouldn't even try it. I did love ring bologna though.
Italy, Love the costumes! I agree with Lucy, you look beautiful!! I'm glad you have/had such a great friend that stood by you through treatment. You really do know who your real friends are once you go through something like the big C. I'm impressed by your sneaky gift giving!!
My DD is driving from the OC for the Halloween get together. I hope that my DS comes too. He has a friend visiting from Ohio, so I'm not sure if he will want to come trick or treating with the little ones. DD wasn't able to get out of her lease early, so she won't be moving here until next July.
Hope you all have a fun weekend.

Gaia, How about a bacon bouquet for your wedding???

Slow, there are many small butchers in the Lancaster area, the one my family buys from and ships is called S Clyde Weaver in East Petersburg and other places in Pennsy. The have a web site and do ship so enjoy! I suggest the nasty thick cut bacon as a great treat during the holidays but in no way responsible for your cholesterol!

Thanks PTS. I wrote down the info. Maybe I'll order some for our Christmas breakfast.

Momwriter, you got it - every little ache and itchy spot, it all drives you straight to Crazy Town! At least we have each other, and we all know what it's like. You're right there are a lot of different Crazy Town's out there, and I can't imagine what the Crazy Town must be like for parents battling their children's cancer.
Katy, the poori looks delicious!
Eggroll, I'm glad your oncologist's office is stepping up to coordinate your care. It really sounds like your surgeon's office is too overwhelmed to meet that role. I was a bit concerned before, but your description of the follow up - only can see the ARNP, doesn't have time to look at your lymphedema - that's not good. That's interesting that they had so much difficulty getting those nodes. Makes you wonder if that has some connection to your lymphedema.
Gaia, hope your soiree was fun and you had a nice afternoon with your friend. RI has got to be beautiful this time of year.
Italy, I totally know what you mean about the nervous incoherent babbling. I've got some good folks at work who have put up with mine, too. These people are gold.
Maple pecan bacon sounds like such a Southern-Canadian fusion thing...

Hi Crazies,
I'm hoping some of you can offer some encouragement to a lady I just came across on another thread. She just got a 2nd diagnosis of BC. I told her about you, Sula. I know the weekends tend to be really slow, but I'm hoping some of you can give her some support. Here is the thread:

I saw that one too, Slow. Those of you who have been down this road more than once, please give her a hand.

Slow - Poor thing - 3rd time. I posted.

Thanks so much MT. It's going to be a long Crazy Town weekend for her.

Good Morning Crazies!!
Happy Halloween to all!!
Sula, Thinking of you. Hope your infusion went well yesterday. Also hope your shingle like condition is better today!
I hope you all have a great weekend.
Much love to all - quiet crazies too.

God morning to all my Crazies. Just sending a hug to all, and checking in from a rainy Saturday, slowly putting things back in order after all the guests have gone. At least I have plenty of leftovers.
Hope everyone has a peaceful, happy weekend without too much Craziness.

just gave out the first of candy to a cute little group of 3 boys
wish that more would come so I could get rid of the temptation of candy, did not realize the bag of treats contain peanut butter cups~~~

Hi Crazies
Here's to a Happy & Spooky Halloween!
Hope everyone has a sweet and nourishing weekend.
Sula how are you feeling?
Katy enjoy organizing your place and the leftover food!
PTS bacon from Lancaster must be divine- I say that because that's where the produce from my CSA is grown and the quality is stellar! Are peanut butter cups a vice for you?
Ducky with all your grand kids you must be busy for Halloween
Slow a bacon bouquet hahaha My man would eat it before I got half way down the aisle. You again exhibit your kind caring by sharing the story of the person just diagnosed for the 2nd time. Did you mention she should join us here? And sorry you will have to wait a bit for DD to move closer to home. Hope you have a fun Halloween celebration.
Italy great pic and you look beautiful- STRONG!
Octo how are you?
I wish I took pictures of my girlfriends outfits yesterday; after our late afternoon nibbles we went back to the birthday 'girl's' apartment and there was a dress up party because they all went to a costume party. That party started at 10 pm, even at 20 I was not wired to go out late night, so I just had fun helping them dress up and came home and crawled into my PJ's and chilled out on the couch.
Who's making what this weekend? I'm making wild mushrooms over polenta for tonight and starting some short ribs to braise for game day tomorrow. Comfort food all the way.
lastly, I did get the go ahead to start the every 3 week cycle starting Monday. Think that's going to allow me to settle into executing some projects I've been dreaming up.
Ok crazies, enjoy the day. Thinking of you all.

not much on candy but PB cups are a real tempting thing for me!

Gaia, Just dropped by and saw your question. I'm making a favorite yeast bread with whole wheat, cooked wheat berries and chopped walnuts. Giving to neighbor who recently had a very severe heart issue. He's better, at home, thank goodness. Recipe makes 2 or 3 loaves, so we can have at least l loaf to pig out on. I love to bake, hate to cook, and there's just the 2 of us so not much incentive to putter in kitchen. Sigh
No tricks or treats here. We're in the mountains and homes are too far apart for practical trick or treating. Schools and churches have "trunk or treat" which sounds a safer way for little kids to get candy. In my mind it kinda spoils the old traditional fun. But I'm glad I don't have to buy bags of candy. Slow, I love the idea of fire pits along the street.
Stay safe everyone. If you indulge, make it dark chocolate with medicinal ingredients. J

Italy and Rain, Thanks so much for lending your support. You're both awesome!!
Katy, I love leftovers. My DH won't eat them.
PTS, I always buy the bag with the peanut butter cups. Those are my DDs favorites.
JAN, That's so kind of you to do that for your neighbor.
Gaia, I just invited her. Thanks for reminding me!! I'm glad you had fun with your girlfriends. I'm glad you were able to get on the three week cycle. You'll have so much more free time now.
Off to straighten my house for visitors.

Katy.. Left overs are my favourite. !! I actually think they taste better second time around.. Especially curries !!
Slow.. Hope you have such fun with your family and Halloween celebrations. It's not big here in Australia like it is over there..But over the last few years it is starting to catch on.. A lot of the shops here decorate now., and quite a few Halloween parties around about.. Sorry your DD move home has been postponed until July , but time will pass quickly... Especially with Christmas 🎄 stuck in the middle of it all.!
Gaia.. You sound like me.. Even when I was young I couldn't stay out partying all night either.. maybe because after a couple of drinks I feel delishishly sleepy and just want to fall into bed.!!
We went to my daughters yesterday.. Had a lovely day.. And my son and his family are coming here for moring tea today.. So I better get up out of bed.. I'm feeling guilty.. I can hear Hubby out in the kitchen cooking blue-berry muffins, and chocolate cake for them. He's a good boy really. 😃

JAN I like the way you think: 'dark chocolate with medicinal ingredients'

Iris - mmmm peanut butter cups. I heard on the radio that they are the most popular item. I bought myself one pack of two peanut butter cups, and told myself that that is it for me and Halloween candy this year. I'm not allowed to eat any more. Can't eat them all Halloween week like I did when I was a kid!
Gaia, that's good news about the 3 week cycle. I hope it works fine and you can continue that schedule.
JAN, that wheat bread sounds really good. I bet your neighbor will appreciate it.
Lucy, your husband bakes? He is a good one!
0 -
HaHa.. Here's a pic of him making the muffins. :-)

Cubbie, looks like I will be having a ton of leftover stuff! come on over and eat my PB Cups! and everything else too!
0 -
Lotsa extra candy at my house tonight, I think: raw windy and RAINY here. Didn't get quite so much candy this year as last, despite it being a non-school night, and only a small bag of the stuff my husband and I are likely to devour. No peanut butter cups, alas, nor any chocolate with medicinal ingredients for the adults.

Lucy, awesome, he looks like he's on a cooking show! "Now spoon your batter into the muffin pan..."
Iris, my MO would have a fit. He put right on my followup paperwork "exercise to lose weight".
Queenmomcat, that's how it looks here, too. Don't know if there will be too many kids out. Parents aren't going to want to go out in the rain, even if their kids want to.
