Magnificent quilt, Katy. All the furbabies here in CT are adorable (and apparently not too camera-shy). Jersey, hope that soon the only tingling you get will be from excitement, and that they can figure out whether to give you Tamox or an AI and you can move on to the next steps of treatment.

Katy: wonderful quilt.
SlowDeep: I think I've got some pictures of me, well smutzed, from previous gardening seasons. Would those do?
Welcome baskets all 'round for those who need them, never mind how long you've been here. It's all CrazyTown.

Katy, Love the quilt. Is it a disappearing 4 patch? Looks like something I did with a layer cake.

it's a disappearing 9 patch! Good call!

I love the quilt as well!
I am checking in just briefly after a fairly hellish day at work to end a very hellish week. Yes, TGIF! BIGTIME today! and yes, Mayor Slow, retirement is looking pretty darn appealing right now! Spent a fair amount of time last night fantasizing about how I was going to retire and then spend lots of time in SoCal enjoying the sun and hanging out with my grandkids, not to mention hanging with the Mayor, tomboy, Molly, and all the rest of you..when I wasn't making east coast swings to see my son and Rain and Gaia, and north coast swings to hang in Katy's garden...and then there are those of you in the midwest...I'd have lots of time for fun if I wasn't working!
Oh well, maybe some day soon.
In the meantime, my plans for this weekend include walking at our local wildlife refuge (which has thousands of migrating snow geese, Canadian geese and cranes taking a break right about now enjoying the rain and wetlands...) and trying to get my taxes done. argh to the taxes part. For tonight, I will try to catch up on all your posts, and relax a bit..see you on the weekend!
Hugs to all!

Tomorrow I am starting a new weight-control plan: the Furbaby Diet.
You see, when Bob & Gordy aren’t home to have a sit-down dinner, I often eat my meals sitting in my lounge chair in front of my TV. I have placed my orange tabby kitty Happy on caloric restriction, so he has become very paws-on and affectionate lately--and one of his favorite things to do is, when he sees me either eating or using my laptop instead of devoting my full attention to him, he climbs on to me and sprawls across my chest, with his neck in my face so that he cannot be ignored. So starting tomorrow, I will eat whatever I want--but the moment Happy decides we must cuddle and plops himself on to me, I will put my plate down. As good a method of portion control as any, no?

Good morning, crazies!
All the quilts--so beautiful, so cheering. I am in awe of those of you who quilt and do other hand crafts.
Mags, I can't believe you're posting so soon after surgery! How are you feeling today? Regarding the path report, I got mine from the BS at the follow-up visit ten days after surgery. They never did stage me properly because of the neoadjuvant chemo.
Beppy, how incredibly frustrating that the letter was so unclear or just plain inaccurate. In your pocket for the PET scan on the 18th.
Jersey, it must be very hard to watch your friend go through this. As for Herceptin, I do experience SEs that I can now, post taxol, attribute to it. But I think they're hitting you harder. PM me if you want to compare notes. I plan to discuss SEs when I see my MO in early April.
Robin, very sorry about your friend.
All of your cats and dogs are adorable. Here we have no pets. DS and I have big-time cat allergies, and I've just never felt it's fair to have a dog in a city apartment. DH and I have talked about getting one if we move outside the city some day.
And now we know, thanks to ChiSandy, that animals are an effective weight-control mechanism. Who knew?
Octo, sorry for your wretched time at work. I hope that if you retire, you can do so on your own terms. And then come visit the east coast!
Crazytown here for reasons unrelated to BC. We live in a brownstone that's divided into five co-op apartments. Well, there is a clog in the kitchen waste line somewhere below us, so everything is backing up into our kitchen sink. My immediate reaction was to get a plumber ASAP, but DH and the architect who lives in our building wanted to try some enzymatic version of Drano. It is supposed to take 3-5 days to work. I can definitely say that three days into the adventure, it's not working. If there's no improvement over the weekend, I'm calling the plumber first thing Monday morning. Men: experts on what should work. Women: people who call the plumber! I will say that DH washed a heap of dishes in the bathroom sink, so I'm grateful for that!
Sunshine and strength to all crazies!

Hi to you all! I feel like I have been in a holding pattern with this drain still in! It comes out next week no matter what PS said. That will be 4 weeks. Still putting out 20cc everyday. Not sure what The heck will happen.
Jack- sorry about your greenhouse! I love plants and flowers just ordered seeds and a new plant called Summer Jewel Lavendar Salvia. No deahheading and grows all season up till frost. Thanks for making me laugh about the poor little woodpecker!
Octo- I retired from Nursing after 20 years on the front lines. This last year kicked my ass. 5 surgeries and chemo. I am so glad about that decision. If you can?
Jersey- I'm sorry they are changing! I wish I could get a call that says I don't have to take it!
Welcome Chickadee.
My phone is dying-- forgot to plug it in lastnight.
Love to you all
Patty

Lucy- gorgeous quilt your friend made! I love it too! Great color and those fans in the corners of the border add so much oomph! And they don't look like they were easy.
Mommy- thanks for the morning hug.
Sandy I love your diet plan!
Rainny- OMG- didn't this just happen around Christmastime? Ugh. Hope it clears soon.
Mags- thinking of you. Hope you are resting up and healing.
Patty - I understand about the drains. It is very hard to even contemplate moving on while one is still in. Patience, grasshopper.
It's pouring wind and rain here. I must get to the market but I hate to go out in it. I think I'm going to have to....
Waving 🙋🙋🙋 to all, wishing as calm and joyous a weekend as possible. Even if it is only finding it in something very small. Missing our quiet friends as well.

Thismorning Ayden said to me "grandma pick me up!" I asked him why. "Because I love you" me sobbing. This is what makes life worth living.

Slow and all my new and old friends here - I will share this with you too: I miss Tigger so much, it was hard to let Dozer take one of Tigger's old toys but when I found him in the same position with the same toy, it was a precious, bittersweet moment. First stuffed animal he hasn't torn to shreds! First picture is Tigger - the one I lost before my reconstruction and Dozer is the second picture - we got him about 6 months after reconstruction just 13 months ago. I am thinking Tigger must of told Dozer not to mess up her toy.. I usually don't believe in things like that but this was way to unusual for Dozer. Either that or Tigger was telling me she is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge.

GMA..Beautiful.! I think it's a sign.. I'm.not sure of exactly what.. but a sign that's meant to bring you comfort !

I think its a sign GMA. I had that same thing with Princess when her older "brother" Charcoal passed. I swore he kept coming around for about a month to make sure that she was getting used to her new family when we got her.

Awww, GMa, that's so sweet

I'm sorry. This just made me crack up. Had to share.

ROTFL, Katie! (And if I were the chick's attorney, I'm pretty sure I could get that lineup ID tossed.....)
Our pets often stick around for awhile after their bodies have given up. An hour before our MishMosh suddenly died at not yet 8 y.o.(vet said cardiomyopathy) in 2007, he was happily knocking over the candlesticks on the dining room table as soon as we could set them back upright. For days after, we found the same candlesticks repeatedly knocked over every time we checked. Our other cat Matthew, who never got up on the table but used to chase him mercilessly, stood by the sofa where we'd found MishMosh's lifeless body and keened, looking back at us every so often in confusion. When Matt died last year (at 19+), Happy--who is terrified of cat carriers because they signal a trip to the vet--walked into Matt's carrier and snuggled into his blanket; Heidi, who'd been mostly Bob's little Daddy's Girl, decided to latch on to Gordy (for whom Matt had been his best fur-buddy since MishMosh's death).

I just love peeps.
"keening": such a true word. In a language which celebrates multiple words for the same thing or situation, I can think of no true adjective for this. Though sad, Sandy and Gma, your stories warm my heart. It's good to know they stick around and make sure everyone is ok. I often think when they are young, we take care of them. When they are old, (and we are too) they take care of us.

I swear my sweet Mikko visits me at night on occasion. She was my kitty through and through. Usually the animals are attracted to my DH. This one slept with me and always waited for me.

I sometimes have dreams where my dog from when I was a kid is still around. He's The Oldest Dog Ever in these dreams, just following me around in whatever I'm doing in the dream. Makes you wonder
This morning when I walked out to the garage I caught my shoe on the threshold and fell smack on the concrete. I skinned up my knee like one of the kids at school. Talk about a low point. I was lying there, thinking, seriously? How many times have I gone through that door over the years? I've been in Katy's rabbit hole ever since. You know how one more thing can just put you over the edge?

Evening hugs to all!

The pics are so sweet, Gma! I think they are both trying to show their love...
and Katy, your chick picture was too funny! I also laughed out loud!
Molly, that must have melted your heart! Aren't grandkids the best? I am starting to get sooo excited for my SoCal trip: in addition to the SoCal Crazies meetup, I will be attending my granddaughter's 8th birthday party. And possibly even squeezing in a trip to Disneyland on her actual birthday a week from Thursday! (it is spring break; which would make it a crazy time to go there...but then...)
Hubby and I had a great time at the wildlife refuge this morning: lots (hundreds) of ducks and shore birds in the wetlands...a few cranes and geese though that is definitely past peak (at peak there are tens of thousands of geese and cranes). But, the good news about being past peak is that we had the place to ourselves. Took a moderate walk and then went to brunch at my favorite place in town (they make outstanding huevos rancheros), and then I went with hubby to the garden store to get organic soil and some veggies and flowers. I don't like to garden (other than harvesting, which I love to do) but it is fun to sit outside at the edge of the garden and watch him plant. He just put in more herbs for my herb garden. We've already got three types of sage and rosemary; he added thyme, basil, lemon basil and flat leaf parsley. Tomatoes and peppers also went into the raised bed.
Rain is coming back tomorrow...
Hugs to all

Can't wait until I can plant my garden and flowers. Won't be until around Memorial Day for that to happen, but I still have time to plan for it.
