Wow all of these nature filled accounts and posts.... I can't wait till end of September when we take my 'belated 50th' birthday trip to Martha's Vineyard. It's one of my favorite places on the planet ( well, that I have visited so far).
Seems as though everyone is having an enjoyable weekend.
Welcome back Rain, you camping adventure sounded great.
Octo, I'm right there with you re 'starting treatment' Holding your hand virtually! That engagement party sounded like a great feast for all the senses.
Katy the quilt and all the new corridors for CT, is lovely!
Tom boy may I use boymanfriend as well?
I'm settling up some behind the scenes logistics for my out of town gig. Definitely feeling some anxiety around having enough energy etc...
For the rest of today there will be a supper with some friends including this braised ( well about to be) lamb shoulder. Served with smokey eggplant - (sula eggplant is one of my favorite summer 'fruits')
More later crazies!

Christine- that lamb looks so good! I was starting to dig into my new (used) Indian cookbooks and saw a lamb dish marinated in yoghurt. Yum!
I was thinking, somewhat randomly, this morning, about the red tent and big top associations we've made over time. Wondering if there was a subconscious connection there. Hmmmm.
The sleep mask is helping a bunch. I was up again last night for several hours, and I out it on when I finally felt I could sleep again. The darkness of the mask allowed me to sleep in a bit (my bedroom is very bright) so thanks for that.

Tomboy- I've also been thinking about that project you mentioned some time ago. I was going through some pics and found these before and after photos, taken within 6 months of each other.
It's weird cuz I know I told you I don't do hearts, but these earrings were given to me by a special friend.

Have had company for past few days. Sharing memories of my recently passed Mom and more of my Dad who passed in 1965. Pictures exchanged and scanned it was nice to not relive the past 6 months and recall a more simple and happy time...
Loving all the GIF's, celebrations, food, fawna and maps around Crazy Town tho I would have thought them to be more loopy.
Good to be back my Crazies.

rosesrx.. Glad you enjoyed your company.. I love going through old photos remembering " the good days ", where ( maybe in hindsight) life seemed so much easier and stress free.. It is lovely to be able to forget about BC for just a while.
Katy. You look beautiful..before and after.. Such a gentle, soft caring face.
Gaia.. Your lamb looks so delicious.. I love lamb..usually bake mine in a honey, garlic, mustard and chili marinade.. served with roast veggies.. Then the next night make lamb fritters with the left overs.
Hugs to all..

Lucy- Thank you. I'm really craving lamb now. Anything followed by the word "fritter" gets my full attention!

Just found this thread.... Katy, you are a beautiful woman!

Oh, lamb. Stopped by an Amish market the other day and found myself drawn to a boneless half leg. It's in my freezer for when the weather's a little cooler. Enjoy, Gaia!
Beautiful pix, Katy.
Rose, hope the memories were joyful.
Made summer rolls and cut up a jalapeño pepper from our fire escape garden. 2 hours and several washes later, my hands are still burning!
And happy labor day to all!

oh....I just wrote a whole post and my iPad ate it!!!!!!!!!!!! Arrgh!!!
0 -
Lynn- thanks!
Sula- I HATE when that happens! It's like, where did it go? Like that extra sock that disappears from the dryer. I actually lost s pillowcase yesterday! How TF?
0 -
oh Jack yes!!!!!!
I also lost a pillow case I have NO idea where it went... Also a down blanket that goes in one of the guest rooms it went missing when we bought the new house and poof... Gone!!
I had written all these messages to everyone, and now I'm just exhausted after writing all day for work and too tired to write it all over again. We started the new script today on Labor Day this is our first new project since all this cancer stuff started and I really like being back at work.
Your picture looks great I'm hunting around for something Tomboy..., but I always duck cameras as Inhate having my picture taken let alone without eyebrows!!!!

Speaking of missing things, I read a funny article years ago about missing socks. Where are the millions of missing socks? Is there a place in space they are sent to, a special garbage dump in the middle of a desert somewhere or......? ??? Just someting to dwell on instead of cancer! Love, Jean

Morning all!
Katy, your pillowcase is at my house. I was doing laundry yesterday and found one that I don't recognize. WTF did it come from? Perhaps someone wants you to visit me? I'd love to have you over (but don't do that until I am done with Tx if you value clean houses! :-))
Sula, good luck on the script! Sometimes work is what we need to keep in balance.
the lamb looks amazing. and lamb fritters do sound good.
Stay out of the crazy parts of town all...I can't promise I will do the same this week as I start CT chemo on Wednesday. Will keep you all posted. it's just a detour, right?
xoxox to all of my beautiful crazy ladies
Octogirl

Welcome to Crazytown, Jean! I want my pillowcase back. Not driving to the desert though. I might wait and visit Octo. Si Jean, pull up a chair and join us under the 🎪🎪🎪🎪🎪 for this 5 ring circus !!!
Octo- google "cleaning for a reason" it's a 501 c(3) that cleans houses for cancer patients. In my area it wasn't available but I know several who used, loved, and appreciated them!

Good Morning Dear Crazies!!
So much to catch up on!!
Hope you all had a good holiday. I've been a bit under the weather, but we still had my children, DD's boyfriend and my sister over on the weekend. My DD drives from Orange County, and the trafficis typically terrible on a holiday weekend, so we did our get-together on Sunday. My husband made beef burritos, Mexican rice, refried beans and a salad. For dessert he made a yellow cake with chocolate frosting . He is an excellent cook. My DD and DS cleaned up after dinner was over. Actually, my DD did all of the dishes while my DS cleaned the counters and kept her company.
Here is a picture of Murphy learning to sit and stay for his treat. Our other dog Jax is an excellent example to our young dog in training!! Baylee used to hate being inside, so Jax wanted to be outside with Baylee. Now that we have Murphy and he is an inside dog, Jax wants to be in the house. haha
Tomboy, I hope you had a wonderful birthday weekend!! Did you go out and do anything special, or just hang around the house and relax??? I agree with you!! We should celebrate ALL birthdays in Crazy Town. Google watches EVERYTHING. Same with FB. It really freaks me out sometimes. I love the hummingbird story. So thoughtful of you to make one for your mom!
Ducky, you were in my thoughts all weekend. I know how hard it must have been for you. Gentle hugs my friend.
PTS, hope you had a wonderful time with your nephews, and your back did well making the trip!!
Alyson, Thinking of you. Hope the RA is improving!!
Katy, your mask looks nice and comfy. I don't think I could wear a mask while sleeping. Being the neurotic person I am, I can't even wear a necklace around my neck for any length of time. Or anything tight around my neck or head region. It's no wonder I am the mayor of Crazy Town!! I love your before and after picture. Thank you for sharing it with us. You are a beautiful woman, inside and out!! Your poem to Tomboy was lovely! You're a woman with many talents. Your quilt is amazing and I will always think of it as the Crazy Town quilt. So glad you found Tutti!! Loved the video....such a pretty, fluffy cat!! The 3D quilt your mom did is awesome!! Now we know where you get your talent!!
Tresjol, Good to see you posting!! I'm sorry your bladder is giving you fits. Isn't night time the worst??? That's when I would typically visit Crazy Town....especially when I was in active treatment. This thread does move quickly!! Post when you can....it's always great to see you!! I hope you get the bladder problems under control.
mommato3, Welcome to our thread!! Did I welcome you here before??? My chemo brain is lagging. If not, great to see you here!!! Pull up a chair and get your crazy on!!!
Sula, Thanks for sharing your picture!! Another beautiful woman!! Your table looks so inviting!! One of these days I'm going to make my way up to NorCal. I used to go there often when my DD lived there. Not so much since I went through treatment. In fact, my DH and I rarely go anywhere these days. I need to remedy that!! I can't tell you how many posts I've lost here on BCO. Now I do my long posts in Word and just copy and paste.
gaia, My computer skills are compliments of Google. haha....I'm not that smart, just a good Googler. Your lamb dish looks fabulous. Aren't you starting Herceptin this week?? How is the Tamoxifen treating you so far?? Thinking of you and sending virtual hugs your way!!
Octo, you start chemo tomorrow? We will all be in your pocket cheering you on!!! I was so worked up about my first chemo. I thought once they put the needle in my arm, I would immediately start having SE's. haha.....Sending gentle hugs to you!! You will get through this, and we will all be with every step of the way!!
Rain, Welcome back!!The farm is gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing your pictures!! I love seeing vacation photos!! It sounds like you had a wonderfully, peaceful, relaxing trip!! My idea of camping was in a 30ft motor home!! haha Unfortunately, we sold our MH when I was diagnosed. I really miss getting away and hope to start camping again once I'm feeling better.
Rose, nice to see you back! How wonderful to share all those memories. I love talking about my parents and sharing memories. I agree....a simple and happy time.
Lucy, I've never heard of lamb fritters, but like Katy said, anything with the word fritter in it makes me take notice!! haha
Mysunshine, Welcome to this crazy thread!! Please pull up a chair and get comfy!! You've found a wonderful group of caring women. All very different and all equally amazing. I'm so happy you've joined us!!
Jean, Happy you found us!! Welcome to our crazy thread!! I got more chairs so there is plenty of room for all!! I hope you enjoy your time with the crazies!! Totally agree about the socks!!
To those I didn't mention directly..... Italychick, Tang, Susan, Poppy, dsgirl, sewingnut, rleepac, M0mmy, kathy, Beatmom, queen, 2TA, JAN, Amy, Nancy, pennsygal, littleblueflowers, Booklady, Suzy, Huro, clarrn, ErenTo, Colleen, Sapphire, MinusTwo, ells, staynsane, chloesmom, Wendy3, koshka, Luvmygoats........hope you all had a wonderful, pain free weekend. I sure hope I didn't miss anyone....you are ALL a very important part of Crazy Town!! You are ALL loved and appreciated!!
Happy Tuesday to all!! ツ
Edited to add Elimar. I know she has her own thread, but I didn't want to leave her out!! You are loved and appreciated too!!

I came to the conclusion......nothing I can do will change what is.......unless I hit the lottery, and then I can just wait forever for the house to sell............but considering I don't play more then once a month...........that isn't going to happen........
Sooooooooo......I decided to not worry about it....since I can't change the outcome....I will just have to take whatever comes............and not worry................'hugs ladies.0 -
Good conclusion Ducky. It is much easier on your heart. If I hit the lotto before the house sells, I will buy it!! haha....it can be our Crazy Town vacation hideout!!! Love you!!

Yo Crazies...
I'm at the salon finally returning to my regular color after 10 mos!!
There are so many posts so much to comment on...and I'm scared of my iphone eating this post.
Slow,
I love the dogs!! So attentive and it's so funny how they immediately firm a little dog family... Sort of like all of us and cancer. I love Mexican food next best to Indian and the stuff your husband cooked sounds relish...oops color starting...

Beppy- loved both the dogs at attention and the explanation of my pillow case just on a field trip and will come back maybe. It was a brand new set too, was washing before I put fresh on the guest bed.
I am starting an 8 week hospice class today, for a couple of reasons. You can guess the first, but I also wanted to be able to expand Jack's therapy visits to include individual hospice patients in their homes. I'm excited and a little nervous. I tried once before but it was too soon after my younger brother had passed and I was too triggered to continue. I think with Jack as my partner we will make it together!
Sula- I'm so glad you are starting a new project. That can be so distracting in a very positive way. And open up your world again. And a new "do" to boot!
Hope all of my Crazies are doing well. I am always reading and following, and thinking of you all. All the time.
Katy

jack,
Our house keeper showed up with a "replacement" pillow case for the missing one I don't know where the hell it came from. I do all our personal laundry.. Shirts socks unders so if any of that stuff goes missing it's on me... But I hate when big stuff vanishes,
Good luck with jack. I'm sure he'll do great. My bro in law has another dog he got so I guess he'll turn that into a therapy dog too. The older dog goes to hospitals and in the evening clubbing with him... He also takes it into judges chambers so I dunno what's going on back in those Des Moines courtrooms
Here's a pic of my kitchen with me fiddling around doing God knows what.. This was taken during chemo in Winter so I'm in pjs and slippers

happy birthday Tomboy!
I missed the day, but not the sentiment
Hey I am twenty plus twenty four, we are close!

Jackie Birdies
the no hair look makes you look younger!
When your hair grows back, you should wear it pulled back or short - you have a great face!
0 -
why thank you Kathy- it might have been the steroids momentarily making me look younger. Haha. I have enjoyed the super short and am toying with that idea

Sula- what a FAB kitchen! I have been reading my new old cookbooks and stocking the spice cabinet.
Thinking to invite my RE agent and dh for a meal. They have never tried Indian food! They are vegetarian and. Wheat and sugar free. I was thinking a dal, cauliflower and potatoes and brown rice with peas Can this be considered nutritionally complete? Any suggestions? Green beans???
0 -
Jack.,
Yes a rice and dal combo dish can be good especially for those who don't eat meat . My general rule is one. "Wet" veg, one. "Dry" veg something crunchy, something soft
0 -
Great rule of thumb. Will stick to that

Beppy, what a beautiful picture of the dogs! Sorry you sold your MH, but I hope you get some getaways soon. Your DH's meal made my mouth water!
Ducky: Hugs. That is all.
Sula, your kitchen is amazing. Glad you've started a new project. After I went on vacation, I remembered something I'd wanted to post in honor of your Brooklyn project:
The school is not where my DS went (he's in HS now), but it's in a neighborhood not far from ours. I love the looks on the kids' faces! Update: I know now that the link doesn't post here, but Beppy kindly made it live on the next page.
And my question, which some of you may have seen on the exercise thread: I've been doing neoadjuvant chemo and am scheduled for a bmx Sept. 22. (I made them hold off until after school started.) For those who've been through this lovely surgery, how long did it take you to be back to feeling good? Or at least decent? I've had some time to get used to the idea but am not looking forward to it! BS says no recon until after rads. Sigh. Bleh. And yes, I'm haunting the September surgery thread, the various recon threads, the bras and prostheses threads....
Many thanks, and happy almost fall!
