littleblueflowers, This is a no apology zone. We will all be in your pocket on Monday. It's good the surgeon is giving you a 95% sure it isn't cancer percentage. Try your best to concentrate on that very high percentage. I can certainly understand your need to know for sure. I used to play the BCO games when I was waiting on test results or in active treatment. I found it to be an excellent distraction. I think I pretty much played every game thread that was available. When doing so, I met some great people.

Poppy, So far they had me drive to Corona to see an Endocrinologist. She spent about half a second with me and said she's ordering an US. They also ordered blood tests which I have yet to do. I will most likely go in tomorrow. I just went back and read the email the MO sent to me. I don't know why, but I thought it was on my left side (cancer side). I guess I was wrong, it's on the right side. Looks like I now have right sided cancer too. CT scan said right thyroid 6 mm hypodense nodule, nonspecific. I was told if the size on the US is determined to match the CT scan, they will keep an eye on it. If it's larger, they will do a biopsy. I'm hoping neither one of us will need one of those. If so, I think we should try and get a two for one deal!! Sale on thyroid biopsies!!! I personally think they should do mobile biopsies.

Pink angers me more each year. I wouldn't mind supporting a pink product if there was full disclosure, and we knew exactly where the money was going. Then we would have an informed choice. Same with non profits. Until we demand full disclosure, I don't see anything changing. I've never been a pink person.

Octo, Gabe is so cute!! He looks very cuddly and I'm sure he will serve you well. I think I may have bear envy! haha

JAN, I appoint you the The Crazy Town Lurker!!! That sounds really ominous.

Thanks Lucy. I'm afraid I'm a sentimental old fool. When I get a chance, I'll take and post a picture of sick bear. He looks young for his age. He's held up well!!

    Italychick, Ooh, olives.....hahahahahahahahaha!!

Tomboy, Thinking of you my friend. ツ!!

I gave away about 30 pounds of tomatoes today from my garden. Visited my brother who is developmentally disabled and has psychosis and he appeared to be taking his meds. During my one hour their he had visits from two women! Oh my! I'm so far behind on work, I've been so distracted these past few weeks and now I'm in this celebratory mode, and I still don't want to work! Well before I get back to it, a funny story from a few weeks ago, while I was still waiting for my diagnosis and overwrought... I looked in the mirror and saw a red line going from the base of my lower breast to the nipple. I was convinced that it was my biopsy must have gotten infected, I started thinking how close it was to my heart, and then the panic took over, I ran downstairs and asked my poor sister to please look at it. She quickly saw it was an imprint from the seam of my bra. Bwah ha ha ha!

Rainny- so beautifully put. I think sometimes getting close to something so important and so frightening brings on an unusual clarity. I think you have been both brilliantly funny and seriously brilliant today. Holding your hand as you walk down the tunnel.

And Beppy, dang it all! You don't need more chit! I loved your story about the bear too.

Good night my Crazies. Thank you all for being here and being who you are.

And thanks Beppy again, for waving your magic wand and making Crazytiwn real. Well it was always real. You made it legit.

just checking in. Have been lurking all week. Didn't have anything to share. Had some body work called ScarWork the other day. My BMX scar was pulling inward down into my lung. Treating one spot helped the whole chest posture. Hugs o you all

morning all, did you hear my smoke detector go off this morning? hate those things as it takes me so long to figure out how to stop the thing. I knew it was from me running the oven cleaner thing so it did not require evacuation. Now have the detector sort of hanging from the ceiling. sigh, the only time I wish I was married is when junk like this happens but my luck is I would have ended up with a non mechanical sort of guy any way

Italychick, I am drooling for that dinner and if it was a week day I would venture to the store for the needed items but I am scared of the big stores on a Sat, too busy

Never hear of ScarWork but as long as it helps and does not hurt you, dang but good

Hi all...things looking better this morning! My skin had become so sensitive to everything from the suture issues that part of my breast was turning pinkish. Not good. You can imagine where that sent me in CT. Everything looks and feels much better this am. Maybe spaghetti and meatballs is the new magic cure-all, although ItalyChick I can promise that it wasn't what you described! (I want what she's having :-))

Going to try and have a good weekend, hope you all do too!

skipping the gym today and doing a veggie thing, a tad bit of cleaning but currently afraid of the smoke thing~~

octogirl lol, When Harry Met Sally reference there?

After I posted I then though about the antipasto platters full of salami, cheese, artichoke hearts, etc. if there is one thing, Italians know how to eat!

And a snack of choice in Sicily, dried garbanzo beans with an ice cold Italian beer. Sounds weird, but dried garbanzo beans are delicious.

And then there is France, wonderful cheeses, cafe au lait, crunchy baguette with butter.

I really need to go back to France and Italy, my two favorite travel countries. And Sicily. I know it's a part of Italy, but I always view it as its own separate country.

And aah, Tuscany! Would be so beautiful in October

I know that the Indians cook them first then roast them but roast garbanzos can be made very quickly from canned garbanzos

Hi Crazies- all's quiet on the crazy front today- GOOD SIGN that hopefully all are enjoying a spectacular Saturday. I'm only dropping in 'cause I'm waiting on a visit from my brother and his family; they are late. Get a family theme? Not me, I'm mostly always early. Abhor being late. Backlash from my growing up probably.

Anyway just received a sweet email from my Aunt Joann, my dad's elder sister. Almost 80, hasn't been to a dr in over 50 years. Still working. A total loon and a true green witch. Anyway she starts off with how she just hung sheet on the line and described the smell. Sent me back to a 2 week work/pleasure trip I randomly scored right after I left my lousy ex in 2012. Edited to say: Ok he wasn't /isn't lousy; just not a good partner for me.

It was May/June in Corsica. totally magic. and one of the sweetest pleasures was hanging my shirts to dry in the sun

    feels like a lifetime ago

This is what they name as langoustine there

Gaia.. That's a mighty fine looking lobster there.. HaHa.. You may well be an " early " person because of your upbringing..My father was always an early bird. We were 20 minutes early to whatever we went too.. whether it be doctor. dentist, or a party. Dad left home in plenty of time... just in case we had a flat tyre on the way. !! My reaction to this has been to (unintentionally) run 5 minutes late for everything.!!

Ducky.. Your dinner sounds delicious . I can almost smell it :-)

PTS.. Ugh.. Fire detectors can be so annoying ... A very necessary evil I guess!!

Christine- beautiful. That is a great smell, clothes drying on the line. Almost think I'm getting it, via aroma-gram (thought that sounded better than smell-o)

Took the pruning hedges to a bunch of trees and hedges today. Was able to reach up and flex the pecs. This is a relatively new ability, without causing pain. Unfortunately it got too hot to clean up after myself. It kind of looks like a storm blew threw my yard. I guess it was tropical storm Katy

I think I need a hug today. Mommy?

Have been having major weirdness with my BFF since dx. It got temporarily fixed for 5 minutes when I started chemo. Now six months later she's back to dodging me, not returning calls, not being present, not telling me why when I confront directly. Which if I don't do that I explode anyway. Feeling hurt and angry and wondering how much effort and for how long to keep trying when if it was a guy doing this he would have been jettisoned a long time ago

So sad, so mad. Feel like I need to parcel my energy and time more efficiently than ever and this feels like game playing.

It really is just so simple. Or is it?

You guys are taking the food porn to new heights. Wanna go back to Italy now! Or anyplace where they have lobsters. Or fried chick peas (actually, a restaurant about 3 blocks away from me has them, but I can't afford to eat there as often as I'd like, which is about twice a day). Or Ducky's house when she's cooking fish.

I think sweet Gabe should be the official comfort object of Crazytown!

Katy, thanks as always for saying just the right thing yesterday! Re your BFF, I've been surprised by friends since dx, both the ones who've unexpectedly been there in major ways, and the ones who, unexpectedly, have not. But when it's the latter, it's hard and hurtful. My vote would be to leave her aside for now and see if she recovers her manners?

Lucy, re being early, me, too. I can remember being thoroughly chewed out by my normally pleasant mother as a teen when I was 5 minutes late for something. In those days of no cell phones, not showing up on time was pretty worrisome. (As opposed to now?)

Proud, we get kohlrabi once in a while through our CSA. I have found it tastes best roasted (after being peeled and cut up) or in cole slaw, but it's a nuisance to peel. Actually, I think it works best as a toddler toy. I once watched a friend give it to her 12-month-old, and he had a blast with all those little spiky things.

    Anyway....

I am now posting the first official Crazytown poll. Since every single one of you seems to be food-obsessive, I would like to know: What is your favorite cookbook?

I'll start: I spent my youth in the land of the Silver Palate and James Beard. Then I discovered Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything, which completely changed how I approached food. Bernard Clayton's Book of Bread. Claudia Roden's Mediterranean Cookery.

    And you, my dears?

hard to take after 30 years and all we've meant to each other.

    I always loved

The Joy of Cooking (my first)

Mastering the Art of French Cooking (both volumes, at least as much for Julia Childs' narrative as the recipes

Larousse Gastronomique- a very useful reference and doorstop. But most of all impresses the hell out of people who come over.

Edited to add: based on knowing Rainny, now looking for Bittman

Rainny: I have to pick one? Probably Joy of Cooking but then I'd have to pick an edition. Maryana Vollstedt's got several I like America's Test Kitchen, same. Mark Bittman, same. Beyond that, we start getting into specialized cookbooks.
