Italychick, thanks for the quick answer: I will keep an eye out for mold, and yes, we do have Costco in my town, so good to know, thanks! Duh, a spoon would make sense.

wow on all the uses for coconut oil, I have a jar that I bought at the supermarket and use it in cooking, I think it has a higher smoking point which in my kitchen is helpful~~~

oh well, lovely although cool day so if someone is looking for me, likely I will be on the back deck with a cuppa coffee, I need to rest up after my gym time

I must say all the stretches the PT guy gave me to do at home, dang but back felt real good this morning, course I lost the stretching strap he gave me, I knew it had to be in my bedroom.....found it and you would think a bright red thing would not get lost?

Christine- the view is lovely. It must be heaven after the City to look out and see NEP ( no evidence of people) haha- thought I'd get some mileage out of old NED this morning, haha. Laugh's on you this morning, bc! The tenderloin was awesome, but not colorful enough for a picture. All the little jpegs would have run away under their own steam in shame after Sula's last piece of art. (I'm imagining a modern digital version of all the "peggies" going wee wee wee all the way home... Hah!) Then I got up at midnight and made a pulled pork burrito from the leftovers.

I also consumed, by myself alone, an entire bottle of red wine last night. (A nice blend called Ménage a Trois- "something nice- not too expensive", ((Monty Python))) and for dessert happened to have some pumpkin shaped and filled petit fours. (Not homemade- Dragonfly Bakery-Sula do you know it?) I am literally taunting the "bitch" with sugar and alchohol and not enough exercise. But I have to live.We played scrabble and dominoes, and took a tour around the garden. My neice didn't know of my recent fall down the rabbit hole thus I acted "as if". I think it all helped. We shall see how today goes.

Octo- glad you got the needed sleep. By whatever means available. And not having to shave your legs for a long time is a nice SE.

Iris- so happy, and knocking wood that you continue to feel relief from the crazy making back pain.

Mommy- I usually need a ((( hug ))) every day. Can I just put a standing order in?

Tutti was out stalking again. I thought you'd enjoy her at nearly full stretch.

Katy, well if you need a daily hug.....consider it done!

was just talking to a gym pal, we all go to the gym to talk and exercise our jaw muscles, the best way to stave off wrinkles and well, keep the brain happy as well

got a PCD apt tomorrow, she had given me a bunch of scripts last time for serious pain meds so think the reason for the appts is to make sure I have not gotten addicted ,,wait till she hears I have not taken the pain meds since the first week, much happier doing the PT and I keep it up out of fear that it will return!

Geez, I go away for a few hours and all a sudden you've worked out so many details: use of THC, coconut oil in the cafe.... Is coconut oil a thing for BC? I see it mentioned here and there, but I've never really put it together that this is something people use a lot for SEs of BC treatment. Am I like the densest person ever?

Gaia, love your deck in MV. Katy, hugs always.

Last night I decided to give it a go without the narcotic (vicodin). Guess what? I found out that extra strength Tylenol is perfectly fine for my pain needs at this moment. And I also found out that my body had come to expect and cherish the narcotic for its sleep needs. Hence the fact I was playing solitaire at 3:00 AM. Hence the 2 naps thus far today. And the general stupidity.

On the bright side, last night a friend brought rotisserie chicken, rice, and beans for DS's and my supper. We gobbled it up (salt, fat, what could be bad?). This morning, another friend brought two kinds of muffins (blueberry and bran) as well as croissants and some flowers. Tonight someone else is bringing another supper. This continues through Wednesday. Pretty great, I have to say. I feel cherished. And chubby.

rainnynyc I very rarely have trouble sleeping, but when I do, Advil PM works amazing for me. I'm sure Tylenol PM would work the same way.

    Worth a try....

Rainny- I'm surprised Italychick didn't take the bait on that one. She has a book coming out on the Crazytown Press called 1001 ways to use coconut oil for bc patients. (And normal people, with a special chapter on anal waxing)

She taught me well and it is everywhere within reach in my house, used for many many things. It really should be part of Slow's orientation/survival kit, along with the flashlight and high magnification glass for searching for hair. Both the wanted kind, that isn't there, and the unwanted kind, that is.

Hey SDB- can you add coconut oil to the survival kit????

Listen Katy, you are a love able butt! Haha! I love using it as a hair gel, makes my hair shiny, glossy, and it stays in place. And seriously, it is dirt cheap compared to hair products, and no bad chemicals. Just go slow, only a tiny amount is needed for the head.

Haven't tried it to tame my butt or face hair, though

do you all think coconut oil would work as shaving lotion on my face?? Chemo fuzz has got to go!!!!

interesting on the coconut oil for the hair, I think that is what the Indian women at my gym use to tame their hair and it always looks great to me~!

may need to try as chlorine from swimming makes my hair uckie and I have to really up the conditioner and often use a special chlorine removal shampoo

tomatoes simmering for sauce so better check the pot~~

well actually, my husband does use coconut oil to shave his face. He puts it on, lets it soak in, and then lathers up with an organic face shaving soap.

I will add it to the list lol. But seriously, be careful. Coconut oil on my face doesn't work, breaks me out, hello acne! But it doesn't do it to him. Guess my beard isn't manly enough.

    Love it Jackbirdie!

Am going to dig out coconut oil- my legs have some eczema- on and off itching-- and I think it's from my dried out body with tamox and meno. (I really itched a ton on Herceptin a lot- think my skin doesn't like all this).

In western Mass here we have awesome apple crop- so I have 2 pies in the oven- add that to the menu-- some of those dinners sound delicious--

gaia- enjoy MV-- nothing as healing to the soul as an island in the ocean-- -beach, air, salt water--

yes indeed. Adding Momwriter Apple pie (patent pending) to the menu. Are these double crust pies or single "Dutch" apple pies? You know the ones with all the butter and brown sugar all over the top? Could we have both?

How about Momwriter apple pie, 1CT$, with a scoop of home-made vanilla ice cream? No charge for ice cream. Ice cream, I believe, has been established as free within the city limits. As it was explained to me, this is because it is technically a medicine, and the Crazytown insurance plan (where everything is covered and there are no deductibles, copays, or lifetime limits) is happy to have us have as much ice cream as we want. Who's on the ice cream? I admit. I do have a small ice cream maker and Madagascar vanilla bean pods and home-made vanilla in hand.

And Crazytown Superwritermom pie with Crazytown crunch and ice cream on top?

Why not have both kinds of apple "pie"? (Planning a two-crust apple pie tonight--local McIntosh apples. And perhaps a scoop of Dulce de Leche ice cream. Or whipped cream. Or both.)

I vote both. However the whipping cream is not covered under the insurance policy. Considered a recreational drug.

(pouts) Not even the kind made from real cream, and whipped by hand? Come, come, now: wouldn't this be a good duty for all those drudges we've enlisted for our diner kitchen?

I am definitely in Crazy Town tonight and need some help backing off the ledge. I was diagnosed in June with IDC and had my lumpectomy followed by radiation on 6/26/15. Tumor was 1.2cm with no node involvement. I went to see my MO after radiation was completed to get my prescription for Arimidex. I mentioned to him how stressed I have been because I keep feeling that something has been missed since I was having a lot of strange pain even before I found my lump. In order to ease my mind, he ordered blood work, chest X-ray, & bone scan. He also told me that he would e-mail me through My Chart when he got the results. Well that didn't happen as I had to wait on the blood work to be posted for 4 days! I was a wreck as I really have a hard time calling the office to get the results. I still think that "no news is good news" theory works. Next , I had my chest X-ray on a Tuesday thinking I would get an e-mail from my MO by Thursday telling me that it was fine. I heard nothing and was just too afraid to call for the results. Fast forward a week and I'm getting ready to go for the bone scan and I finally get the nerve to call about the chest X-ray as I just can't go into the bone scan not knowing about the chest X-ray. The nurse says everything is fine on the X-ray and I am relieved. I ask her how long before the results are in about the bone scan and she says a day or so. So I have my bone scan on Thursday and I was scared to death all day on Friday just waiting for the call. As I was at the light in front of my subdivision on my way home from work, the phone rings and it's the Dr's office calling. The nurse tells me that she has the results from my bone scan and that it showed an abnormal uptake between the T8 & T9 on my spine and that I have to have an MRI on October 8. It also showed an abnormal uptake on a rib but stated that it was due to trauma . I did crack a few ribs on that side about 6 months ago. I also have ostepenia due to being thrown into menapause at 46 because of endometrial cancer. Now I'm really scared what the MRI may show. I'm hoping that it's some type of degenerative condition or a previous injury because before this all happened , we had just moved from VA to NC and I way overdid it with lifting etc. Please help as I think I'm driving my husband and grown daughters crazy with my worries and , of course, worrying them! Thanks

{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}} to you Maggie. We all process news differently. Ask for a nurse navigator to let the MO and office know the portal coming isn't working in a timely manner. The stress of the move is probably affecting every one in the family.
