    Jack,

I love the idea of tomato porn!!!!!

    image

    Proud,

you asked for ice cream....Dark chocolate truffle olive oil ice cream with sea salt

    image

Also..any other food requests.....I got it.

    Tom,

so glad you're back here and sorry you had to make that loop to deep in the heart of crazy town...wow, that's almost a song. They do treat us differently, and I remember having this swelling on the back of my head also and next thing I knew I was in the MRI machine at Cedars Sinai...turned out that was the shape of my head...sending you all good juju and mojo and everything else. Get some rest, you need it.

Poppy and Mommy, I'm due for that colonoscopy too..was about to make an appointment, but breast cancer.

anyway..here was our Indian lunch treat today...bengali cabbage, potato, tomato and peas..all vegan

    image

    later guys...still working

Oh my Sula. The food! I want that lunch now!

Iris- I make my own ice cream at home. I usually make the easy vanilla kind, Philadelphia style, without making a custard first. I think my recipe has four ingredients and one of those is a fresh vanilla bean. I got a cheap ice cream maker (Cuisinart, about $60) and it makes ice cream to die for. Completely different and better texture and flavor. Really easy. I bought a book called The Perfect Scoop (David Lebowitz) and the background writing on all kinds of ice cream is great. He's a great food writer and I have several of his books. Just for the stories.

Ducky- Linvilla is great. I've been there when I lived in the area, and my brother and fam used to get their pumpkin there every year and go on a hayride when their boys were young.

Sula- just want to comment again on how artfully you present your food. And the photography is so thoughtful. It's almost as good as eating. Your posts nourish my imagination and my soul.

Sula, that ice cream sounds amazing, I so rarely eat ice cream that it is a special treat! I need a treat right now!

Ducky, that little guy on the pumpkins looks adorable like all your family pics

rethinking my plans for back, may call to talk to doc about the shots, think I am ready for that now

floaters and sinkers: just what it sounds like. Floaters are light and fluffy and float on top when you drop them in the soup. Sinkers sink. See http://www.epicurious.com/archive/holidays/passove...

So, I am a Jewish Mother.....so there is no WAY I am gong to reveal my secrets, but I do both. Personally, I like sinkers. I think they have more flavor and oomph. But I get that some people like the airy, fluffy, floaty thing. I actually make them in a separate chicken stock and give my guests the choice. But then I am a crazy person who has been known to host Passover for thirty.....(although in my house, matzoh ball soup is certainly not limited to the Sedar...)

    Hugs

and yes on the ice cream, PTS. ALWAYS.

oh come on, Octo, we won't tell.

But definitely need to put Octo's Antibiotic Sinkers on the cafe menu! Yum!

Btw, Octo, I found a nice oear upside-down cake recipe from your last link. Is that what you were pointing to?

no...and I am not that fond of pears. It was an article on sinkers vs floaters. Just Google and you can find many. But that one in Epicurious even mentioned a few secrets.....maybe even one or two of mine....nope, not telling. You all will just have to come join me. Next year, at Octo's house.

Octo-note to self on the pears.

I didn't get to an article about floaters vs sinkers

So I googled it, as you suggested.

Seems there are multiple meanings for floaters and sinkers...trying to spoil my dinner?

    BAAAAAHAHAHA

Geez, this has got to be the busiest thread on the board, at least half the time!

Tomboy, there is no such thing as too crazy for Crazytown.

Queen, hope the erysipolis goes away quickly. Gotta say, it sounds like a minor character in the Iliad! You know, the kind who is impaled on a dusty Trojan plain.

So lemme get this straight, medicare pays for a limited amount of PT visits but as many shots as you like?

    Oh, the food porn!

Octo, as one Jewish mother to another, I will happily help out with the seder. But my personal vote goes to sinkers.

Katy, there are no matzoh balls in the ravioli of hoboken. But plenty of food porn to keep you busy.

Saw the BS today, and he pronounced my drain site infection completely normal and nothing to worry about (easy for him to say!). Anyway, I'm the proud possessor of a week's worth of antibiotics. So I guess it's yogurt lunches for the next little while to build those gut bacteria back up. DH suggested sauerkraut. Dunno if I'd necessarily combine the two in one meal, however.

Came home to find someone had knocked the top off a hydrant, meaning water to the entire block was off for several hours.

Tired and achy tonight, but at least we have our water back. Toilets flush, showers can be had, and the dishwasher can be run. Whew.

    Good Evening Crazies!!

Katy, Our family called it sauce and not gravy. My grandparents were from a small town right outside of Rome. Those tomatoes look so yummy. I'm impressed with how nice all your veggies look. Loving the new counters as your backdrop!! They look so fresh and clean.

I did the LGFB class and really loved it. I learned a lot about cross contamination while applying makeup. I was going through chemo at the time.I was so uneducated about everything breast cancer related. I had no idea there were bad chemicals in the make-up. Honestly, that was the furthest thing from my mind. I was just so grateful to have the makeover, as I'm sure most women are. Two years later, my opinion has changed. I don't recall them issuing any kind of statement about checking with your doctor, or anything close to that. There was also no disclosure about possible chemicals. Maybe that is a recent thing due to all the controversy?? In any case, you'd think ACS would know better.

Octo, Now that you mention it, that picture does look like a grown up Gabe!! No apologies necessary in Crazy Town. You will get your energy back when the time is right. Your beef craving reminded me of that old commercial - where's the beef??? I love matzah ball soup!!! I'm a floater gal. PARTAY at OCTO's house!!! Oh man.....keep fighting that fever cancer. Aggressive little sucker!!

Poppy, Good grief! It's no wonder you feel like that. I does seem like it's never ending!! Let us know when you're having the colonoscopy. We will have a pocket party for you. Actually, maybe we will stay right outside the door. haha

Sula, You think the cape is congested???? I'm not very creative!! haha I'm thinking the person that is in charge of controls needs to be able to multi task. Definitely not a job for me. I'm lucky if I can walk and chew gum at the same time. The lunch looks amazing. I count on M0mmy for my daily hug, I count on your for my daily drool!!

    Hi M0mmy!! You're awesome!!

momwriter, Great idea about the MJ through the tubes!! My MO prescribed Marinol for me when I was going through chemo. It was supposed to stimulate my appetite. hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!! Clearly I didn't need Marinol for that. I never even used it.

Tomboy, There is no such thing as too crazy for Crazy Town!!! hahaha.....Remember....this is OUR place to let it all hang out with NO judgements. This way we don't drive the men and families insane. Let it all out my friend. We are all here to catch you.

Queen, I don't know what erysipelas is, but it doesn't sound too good. I hope you're able to get rid of it soon. I'm too lazy to look it up, but I'll assume it's some kind of skin infection after rads. That sucks. We will all pool our good thoughts your way!!!!

PTS, That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!!! You get more visits if you life in a different state???? Totally unbelievable. Nothing like healthcare non-sense to get my blood boiling. Wine therapy!! hahahahahahahaha.....LOVE it!! I bet we can fit a wine bottle in one of those tubes!!! Here is your ice cream. Ask and you shall receive!!

    image

What is this talk about sinkers and floaters???? I'm not even going to say what that sounds like. Oh wait!! I guess I did say it without ACTUALLY saying it!! hahahaha

Tang, Sorry you're back in Crazy Town. The actual Town, not the thread!! Sending best wishes for good blood results. Let us know when you're having the test, because I really do believe we have magic powers here when we pool all of our thoughts together!!

Ducky, I just want to kiss that little doll babies cheeks!! Too cute for words!!!

Rain, Great news on the lack of infection!! YAY!!!!

Took my DH to the dentist today. It took all day because we live in one hour land. Actually it took closer to 1-1/2 hours to get home. I'm happy to report he is cavity free and his pearly whites are nice and shiny!! This thread is CrAzY busy!! Love you all!!!

BEP- all this talk of floaters and sinkers reminded me of our dear Gilda. (Emily Litella, concerned citizen)

What's all this I've been hearing about violins on tv? Why, I think there should be more violins on tv!

What's all this I've been hearing about presidential erections?

What's all this I've been hearing about endangered feces?

Now, Gilda, you've hit the nail on the head. Especially during chemo. Hahaha just thinking about her makes me laugh.

What I wouldn't give to have her on my deck with a glass of wine one afternoon. Or perhaps the mayor could summon her out of the shadows for tea on the Mayor's Mansion's porch. Do we have a resident medium?

Shout outs to PTS (my brother's initials, which is why I usually call you Iris)

She suggested wine therapy so I decided to have a nice little event for myself

    image

It's no match for Sula's cooking (and it's not a competition) but I wanted to share my wild caught salmon with some veg and herbs (tarragon and cherry tomatoes) from the garden, and imported* veg with a nice Oregon Pinot Gris. yum.thanks for the inspiration Iris and Sula!

SDB- loved Dancing With Guitars, btw. Actually, though not quite so alliterally appealing, being alone here, I guess I'd rather have a bass. Around 5' 10" would be perfect.

Great: Cubbies (my team for playoffs till they choke) and hubby's team (Pirates) are in a bench clearing brawl. And here I thought baseball would relax me.

    Octogirl

(In case anyone is wondering: Cubbies because they deserve it finally. And because Gabe told me I should. Hubby understands :-)..he is really a Giants fan, but the hometown rules for now...)

Hi Ladies... Ive been busy with the Grand-babies staying for the last week.. and am so far out of the loop here that I just have to start a fresh.. HaHa.. You've all been so busy there's no chance of me catching up on everything!!!! :-)

Ive been on my way to CT for the last couple of days..But not because of me ( for once.!! ) I noticed that Hubby has had a split in his bottom lip for the last week.. So dragged him by ear to the doctor 2 days ago.. She said she's pretty sure it's an SCC and he has an appointment with the specialist next Wednesday.. Ugh.. It never ends.. Like one saga ends another begins.. 😞

    Ducky.. Gorgeous, gorgeous photo.!!!

    HI to everyone else. :-)

    Jackie,

Our minds run in the same direction.. Floaters I thought????? I didn't grow up with Matzo balls so......that wild caught salmon looks terrific, especially with the fingerlings and all the trimmings.

My husband takes all the photos, and the ice cream was a project we did for California Olive Ranch Olive Oil. He's really an incredible photographer... And he gets to eat what he shoots!!

    Oh Slow,

I want what you're having!!! That looks relish. I didn't say the cape was congested, now I gotta go back and see what little favor auto correct did for me.

Dropping back now to see what I've missed

Don't feel bad....I'm here almost every day, and I still feel out of the loop!!! Or, maybe I feel loop-y. Yeah...that's it!!
Saying prayers for your DH. Please let us know how it goes. We will all be in your pocket!!

Sula, I was just having a bit of fun. Just slap me when I get out of control. haha...I'm often a victim of the dreaded auto correct!!

Sicilian, not to be confused with Italian here. So both hands held in front of you with a similar motion with knees slightly bent means "take a shit, you will feel better." Thought that might be appropriate in light of what chemo does to the digestive tract.

    And helpswith gas cancer.
