Annoyingboob, I still need to have Herceptin infusions every 3 weeks until September. I know it's not that long, but I really can't wait to have my port and tissue expanders removed so that everything can go back to some semblance of normalcy!

I have no drains! I don't have to wear my camisole anymore! I can wear something I can put over my head and not have buttons! I can actually take a shower tonight! I can drive! It is a beautiful day ladies :-)

Congrats to everyone who got great news today. And continued prayers for those who had surgery today. Ithas been a very long month for us all!

I met with my plastic surgeon and my breast surgeon today. Had a referral for a medical oncologist and a radiation oncologist, and a naturopath oncologist. Looks like I will be busy with appointments for the forseeable future! But I don't care because I don't have drains now

And oh my gosh you guys. Today the plastic surgeons office they wanted to know if I want the extended warranty on my foobs. I seriously started laughing. Like what does that cover - blowouts? Is this discount tire or a plastic surgeon's office? This is now part of my life - extended warranties on foobs. Wow. You can't make this stuff up. image

congrats to everyone today! So much good news! I'm still awaiting pathology report, but genetic testing came back negative! So I'm keeping the boobs for now 👍 We too had to cancel major plans because of all of this. Three days before we were hitting the road for a month long RV trip, I got my dx. But all we can do is roll with the punches. And my hubs and I try to keep our sense of humor about it. The other night he busted out with "we could be in warm AZ right now" and I replied "but noooo, I had to go and get breast cancer " and yes we both laughed hysterically. It's the little things. (Or we are just crazy and manic, who knows

Dcisinaz, you look beautiful! fabulous foobs! And what an amazing kitchen!

Vargadoll, I love that "my boobs are fake" pic!

I hear you ladies on the postponing of Vacations and such! I was diagnosed just after our 25th anniversary and the cruise we were planning got postponed indefinitely! Once I get through the radiation portion of my treatment, I guess I'll be able to think about planning it again. Or maybe we'll wait until Sept after I finish the Herceptin to celebrate having my port removed! Thinking of a quick Vegas trip soon though as a mental break!

How do I join the group officially? SmileAnd please ask for advice/help if it's okay. My surgery date is set for 2/27.

Went for 2nd opinion at MD Anderson last week (I have to now really support getting 2nd O's, folks) and my path. was reread as IDC instead of ILC -- with the bonus of LCIS added to the mix in some small way. Also, MDA reread my MRI and noticed another small area of concern (7mm estimated), same breast. 10/11 o'clock vs. noon for original. However, after 2 rounds of ultrasounds with my fav. MDA tech and radiologist, they could find nada on the other spot. Not seen on 2nd set of very comprehensive mammos at MDA, either. Got a call from the BS nurse who said pretty much: we can do an MRI-guided biopsy to figure this out or you can mast. that breast in 3 weeks. I was like: thanks for making that decision easier: MX. Lump was not rec'd because of my small breasts anyway. See ya'.

So -- I'm really agonizing over trying to decide between MX or BMX. Planning reconstruction either way. Nipple/skin-sparing approved. I wanted direct-to-implant, which two PS's have not advised: they said they cannot go much bigger than my current AA/A, but the MDA PS said she would do it if I really wanted to try. On operating table may have to change plan due to circulation issues. And out of this, I may as well have a little bigger boob (small B great). I really want the MX so I can heal faster and have some mobility on one side. And to balance out the TE bullsh*t. I'm not afraid of another surgery down the road for other side. Which I may be after going through it once.

My question: has anyone done MX and waited on path. and just taken time to figure this all out then gone other breast later? Maybe yr/two? Does insurance (I have good private) cover then? I know about symetrics argument for all. I may do implant on "good" side when exchange surgery occurs. That was also discussed. Too many f-ing options!!! I have family history (BRCA neg though) and have genetics in motion as we speak -- which could make the argument.

    Thanks for help.

    Any advice appreciated.

it is almost 5 a.m. and I had a reasonably good night. I think I got out of recovery about 4:30 or 5 yesterday. BMX was completed but not able to save nipple. Fine with me. I have not seen doctor yet but he apparently told my daughter they feel they got all the cancer and no sign of it in lymph nodes. Have been up once to go to bathroom and did get very nauseated but that passed. I have two drains that have been emptied once. I have not had anything else for pain but think that is about to change. I am beginning to feel pain when I move. Just looking forward to getting on with my day which includes plans to go home. Learned one thing yesterday from anaesthetiologist. When answering questions in the affirmative, always say yes or correct. Saying "right" might result in unwanted results. Praying my surgery partnerso from yesterday are doing well. I will sign off for now and probably not check back in until I am home and enjoying ice cream and coke floats.

Hi ladies. I'm in my room. Got out of recovery around 6 or 7. Pain has been manageable but I vomited all over myself and bed. Jus could not stop. So that was. fun. I

I can't get a straight answer on my lymph nodes. Sounds like they found it in at least one. I think my family doesn't want to tell me. Very sad about that but nothing I can do about it. Will see BS and PS before I leave. Incisions look ok - actually pretty good. My PS mimics an augmentation so it's vertical.

Drugs are kicking in so time to sleep. .

goingon75, glad to hear that you're out of surgery and that it went well. Enjoy your coke floats when you get home, my first little bit of caffeine (tea) late on the afternoon of surgery tasted heavenly. Ha ha for the saying "right" to the anesthesiologist thing. I had some surgery on my left leg, long long ago and the anesthesiologist had to correct me on that exact point during the pre-op phase.

shelly, you're out! Boo on the vomiting, that sucks and I'm sorry it happened to you. I'm glad the surgeons will see you before you go, so you can get your lymph node questions answered.

    brca2, mombytheriver good luck today!

vargadoll, at pre-admit one of the people you will probably talk to is the anesthesiologist's assistant. Ask to be given anti nausea meds. The assistant asked me maybe 5 or 6 easy health history questions, made a note and voila when I arrived for the procedure they were ready to give them to me. Props to either hsant or ksusan elsewhere on the board, one of them told me to do this, I can't remember which.

Loving all the good news! dcbc & Elem.....happy dancing for you...Whoo hoo!!!

FightingGMA & Fightingirl: I'm in the waiting room too. I have the oncologist appt next Wed. I'm going to be so annoyed if my MammaPrint results aren't back by then. I've already cancelled a trip to FL but NO WAY am I missing my cruise at the end of May...so there!

Worked a half-day yesterday...utterly exhausting but it was great seeing my friends & getting out of the house..

Seeing the PS today, he's always so positive it's always a good visit for me. Of course we won't be able to make any plans because we don't know if I'll need chemo yet...maybe he'll tell me I don't have to keep wearing a bra 24/7..something to hope for! LOL

I'll be at the cabana with drinks waiting for those going today! You've got this!!

Hi Ladies- thought i'd do a quick check in, waiting at home right now (without coffee and the driest skin!) before heading off to the hospital. Like BRCA chick, I'm more emotional than I expected. I'm not scared, not really worried, not mourning the loss of my A's, it's just a melancholy feeling...sadness that i have to do this and won't be able to do things for a while and what will life be like afterwards. My daughter was a little emotional last night which wasn't like her either.

I love the pictures! It's hard to stay up as this board is huge......thanks for the support!

Goingon75- good to hear from you! Hope you are home soon! Thanks for the yes and correct!

Shellybeans- sorry you puked! Hopefully that's all behind you now! Praying for clean nodes to.

Pugsmama - glad you got a half day in at work and got to see your friends! Rest now!

Jinmo- thank you for the info for my pre-op appointment. I will be sure to ask ;o)

DCISinAZ: you look gorgeous! No drains, normal clothes, driving & showers! Whoo hoo! I'm hysterical over the extended warranty!

Shellybeans, hope the nausea has passed. Praying for good lymph node news for you...

TO THOSE HAVING SURGERY: All of you will meet the anesthesiologist before surgery. Tell him or her you get nauseous very easily (even if you don't) & that you want as much anti-nausea medicine as possible. I made such a stink about it because I once vomited after surgery for days, that my anesthesiologist switched me to propofol during the surgery when my BS was done & the PS took over so I wouldn't have as much heavy anesthesia in my body...
