PugsMama - you are rocking that ponytail! GORGEOUS!
Girls, I am getting worried about radiation now! When did skin issues start? I have had 7 rounds now and look or feel no different. I am almost half was done IF the RO sticks to the 4 week plan. Wait and see I guess...I also had a call from my nurse navigator. I had been asked several times who my navigator was and my answer was gezzh I don't know. Apparently I slipped through the cracks and she just now found my file and called to talk to me about my BC and what to expect, treatments to expect surgery. Really? I let her talk for awhile before I said....I'm on day 7 of radiation. Silence from her side. Oh well better late than never. So now I have a list of all the local resources and support groups. So glad I found you girls or I was have been alone until today!
Time to celebrate 3bears and pugsmama! Drinks at the cabana! !

Vargadoll - I am not sure how many radiation treatments you were prescribed, but I had no issues at all (just skin darkening) through #22. After that my skin started to peel and I got a sore up at my collarbone. Shortly after I developed similar sores under the crease of my breast and at the bend of my underarm (the radiation apparently likes skin folds). Hopefully, you don't have enough treatments to get to the point of skin sores!!! If I had been able to stop at 22, it would have been a walk in the park!! 5 and counting!

Beachbabyk -as of now I am doing 4 weeks of rads of my body tolerates it. Just got home from #8. I feel fine and keep those area greased well! I'm using organic cocnut oil in the morning and aloe vera at night after treatment. Which is supposed to be at 6:15 but the business office has decided to eliminate the late appointments because of the overtime pay it is costing. If they had not offered 6:15 I wouldn't have taken ...they should have said 5:15 is the latest.

So glad to hear the end for you chemo ladies such a milestone!! And rads girls, soon it will be over. Soon. I had 7 weeks 1st go around and thankfully had not too much SE, but remember your radiated places will be changed even after it's healed, so respect that skin.. ( my usa scab came from rad damage )
I am getting fills to the point that the tern turtle shell term now is real for me 😳. Hope to get my exchange done before newest grandchild in mid June but will defer to PS assessment of the fragile side. That daughter was measured at 32 weeks size today (she is 30 weeks), so we don't know if he's big or maybe will come earlier- out fam babies tend to come late, though and she's pretty small for a big one.....
Love hearing each of you check in with individual progress. Nothing will take away the sweet time we've shared during this.

Bevmomduck - I didn't realize you were waiting on a grandbaby! You get an extra hug from me! Baby Charlee was the only labor and delivery my DD and SIL did without me! I still want to cry when I think about it. That was the hardest part of this stupid BC. I also couldn't keep my youngest grandson while she was having baby Charlee. We are one tough bunch of ladies but when it comes to our children and grandchildren if they need us we NEED AND WANTS to be there. I hadn't even told them Ihad BC until I realized I wasn't going to be able to be there.

My skin issues came in the early 20s too. I have 31 total. Today is the last one!!! Last night I started peeling under my breast too. It doesn't hurt though thankfully. My underarm seems to be getting a little less painful. Hopefully it wasn't in the boost zone and is starting to heal.

congrats on finishing rads cowboy!! Here's hoping tamoxifen is gentle on you!!
It gives me warm fuzzies to see everyone moving on to phase 3. Phase 1 was surgery. Phase 2 we branched apart and some had more healing or more surgery, others chemo, and others rads. Now onto phase 3!! Bang bang bang - knocking it out Day by day! Proud of you girls!
I've been coughing for almost 2 weeks. Hoping it's just some virus and not radiation pneumonitis. Crossing my fingers and toes!!
Xoxo

So much good news while I was away!!! So thrilled for 3bears and pugsmama... you chemo warriors are my heros. Same for the rads girls... so sorry to hear of the skin issues, hope all resolves soon.
While it is not Paris, my husband decided to take us to Naples Florida, beach-side, for a few days of R&R over my son's spring break... cure for the panic attacks. Well, during the first night, I awoke at 2:00 a.m. with an itchy rash...that progressed throughout the day into full blown, all-body hives. I was certain it was the Tamoxifen. Ended up int he ER that night until about 3:00, pumped full of steroids and other goodies, but no relief. While we were waiting, DH remembered that I had recently been on a new antibiotic... the nurse thought it was more likely that than the Tamoxifen, so I am hopeful. Off the big T for a week, then we will try again. On day three of prednisone, and finally feeling more normal, although not 100%.
So, no beach for me... but the resort had a lovely spa, and the ladies there took such good care of me... facial and two massages... the first massage was only6 supposed ot be 50 minutes, but she extended to 80 minutes.... wonderful. But the best part was they had a series of pools in the spa, including a cold plunge (54 degrees! Freezing!)... so everytime the itching felt too bad, would do three 20 second plunges, and it kept it under control. And there was a lovely terrace off the pools with chaise lounges, so I was able to be outside w/out the sun. And on the last day I got a couple hours ont eh beach, and in the water... so all in all, a rocky start but a fine rest.
Also: ENORMOUS CABANA BAR (see below for partial shot... I like sitting at that end to see the water)!!!! Thought of you ladies as soon as I saw it, and each time I sat with a drink. Wished we could all be there together!!! (and there were cabana boys too )
Love to all, and here is to kicking this crap to the curb.... we are getting there!!

dcbc! I'm allergic to sulfa antibiotics and sulfa drugs when mixed with the sun cause some kind of dermo-toxicity. I first learned I was allergic when I went for a long dog walk in the sun on antibiotics. At the end I was just exhausted, got super pale, thought I would faint, then a few hours later full body rash! I wonder if you are having a similar reaction? If any of your antibiotics have sulfa in them, stay out of the sun!!!!
Stick to the cabanas and have a drink for me! Xox

Yup, Sulpha... I was out in the sun from 4:00 to 5:00 that first night... hard to believe that did it, but I'm hoping!

I'm sure of it!!! Google sulfa and photosensitivity. Just a brief sun exposure changes the chemical makeup of the drug and causes the reaction. It's not technically an allergy, but I steer clear of any meds with sulfa just to be safe. If you are still on antibiotics, ask to switch to something with less photosensitivity.
Get better soon so you can enjoy your trip!! Xx

Annoyingboob - I just got a crazy text alert about an attack on police officers in Paris by ISIS! You are in Paris! Stay safe!
0 -
thanks Varga! Luckily, I live on the other side of town from tonight's shootings, but everyone will be on high alert this weekend when France has their presidential election. I'm braced for more unrest. crazy world we live in!
I got a voicemail from my ro who said xrt pneumonitis would be highly unlikely in my case. Hopefully it is just some virus, but I'm coughing mostly at night, and my dog won't even sleep in the bed with me bc it keeps her up, ha!! I wonder if there will ever be a time when we don't try to link random symptoms to our BC journey..

Annoyingboob - glad your on the other side but that's still to close! Coughing is such a pain! My grandson (11) has a barkie cough now to! He wakes me up so I understand why your dog won't sleep with you! LOL! I do get the always thinking everything is related to BC. I wonder when we will stop that!?!?
0 -
haha Annoyingboob and Vargadoll , I thought I was the only one doing that regularly. I so want to quit thinking that every stomach ache or cough is related to BC or it's tx. But my anxiety is still through the roof ! I still read way too much about those things and side effects etc . I am meditating more to try to get a handle on it.
Annoyingboob, so do you live in Paris ,France? Or are you on a vacation there? Stay safe and enjoy !

Elem- I looked foward to the day when I don't think about BC! I just finished radiation #10 this afternoon. The finish line is in sight!

yay Dear Vargadoll . I am so happy for you. You are coasting in to the finish . Yes , I too, have a strong desire to put this all behind me , but it really isn't easy .I guess because all I hear is prevent recurrences and , it seems like a lingering attachment that is still in the background! But I am determined that in time , I will get to where I don't give it a second thought. I hate the anxiety! I think in a few months , my old self will return! Have a great weekend with your beautiful family ❌

Dcbc-- I really like your cabana bar pic! Glad you girls are moving through the rads! Annoyingboob it's true, we have all been in different phases but still remain friends here.
My PS says I'll get my TEs in June. Right now I'm just coasting and going to enjoy life and grow some hair! Probably should lose 10 lbs too.
What's everybody's next phase after rads? Bevmom I think you said you're close to getting final implants.😊 I won't get there until October.
The BCBS takes a long time! But I'm so glad to be where I am.
Life is good. We go to hockey games and soccer games and we are going to buy 2 rockers for outside our pole barn. Just like at Cracker Barrel. This pic is not our barn but similar.

3bears- love the barn! Yesterday was a good day! When I got home from the birthday party my husband was already home aND he had a surprise for me. Our pool will be installed in 4 weeks! I have waited 4 years for that pool! When we moved he promised me one because we had a pool at our old house. We moved exactly 4 years ago today! Happy Sunday!

3bears- you really have a barn that looks like that? That's my dream barn. Enjoy the chairs.
Vargadoll- you're grand babies are so cute. You are so busy, you deserve a pool. Enjoy my friend.

Glad to see so many of you cruising through treatment. Congrats to pugsmama and 3 bears for getting off the chemo train.
What a relief for you all nearly finishing rads and working towards creating a new normal life. I truly believe that we will all be better women for having traveled this journey.
I believe I am one of the few that already have my implants. My rads side is very tight and feels shrink wrapped. I will be having fat grafting on 4/27 to hopefuly improve the rads side. She will inject fat all around the rads breast and to both upper poles. The rads boob does have significant rippling.
I was told that this was the most painful thing they have done to me yet. I'm hoping the pain is short lived.
I will share my experience later this week.
Hope all of you lovely ladies have a great week. I will mentally be visiting the cabanas on Thursday. I helped me through the first two surgeries so I'm counting on it again.
Much love to you all
