Z, I’m doing ok generally, having problems still with the left side of my neck and shoulder, but the anti-depressant really has made a world of difference! I didn’t know how low I was until I started feeling better and now I think holy cow! I was seriously depressed! Hope you are doing ok and waiting to hear from you how the treatment and healing affected you in Japan! Praying for great things!!!!

Divine, wow that looks like it might work for me too! I don’t have a treadmill or anything but that’s an intriguing idea!!! Thanks!

Did a two mile hike with a friend today. It was in the 40s and the sun was shining.

5000+ steps is better than previous days! Tomorrow is more renova and painting :)

Well goodness. I am at 13K steps plus 90 minutes in the local sauna and steam room doing yoga. I feel so energetic. I ran a substantial portion of my hike, to my complete shock. It is very hard to believe that any drug is going to help me more than getting up in the morning and feeling like I want to run up a hill.

Off all drugs at the moment except for ovarian suppression. The plan is to add something after a bunch of diagnostics have been completed. I am really dreading being on treatment again. It appears Ibrance/letrozol wasn't really doing anything since May or earlier so I slogged through a summer on nasty drugs with tough side effects for no reason. That experience makes getting on a new treatment unappealing.

Mara - I am in a similar place. Supposedly 30-40% of my liver is mets per a re-read of a CT with contrast before I left for Japan. MRI to assess the situation on Friday. I don't really care. I get up, take care of my family and business and get my exercise in. As long as I make my Dr. appointments, I think this probably the way to do it.

Gracie - I remember those posts a while back and your mood really scared. You are smart and brave and proactive for getting treated. It's a hole that is hard to get out of, but the first battle we have to win is to enjoy life, otherwise what are we fighting for? Great news. Holy cow indeed.

Keep moving ladies. Love reading all your posts.

Great to see all this activity. Just wanted to let you all know that my post gamma knife MRI showed slightly decreasing lesions and nothing new.

Hitting my step goal pretty consistently these days and ready for a big weekend of cleaning in preparation for next week. DH will be out of town but I'll be having friends over to eat, mostly couples without immediate families nearby and a single.

Glad to hear your news illimae. Hope the same when it comes time for me. Will probably know more soon since another MRI coming up on Nov 29 and appt in Dec with RO.

Got in two walks today totaling around 90 mins. Weather was cold, windy and a bit of snow. Thank goodness for fleece lined pants and warm hats since I still look semi bald. I managed to increase my LVEF from 55 to the normal 60 to 65 range. I was glad to hear this news since my Herceptin/Perjeta combo can be cardiotoxic and I have been on them for so long now. Going on almost two and a half years with Herceptin and over a year on the combination of the two.

Hope others are doing well this week.

Here's to fleece lined pants. I did my standard walk behind my house this morning. It's hard to believe there will be snow soon and I will have to walk the streets or go down the mountain to hike.

the sun is out after a big rainstorm. I woke up feeling good so went back to the stairs and did 6 sets of 116. I felt really good with heart rate maxed at 145. I will take my 4 mile walk later. Thinking that his means my HGB may be 10!

A few days ago I could only do 1 flight - did try it after a walk- don't think that is the reason. Back to yoga also.

    Fleece lined pants sound wonderful.

    Nice work Nkb.

90 minute hot yoga followed by an MRI today. MRI was like savasana with crazy breathing exercises and a lot of noise.

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving! With a few days off I've stayed active and been on lots of walks! Six miles on Friday and five miles today. Will try for another five tomorrow too. It's been very warm here in Minnesota so that helps a lot! What have you all been doing to stay active over thisholiday period?

    Very good DGHoff!

I've been lazy the last couple days, had friends in town, ate lots of food and binge watched 2 seasons of Stranger Things. No regrets but tomorrow I get back into my normal routine :)

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Nice work everyone. I've started running most of my daily 2.5 mile hike. Kinda impressed with myself. Every day I run a little bit more of it. Plus I do 30-60 minutes of yoga and bodyweight exercise.

I took Monday and Tuesday off because of a liver biopsy but otherwise I don't believe I have missed a day this month. I am off all meds except ovarian suppression and living the dream. I dread going back onto a treatment protocol ... but fortunately the treatment decision process is taking forever.

iwrite- good work-sounds very well rounded. Hope for no pain tomorrow-just soreness that sends a message to your brain to make you stronger.

I jogged a little yesterday (used to be my favorite exercise) and definitely used muscles that I haven't used in a long time-went well though.

So glad you are getting the port, Z! Good for you. Mine has been accessed three times in the past six days-- little sucker comes in handy. You won't regret it.

Awesome, Nkb!  Iwrite, good luck with the kettlebell re-training. I have been doing kettlebells lately combined with core bag workouts. My gym now has both. I finally upgraded to a 12 kilo kettlebell for swings. It feels too heavy so I may go back to 8 kilos next week.

Z, good luck on the port procedure. Hope you heal quickly. I had mine on the same day as my first chemo infusion. All worked out well. Hope the same for you!

Heidi - I am jealous of the kettlebell routine. I love kettlebells but it is one more membership fee and I am currently all in on hot yoga. I'll get there soon.

But not today. Port is in as of 10am today. On my chest. So much less stressed knowing I won't be poked for the foreseable future. Holding off on strenuous workouts and major range of motion exercise like yoga until Sunday or Monday. But I can walk today, they said, and jog tomorrow. And so I shall.

    Keep moving ladies.

Heidi-impressed with the kettle balls. I want to get back to weight lifting which I love-kept hurting myself-now that mets are better I will try again. lots of reps and lower weights.

Z- hope the port pain is resolved. I never had one so have no idea of the pains or pleasures of them.

long walk today with a museum mid walk and on the way home a huge parade for Our lady of Guadalupe- music, costumes, food and joy.

just wanted to add an Apple Watch update. When I first got the watch I wore it on my exercise bike and compared it with the polar heart rate monitor. It was way off. But, tried it again tonight and they were both perfectly aligned almost to the exact number the whole ride. The key is that you have to wear the watch vey snug on your wrist.

I have my no exercise weekend before my Monday scan. And no carb Sunday Sad

    Hope everyone is well.

Thanks NKB. The wrist based heart monitors work but you have to figure out how to wear them during exercise. Cardio is a priority for me at the moment because it's key to drug delivery when you are getting IV's.

I got a port installed a week ago. The recovery is a lot longer than I expected. Longer than any biopsy. It's been a week and I still cannot jog because of soreness along the tube from the port to my vein. So... I'm adapting. I have to avoid anything that moves my boobs excessively. I remembered that I can get my heart rate up climbing the hill behind my house so I was able to clock 40 minutes of cardio this morning. Yeah.

Yesterday did not go so well. I tried running for 20 minutes in the neighborhood around my doctor's office holding my boobs. Made for an awkward stride, a very odd sight, and the port area was still sore afterwards. I was pleased to find today that a brisk walk up an incline gets the job done cardiowise because that's my best option until this port heals. Could be another week. Could be two. I am going to shop for a bra that has more support and see if that helps.

I learned in japan how important it is to have have your heart rate up and circulation enhanced during IV's of any kind, especially when the drug has a short (30-60 minute) half life in the system. In Japan every IV was preceded by hyperthermia which is well documented to increase circulation and improve drug deliver. Here in the US, I don't have that option but exercise before and after IV's has a similar effect. My doctor also has me lying on Bemer mats to improve circulation during IV's. I haven't investigated how well they really work, but can't hurt.

In any case, my main treatment at the moment is Alpha Lipoic Acid by IV and orally in a liposomally encapsulated form. Oral or IV, ALA stays in your system 30-60 minutes so there is a very short window to get the drug to the target. I got a port to facilitate the IV's and it's been frustrating to find that the recovery from the port placement has interfered with my ability to get my heart rate up before and after treatments. This week has been a study in cardio that does not jostle my boobs.

Adapt ... and keep moving ladies

Z- what about stairs? We have several 116 stair areas in our neighborhood between streets and that gets my heart rate up. Hills too.

At the infusion clinic they leave a warm heating pad over the IV site the whole time for the Zometa-not sure if that counts.

Sorry the port has been hard- hope you find a sports bra that works and doesn’t bother your port. I suppose you could modify a sports bra as well.

I had a check up at my primary doctor's office earlier this month and officially learned I weigh 20 pounds less than my last appointment in May. That was when the nurse practitioner gently suggested I find a form of exercise as my weight was continually going up. The combination of her comments and several other factors gave me incentive and I started walking regularly. I had absolutely no idea I could lose twenty pounds. I was hoping for maybe a five pound loss and then try to maintain that loss. I guess it helped me to set the bar low, ha ha ha.

I want to say that I am not enthusiastic about walking, but I am dedicated to it. I ignore the voice teling me I don't want to do it and get on the treadmill like I am on automatic pilot. I try to start by eight or eight thirty a.m. I like getting it out of the way so it doesn't feel likeit cuts into my day. I walk an hour and am always a bit happier at 31 minutes knowing I got that far and have less than that to go. It is a good feeling to know I have been at this, twenty days a month of walking, since June. I never was this consistent with sticking to an exercise routine before in my life. Go me.

Great work Divine! It feels so good to lose weight for the right reasons :)

NKB, Illimae and Z -you are all inspiring! Hope this week is going well.

Alternating kettle bells with cardio days this week and am less sore than expected thank goodness. It's cold, but I'm heading out for a walk. Would like to get in at least an hour.

Holiday parties are hard on healthy eating. Who serves fried chicken, twice baked potatoes, corn and a roll with cookies for dessert to people in their 60s and 70s? No wonder these parties end early. We are all in carb comas.

    Good morning all

I hope to get moving soon. I've had a pity party and two surgeries since April which has allowed me to gain almost 20 lbs. I adore my gym family and haven't seen them in quite awhile. Maybe soon. Thanks for the inspiration.

Devine-Fabulous news! Not only are you healthier and probably feel better with 20 fewer pounds- you are decreasing your health risks in so many categories. I like books on tape if I am walking alone or music or the TV if I am on the treadmill. Keep it up!

iWrite- I did do a few weights- need to get back to it. stair climbing and walks seem to be my main exercise these days. I used to get on the exercise bike every morning before breakfast for 20 minutes- I should get back to that too.

After that no carb day before the PET I feel like I need to carb load-hahaha.
