Aww that little puppy could never ever do anything bad. Seriously, those herding dogs need to get out. Good for you!

Karz - welcome! Everyone's exercise routine here is up and down depending on the particular fresh hell we have on our plate at the moment. You've gotta move consistently every day if only to manage the side effects (fatigue and friends). It can be a 10 K but it can also be a 20 minute walk. The key is to set aside time and privacy regularly. If you end up doing child's pose for 20 minutes, mission accomplished.

I did my first 90 minute hot yoga class in a while this morning at 7am. That went surprisingly well given that I landed from Europe yesterday at 6pm. Exercise is a good way to re-adjust the clock, among other things.

Thanks Zarovka! Child's pose is my favourite yoga position - I'll keep the suggestion in mind ;-)

Bloods & scans results are back and I start Carboplatin & Gemzar on Wednesday so will start planning an exercise regime around that.

Karz. It's useful to combine exercise with IV's. Walking/running before after and during IV improves circulation and drug delivery. Anything that increases heart rate. Doesn't take much and it makes you feel like a badass.

Between the holiday food, holiday travel and losing my walking partner at work to another job, I have gotten into quite a winter slump. But next week I join a fitness challenge at work and I hope it’s just the kick start in need. Thanks for the beautiful pics and continued motivation :)

Illimae, I love that saying. So funny. I am sure you will hit your stride again.

I am stil walking both outside but have also taken to walking around the house as well when ice does not permit walking safely. Still getting at least an hour at a moderate pace.

I am also still NED from neck down so scans being moved another month, 4 months instead of 3. I do feel very lucky and will remain active as long as possible. Brain is behaving too since no growth since September. RO says perhaps they were not lesions but settling of my tumour resection. Hope so.

    Hope everyone else is well.

Good to hear Mara, funny we seem to be on a similar schedule. My bone met is stable, just graduated from scans every 3 to 4 months and nothing new in the brain since October. :)

So glad to hear that illimae! It is funny how we can be on a similar path for sure. May it continue for a long time.

I am praying you guys have a dull as mud scan year followed by many more.

I am doing well. Yoga and or walking every day for the last 2 weeks, aided by very nice weather Headed to Rochester, MN tomorrow to get rads to the sternum and liver. Weather not so nice but will attempt to continue the exercise streak. I have intense pains in the ribs, sternum and across my upper back. Could mets or could be from coughing my guts out through the holidays. Or both. But I feel fundamentally well due to the exercise. Yoga in particular, when I can stick to an intense routine, gives me a calm energy. Great to have that particular buzz going on while I deal with pain, rads and mets. So ... yay exercise.

Keep moving ladies. You are awesome. You are inspiring.

Love the good news, mara and illimae! Good luck on the rads, Z. We are rooting for that abscopal kick. Looks pretty windy there, Nkb. Did Zumba and weights yesterday but I'd really prefer to be in Maui.

Yes. Windy. Spent most of the day lying in one scanner or another. Still very tired. Resting.

Great news Illimae and Mara! NKB- looks like a cool hike! Z- Hope the scans and treatment show successful treatments!

Got in my steps today by walking 1.3 miles to my bone scan at the local hospital...resting in the "tray" then walking home. Take THAT cancer.

Kathryn - Way to kill cancer and get your diagnostic at the same time!

It's easy to get my steps walking between departments at the Mayo clinic. Tomorrow I have 2 radiation treatments (different body parts) and a zometa infusion and faslodex infusion (long day), then i head home Saturday.

Z- Mayo is huge so you will definitely get in the steps today. I know you will get great information there. Hoping for you that the rads help!

    Safe travels tomorrow

Hello All! Good news on my scan yesterday. Stable with no new or enlarging lesions! This is great news as my scan in December was unclear as to progression. So, my onc had me do another after six weeks to make sure nothing was amiss, and things are actually unchanged. Whew! Don't like those uncertain reports so this is a relief!

I have taken up some new exercise. My husband has finally decided to agree with me that maybe backpacking isn't the worst idea ever, so we are planning a backpacking trip end of March in Arizona. We've been tromping down the sidewalks with our fully loaded bags to get our bodies used to this idea. It's been a few years since my last trip, and I haven't done more than about 3 miles with a big pack since my diagnosis, so I am pretty excited to get back out into the wilds! I'm trying to balance comfort at camp with comfort on the trail and weighing everything. With bone mets in one vertebrae and one hip, I know I have to be a little careful, but I also will not give up my sweet camp chair or air mattress regardless of how much they weigh.

I am amazed at how much easier it is for me now than just a year and a half ago. I did a three mile backpack trip at that time and was just a few months out from chemo and had not been spurred into consistent movement by you wonderful people. I am a lot stronger now! So thank you for helping build me up so that I can keep on moving down the trail! It's still a good tough workout carrying that pack, but I feel prettygood doing it!

DHHoff- this is wonderful news! I’m so happy to hear it. I thought of you today re yoga and wondered how winter was treating you. I’m so glad that you are getting in shape for an outdoor trip!

I’m am back to strengthening and feel so much more valid being stronger. Hope everyone else is getting out and about.

DGHoff - so pleased with the news on all fronts. Thanks for letting us know.

Nkb - congrats on the strength training. nothing better for the mind than getting stronger.

I am dealing with pain for costocondritis (pain in the upper front chest) but also something slightly separate in my upper back/shoulders. Probably strain from coughing a lot this winter. I've been able to continue to walk and do modified yoga daily despite the challenge. I feel strong and strangely "well" despite this condition. It's worst when i am lying down and the hardest movement is to roll from one side to another while sleeping. triangle pose? no problem. kinda strange but glad to be able to keep moving ...

Going well, I managed 2nd place in last weeks Fitbit workweek hustle, I’m down 3.2 lbs, am participating in a 12 week work weight loss challenge and 12 week state/gov employee fitness challenge (measured in steps). I’m also looking into upcoming 5k’s, I see 2 in April (one is the wicked wine run in Galveston and the other is the West End brew run downtown). Meals are getting back to normal,DH is diabetic, trying to get him back on tract too.

Z- para scapular pain (if that is what you have) can be from so many things. Often stress/tension, poor posture (like on a computer for hours etc), heavy backpack. It can be referred pain from neck etc. ice or heat, massage do help, making sure your alignment is good.

I also have just gotten costochondritis after sneezing and coughing. I have coughed my brains out many times in my life and never got this. My new theory is that our low estrogen state makes everything more fragile and less elastic. I feel like I've injured myself just turning over in bed or some equally benign movement. I am mystified by some of the injuries I have had recently.

    Illimae- you are inspiring

llmae - sounds like you are doing great with your routines! It has been so cold and icy here it is a struggle to make myself get out and walk. I at least do a little yoga every day even if I can't get out for the walk, but you are inspiring!

NKB - I need to do more strength training too. I am doing squats with my backpack on, and I definitely notice it the next day. I should do more upper body stuff besides the yoga, I suppose.

Z- I have had that scapular pain before, and it can for sure happen from a lot of coughing. I used to get it a lot when I drank milk as it exacerbated coughing, but now that I've cut that out, I don't cough very much any more. Hope your cough quits and that the pain dissipates soon.

To be fair, my steps fell drastically when we had the ice events here and several freezing days. The past week has been in the 50’s and 60’s mostly and let’s not forget that you all keep me motivated
