Philly- Kudos for making it to the gym! And nap is a nice reward for exercising.

DG- The cold is paralyzing! Hot tea, a fire in the fireplace, and a little yoga is all we need. Didn’t I read that we burn lots of calories when it’s cold??? Maybe skip yoga till it’s above freezing.

I’m in Mexico right now (where it is raining every day). I walk around the resort and do water aerobics during breaks in the rain. No complaints as I’m wearing flip flops. Non-alcoholic pina coladas taste great in the brief moments of sunshine. Fruit’s healthy, right?

    good morning friends!

Another lol 😂 I know some people look at me like I am cray about the weight gain but I’m usually pretty tiny and now I’m definitely more full-figured and I can feel it...like a sluggishness and also my face looks older and my skin is dimpling all over my body even my calves which I never had before. I am 42 inside a 70+ yr old body. It’s just hard for us younger with MBC’ers to get pushed into medical menopause and completely have all our plumping estrogen ripped away. My body has totally taken the toll of these meds and I am constantly aching somewhere in my body. Lately it’s been my back. I can’t seem to touch the pain through massage. I even went to the strongest chinese tuina medical massage and the young man who worked on me whispered in my ear “muscles too tight!!” Yikes!!! I think it’s giving me some sort of complex around my body for sure.

Iwrite oh how I love Mexico!! Which part are you in??? Even in the rain Mexico is so lovely!!

DGHoff brrr so cold!! It’s barely making it above 34 F here today. I am about to hit the gym for some tai fit and abs. I am sore from that workout yesterday.

I am realizing that I am going to have to probably start toning things down a bit. My body hurts too much. Probably get more into regular yoga and taichi and dance, rather than these more hard core workouts. I am just in denial 😭 cr

    Philly,

I can’t imagine how awful this is at a young age...it’s bad enough when we’re already saying goodbye to estrogen! Hugs to you!

Don’t give up the exercise you love until you must! It’s not BMX racing...

I’m north of Playa del Carmen. Visiting Cozumel Sunday-Tuesday.

philly , if it hurts whether you exercise or not you may as well exercise...

What's wrong with denial , the whole life we spend in a denial feeling as if we and our whole world with us are not going to die...

I feel for you re treatment and detrimental effect on the body...I do. It stings..

Re fuller figure- my daughter who is slender and reasonably athletic - almost perfect figure at 15 to - wants to be heavier 😁. One always wants something. ..

I very much into bodies and I enjoyed watching you exercise, the outline of your muscles contracting. So while I understand a sting of something that is lost I hope you are not thinking what is present is not good enough !

Philly, I am with the others, what weight. You certainly kick butt in that class. Way above my level. You keep going.

I just walk to songs throughout the day, happy because my outdoor cleats to put on my shoes so I don't slip and fall when walking outside came. Can now go to the grocery store for myself instead of having it delivered.

My workout this evening will be clearing out all the packaging from my portable spin dryer. Not a huge piece of equipment but it was packaged in 3 separate large boxes. I could have done with one box and lots of biodegradable padding inside. That would be easier. Since it was heavy I have to cut the boxes in pieces to get them out.

philly, you kicked butt with the kickboxing! You looked powerful!

Yes, I sometimes look in the mirror and think, hey, do we have to block all that estrogen? I feel like my skin has aged ten years in the past two years! I am, fortunately, not achy very much though. I think the morning yoga helps tremendously. I also get up from my desk twice a day at work to do a stretch routine. It takes only about three minutes but makes a big difference! I did some heavier yoga on Sunday with lots of arm stuff and I’m feeling that a bit, but the daily mid-day stretches help so much, even with sore muscles.

Lwrite- Mexico sounds better than MN right now! Enjoy Cozumel!

Mara- thanks for the reminder that I have cleats! I forgot I had them until you mentioned yours. I finally forced myself outside for a walk after work tonight. Snowy and a little slippery so cleats are good!

Putting away all that packaging was quite a workout but got it done. I managed to get it all outside, did manage to cut my finger open as well when cutting down the boxes but am happy with the spin dryer. Got almost 10000 without any real marching. Just walking around the cancer clinic and to and from the garbage. Oh well, I will take that as a win

I love you ladies! Thanks for the kind words and encouragement and helping me to remember to get over myself. I was having a pity party there for a moment.

Got a wonderful massage yesterday - so good! I can’t imagine life without massages and bodywork and these types of healing therapies. They make my life so much better! In my top 5 favorite things that I couldn’t do without!!

Hope everyone’s having a good Thursday. I’m off to work here but procrastinating doing some work stuff I need to do...sigh...slow moving here...the massage brought me down to earth and now I’m in slow motion.

Love and hugs and keep moving, every little bit counts!!

I finally got fed up with murky head feeling and did a 20 minute chair fitness routine I found on YouTube. Still have to do modifications for the back, but it made me feel so much better with much clearer thinking. Think this should help strengthen things too.

I love chair workouts Sondra, does not just have to be walking or running. Any movement is good. I admit some of them I find taxing.

Yesterday I walked 2.6 miles (with a full backpack) through Playa del Carmen to get to the ferry for Cozumel. Made it barely :). Then hiked to my hotel. (The Flamingo- I highly recommend it)

Today was snorkeling. Tomorrow the plan is to get back to Playa to catch a shuttle to the resort. I’ve been visiting the island for 20 years and haven’t been back for three. It’s nice and warm...

Plus I’m substituting an alcohol free pina colada for lunch every day. Does that count as a smoothie

Lwrite, I vote that your pina colada counts as a smoothie! Pineapple? Coconut? Yes! Sounds like a great day!

I've been good this week with exercise! Walking every day, a high energy fitness class on Sunday, and yoga every morning. Now, I just have to keep it up!

I am still hit and miss on activity. Weekends - running, hiking, yoga. Weekdays - I take the dog on a walk around the block and only get about 2500 steps in. I don't even have weather to blame because it was beautiful and almost 70 in Denver today. Not as warm as Mexico, however... and snorkeling and Pina Colada sounds amazing, although I think I would probably have mine WITH the rum. Glad you are enjoying it, Iwrite!

Philly - I am with you on the early menopause and the estrogen coming to a screeching halt. I was thrown into it 7 years ago at age 45... and I can relate to all you are talking about; aches, pains and weight gain. Pre-cancer, if I wanted to lose 5 pounds I stopped eating much for a few days and wham, I lost the weight and now it doesn't matter what I do... and mine seems to be centered in certain spots, which doesn't help. HOWEVER, I remind myself how lucky I am to be here and able to participate in this Stage V Fitness group! And... you and your workouts are amazing! You are consistent and seem to have SO much energy! That is what is important! :)

    XO

The fact that we exercise at all is a major accomplishment!

    Nice work DG!!

Andi, 2500 steps counts! And you have beautiful views.

It will be mall walking when I get home...seeing H&M 4 times is different than seeing mountains :-/.

I did 3.5 miles yesterday hiking to catch the ferry and hiking through Playa del Carmen with that backpack. Good workout!!

Then went to the swim up bar at the resort and had a margarita (with tequila). When in Mexico.... Slept 9 hours last night to recover.

Home again Saturday. It sounds good even when it’s cold. Please remind me when I’m whining about the weather in March.

Hi. I read your posts and realize if you can continue with exercise during treatment, then I can, too.

Yesterday, I walked/jogged 3 miles. I made myself do it. It was a mental feat.

So, I might not post my exercise accomplishments - but know that I am trying.

    You guys - truly amazing.

    Thanks.

Sandi, don't feel compelled to post. The activity will benefit you for sure. Even small bouts of exercise are good.

I have a horrible chest cough but I will still walk because I am not short of breath, will be hard to motivate myself because I do feel tired, but I will do 10 to 15 mins after each meal. Every walk will make me feel better.

My exercise does not compare to hiking or other things. We just need to move when we can. I enjoy everyone's posts and sometimes read this thread when I really don't want to move. It inspires me so I want to hear what everyone does, big or small, 5 minutes or a long hike or classes.

Yes! I do get inspired by all of you and it keeps me motivated to move. I took off a couple of days to nurse a cough that was a little rough, but today, my husband and I went for a three mile walk to take advantage of this nice sunny day! I'm going to my Sunday morning fitness class tomorrow as well, and I will plan a good walk and some yoga tomorrow too. Keeping it moving!

Pelvis was feeling good this morning so I got moving - I did a 10 minute walk around the block. I almost cried I was so happy to just be outside and not in the house/hospital, and I even managed more than three steps at a time with my crutches. I said hello to the resident swan pair, the Egyptian geese, the seagulls, and other random birds in the canal.

If I'm feeling this well tomorrow I think we may try to take the bus both ways to the hospital for my radiotherapy appointment as I think I can handle the walk to/from the bus stop.

    Mental status - upgraded!

Sondra that is awesome! I know so well that gratitude feeling of being able to move more freely again and to just be OUT! I hope the bus ride is a big success tomorrow!

I still do my 2-3 miles walk videos with Leslie Sansone, or a walk in the village I live, plus my PT, but I remember so well those days in the spring when I could just go round the block with my cane. It feels so good to be able to put on my sneaks and be more brisk about it.

Few days off here though, with a toothache that is worsening and a bit of nasal and chest congestion just for added fun. My body feels like resting today so that is what I'm going to do.

Moomala, sorry to hear about the toothache and the sinus/chest congestion to boot. That really sucks. I had my own cold that went into my chest this past week for the first time since 2015. Knocked me on my butt. I kept walking as much as I could muster since I was not short of breat but it was hard. I took ton's of buckley's expectorant and ibuprofen. It is gradually lessening its grip but it was the nastiest cold I have had in a while. Could not really have a visit with family as they don't want my cold. They did bring Buckley's over though which was very much appreciated.

Did a Turkey Trot yesterday and moved so slowly (taking it easy, had liver biopsy Tues) that I was beat by a trash can! A strong gust of wind sent a cardboard trash box scooting down the street ahead of me, for a comically long stretch of time. Hope everyone who celebrates had a happy thanksgiving and didn’t overdo it shopping on Black Friday. Here I am with my lil’ turkeys:

Way to go, Momchichi! You and your turkeys look great! Too funny about the garbage can. Smile

I went for a three mile walk at a prairie wetlands yesterday and today did a bunch of yoga inside since outside is wet and snowy today. Hoping it clears up tomorrow so I can get a good outdoor walk in, and I'm planning to go to a fitness class. Sort of a combo of weight bearing, cardio, and kickboxing sort of moves. Just challenging enough to make me feel like I'm working hard, but not so hard that I feel overwhelmed.

Hope you all enjoyed time with friends and family this holiday weekend. I'm grateful for all of you here!

Sounds like everyone is getting some good exercise in. Now that a huge storm is here, I will go back to my treadmill for awhile. Tho The outdoors does seem to improve whatever ails me. I had a terrible tooth infection (pain pain pain) and outside walking with music was my only solace for several days.

Still trying to ride the exercise bike for 30 minutes before breakfast. I feel better and warmer if I do that. In Yoga my teacher has been focusing on strength poses a little more which is good for me. going to add in a little more weights- I just went through months of one injury after another and got a little scared of stressing any body part. I agree with DH- yoga has been a lifeline for the joints for me.

Sondra- I am glad that you are getting outside- it really helps I think.

iWrite- walking in Mexico sounds heavenly.

still enjoying my Apple Watch- tho it does nag me!

Hi everyone, it's my first time posting here. This looks like a busy thread.

It is finally cool in AZ so I went for a four mile hike in the mountains today, it was so beautiful. It was so nice to get outdoors. The air was so fresh after all the rain we had last week. I have been trying to exercise at least 5 days a week by walking or doing yoga.

    Enjoy your night!

I put on traction cleats and walked to the grocery store for milk. There was a lot of freezing rain so boots were not going to cut it. Put the cleats on slip on sneakers so that when I got to the store, I could easily swap out shoes since cleats slip and slide on hard floors. When done shopping, just had to slip on the shoes with cleats again and walk home. No slipping and sliding, and got a good workout too. Was happy with this progress.

Hello everybody! Momchichi - I love the picture! Turkey Trots are so much fun... good for you! Adorable little turkeys.

Welcome to Simone80! This is a fun thread. You live in such a great place to get outdoor exercise and fresh air in during the winter when the rest of us are freezing. I don't know what part of AZ you are in, but I love Scottsdale! Tucson, too... with those mountains.

We just returned from a week in Hawaii. I will get some pictures posted soon. Our entire family went, as well as my sisters family, my mom and some cousins. 15 people in all - and lots and lots of fun. I drank way too many Mai Tai's! I did manage to get a few short runs in before it got too hot, and we went boogie boarding, swimming and snorkeling, which must count because I was always exhausted after I got out of the water. We swam with spinner dolphins... huge pods of them, which was one of the most incredible things I have ever done. Just grateful for the time with my family.

Now back in snowy Colorado and needing to regroup, etc.... so not sure when I will get anything in this week, but I will try!

Happy Belated Thanksgiving for those of you in the US, and no matter where you are - I am very, very thankful for this amazing group of women. (and men!)

    XO
