Wow -what a gorgeous pic, Andi! Sounds like you had an amazing time in paradise. My family is headed for Hawaii soon and I'm excited to show our kids where mom and dad got married in Maui, 17 years ago. I hope to do some hiking and kayaking and show the kiddos lots of beaches - it'll be their first time seeing the ocean!

Momchichi - Thank you! I cant' believe you got married there! It's truly one of my favorite places. I am trying to figure out how (eventually, "maybe", depending on several factors, obviously) we can retire there for part of the year. I am torn between the Big Island and Maui; we love both of them. When we are in Maui we usually stay in Kapalua, which I think is the most beautiful part of that island. We love to hike and kayak too. Some day I'd love to do the Napili Coast on Kauai. Our kids absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the ocean - they can't get enough of it - they are like fish! I am sure yours will love it... and what a special trip that will be for all of you!

On movement this week; still limited, as I knew it would be. I did walk the dog today, so got a little in. Thinking of trying to make it to a 6am yoga class tomorrow, but that is doubtful!

    XO

    Momchichi,

a trip to Hawaii sounds wonderful. I've always wanted to go there but I can't get my husband to go.

    hello fitness friends!

My family did a Santa 5K today and my lil’ sweeties (cindi Lou who and the grinch) stayed with me despite my sloooow pace - had my first infusion of gem/carbo Friday and I was hoping to take advantage of the steroid premeds to pump me up but instead moved like a turtle from the Ativan I took this a.m. for nausea. Hope everyone else is doing well and walking/working out/napping!

Momchichi, good for you. Be proud that you did it. Fast or slow, that is quite an achievement. Especially after chemo. Be proud of yourself.

I love the picture in your Santa suits too.

Nice job Momchichi! Looks like a fun thing to do with family and friends.

I made it out to the mall to walk early thiS morning. 1.5 miles...it's a start. My feet have been hurting a lot lately. Someone on the Ibrance thread said it's a known problem when atorvastatin (Lipito) is combined with Ibrance. One of the ladies started alternate days with the statin and got some relief. I'm trying it!

Hope you all have a good week

I love to mall walk! Ours has tons of regular walkers and a group of new moms working out with their babies. I just have to be sure to leave before the food court opens or I’ll eat all the calories I just burned off!

I have not mall walked in a while but definitely enjoy doing it.

Today it was raining a lot, so instead of walking outside, got my steps by walking a song on the treadmill throughout the day. Enjoyable and just a great mood booster. In between songs, chores like laundry, vacuuming and dusting were done. Only watched a couple of TV shows. Lots of fun though. Should do it this way most days I think.

Momchichi - loved the picture once again! You definitely have two good little reasons to keep moving! And Mara, your workout sounded wonderful. I wish I could spend a day doing that...… I did finally join the YMCA (with the intention of swimming, which my husband reminded me I have been saying I am going to do for ten years and never doing it) and went to a HIIT class on Saturday, which was a good change of pace, and then Hot Yoga yesterday. I think movement and exercise are more important than every this time of year.

I know this is sort of getting off topic (fitness and movement) but last year in the middle of December I did this "cleanse"... it was actually called something else, but I don't remember what. Four times a day I would drink 3/4 of a cup of spring water mixed with 1/4 cup real cranberry juice (not from concentrate) and one tablespoon real lemon juice and one tablespoon apple cider vinegar. You are also supposed to eat really well, which I do most of the time minus the holidays. Anyway, I actually lost 3 pounds during that 11 days. I am thinking about doing it again. It is VERY sour, but must be very cleansing.

Bravo, momchichi! Great pics! LOL on the food court. Andi, gorgeous family! What a sour concoction! Sounds very healthy though.

Just recovering from a virus. Still feel dizzy-ish. But have been walking the dog outside. No malls in walking distance. May need to drive to the mall when it gets really cold. I remember I was once was scolded at a mall in Houston where I was spending Thanksgiving. The security guards said no mall running, only walking, although there was no one else around.

Funny that running was prohibited if no one was around. Mall running sounds quite interesting to me.

momchichi and Andi - I love seeing your family pics! Thanks for sharing!

It’s very cold here so I haven’t been out walking much this week, but I’ve been dancing and doing weights and yoga in the house. Trying to embrace the cold but I still haven’t quite gotten used to it!

Hi all. I finally, after 2 failed attempts on my part (I backed out) got my port out this last Thursday. It was in my arm, which I understand is somewhat unusual. Now that I can get shots of Herceptin instead, I thought I should get it out and for some reason I was led to believe (or tricked myself into believing) that this would be easy peesy. It was SO not easy. 45 minute surgery since I have had it so long... and I had no idea that the cathedar ran from my arm up in to my chest. Why I didn't know this, I have no idea. Anyway, they finally got it out and I think my body must be in shock, even though it's just a little local area. I feel terrible - I can barely get out of bed and I had a whole weekend of exercise planned! Bad time of year to be sidelined! I am hoping it's better tomorrow.....

Hope everyone else is enjoying the weekend and getting in lots of movement - inside or outside! :)

    XO

Hi everyone, hope you’re all recovering from illness and surgeries ok.

I started back at the gym this week with less activity, slowing working up to a good level. I missed all of November due to medical appointments and vacation travel but I realized how much better my knees felt with the break. So, I’m back gently for now.

oh Andi67- that sounds like a shock! All sorts of adhesions maybe attached to the tubes etc that your body is healing from! I hope you can take a smidge of Advil or something and get outside for a walk soon.

Mae- I’m glad that your knees are happier. I finally had the red blood cells high enough to enjoy jogging again- but, my feet said oh no you don’t. Back to walking, exercise bike and yoga.

Andi - I'm not surprised that it was a little tricky to get out. They really had to yank on mine a bit too since it had been in my body for over two years, and it sounds like you've had yours for even longer. Hope you are starting to feel better now as your system recovers from the shock. Give yourself time to heal. It's a pretty dramatic thing to have something removed from your body.

Mae, glad you are back in action!

I wasn't super good about exercising this week, but yesterday we finally had some warmer temps here and I got a three mile walk in, and I also attempted 108 sun salutations outside on my deck. I only made it to 54, but that is still an awful lot of sun salutations, and my muscles are feeling it today. I did go to a fitness class today too and then did a lot of walking at the mall doing last minute Christmas shopping, so I got my daily steps in for sure.

Hope all those of you who celebrate Christmas have a very merry one!

Hi all.. just popping it to say a belated Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. DGHoff - you are always so committed! I am not even sure what a sun salutation is.... I do Hot Power Fusion yoga and I don't think that is one of the poses. I have been doing it for almost a year, although not consistently - sometimes 2-3 times a week and sometimes not at all. I am FINALLY starting to feel stronger and like I am getting the poses down. I really have a hard time going from a plank position to a lunge - I can't get my foot up to the front of my mat - my back just doesn't bend that way anymore. :( Oh well.... it does make me feel good. It's supposed to snow here tomorrow so I am headed out for a run, which I haven't done in quite a while. We'll see how it goes.

Mae - glad you are back in action. Vacations and holidays make it so challenging to stick to a fitness routine. I just ordered a new dayplanner… it's called Commit30 - actually a PAPER planner, not digital. I haven't had one in several years. This one comes with stickers, which I know sounds a little juvenile since I am 52 years old, but I am hoping that if I have something in front of me and plan my weeks out carefully, it will help.

    XO

I have had a good couple of days for walking. 15000 steps yesterday and 17000 today. Had to take the bus over to a goodwill donation location to drop off a printer. No car, went by bus and the route involved a lot of walking. Happy with that for today.

Please check with your ONC about taking atorvastin with Ibrance. I was suppose to start my Ibrance on the 26th but they postponed my start until I was off atorvastin a week. There is sometimes negative interactions with the 2 drugs.

Andi, I love the idea of a paper planner. It is a very good idea for sure. I am still digital but put things on my calendar all the time, fitness, shopping lists and even appointments. Good job.

I am about to go out in the rain. Bit of walking to the bus stop to get a few things. Wearing my raincoat so I don't get completely soaked but looking forward to it.

Edited to add, just got back. Got soaked except under the raincoat. 12000 steps so far. Warming up by a heater and changed my clothes. Believe it or not, I enjoyed myself even though it was so rainy.

    Have a good day all.

paper planners are really popular right now. I read about people who can’t stop buying them- they are addicted. I am keeping my exercise on the Apple watch , but still lose paper lists and crossing things off.

Holidays got the exercise and food totally off- got to get back to it. Long walk with DS today - tomorrow he heads back to Montreal and I will have an empty nest. :( my grand child doesn’t like to be in a stroller anymore- likes to wander picking up rocks - so that’s an exercise change for me.

    Happy New Years!

I have taken it easy last couple of days. Only about 8000 steps yesterday and did not walk outside at all. Far to blustery for my taste. No walking or activity today. Laundry is about it. Don't typically go to New Years Eve parties so will order something in and probably go to bed before midnight. On to 2020.
