    Hello ladies,

Good work ladies! Some days it’s a victory to get off the couch and laundry is above and beyond. 2.87 mile hike in the woods for me today. 2 hours... I always think I’ll be able to go farther, but then I get tired and worry about making it back safelyto the trailhead. Hiking alone so better safe than sorry.

Sadie- I know what you mean about the injuries. One area gets heard and another falls apart! I am in Iceland now- it is cold, windy and rainy- we are still doing lots of hikes and stairs. Today was sunny. Tomorrow a small plane to get to some icebergs and it will rain so I am a bit nervous. But, new and beautiful countryside. image

Well, finally spent some time on my poor feet.

They were very calloused and rough. Used an emoji roller and went to town. Followed up by a basic pedicure. Ready to build more callouses with more walking after lunch. Also had to darn a lot of socks wearing out with the extra walking.

nkb - amazing picture! Iceland is on my bucket list! Please post more when you have a chance.

My weekend included yoga, a 3 mile hike, and an evening of dancing, which I am pretty sure counts as exercise. I was wearing cowboy boots with a slight heel (it was a Western party) and the next day I could barely move - I was so sore..... I had to take a hot bath with a big CBD bath bomb in it, and this morning I was fine. CBD does wonders for me.

Today is Monday, and of course - nothing. I am going to try to walk tomorrow at lunch.... it's so beautiful here in Colorado.

Have a great week and keep moving!

    XO

Awesome pictures, Nkb! I did a 5k to benefit cat welfare on Sunday and on Monday, I tripped over my own cat and broke my arm. My husky tried to comfort me by plopping her 50+ lb body on top of me as I lay on the floor in agony. Maybe she was protecting her injured mommy from possible predators in the foyer? Hoping to get back to exercising in 4-6 weeks, just in time for it to be colder and make me want to hibernate.

wow NKB! SO.MUCH.WATER!!! How absolutely beautiful and powerful! The two pics are like opposites of one another. Serene and quiet and wild and strong! Both powerful in their own way. Is that a sculpture of a whale spine??

Oh my goodness momchichi! what a crazy (and sorry made me laugh!!) story!! I’m just picturing this giant doggy sitting on top of you while you’re yelling in pain with a broken bone! What an image!!!

Andi you are so lucky to live in the gorgeous state of CO. Philly is pretty gritty. Heck, we even named our hockey teams mascot “Gritty.” It’s not gorgeous here but the people stand strong! It’s the people that make the place here. I knew I had to give up the beauty of the PNW for the dirty streets of Philly but that I was happy to be back with people who care about one another and their communities. At least that’s how it feels to me!

I did Zumba with a fierceness last Sunday and then had my Lupron and Xygeva shots on Monday. Those knocked me out for a few days and then today I got back to cardio kickboxing and was a sweating fool. Gosh I think these meds make me sweat more!! Does anyone have this happen to them? That you sweat like crazy when exercising? I just drip!!!! Lots of water afterwards. I’ll try and hit zumba on Sunday and then a couple classes next week before I head back to Vermont to see the leaves again!! 🍁 👀

    Hugs to all!

Did not get a ton of exercise. Did some walking on the treadmill until I had to leave for the court house. Am a witness in a murder case. Someone left bloody clothes in my backyard back in January. Didn't see when it was put there, just called police when I saw it. Did not even open my patio door for a closer look.

Unfortunately after sitting around all day waiting, it turns out that there is no time for my testimony today so I have to go back in October. I just want to help victim's family get justice for their loved one.

    Momchichi- yikes! sweet helpful doggy.

It’s called the sun voyager- a dreamboat ode to the sun and peace. So much water there!

I have been riding my exercise bike and taking walks. I bought a new Apple watch as part of my “don’t wait” campaign. It is beautiful- calls 911 if you fall and don’t respond, does EKGs and tons of exercise info. Tells time also!

Home is for sure where the people are.

Mara- whoa! Looking out your window just got complicated!

That is very true. Luckily, I have moved since then and my view is just of the brick wall of the house next door to where I live. I also really don't have a backyard to speak of.

NKB - your Iceland pictures are amazing! So beautiful! I've always wanted to visit Iceland, but just have not had the opportunity yet.

Momchichi - I'm so sorry to hear about your broken arm. I can't even tell you how many people I have known who have been injured by tripping over their pets. I think it is pretty common. Hope it heals quickly.

Mara - Wow! Being a witness in a murder trial is not something you hear about every day. Glad you moved to a new place so that old bad energy isn't in your space anymore.

My scans all came back stable and echo was good so we truck along for another few months until the next one. I've finally been getting in pretty regular walking and a little morning yoga. I'm trying a little bit of run/walk action, but my running steam runs out after one block. Maybe I can make it two blocks next time. Little by little we do what we can, right?

nkb - thank you for more beautiful pictures! I really want to go to Iceland...needs to move up on my bucket list. I love that - "don't wait" campaign. I had to read that a couple times before I got it.... but I think I need to adopt that, and the Apple Watch sounds amazing.

Momchichi - so sorry about your arm! I have tripped and fallen over my 150 pound Newfoundland more than once, and lucky I haven't broken anything. Hope you mend quickly!

Philly - you must be off enjoying Vermont right now! I do love living in Colorado, although people are moving here in droves and it's getting too crowded. We are off to Montana again this Friday and I really think eventually I'd like to end up there. (only in the summer. In the winter I want to be somewhere nice and warm! I am sure this will never happen, but I like to dream about it! ) It just snowed there last weekend so hoping it warms up enough to do some hiking. I was in California last weekend and in spite of the lovely weather and my good intentions I really only got one good long walk in. I am leaving work early tomorrow to head to Yoga, and then I am going to attempt to run on Thursday.... we will see if my hip holds out. I am feeling fat and lazy!

Hope everybody is having a good week!

    XO

    hi everyone!

I’m back from my road trip and peeping leaves and hiking around Vermont and upstate NY! Soooo beautiful!!

I feel like I made up for lost times hiking this past summer - I barely made it out of the city and was sad about that. This definitely filled my nature void!

Hope everyone is doing and feeling okay? Andi I can completely relate to the big dreams! I have a few places I’d love to live but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. I’m pretty sure I’m here to stay on Philly and will just travel from here to the beautiful places.

    Some pics from my trip!

    image
this was on top of Mt Jo in the Adirondack mountains. The hike was very steep and rocky and was about 2 miles I think? I was so sweaty when I got to the top! Heart rate was pounding in my chest and my carotid artery was pumping something fierce!

me in the pretty trees 🌳 🍁

I did about 4 hikes in 7 days. Was absolutely stunningly beautiful! I love fall!!!

philly- this is a gorgeous area! I’m glad you got a good dose of nature and leaves changing!

my HGB is so good that I tried jogging- not short of breath which was lovely- but, am left with very sore feet now. I’m going to let that old exercise love of mine go I guess. Being injured is a waste of time. my new Apple Watch sends me a map of where my walk was- yesterday walked around a neighborhood village with a friend and got the convoluted map of our wanderings.

Very beautiful pictures for sure. I have been mixing in treadmill and walks to the grocery stores and bus stops. Step goals are met. Need to work on my arms. Coming home with milk and a few other items really tired me out though I felt wonderful afterwords.

Philly, I love the pictures! So beautiful and I am happy that you got some nature time in. So important. Those mountains are stunning and it's so fun to see you!

We just got back from our little Montana weekend. I had my mom with me, so didn't get in any hiking... it was too cold for her, but I did get in one good long run up and around Bozeman and my hip actually held out! Now I am home to stay... no more traveling for a while, and it's going to be cold and snowy tomorrow so I need to figure out a winter workout schedule that will keep me motivated. I am going to head to Yoga tomorrow in the 36 degree weather. :( Not ready for this!

Mara - I know what you mean about needing an arm workout... I absolutely need to do that too. I do have some five pound weights and I try to walk around the house with them, to the mailbox etc.. and do a little lifting once in a while, but I think I need something a little more intense. I don't have much strength!

    XO

Philly- Beautiful pictures! I’m so glad you got out there and enjoyed the hiking and the views!

I’m visiting CO this week and hiked with my daughter yesterday afternoon. Did about 2 1/2 miles. Picked some of the wild sage that smells so wonderful. Soaking in the beauty to get through this coming Midwest winter.

I’m with you all on the missing upper arm strength...ugh

    hi Everyone!

this thread has been quiet. How’s everyone doing?

I’ve been in a schlump!!! Not sure why??!! I’m in week 4 of Ibrance cycle...sometimes I feel slowed down.

i could go to cardio kickboxing in 30 minutes but all I wanna do is eat some food and mosey my way to the office.

How do you push through this? Or do you not? Do I just accept this feeling and let go?

    Struggling!!!

I always feel better when I work out...The motivation is GONE at the moment.

I’ve been sleeping like crazy. Maybe I need an adjustment to my lexapro?

    Any input is greatly appreciated!!

    love,

    Philly

    hey there fitness friends,

I’ve been sleepy and lazy, too - probably the weather changing. I hate the shorter daylight! I did enjoy a family hiking trip to a state park over the weekend and was able to keep up with my kids for the most part, broken elbow and all.

Beautiful Momchichi!! And you did that wjth a broken bone to boot??? Wowwww! Truly impressive!!! Must’ve been a lovely hike! how did you break your elbow?

I do think the weather/change of light is possibly causing an effect of laziness on me...I will see how next week goes :)

I'm still here. Still walking on the treadmill mostly. I have to hand on with at least one hand but I do free weights at the same time as the treadmill. Haven't done much walking on the spot. SE from treatment isn't going to stop my exercise. The walking is like taking a happy pill for me. I did drop my gym membership since I have not been to the gym in months plus it is far away from where I live now. No car. I do like the fact I have to walk to any of my bus stops. We will see if that continues into winter.

    imageHello fitness friends!

I escaped to Colorado and spent a week with my DD2, SIL and granddaughter. Played and hiked and ate well. I took this out in Ute Valley Park. Tried to not cry when I tucked in the little one on Monday night.

Flew back Tuesday and started painting the new kitchen. Great upper body workout painting a 10 ft ceiling... 4 coats. It will be worth it, but what a lot of work!

The leaves are starting to turn color so I plan to go hiking in the woods this weekend!!! I want to be outside as much as possible before it gets miserable out there.

Hoping that all this painting counts as exercise!! The change of season definitely makes couch time attractive! I'm still looking for the couch under all the construction stuff.😜

Love seeing how you all are doing!!

Great job, illimae - love the medal and the cause! I read your post and then registered, too. It goes until the end of the month. I’ve never done a virtual race before, it sure beats waking up super early and hunting for a parking space. Thanks for sharing this awesome idea!

Good morning everybody......I feel like I have been in the biggest slump of my life! (well, almost.... except for the six months I spent in a chair during chemo). I haven't done anything since LAST Friday, when I went to yoga, and before that it was one run in Bozeman. I agree with whoever said it might be the weather... I think that has an effect on our mind AND our body. I got up early today thinking I'd run before work and instead I am sitting here drinking coffee and catching up with you guys. Since this is the Fitness thread, I think that counts in some way, don't you? :) I have no excuses - I have had the time and the weather has been beautiful, but I haven't done anything! :( My left hip is also starting to flare up a little. I think the cortisone shot I got in August before my big trip is wearing off.

This isn't a very positive update, is it? On a good note, it's going to be a nice weekend here in Colorado and my husband is gone for the weekend, so I will have NO excuse not to get out and do something!

I am scheduled to get the port in my arm out on Monday! YAY! After 7 years. I am excited and scared at the same time. I feel like it's a security blanket, but I am so tired of having it there. In my head it's my excuse for not having totally trim, fit, toned arms. The two aren't even related, but that's what I tell myself.

Iwrite - I love the picture! Glad that you were here and able to enjoy the lovely weather with your family! And I also love the idea of a virtual race. That is brilliant! Maybe we could do some sort of virtual race on this thread.... boot camp.... 30 days of 10K steps in December to avoid holiday weight gain... something?

Philly - hang in there! I hope you get to some of your fun classes this weekend! I love hearing about the Zumba and Cardio Kick boxing and probably need something like that to give me a shot in the arm! (haha! after my port is gone!)

    love to all -

    Andi

Andi, I like the idea of the 10000k/per day boot camp, not just over the holidays. I have an app that tracks my steps over a day. That would push me to actually walk most days instead of sitting on the couch filling out surveys for cash. I do walk most days but don't always hit over 10000. Would be a good motivator for me.

Go Mae! Nice to get that medal! That is very cool! How does one get involved in something like that?

Well, I got off my fanny today because I had to get my blood draws. It forced me out of bed at a normal hour. And then I went to a beginner's pickleball class at my gym! Boy was that fun!!

I must've looked pretty good out there because a couple ladies (who seemed to know what they were doing) invited me to join them during the week to play! YAY!!! FUN!! And I got teamed up, by the coach with 3 men in their 60s/70s? I was the one 40 something yr old female with them. It was awesome to score points against those older dudes LOL! I think I can be a little competitive!

Pickleball may become my next obsession! So fun! Its a mix of tennis and pingpong and maybe racquetball.

Andi - I feel you about the laziness. I do think it is in the air! And congrats on getting your port out! I know it must be a little nervewracking but at the same time, I imagine you feel relief once it is out. Then you can work on those arm muscles (wink!)

    Hugs all,

    Philly

Philly, the person putting the virtual race on does it for her mom who passed away from MBC with proceeds from registration going to metavivor. I found it through Instagram but there’s probably a FB page too. The name is likely Miles4Metavivor.
