Lehrski, that paddle boarding does sound awesome and with otters is even better.

Sondra, good for you for keeping moving when tired. Fatigue is certainly no joke but getting started does help.

I had a terrible day yesterday, still very fatigued from Herceptin and feeling a bit nauseated. Got very depressed and weepy that day. Decided today would be different. My only goal for today was to walk for an hour on the treadmill. Got that done and felt less exhausted and foggy. Ate breakfast and decided since it was nice out, I would walk to and from Walmart for groceries. Round trip, the walk is 7 miles or 11.5 km. The only rest I took was on the way home for some lunch at a burger joint. It was very hard to do on the way home but kept my steps smaller and steady and kept my breathing slow. My bag was at least 10 pounds as well. By the time I was nearing home, I was exhausted but did not stop to rest after lunch due to the fact that, had I stopped, it would have been hard to keep going. For me, I don't believe my body is in super shape so much as I am stubborn and mind over matter. I also exert myself a lot, even at a slower speed but I am still glad I did this for myself. Lots of advil and stretching to make sure my feet are not too painful tomorrow. Probably will not walk tomorrow but stick to my elliptical for activity.

high 5 ShetlandPony, excellent point 👍🏻 Some days I need to push that line a little farther 😁 You know what I am going to give it a try where the line is now ;))))

Mara I hope you feel better, hug

I do feel better thank you and surprisingly, my feet and muscles are not bothering me, even first thing in the morning. I am taking it easy, did 2 hours on the cubii elliptical. If I want more activity, I will go on the treadmill. Not in the mood to sweat the way I did yesterday though I must say the elliptical is enjoyable. Not feeling the need to move all day though. Glad to know long walks can happen. I may try two hours on the treadmill first thing in the morning tomorrow.

Was feeling it today so I did 40 mins on the spin bike and then another 40 or so lifting weights and stretching.

I figure on the days you are feeling well its best to take advantage of it!

That and the fridge is stuffed with leftovers until at least Thursday so I had nothing else to do. :D

Today will probably be a walk - at noon if possible as the gusts have finally gone and the sun is out. We are due a loonnngg stretch of incoming rain from Wednesday so I want to get into some sun while its possible. I did invest in a really good raincoat for this winter, however, so I can get my walking in in the evenings.

Hope you got your walk in Sondra, I took a lovely walk today to get a prescription. Only about an hour long but it was very breezy, little humid due to some incoming rain here too. I used my UV blocking umbrella as well. Saturday's 11k walk was definitely good, but my arms broke out in a rash which I think was a combo of my Herceptin bumps and the sun being so warm. I also wore my uv blocking shoulder shrug as well. I still enjoyed my walk, thinking about an hour long walk to the grocery store to get milk possibly as well. Not feeling like going for 7 miles today.

Ah I didn't make it at noon, so instead I will go once I finish dinner here in a moment. I love evening walks, though, listening to music so I am ok with that :) Tomorrow I have to go into town midday to get a hair cut and return a package so I should get a little bit of sun then before Wednesdays deluge (wet socks in the CT scanner!)

Hate wet feet with a passion. I have an small pair of rubber boots. They don''t come up superhigh but at least keep the feet dry.Glad that you are walking tonight, enjoy it.

I am just thinking about walking to the grocery store. Not sure if it is sunny, going to take my UV umbrella because we are supposed to have rain later afternoon and evening. My rash from either the cancer drug or all the sun saturday is driving me mad. Put some hydrocortisone on to soothe the itch. No more getting out of carrying the umbrella if my skin reacts like that with 50 UVA and UVB sunscreen put on twice. Lucky my face did not erupt in the rash and bumps. I get funny looks with the umbrella but I don't honestly care. Don't need skin cancer as well. The walk was really a good experience. Might incorporate a couple of long walks a week depending on the weather too. I honestly enjoy shopping at Walmart at that mall. It just feels amazing to walk from one end of town to another.

hello everyone, was away for a week camping and boating. Put my lower back out while there - no doubt doing some stupid reach and lift thing while forgetting I have crap abdominals at the moment. Have been slowly recuperating. Just when I think it's better, it flares up again. It was so bad I could barely walk for a bit. Now it just twinges and I have to be careful how I move. Moral of the story is don't get hurt because jeeez, we don't recover as quickly as before! I might go crawl in our hot tub and I booked some massage therapy next week.

    keep moving everyone :)

Well, it cooled down a lot here but was still pretty sunny. Decided to walk to a further away grocery store and get what I thought was just a few things. Came back with extras so the walk home was a slog. I was carrying milk and vinegar on my back in a large knapsack and then a few items I purchased at the dollarstore on my forearm. It would have been comical to see this person walking slowly and slightly leaned over to the side. It was slow going but I did make it home and feel pretty good now. I am pretty stubborn and most walking for me is mind over matter. Sometime this week, I will probably do another walk for the 7 miles if it is nice. Just to get a few things, nothing to heavy. Walmart carries my favourite queso in an almost double size for just over a dollar more.

Well, still walking most days. Started today with a 45 min treadmill walk, a steady pace for me which is 2.5 mph. Matches where I feel like I am at outdoors. I used to shuffle my feet when walking outside so going a bit slower reinforces the lifting of my right leg. I also put a step bench between the living room and kitchen. I use my right leg to step up and over. I tripped over the slight elevation before and figured the step bench would prevent that and it has. One time I had to move it, I almost tripped again. I also used my cubii elliptical. Finally found the easiest set up for me. I have laminate flooring and the mat that came with the cubii did not hold it in place. I have no room for a desk so I took my storage ottoman, put it on top of my yoga mat so the mat would not move and put the cubii there. When done working out on it, can put it back in place. I bought a bed table that allows me to use my computer while on the couch and it works very well. My wee treadmill folds up and takes up very little space. I love my spacewalker treadmill too.

Today, I had so many things I wanted to do at the same time, started with walking on the treadmill for a few minutes, doing something else like laundry, going back to walking then doing a survey to make money. I have walked about 40 mins. May make up a trip to the grocery store to get extra walking. I have enough cash from surveys to get a couple of free items. Don't honestly need anything, just bored. When I come back, will probably do the same thing again.

I did decide to force another walk. I really really did not feel like walking, but I have been feeling fat lately so decided to force the issue. I walked an hour round trip and went to the grocery store for one item, my queso. It was free anyway from surveys I did so that was good. I am sweaty but happy and it was nice not to be exhausted but energized for the way home.

Today has been a productive walking day. Started this morning with my cubii elliptical for about 45 minutes and then decided to walk some. Took myself out to a restaurant that is further away. Round trip, more than an hour of walking. I did stop for lunch there. I am also just getting ready to leave for just a half hour outdoor walk as that should help me sleep better tonight. Sitting on the couch rest of the day.

I miss everyone else, hope you are all doing well.

    hi Mara,

I did a lot of walking today, too - around the zoo with my mom & kids for a couple hours. Hopefully all our fitness friends are enjoying some beautiful fall weather and getting active outside!

That trip to the zoo sounds like a lot of fun. I am loving the fall as well. I enjoy it more when it is not humid for sure. Will walk again tomorrow I am sure.

I agree, this is a good time of year to enjoy the outdoors, overall not humid most places and much more comfortable. I am sorry the sun is setting earlier but no big deal.

Hi Mara, I hope you are doing well and enjoying activities. To be honest when I read your-full of energy-posts I inspire even if I can’t do that much activity that I want to. Anyway, I had to be calm and slow for few days for prep for tests. But this month, I do not have to any test yay.

I am back on track, stick on activities plan and gonna update here 👍🏻

Fall is interesting season, every part of the globe experience it differently. I bet Canada is cooler and much more colorful in this beautiful season.

I did have to take some time for recovery from camping and the post camping cleanup. I just don't have the quick bounceback. I've been fatigued and just not up for as many or as long walks.

I'm seeing a massage therapist for my back that I injured while camping and have stretches assigned.

All this week so far has been warm and beautiful..neighbour was mowing lawn in shorts. Vancouver rains are arriving today though. I like rain.

Mara - that’s great with all of the walking! Especially 7 miles.

Moth - glad you got out camping. Packing and unpacking takes energy, but time outside is worth it. Sorry you hurt your back.

I just bought a stand up paddle board. Being newly stage 4, it’s been hard for me to wrap my head around buying stuff, when I don’t know what the future holds and how long I’ll be working. But a friend said to enjoy the now.

Lehrski, I didn’t buy anything for about 6 months after diagnosis but once I realized I could live for years, I decided to do or buy whatever makes me happy. I may not get long term use out of some items but if they bring me joy, they’re worth it.

Still not back to my previous activity level but I have been busy packing and cleaning. DH and I will be selling our home and relocating to our mountain cabin. Just living on rocky, slopes land and completing the cabin build (plumbing and interior walls) at an elevation of 7,000 ft will definitely count as exercise.

Illimae -Living in a mountain cabin sounds wonderful! My parents built a cabin in the mountains after retirement. That sounds like a lot of exercise.

lehrski, I recently bought an under-desk elliptical machine that mara51506 "recommended". It's wonderful! It wasn't super cheap (around $250), but so worth it. When I have pain, it's not always comfortable to walk, but I can sit and pedal. It's been well worth every penny.

I, too, think about what I should be spending money on. I hope this doesn't offend anyone (I'll edit it out if it does), but my husband and I love the movie "Moonstruck" with Cher and Nicholas Cage. There's a scene where she's driving her fiance to the airport because he's going to see his dying mother. She asks him, "How near death is she?" because she wants to set a wedding date and he doesn't. Anyway, our joke is when we want to spend money on something (like my car that needs to be repainted), we'll look at each other and ask "How near death is she?" It's funny to us, but we're kind of twisted that way. Actually we have a strong faith in God and trust Him to see us through whatever comes. Hopefully we'll get through this with humor and grace.

Again, please let me know if I've offended.

I walked for about 90 minutes throughout the day both outside and inside, did about another 45 mins with the elliptical. I do have issues with it sliding on the floor, even when sitting on its own mat and the yoga mat. My solution was simply to butt the cubii up against the couch and put my chair on the yoga mat when I use it. Takes two seconds to set up and I can watch videos on my tablet or laptop if I use my folding bedtray for laptops. My wee apartment is tiny so there is no desk to put it under.

Well, I way WAY over did it this week - two solid spin workouts of almost an hour back to back days strained something in the intercostals and diaphram. Been paying the price on THAT for the last two days, but I think we are almost out of the woods. I need to adjust the bike set up and that should solve the problem. Add on an emotional week (second opinion on Monday), work being stressful (for no reason), and my flu shot yesterday and a day in bed was well earned :P

I wish so much the pools were open again. I would give anything to be able to go swim :(

Ill go out to get some air on a short walk later this evening and then do some stretching.
