I did 2 hours of walking yesterday. Walked for half an hour this morning and am now watching real housewives today. Taking it easy today.

Been feeling cranky the last few days so as I have the house to myself tonight I got off my ass and did the bike for 10 mins to warm up and then did a full weights circuit (well, a bag of cat litter standing in for a heavier kettlebell) and then some stretching. Im going swimming again Saturday morning and can't wait!

Sondra, good invention of using the cat litter as a kettle bell. My portable washing machine works my arms when I take it out of the tub to have a shower. Weighs 30 lbs so that is not bad.

Hi everybody, I am new to this post but I am here for a sad but good reason. I was just diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer it is a reoccurance on July 15,2020 I switched doctors and I'm going to a doctor that specializes in advanced breast cancer. He really believes in quality of life. With my first day visit with him I met his team which included a PT evaluation. I now am going to physical therapy 2x's a week. It is amazing. I was walking with a cane and had trouble with my balance.

I was very skeptical that PT would or could help. Well I was wrong. In Just the 3 weeks I've been going to pt and started Chemo I walk without my cane, balance is 80% better. I am so encouraged. So more activity does make a difference. I'm excited to learn more from you guys, and in reading your posts I'm encouraged. Keep up the good work. keep posting and I'll chip in how I'm doing.

    Thanks

Welcome to this group, we love seeing people posting here and inspiring each other.

I just got something in the mail that I ordered the other day. I have been concerned about my weight even though I walk so much. Wanted something besides walking to do so I purchased the Cubii mini eliptical that was 100 less than its normal price. This thing is heavy duty, weighs almost 30 pounds and easy to assemble. I have used it on my couch for 2000 strides which is equivalent to 1000 walking steps. I was also sweating. For anyone who getting out of a chair or weight bearing excercise is a difficult thing to do, I highly recommend it. It can and does give a good workout. It is also small enough that I can move it. My plan is to use it for 10000 strides eventually most days. A stride is supposed to be equivalent to a step. I can go fast on low or bump up the resistance to mimic a hill. I plan to keep walking but this is good for those days my feet hurt, and does not take up as much room as my exercise bike. My back appreciates it. It has thousands of 5 star reviews as well.

Good idea for some exercise. Just to be clear, the cubii I got is this model shown on youtube. It is very comfortable. I did 9999 strides which translates into 4999 steps if I was walking. I still need to do some cardio that taxes my heart more BUT I was sweating a couple of times on this. Worth the price, get the mat. Check your QVC, amazon or other online shopping channel. If you have hard floors, not carpet, make sure to get the mat that goes under it so it won't slide around on you

I've dug my fitbit out again. For a while it was hurting my wrist - I think it was when I'd lost a bit of weight and there was too little fat to pad the nerves.
Doing a minimum of 5K steps and most days closer to 7-8. Haven't cracked the 10k yet since being sick in May & June but I'm getting there:)

I like your new gear Mara. I'm sure you'll especially appreciate it during winter storms.

Ok everyone, let's keep moving and sweating:)

Thanks Moth, it is pretty addictive. I will still need to walk but I have already been furiously peddling for 70 mins. After each session, I stretch my inner thighs out as I can feel them. I would not want it to be the only exercise I do, but on crappy rainy days, if I don't feel like walking outdoors, nice to have it in here. I like using it barefoot if I wish.

I have a Pilates reformer machine at home that I love because of its flexibility in what it can do, from all over toning and strengthening to aerobic workouts. I do on my own but mostly stick with videos. I couple this with streaming slow flow and restorative yoga classes and hiking/walking. I realize how much upper body strength I have lost- especially when I tried kayaking and canoeing, so that’s going to be a big of focus for me. Finally feel like my SEs are more controlled....at least better understood, (Please let my next scan be “stable”) so time to hop back on the wagon. I slipped off when I was feeling so lousy.

Hope, I love the idea of a pilates machine for the uniform strength training cardio and toning. If I had room, I would definitely add that to my home gym. At some point, I do intend to get an adjustble dumbell as that would negate the need for tons of different hand weights. Strength training is really the only thing lacking for me. I get plenty of movement each day. Been washing blankets. Stair climbing. 13 each leg, 3 times per day. Simulates my condo stairs. I had to set up my step bench where the kitchen/bath had a slight rise. I tripped over it and hurt myself. With the stepbench, I am able to step up with my right leg. This strengthens my weaier leg as well. If worst comes to worst, sit and lift your legs, look on youtube as well if balance is not the best too. I love chair workouts for working the whole body.

Mara, I ordered my Cubii Jr. today. It will be delivered tomorrow. I do have a Fitbit, but haven't been getting in my 10,000 steps lately. A few years back, I had a goal of getting in 1 million steps in the month of June. I think I averaged 33,000 steps, give or take, each day. Needless to say, it took almost all day to get all those steps in. I was exhausted, but I did it. My legs got in really good shape, too - haha.

I'm going to try to get back to 10,000 Fitbit steps again and will decide on a goal for the Cubii elliptical. I also found a book with chair workouts, so I'm incorporating that, too. I've gained about 5 pounds since I started this MBC journey and I want it to stop.

Sunshine, good for you. I used the elliptical today barrefoot. Was a good workout. For now, my goal is to max out the strides reading 9999 which in steps, according to cubii would equal 4999 steps. I take it with a grain of salt about the steps. Overall, the cubii is going to augment what I already do. I quite like, easy to do. Usually just sit on the couch and play amazon music, tell alexa what I want to hear twice. I also can definitely feel the work in the legs. Sort of reminds me how my stationary bike felt back in the day. I also like that it is heavy duty too. Does not feel cheap in any way.

33000 steps in a day is an excellent accomplishment. Don't think I ever managed that many when I was tracking steps, most I got was maybe 22000 and not everyday in a month. Once my tracker stopped logging steps, I gave up on it. I know for me, I average 1000 every 10 mins of walking. I also enjoy chair workouts and have resorted to taking marching type steps around the apartment just to cram in extra steps. I find my treadmill boring but insist on doing at least half an hour when I start my day. Then I can do whatever I think I want to for the day.

Mara, My Cubii is "Out for Delivery"! Yay!!! I hit 10,000 yesterday, even if I did have to jog in place to get the last 500 steps. I decided that when I'm watching one of my Hallmark movies, I'll get up and march/jog in place during the commercials. I do get outside for several walks a day, but since I'm not walking so far, this helps me meet that goal. I'll let you and everyone else know what I think of the Cubii.

Love hallmart movies. I watch them here too. I mostly have enjoyed Signed, Sealed and Delivered movies.

Good for you marching on the spot, it still counts. I love my cubii. I did find that even on the cubii mat, it would move slightly so I pulled out my yoga mat and laid it down, it does not budge there. Also put two pillows behind me on the couch as I think I was causing it too move by not being straight up. I love it.

My exercise today was a half hour treadmill walk, lots of work on the cubii. I did go to a sushi place for the first time in my life, tried a lot of good foods. Will definitely go again. After word I attended a rally at a local park which required standing for quite a while which I am not used to. Please to say, I learned a lot, had to sit eventually but that is OK. Did not do the marching because by the time I was there a couple of hours, I found I needed to go.

I have enjoyed my day and will probably pedal some more while watching news.

Oh man, this thing is great. It's a heavy bugger, though, isn't it? What's cool is that I'm pedaling as I type. Maybe not a quickly as I can when I'm just sitting, but who cares? I put the little chair stoppers under the wheels of my office chair. My heart rate is up just a little bit. I tried it for a few minutes, and could actually feel it in my thighs when I stood up. Embarrassing, but that's OK. I'll stop at 10 minutes for this first time. I moved the dial to #2. Hopefully my husband won't be too upset with me for buying this. Haha

Sunshine, I love the little elliptical. It does provide a good workout for what it is. I never felt the same amount from little peddlers I have had before and as far as the cubii, when I was working at home, it would have worked very well for me. I am obsessed with getting to 9999. I used to stationary bike so it was not difficult. I agree, can feel it in my thighs so that is good, keep my legs strong. Good option when I have a sore back. After the rally at a local park, I can say my back is sore BUT I can just sit and pedal away. Love it. My diet was out the window today but this should help keep my weight steady or decrease it some if I maintain the walking I like to do. I do have some foot pain so some days, I may only use the cubii. Yes, it is very heavy but I like that it feels so substantial.

Mara, thanks for sharing the video, I am already in to this little pedal machine, barefoot (walking) pedaling is great for me as still wearing socks is a huge project! and I likedoing exercise while watching movies. I like heartland Canadian tv show.

I like that show myself. Barefoot pedaling is great as well. I like that it does not hurt my feet. Good for you for taking off with the cubii

I did walk for an hour outside and did an hour on my cubii elliptical so that was good. I was more tired today from being out all day yesterday but the walk was good as well as the elliptical. I really like it.

Popped on the spin bike today for an hour - with the new FitBit I can do a lot better monitoring of my heart rate so can make sure I don't over do it like I was a few weeks ago. Lately I've been enjoying a 20 minute warm up in 'fat burning zone' and then 5 sets of 5 minutes, with the first minute and a half in a climb (peak zone), and the other 3.5 minutes in a low cardio rate state. Last 20 minutes is back into fat burning, which is what feels like a really slow turn over of the pedals. Hard to remember this is easily the most taxing workout in 15 months, so you know, gotta take it a little easy!

I did the pool Saturday for a half hour and it was a brisk 17C (mid 60s F). I have a slot tomorrow at 10, but the water temp has dipped further as its been quite cool at night lately. Its doable, and I believe in cold water therapy and know how to manage at these temperatures, but I am also prone to sinus infections. I love the pool but it may be time to try and sort out something heated!

Good to see you Sondra and good workouts you are doing on your spin bike. Admittedly have never tried a spin bike but sounds like quite the workout. Good for you. Not sure I could do it in the 17 degrees. Autumn is coming and nights are getting cooler here too.

I waited on deliveries all day at home so just did the elliptical for about 2 hours. I still enjoy how smoothly it goes and feels good if my feet are sore. One of the deliveries did not show and may come tomorrow but I don't intend to stay home all day again. Places to go and people to see.

Sunshine, would love to be able to use the elliptical with my computer but i don't have a desk to use. Just the sofa. My brain may start trying to think of a workaround. Tight quarters in a tiny living room, may look into a side table to sit my laptop on if I want to do surveys and pedal at the same time.

Hi Mara and everyone, I hope you enjoyed long weekend.

Sondra 2 thumps up for swimming in cold water, I like it too much.
Heat here is so annoying plus air quality is not good due to wild fire spreading. So I couldn’t stick on my plan, I mean outdoor walking. It is another reason to buy that cute little pedal machine.
Only yesterday evening, I tried outdoor- walking, I liked that actually, it was like sauna! Public/ community pools are still close here. Weather forecast said Colorado is snowing!!!!! Whaaaat Only few hundreds miles away from heat/ fire, snow?!!!

Blood test and infusion this week, pet next week, fingers crossed for good results.

    Wish everyone a happy week.

I've been walking, doing chores around the house and every few days doing a bit of a zumba routine at home or Jane Fondas walking (YouTube). I've been steadily climbing in my step count and yesterday hit the magic 10K. It feels good to be active again. I do have a teeny injury - pulled a hip flexor while sitting in an awkward position 🙄 I feel like a hockey player - seems they're always out with some groin injury 😁 it's improving though and hasn't really slowed me atm.

Missing swimming but we're going camping at a warm lake at the end of the month and by then I'm allowed to swim with my port. Surgeon said no swimming with it for 4 weeks to prevent infection.

I'm too chicken to use the public pools here. You reserve but it's up to 4 people per lane! Doesn't make any sense to me.

    Keep sweating, friends!

Ok moth the hockey player, just don’t get in any fights.

Can anyone recommend a slow/beginning/adapted Iyengar yoga video I could use at home (maybe on YouTube or something, Idk)? I don’t have any problems moving, but I am not strong or flexible. I do classes with my local studio via a meeting app, but I would like to add another class or two per week. With this fatigue, I’d rather follow a video than have to motivate myself and decide what to do. Between covid closures, bad weather, and my newly discovered adrenal insufficiency, I am not up to strenuous walks outside, and I am having a hard time getting motivated to dance on my own. So yoga is my current exercise, and also I need the de-stressing.
