I really like the website https://www.doyogawithme.com/

You can search by style and difficulty etc & it's free though you can subscribe to support the content providers. Lots of very generous talented people sharing their teaching for free on that site

Moth, great suggestion as well. I have seen it when considering yoga for myself.

Feeling proud of myself this morning. I set a goal for myself yesterday to go back to walking an hour non stop first thing in the morning. Though I walk a lot, I rarely did more that a few minutes at a time,up to maybe half an hour. Though the amount of exercise is good, my weight continues to increase even with diet modifications. The last time I lost a good amount of weight was 2017 when I started walking for an hour every morning before my breakfast. At that time, I was not restricting my diet. Don't really want to restrict food too much because the meals give me good bloodwork. I think I will make my goal an hour long walk minimum on the treadmill and possibly do some weights before breakfast for my arms. I will maintain this morning regimen and see what it does for me. I understand weight loss should not be my primary goal when dealing with cancer, but it would not hurt to get back to my 180 lb weight.

OK, I am back. I am even more proud of myself because I took a half hour walk outside before breakfast as well. Like the fasted state for me because I never get the lightheaded jittery feeling on low blood sugar. I was full of energy from the first walk and appreciate the boost it gave. I will also continue to eat what I normally do and hope moving the bulk of the walking exercise to the morning will accomplish a bit of fat loss for me. The number on the scale is not my target so much as just changing my body shape, less belly and butt size. I hope you all have a good day.

Moth thanks for sharing the link.

Mara I am proud of you 👍🏻 Inspiring me to start walking early morning. and definitely scale numbers are not important. It is important that you feel healthy and your level of energy is boosting. I do walking around evening, that helps my sleep, I mean makes me physically tired so I can sleep better. But I give morning-walking a try, see if it affects my energy level.

I found that my energy level was much better. Normally, I walk in short bursts with rest breaks, but today I just decided to go back to the basics I was doing in 2017 and doing at least an hour on the treadmill before breakfast. The half hour walk after that was just something to do extra. I did go on a third walk up and down my street while waiting for deliveries. I did not even use music for the outdoor stuff which was unusual but nice too. I just want to make sure I stay in shape. Managed some squats to.

Moth that yoga looks very relaxing to do.

Checking in here - was feeling tired after a day of meetings (like... my ONLY day of meetings this week, please, no one think I am actually taxed at my job :)) but instead of a nap I slapped on my gear and got on the bike. 45 minutes tonight, stretched, shower, then dinner. Can definitely tell I am getting stronger and my lung function/capacity has improved considerably in even the last five weeks. I like to watch Golden Girls episodes while pedaling - two if its a cardio day, 1 if its warm up for weight circuit.

Moth, you ever do Yoga wit Adrienne on Youube?

Sondra good job on the bike. It helps to have something to watch or listen too as well when exercising at home. Good job. I too love the golden girls, I downloaded the entire series to watch here and there.

I was only going to pedal the cubii today while waiting for some deliveries but decided I must have the Christie Pirate cookies in my pantry, oatmeal and peanut butter. Took over an hour in all. I was breathing harder but never short of breat, just happy I decided to do that.

Did a couple of walks on my treadmill for 30 mins each. Got sweaty and breathing harder which is good. Funny that after each walk, my body just wanted to shut off and sleep so I did take micronaps after. Ate too much for my lunch and wound up walking and then needed to go lie down to process the meal. Terrible. At least the walked moved it along faster. Not sure I want supper, think I will just cook up some beans, but of cheese and spinach with taco seaoning and queso too. It is yummy and not too much for me to process. I know skipping meals is not good. Not sure if I want to walk after supper, though I might. We will see after the news.

So I have been thinking about my diet as well as my exercise goals. My diet gives me excellent iron, red blood cell and other readings. I eat a lot of beans and spinach and they are about the only things I like. I always have them topped with a handful of shredded cheese, wheat bran flakes combined with taco season and queso. I have looked into losing weight and carbs but am not willing to give up how I feel from what I eat. I have decided to simply shrink my plate and eat the same stuff. I need the energy I have been given with these foods. Cookie and junk, I have been disciplined enough to have the Pirate cookies and only have two per day. Doing this and the extra activity should send the scale the other way.

On the other hand, I am changing up my at home walking. Going to just walk 5 mins at a time throughout the day. I am finding that doing half an hour or an hour is causing me to feel really sleepy which I don't like. I don't want to have to nap repeatedly in a day. My treadmill tracks how much time I have put in and I think the energy pickmeup throughout the day works better. I don't have a job so it is easier for me to do this. I am even more willing to get on the treadmill 5 mins. My feet also appreciate the shorter duration as I do have some foot pain. Outdoor walking to stores and such do not need to change and I will not need a rest break every 5 mins. I also have parts of the day I need to spend in front of the computer in order to make a little extra money on the side to boost my income. Getting up regularly for a walk or an elliptical pedal for a few minutes I think will be helpful.

Have a good day all. Keep moving

Edited to add, I accomplished an hour of this walking 5 mins on the treadmill, going very briskly on it. I decided to also throw in 5 mins of elliptical after the treadmill walk, little more movement would be good for the joints and definitely not hard on the feet. Love my cubii.

I think I will do two days 'hard workouts' and then two days off (or rather, light walks/stretching) and see if that pattern is doable on a consistent basis. Yesterday was a rest day after doing quite a few weights on Friday, and then today I walked to the store for veg/fruit/dried beans (alright, some cookies too!) and hauled two full bags home the long way. Felt just the slightest twinge in my lower back but otherwise ok. So tomorrow I will do a longer cycle, then Tuesday will be a short cycle + weights circuit.

Mara - I had the last of my carrot/bean burgers for lunch on top of spinach (with some feta on top), this after a breakfast of bran flakes cereal :) Maybe Ill take out a packet of cooked borlotti beans from the freezer and put that on top of spinach + pickled red onions + feta + pumpkin seeds + make up some chipotle cashew cream as dressing for lunches this week.

Oooh, that sounds quite yummy. I love feta cheese. Just got to find veggies that go with that that I would like. You also sound more inventive with food than I am. I don't honestly care for beans unless they are combined with queso and cheese, but I NEVER get tired of eating that. I can almost see topping my plain burgers with feta instead of peanut butter sometimes or making a pizza bun out of the bun that is left over. I may have to grocery shop tomorrow. I am sure there are recipes out there for toppings for a burger pizza. It would use up the hamburger buns on the days I have beef.

My feet have made out better today. I did take a 200mg advil with breakfast and lunch but the five minutes on the treadmill was not bad. I did an hour of treadmill in all and about 1/2 hour on the cubii. Think I may keep this routine up. As said before, outdoor walking will not be changing. Diet will not change except for the amount of food I have. I also did not feel nearly so sleepy. I may keep doing this for a while because thinking about walking for an hour was making it really hard to want to do it and procrastinating in everything else I need to do. Today felt more productive.

Mara - as tasty as the burger version was, they took a bit of prep work so I thought about how I could break it down and get the same taste with far less effort, so Im thinking a hash I can spoon over. I would really prefer to put crumbled Mexican cheese, but cant get that here, so feta it is!

My other favorite is black beans + spinach + feta + cooked sweet potato cubes + pecans/walnuts + dried cranberries + balsamic reduction drizzle (uh, I buy that. Pain in the ass to make!). That combo came to me one night when I was headed home during a stressful work period - I ate an entire bag of spinach that night!

I've also made an old work cafeteria recipe (Mexican Chicken Salad) - salad mix + black beans + corn + roasted red peppers + shredded taco cheese + sliced chicken breast + crushed nacho chips on top + spicy ranch dressing (Newmans Own ranch with hot sauce mixed in)

I like a little bit of crunch, a little bit of sweet/spicy, creamy beans, and spinach. So within those parameters I like to think about what I have in the cupboard/fridge that can combine to deliver that.

I visited my brother last week and had the chance to go waterskiing with him. I thought - why not, what do I have to lose. I got brave and waterski jumped which I haven’t done in nearly 25 years since I was a college student. I managed to land on my feet and ride it out on the second try. And I had successful run through the slalom course. Woohoo! Too sore to move - need to try the doyoga

The spinach/black bean/feta dish sounds amazing, Sondra! I tried a roasted Brussels sprouts, artichoke and Feta dish with pesto last night that was yummy.

Thought of you all yesterday when I got back on the trail for a 2 mile hike. It was so good to be outside and away from the house for a little while. No one else in the woods so no Covid reminders either. Needed that!

Redoing the iris beds today and planting other spring bulbs. Perfect fall weather in the 60s and sunshine. Hope you all have a good weekend!

I put spinach, feta and mozzerella cheese with some black beans and green olives chopped up on a delissio pizza yesterday. I could not finish two pieces. It was quite delicious. Today for breakfast, I had my usual beans, spinach, shredded cheese with a handful of bran sticks and taco seasoning. A small dollop of queso as well. Very small portions of each. I added some sliced green olives to that as well. It was quite delicious.

I am planning to do some outdoor walking as well to pick up burgers I get at a fast food place. Snack size burger without anything on them. I add my own toppings. Thinking of taking the beef for extra protein during meals and using the buns for making my own pizza, just need pizza sauce. The walking will give about 90 mins there and back. I also plan to use my elliptical. I ordered a tiltable mini table that allows me to pedal while I do things on the computer which is quite nice. Yesterday I pedalled 90 mins while making a few dollars on my surveys. Really nice benefit of money and keep legs and joints flexible.

I'm getting ready to go camping at a lake this week. Tent right on the water, long walk with the dog several times daily, playing games, swimming and then lounging around and reading.

Iwrite, thx for reminding me about the garden. I havent been gardening at all this year, and dh has just been trying to stay on top of the perennial beds. I want to put some spring things in. & my irises are straggly. Way overdue for division... I will put it in the planner for that following week.

First weekend of I/L cycle so I have energy and interest to cook/bake. Last night we did a big pan of spinach/artichoke/white bean/mushroom enchiladas for dinner, so we have a few nights of those. Today I made:

shredded red cabbage mexican slaw, more pickled red onions, some blueberry compote (was tired of random quarter full bags of frozen berries in my freezer), my favorite pumpkin seed granola (that + almond milk and maybe a small cube of cheese in the mornings really works and covers off the Ibrance fat requirement), and i just pulled an apple cake out of the oven (its apple season, yo!)

I also picked up some broccoli this morning as I found a fab soup recipe for lunch that I want to try when the weather cools off from Wednesday. Otherwise it is OH's turn to cook rest of the week!

Moth - that camping trip sounds so nice and relaxing.

Mara - I make pizza sauce by draining a can of crushed tomatoes in a sieve for a half hour, then blend with a stick blender the tomatoes + dried basil + little bit of sugar (to taste) + a few crushed red pepper flakes (optional) + salt (to taste). No need to cook it - it cook when it bakes. I freeze what I don't use in containers people use for homemade baby food (found them at TK Maxx) - so I can just pull out a few cubes from a bag when I want to make pizza, rather than waste anything.

ladies I like reading your posts here, they are full of energy and inspirational.

I made quinoa with broccoli and chickpeas, some drops of olive oil and lemon juice and some feta cheese. Easy version: steaming broccoli and boiled chickpeas (vs. grilled), but still the taste is great.

Here on top of heat, air quality has been poor, so I avoided outdoor activities, only couple of times, felt my nose burning. Hopefully today the air will be better as I see the sky is blue now, so I’ll back in track of 30 minutes walking.

    Have a nice weekend everyone..

OK, I have added green olives to my beans, cheese, spinach and queso with branflakes. I added a small handful of tortilla chips as well. Each food is a tiny portion and today I used shredded mozzerella cheese. Get tons of fiber and nutrients, bit of protein and it tastes good. Better than eating cereal and my blood sugar dropping.

I have also decided the best indoor cardio type exercise besides the elliptical is the 5 mins at a time on the treadmill. I have such a hard time thinking of doing an hour all at once and that makes it less likely i that I will do it. I can track my time on the treadmill by not removing the key and I can do 5 mins, pick a small chore like loading the washer, vacuuming and dusting my floor and go back to another 5 mins. I am so much more productive. I can also earn a few dollars on the computer in between walks and even when I put a movie on. I will use my elliptical while watching TV or a movie. I got an adjustable mini bed table to use the laptop on so I can keep moving.

So the last couple of days have been active. Pedalled the cubii for four hours yesterday throughout the day. Today, walked to and from chemo. Then decided to pick up burgers. The walk home was tough but I made it. Almost 3 hours of walking. I was really tired but I push myself.

Yesterday I helped my friend down the street unload a pallet of wine (he started his own wine company). No problems with my back and I was huffing less than his tiny-sized wife who does a ton of yoga.

I rode the bike for a half hour too, but wasn't feeling it, so kept it short.

I'm just stopping in for a high-five or a merit badge. In spite of a new diagnosis of adrenal insufficiency and having been in the OR two days ago for my biliary stent exchange, yesterday and today I ... took a walk! They were not fast or long, but I was out there moving.

So, yeah, i-beat-it, I'm right there with you. High-five! There is a line between enough to energize myself a little bit, and just making myself more tired, and I have to really tune into my body to know where the line is. Have you found that to be so for yourself?

    Shetland - huge high five!!

I tried paddle boarding this morning and it was fun! I kayak with a couple of ladies on Friday mornings. I have a cheap, inflatable kayak. This morning it sank when I launched it. I got out before I got wet. It had gotten a puncture. One of the friends had a paddle board in her truck and said I should try it instead of going home. It was really nice. And there were otters everywhere frolicking with us

Damn lehrski - that sounds awesome! Well, the otters and paddleboarding, not necessarily the sinking kayak.

I see folks paddleboarding on the river here and some friends did a short hour and a half class a few weeks ago and said it was great fun. Maybe Ill give that a try.

Last few nights I've gotten off my butt and gone for a walk in the evenings, even though its been really windy here. I may ride the bike today, its my fatigue time in the cycle. Sometimes you just have to make a deal with yourself to start and get moving and it usually gets easier from there!
