Kitty, I am sorry to hear you had to have the talk with Beck as well, hard to talk about these things with family too, I am thinking of you and sending love to you and your family as well. I put another picture that you made in case the link from your picture did not load. Beautiful view.

rk2020, my cats are pretty spoiled, they enjoyed their cat food smoothies. I will say, that magic bullet is well cleaned and sprayed so it does not pick up the cat food odour. I must remember to combine their wet food with some of my tinned meat as well, stretches them both and they can eat normal or smoothie in between tiny dry snacks.

I don't know what I want to do, may just take the bus down to the grocery store, pick extra english muffins. Take a couple laps around the store for extra steps. Still got PT to do as well, admit that I have not been as dedicated but I should be since I stumbled a bit on the last walk to the bus stop. I did not fall or even come close to fall which was good.

Foodwise, I am tiring of eggs so I may hide remaining eggs in omelettes made from pancake mix, put cheese in there as well, slice it up and mix ranch and chicken seasoning, I realized I could put all in the sandwich maker and just move the middle plate so it could accomodate more. I will let you know if it works for me.

Kittykat— My good thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Gentle hug from here.

The picture came through. Maybe you can get a picture of a kangaroo. That would be neat. I have birds, squirrels, cats, dogs, an occasional deer, and an occasional turtle come thru my yard. Oh, and I saw a rabbit the other day— been a while since I have seen one of them. I have a trash barrel outside, and the other night I heard the lid rattling. I did not look out, but the next morning I threw some trash in the barrel and noticed that it had been gone thru— the bags were torn into. So who knows what night creature was foraging for food.

I also thought of using some of the black bean mixture to put on english muffins, put cheese and olives and have a quasi pizza out of that, cheaper and probably taste better.

I added two eggs, shredded cheese and pancake mix in, enough to make it a thick consistency, put it in the sandwhich maker till fully cooked, cut it up, was a thick sort of thing. I could have gone either way, sweet using the maple syrup OR savoury with salt and what evver I put on top, I chose savoury, used salt and a drizzlle of ranch dressing and it tastes good, buttery since the pancake mix is the buttermilk powder sort. I suppose at that rate with how it comes out, could make a sort of cake for a decadent dessert, who knows.

Last edit I promise, realized that I can deodorize my garbage bags with not just the daking soda mixed with used tea grains and before I drain the rinse cycle, put in an empty spray bottle to fill with the vinegar and fabric softener and make them smell good. Works well since the garbage is not needing fresh water. I am just obsessed with not having any stink in my garbage, I am a weirdo but don't want animals to tear apart my bag.

Thanks Candy, it helps to have something nice to look at when you're stuck in hospital, it's nice to sit on the windowsill and look out. Thanks everyone for your well wishes and I hope you're all doing as well

    rk2020,

I appreciate what you shared in your "rant" and consider it important information re the unfortunate medical practice problems we often face. Self-advocacy and paying attention to details is essential. Naming the problem is also important. As you say "every profession has mediocre employees", but I also see the problem as "failure of case management". When I need to speak up, I've started to talk about needing to be "my own case manager" as it hits closer to the problem. The Team Approach to care delivery often makes it unclear who exactly has responsibility for individual patient case management, thus the easy "shrug off" or the frequent wave of the hand with "you'll probably be OK". Where was the oncology pharmacist in your situation? My husband recently had somewhat complicated cataract surgery requiring a specialist; this doctor explained up front he does not co-manage; I thought that was telling.

@weninwi Saying that we need to be our own case manager hit the mail on the head! Especially if you are like me and have to go to multiple facilities for scans, doctor/infusion and hospital procedures when their systems don’t speak well with one another. Now I’ve added a second opinion/hospital to the mix. Decades of being a project manager have given me solid skills to help me through. Lol.

Rk, what a story. What happens to those people who can’t advocate for themselves???

Kittykat, there are no words, except, “I’m so sorry.” I wish we could all gather around you right now and surround you with love and gentle hugs.

Hi to all in the living room.

If anyone wants a distraction and enjoyed the pomp of KIng Charles coronation, today was trooping the colour; to celbrate the kings official birthday. Lots of precision marching and music. The highlights are available on the BBC here in the UK.

Gentle hugs to KIttykat and everyone in Mels lounge, I wish the best weekend for you.

I’ve been reading all everyone is going thru and evolving each new day. It hurts my heart to hear what each one  deals with each day.
@rk2020 rant away about advocating for yourself when lack of concern and sometimes complete incompetence by some medical staff, when it comes to, IV sticks, side effect issues, sometimes even a bully attitude towards you, acting like they know better. I’ve gotten to the point where i will only let one lab tech do my bloodwork. She’s the lab manager and mature enough to know some of the younger new out of school techs who don’t care that I have very small veins in my right arm and explode and collapse if they don’t find the right vein to stick. One time I had 3 different techs stick me 6 times before the all realized the need to use a finer needle and allow a more experienced one to do it, who knows to warm my arm first.

@Kittykat, my heart is just aching and I feel you. 💗💓. I am so sorry what you are going thru. This horrible MBC takes everything. Praying you are not in pain and have loving vibrations surrounding you.

@Mara51506 You are not a “weirdo”. 😊And even if you are, you’re our little weirdo.🥰everyone here in the living room loves you sweetheart🤗♥️🩵

@micmel, I want to Hug you right now. ((((((💙))))))

    @cookie54 …..same ((((((💗))))))

    @candy-678 …same ((((((🩵))))))

And everyone else, I didn’t get to know yet, here…same ((((((🤗💙🩵💗))))))

Kittykat, Words are never enough to cover the deepest sorrow for what this damn disease has done to you. I wish you peace and sending prayers for you and your family. The view is so beautiful from your room. I hope it brings you a roo or two for a visit.

Sasiesservent, If you are reading, sending love and comforting thoughts to you.

rk2020, Now that is how to take charge of your care. It really is medical mismanagement at minimum. I wonder how some of these people keep their jobs and how many patients suffer injury from their callous attitude.

@kittykat9876 My heart hurts for you. I'm glad you were able to have a talk with Beck and I'm sorry to hear you are back in the hospital. You have a lovely view and I hope you feel the support from me and everyone else here.

@rk2020 You are so right about needing to be your own advocate. I am a nurse and that kind of thing drives me bonkers because it's clearly a safety check she was passing off and that's not okay, especially in a procedural area. You're right, every profession has to deal with the mediocre. The lanai and the tiki bar music sounds like a fantastic way to recover.

Trying not to feel too disappointed. I have barely heard from my friend today. Her husband's family lives here and they are staying with them. Apparently her youngest, who is 18 months, isn't sleeping unless she is physically touching my friend and it was a rough night so I don't know what the plan is now. She said she'd text me but that was at noon and it's a little after 3. My dad isn't feeling well so if I don't hear from her I am going to take some of these strawberries over to my folks place and make strawberry shortcakes. I understand (as best I can being a single person) that kids often derail the best of plans. If it doesn't work out today I am going to try and catch up with her Monday before they head back.

Kitty my heart just hurts for you. I thinking of you and your family and firmly in your pocket. Giving you huge gentle hugs. The picture you posted is so pretty and peaceful.

I, too, am thinking of and so worried about Pat (Sadiesservant). Gosh I wish someone had heard from her to update us.

There are so many and so many names/situations that I am getting confused as to which situation goes with which person so please forgive me for not naming each one, but know I am here and always with each of you. For those that want them, I will always have warm chocolate chip cookies and hugs available.

I wish you all peace, pain free days, and all the love you each deserve. I also very much wish this room existed in real life because you are the kindest, most gentle, most loving, most giving, most accepting group I have ever known.

@emac877 I sure hope you get to see your friend. Most of my friends live more than 1000 miles away and sometimes I don’t think they understand how important it is to see me when they are in town. I may be too sick or worse by the time they are in the area again.
@mkestrel - Keep posting the therapy pictures. It does wonders for my soul. ❤️

Good night all. May we all have happy dreams and sound sleep.

It's all good. I think it was a miscommunication. I had it down for today and she forgot she had told me that and planned for Monday instead. She has some meetings on Monday and I can offer a quiet place for that and we'll hang out in between and go to a nice lunch somewhere. It all works out. Dad is feeling better, as best I can tell. He's got that classic Irish stoicism running deep so he doesn't always say everything either.

To my amazement I got a call tonight from my MO just letting me know the results of my genetic testing. I was stunned he'd call me on a Saturday evening. In any case, I don't have the ESR1 mutation but I did have the PIK3 mutation so I guess I have some reading to do on that.

    Sleep well everyone

Emac, I am happy you heard from your friend finally, that always feels better.

Mel, still hugging you as long as you need it.

Still thinking about Kitty as well, sending warm thoughts her way.

I am crazy but I am washing my bedding in the bathtub. I hate doing it but I hate the creepy shed out back too. I already did a thorough clean of tub and just have to dump the blankets in and use my wand washer. I usually take longer as I tire out along the way but I have set a 1200 goal. I have also got the big spinner as well, longest part will be my wee dryer but that is fine. If I get fed up, back out to the shed I guess.

Edited to add, got all washable blankets in tub and soaking for a few minutes, will do the fabric softener and vinegar mix. Use the fabric softener for the smell and vinegar keeps it from getting coated in soap. Three cycles, wash rinse and set up larger spinner, leave the others in tub until I can spin them. The cat fur will be horrifying in the lint collector in the dryer.

In between washing cycles, planning to make my bean pizza, ground beans, wheat bran for texture and cover in cheese, should be good.

Mara - I know exactly what you mean with fur in the lint collector! With 3 goldens, it’s especially bad in the winter. The flannel sheets I use are like fur trappers. It’s not quite as bad in warmer weather as our sheets are percale and the fur doesn’t stick. Now the floors are another thing. Always collections of fur bunnies. Thankfully my hubs is great with the vacuum😂

Sending hugs, especially to all those struggling right now. May peace and comfort find their way into your lives❤️

Goldens, I have a wee circular lint collector. My first Panda dryer died due to not using a filter on it so on this one I have filters. I also use socks inside the plastic part then put the other plastic disc and two paper filters. No matter how much fur or dust, nothing gets through the socks and they don't impede drying function. Plus side today is that the blankets are take very little time to actually dry thanks to the 3200 rpm spinner. Thanks to the larger spinner and speed, blankets are all getting done quicker, just need some drano to clear out soap and cat hair.

Good morning everyone. Happy Father's Day to your sweet DH.

It's a beautiful day after stormy weather. A crow is bathing n the large food bowl I put outside to feed raccoons and possums. The bird of paradise bush, bottle brush and hibiscus all look perky. With this early heat I have to water in the a.m. and again p.m. Forgot the GD's pumpkin patch, it really withers in this FLA heat so I need to stay on that. It has a huge pumpkin growing and the patch covers a large area. I cleaned the bird feeders out good and refilled so the squirrels will enjoy them. lol. A lovely thing happened before the storms at the feeder. A female cardinal was fluffing her feathers in the crepe myrtle tree (right outside my bedroom window). A male went to the feeder and bought her seed repeatedly. They brushed their beaks together and made delightful sounds. Ahh, it was grand to see such love.

Have a wonderful pain free lovely day sweet ladies.

I'm glad you checked in Mae. I thought of you when I saw on the news that heat wave in Texas and all the storms to the east. Those temperatures are unbelievable! I haven't seen heat like that since I lived in Arizona and I've been told Texas is much more humid than Arizona so that's worse. Stay cool.

Also thinking of you all on the East Coast and in Florida with the storms. I hope everyone is safe. It's oddly cool here. It's only going to get to 68 degrees today and tomorrow will have thunderstorms with a high of 54! I'm sure the heat is coming back in July but this has been a weird year so far.

emac, it’s definitely hot but fortunately I’m in west Texas, which is dry and although we have no AC in the cabin yet, I do have it in the bar. If it gets too bad, I’ll hide out there and make frozen margaritas.

Good morning everyone I have an MRI this morning, hopefully the swelling on my brain has subsided so I'll be eligible for the trial if I need to. Happy Fathers day to all you Dads up there, I hope it's a fantastic
