Booboo, two words: dose reduction. At least worth asking if that would help.

she has a very good point there. You gotta speak up to your MO. We aren't supposed to just bare it. Don't know how you're coping. I hope you're drinking and keeping good fluids I use even though I know you're dizzy. Any reglan for likE motion sickness helped me tremendously when I was having bouts of nausea and dizziness. Maybe everyother treatment you should have. I'm sorry about a abraxane and the hair loss issue. I went through it with that. I just gave up and wore little hats all the time. Cotton hats. I couldn't wear the wig. It drove me crazy. I just want you to feel better. Someone needs to give you a break From this chemo. I'm thinking about you..

Mel, they will get here and then I can model them for you. No worries. Yes people can be strong enough when needed but it can be hard too. Good for you moving those boxes.

I honestly think I've sewn over 200. My Dh made a beautiful one for me last night that is reversible. (Show off lol). It's beautiful I love it. We make each other masks. I adore him and the machine. It's a nice combo that he enjoys sewing as well as I do now. Because he taught me what little I know. Which is branching out, going to try to do tote bags at some point. Gonna learn what I can.

Mara~ I think your apt is adorable. I could totally Iive in that apartment by myself and my kitties. No one to piss me off. Lol. Hugs my friend

Thanks Mel, I am starting the purge of things I no longer want. That is my first step. Then figure out where to go from there. I honestly think just some nice storage for the side of the living room with doors or drawers would be good. Not much to do about the bathroom, it houses the laundry and gives me a workout when I remove the washer and spinner from the tub to shower. Bedroom is OK too. Just need to purge the closet and clothes so they will fit in two dressers. Looking forward to it. My kitchen is not actually that bad either. Just need to organize the cupboards I think.

I am going to have lunch and go pick up a new pair of walking sneakers. My other ones are angling inward and would not be comfortable. Don't really need to wear my running shoes (those are for the treadmill). Slept better as well which was nice.

Mel, I also think it is great that you and DH are branching out and that he likes sewing as much as you do. Great when couples get enjoyment together.

Ok, am I doing something wrong? Let me explain. I want to buy a can of Lysol disinfecting spray-- not for Covid, but for regular use. I spray my trash can and the cat litter box. Just 1 freaking can. So... cannot get it with Walmart curbside groceries, not in stock. Cannot run from store to store in my town looking for it because I do not want to be in the stores, duh. I tried online Walmart for delivery- none. So I looked on Amazon. OH MY GOSH They have it but it is $25 a can--- usually around $8 a can in the stores. Plus shipping. Why do people shop Amazon???????? I looked one time, years ago, for a brand of dry cat food my cat loved and I could not get in my local store anymore---- 4 times higher, was $4 in store and $16 at Amazon. Am I doing something wrong when looking on Amazon???? Do people really pay so much more for items???? Any ideas for getting 1 can of Lysol? (1 can will last me 4 or 5 months)

Lysol has been out of stock here since late February. Diluted bleach (with water) in a clean spray bottle might be your best bet. The enzyme odor sprays are also avail at pet supply shops. But Lysol, nope :(

Thanks moth. I need to call local pet supply store for ideas on something safe to spray. Just wondered about Amazon shopping. I know they are a favorite place for some, but good grief. People are willing to pay wwaayy more for stuff thru Amazon? I have never bought from them and won't with those prices.

So... to spray trash can for germies--- diluted bleach? I also like to spritz my keys, purse, shoes when getting home from somewhere. What all can you spray bleach on? Would it be safe for leather, fabrics, keys, etc? Sounds silly, but I do not know. I always reached for the Lysol can.

  • moth
    moth Member Posts: 3,293

No, bleach won't be safe on fabric or leather! I wipe keys and phone etc with alcohol prep wipes.

I buy from Amazon all the time lol. I have Amazon prime & have boxes arriving almost every day. But some things are being price gouged right now so you have to know what you're buying

    candy-678 Member Posts: 4,168

Moth- Don't know if I can get alcohol wipes. Cannot get disinfecting wipes at the store either. I know with schools starting and Covid and cold/flu season around the corner these items are hard to get. But come on we are 6 months into this. Can't they make more of this stuff. And limit the purchasing. I ask the Dollar store about Lysol a couple of weeks ago-- the lady said she had a shipment and someone came in a bought a case!!!! All I want is 1 can.

  • candy-678
    candy-678 Member Posts: 4,168

Well the cat food before was not price gouged--- and still 4 times higher on Amazon.

    moth Member Posts: 3,293

The alcohol prep pads are the same they use before an injection. I've not had problems getting those..Pharmacies stock them for insulin dependent diabetics. You can also use rubbing alcohol from a bottle on a cotton pad.

Candy, sorry to hear it is so tough to get disinfecting spray. Stores should be limiting what people get. Around here for now, there have been alcohol, hand sanitizer and alcohol spray.

Mel, the masks arrived. I did as promised and took some photos to show you.

Hi Candy, sometimes it's a bulk purchase on Amazon so it looks as though their charging more. I normally purchase my tea from Amazon and get six boxes at once.

I will call the pet store and ask what is safe to use around pets. Also I will try to get the rubbing alcohol to use on purse, shoes?, and keys. And diluted bleach for trash cans. Crazy.

mara- cannot see too much of face. LOL. But nice to put some face to the name.

Simone- From what I could see on Amazon it was pack of 3 cans of Lysol, but divided out it was still $25 a can. And that cat food I mentioned was one 4# bag for $16.

Candy - have you considered using chewy.com for cat supplies delivered to your door? I pre-order from there delivered to my parents when we are visiting and they stock all sorts of stuff, including my cats' favorite silvervine/catnip blend (which we can't get here). They seem to have quite a range of litter box deodorizers too, you could probably just repurpose for the trash can.

OH had to take girl kitty on the bus to the vet today - infected nail bed. She bitched the whole way there and, when it started to rain while they stood outside waiting for their appointment, he made sure she got the bulk of the umbrella over her carrier. Shot of antibiotics and a shot of anti-inflammatory and she has much more pep than this morning!

Met up with a friend who live nearby last night for drinks at a pub along the river and it was so nice to chat to someone else. Sat outside and socially distanced for about four hours as I hadn't seen him since Christmas - a cooler evening but there were some nearby thunderstorms. Next week I have to go in to the office to pick something up and have lunch with another friend, so I think people are getting out and about slowly and surely. Let's see what happens when the weather changes.

Mara, It's nice to see you, even behind the masks! They're very pretty!!

Sondra, Glad your kitty is better. Also nice that you caught up with your friend and enjoyed the evening at the pub. I've met a few friends at patio restaurants lately and it's definitely a treat to do that. I've had a small voice in the back of my head questioning whether I should or not, but I did. My area has come off the high case designation but I know that can always return.

Booboo, Sorry your side effects are so severe. We each respond differently and MOs must know that. You have put up with the misery for weeks now and deserve some relief. 🌺

Candy, that stinks that you can't get Lysol for pickup from Walmart. Would it be possible to make some phone calls to local stores to ask whether they have any? Maybe mentioning that you have health issues and can't be in and out too much . . . They might even tell you when they'll be getting some and you could request pick up from your car?

Quiet week for me. I try to walk a few miles a day and we have a week of mild (70s and low80s) weather coming up. Perfect.

We had scheduled a bucket list cruise for DH in December and it's now been officially cancelled. Europe doesn't want American tourists right now and I guess the cruise company isn't optimistic for the rest of this year. He wanted to do a Christmas Markets cruise along the Rhine River in Germany. A lot of towns have them and they're popular with locals and tourists: food, drink, and decorative goods for sale. So we rescheduled for 2021 and just hope my health holds up!?

Rosie, I was on some company's European river cruise mailing list for a while and I enjoyed looking through the catalogues. They looked fun. Christmas would have been so nice. Germany pulls out the stops for the Christmas markets and they have the fancy toy makers too... Hopefully it will all come together in 2021.

Candy-678: hubby has been able to buy Lysol spray from Walmart (1 can) when he is there early in the morning. My local Walmart said they are getting Lysol spray but that it sells out quickly. I know that isn’t much help but wanted to let you know we are seeing LIMITED cans on the shelf (and Walmart is limiting how many you can purchase)

Reference Amazon, the price gouging that is so prevalent now on certain items wasn’t a thing before CoVid but it sure does exist now. Wow are people charging a lot for paper products and cleaning supplies.

Reference cleaning items, I bought myself a UV-C light box for Christmas knowing I would be more susceptible to flu and such due to treatments. Had no idea CoVid was coming. I put my cash in the box and run a cycle (about 45 seconds). I do the same for debit card, keys, sunglasses, cell phone. Maybe something like that would be helpful? (HoMedics UV-C cleaner)

Went to Sam’s this morning. When you walked in the door, there was a large display of hand sanitizers and face masks. So some stuff is becoming more available. Hope toilet paper and paper towels follow suit!

Hope you will start to find what you need locally, too. Sure miss the days where you just hopped in the car and bought what you needed from the store

Thanks, all, for your support through yet another chemo disaster. I contacted my wonderful MO first thing on Monday (yesterday), and she said no more Gemzar. I agreed to go back on Abraxane, if necessary. I setup a call to discuss next steps. I will go back on Abraxane if there are no other choices, but I hate to lose my hair yet again. So I’m going to ask her if there are any other alternatives. I think the problem is that I have extensive mets throughout my body, and I’m guessing there are only so many drugs out there that penetrate bones. Anyway, she’s giving me a few weeks to recover. I’m glad because I’m still dizzy, and it may take another few days before it stops. It really is awful. I can’t do anything (laundry, cooking, etc.). I also don’t want to eat because the dizziness makes me nauseous. So I’ve lost a bit of weight (there’s the silver lining).

Anyway, thanks again. Mara, you are adorable. Love your hair.

BooBoo1– I hadn’t logged in the last few days so I missed your post until just now.

Very sorry to read about QOL issues with Gemzar. Really hope the dizziness resolves quickly so you can start to feel better.

Virtual hugs to you. Keeping you in my thoughts, hoping your MO finds something that kicks BC to the curb while still letting you enjoy each day.

    Hope you feel better, soon

    Morning all.

Off to get repeat CBC for ANC check, port flush and Lupron. Not much else scheduled for today.

Sondra- I will have to check chewy.com and price compare. We have a Pets Supply Plus in my town. I order cat food online and do curbside pick up (like my groceries). I can call them and ask about cleaners/deodorizers for the litter pan. Glad your kitty is better today.

Rosie- Good suggestion. I hate to bother the store staff, but I could explain my health situation and ask if they would let me purchase with cash and them coming out to my car with the product.

Dodgers- Yes we was spoiled when we could just go to a store and buy what we wanted/needed.

I will check in later today.

candy......in your pocket for your appt. I’ll be quiet. I hate the smell of port flushes. Brings back bad memories for me. The chemical sinus smell of the AC chemo. What we’ve all been through. My gosh. How strong we each are.

booboo - I hope the chemo break is a good healing and recovery time for you. Not sure if it was on this thread that I said it already or if I'm imagining that I said it, but if it doesn't go away, ask Dr if it cd be BPPV....benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. It can take 1-2 mos to clear on its own but specially trained physios can cure it.

    Hugs
