I had to get photos June 2019 for my residence permit and they are a HOT MESS. I felt like crap and really didn't care what I looked like and it was a warm, humid day when I took them during lunch break. Thankfully I don't have to get it out too often but there is a definite lack of life behind the eyes that is a little frightening to see.

I'm not a big makeup person either, but the benefit of masks is that you can just whack on some mascara and go. I wouldn't want to put on foundation at all and risk maskne. Let's face it though, nowhere to go requiring mascara and it dries out my eyes and irritates my contacts!

Mara - you've got super cute wigs so I cant imagine why you would go without :)

Candy - Runor is talking sense in that post. I know sometimes it would be more joyful to have someone else reach out to you first, but what if your friend is thinking the same thing? Make her day and give her a ring first and see what happens :) And if she doesn't respond right away give her a few days too.

    Runor,

You have no idea how true your words are (license pics). You should see the one I have in FL when we moved here. I have never looked so bad in a picture. Granted, I am not photogenic, but this is beyond terrorist. I look like an alien! Anyway, good to see you here (always).

Thanks Runor and Sondra. I will text that old friend again in a month or so. She has her own life- husband, grandkids, her job (retired but still working part time). The interests we shared long ago are not the same now. We have both moved on with our lives. I will touch base with her again, but I cannot see us resuming too much of a friendship now. Esp. with Covid. Just the way it is.

Today is another quiet one for me. I am going to read. And maybe walk the treadmill-- not touched it since Saturday. Sunny here and in the 50's. Nice to see the sun coming thru the windows, even if too chilly to open them.

    Hoping all are doing ok.

Tanya, what a lovely photo of your family. Congratulations to your daughter and may their love and marriage endure.

I'm not due for a license renewed yet, but DH got his yesterday. He looks like a criminal in a police line-up. Lol.

Hoping all struggling are feeling better and yay for all good news!

A couple visitors to our yard yesterday. Eating our neighbor's landscaping. They won't be pleased.

    Bliss,

Love the picture. Deer are so calming. When I look at them, I can help but smile. They seem like such gentle creatures. Thanks for sharing it.

OK, here's my Driver License story. The license before this one was renewed in 2008. I had just finished chemo and was wearing a wig (which I really liked). I asked the woman behind the counter what I should put for my hair color if I were bald. She wasn't amused - I thought it was hilarious. Sigh...

Fast forward 10 years to my next renewal. I decided to go ahead with the "Real ID". Kind of a pain because you have to take in all sorts of extra documentation, which I did. Made an appointment at the DMV, made sure my hair and makeup looked nice (I don't wear a lot of makeup), jumped through all the hoops and everything was fine - until I got to the last desk and noticed that my name was not correctly written out. My last name is hyphenated, but my old license just ran them both together. I pointed this out to the man behind the counter and he said, "No problem, I'll fix it".

So, when my license arrived in the mail, it had the incorrect name. Made another appointment at the DMV, went in thinking that they would use the old (most recent) photo. No such luck and my hair and makeup weren't as nice as the time before. Oh well... The good news was that everyone there was actually helpful and cheerful. I went in with my husband a few months later to get his "Real ID" license and it was super easy and again people were helpful and cheerful.

Glad I won't have to do again this for a long time, though.

Loving all the wildlife Mae and Bliss, that is great.

Candy, glad to hear you will contact the friend.

I did not do anything except surveys and sit around today. Indulged in a lazier day and that was fine by me. It snowed and is windy and I am just not interested. Did not feel like exercising today so took a well deserved day off.

Unfortunately, a warrant offer came to deliver my subpeona. A while back I mentioned that I am to be a witness in a murder trial because some asshat killed someone and threw his bloody clothes in my backyard when I was still living at my condo in 2019 this past January. I just have to testify that I do not know when the clothes got there and did not see might have done it. It was just very creepy to know what they involved not far away. Was supposed to have to testify this year but COVID messed up everything at the courthouse so it is pushed back to February now. I am not so much nervous about being questioned, they will review the statement I gave at the preliminary hearing, it is just the bloody clothes just stresses me out. Oh well, need to put on my big girl pants and do what needs to be done for justice for the victim and his family.

Oh Mara, that's terrible and I'm sorry you have to go through all this. Creepy indeed!

Booboo, they were in the shade and my photo lighting not too good, but they were actually moose; a mama and her youngster. Here's another one of them leaving. The mama has a lame back right leg. She comes around every year with her kids.

Mae, that is cool to see a white donkey. Maybe some kind of omen for good luck?

Bliss, DH and I saw a moose last year in Bew Hampshire, it was awesome.

Mara, yeah that’s creepy, at least you don’t have to point the finger at anyone.

Went to the bigger town today to pick up insulation DH ordered, despite him calling to confirm it arrived, it did not, it hadn’t even been ordered. The guy on the phone was looking at someone else’s order. There goes a whole day, we’ll try to get it in El Paso next week, when I’m there for treatment.

    Relaxing now, we’re spent.

Mae I’ve never seen a white donkey. Beautiful creatures greatly misunderstood.

Bliss I used to watch a tv show northern exposure, and they always had moose come to town and eat everyone’s landscaping. They’re very large.

    Hi Runor!

Mara can you give your testimony over the phone, zoom or something. Bloody clothes is ghastly.

Candy it’s nice to see you here today. I took a quick walk outside and passed a few folks one without mask but we were outside so I think then it doesn’t matter but I was listening to the news today and it said that inside Covid can live in the air for 15-60 minutes after an infected person has left the room. Vaccine can’t get here quick enough.

Mel hope your day went well. I spread out some plants in the backyard which is always back breaking when your back is already broken but I love gardening.

    Take care all

The wildlife pics are really neat. I’ve never seen wild donkeys and have only seen moose from quite a distance. My windows see the typical squirrels and birds, but even birds at the feeders are a nice sight in the winter.

Tanya, That is such a nice family photo. Best wishes to your daughter & her husband.

Candy, I know what you mean about some old friendships being hard to maintain, especially when the daily contact isn’t there anymore.

Mara, You definitely deserve a day of rest after so much walking and the stress of the bad day. The court summons sounds stressful too. Glad you aren’t going to have to recount anything since you didn’t see anything. I’ve been called for jury duty a couple times. Although I wasn’t ever put on a jury, I was in the jury box during the introduction of a few cases and found it unsettling to hear the charges and see the defendants sitting there. One case settled before the jury selection and the other I luckily was dismissed. Our big city has no shortage of crime.

Mel, Have fun getting your holiday fabrics! I wear your masks all the time, they’re so well made and cute too.

We had snow on the ground this morning, pretty, but cold and windy. Supposed to be back to 60 by Thursday. I decided to try physical therapy for my wonky shoulder. I hardly notice it some days, until I try to lift or reach for things, but night time seems to heighten the pain. I’m hoping the pt doesn’t make anything worse. Scan coming up on Friday. I’ll have to call for results because I don’t see MO until the 30th, and that’s a long time to wait.

    Hi to everyone reading 😊

Rosie ~Thank you... I’m so glad you wear them a lot and like them. That makes me happy. My nurses were asking today were the holiday ones were. So I got the hint. And went and got a few different fabrics. I’ll start to process snowflakes tomorrow. Just take my time and get them done. I have a lot of fabric for spring already thanks to Lynne 50’s..... I enjoy making them. So the holiday ones are on the way. I have thanksgiving harvest type ones now. Only one pattern for that. It seems it goes right from Halloween to Christmas anymore.

    Morning all.

Rosie- In your pocket for Friday scans. I will be asking for a report on Monday, LOL.

Today I have to go get my monthly blood draw-- check that white count, liver enzymes, calcium level, etc. I wish I didn't have to get out in the crowd, and I guess I could tell MO nurse that I skipped this month due to Covid concerns. But next month will be no better. So might as well get everything checked. Tired of messing with health stuff all the time. And tired of Covid.

Mel- I wear your masks all the time.

Wow Mara a murder, bloody clothes tossed out. Sounds like a book or movie. Creepy.

Candy, yes it was creepy finding the bloody clothes. I thought it was a skunk at first until I looked closer. I even had my mother toddle out to the kitchen to ask if I was seeing what I thought I saw. Anyway, she would have to have testified as well BUT she passed away.

Having slept on it, it really should not be a problem because I am simply going to answer what I need to. I am a small part of the puzzle in the case and my time in it will be small. My part to get justice for the victim.

I have to go to the store today, it did snow so I might put small cleats on my shoes in case it is slippery. Have not been out in the snow and doubt anything has been salted or sanded.

    Good afternoon all,

Chilly morning here. Not much going on, just gonna look at my gardening efforts from yesterday. I have a blister on my hand from the pitchfork or shovel so, alas no digging today.

I didn't get my flu shot yet. Did everyone else get one already? I have an appt. Tuesday for zometa infusion I'll ask about the shot then.

Candy I hope your blood draw is painless and uneventful. I too hate venturing out for these medical appts. especially with covid rising.

Rosie in your pocket for Friday scans. Ill try to find that fancy popcorn that you all wrote about last time from Chicago I think.

Tanya- I got my flu shot Oct 5 at my PCP appointment. I usually get the flu shot the 1st or 2nd week of Oct. Blood draw went ok. Now for the results. I should hear from MO office today-- message thru patient portal. I really like the portal--- messaging system easy.

  • micmel
    micmel Member Posts: 10,054

I got my shot in October as well. I didn’t want to mess around after getting it. The year before and not getting the flu shot. Hard lesson learned.

Early October flu shot for me

  • sondraf
    sondraf Member Posts: 1,679

First weekend of October for me - essentially the second week they had them available. Unfortunately the receptionist asked if I was in one of the approved categories as I was otherwise "too young". Yes. Yes I am.

Best to get it sooner rather than later, regardless of the calendar - one less virus to worry about this year!

I seem to have run out of steam here again. Probably time to book another long weekend away from work stupidity. So bored of being at home even though I walk at night and ride the bike some days. I'd like to be able to see friends and go to a restaurant again. But with the vaccination programs so so close now, it would be really dumb to risk it once things reopen. Darkest hour is always just before dawn, right?

I had my flu shot already as well!

Today I had a quick brain CT. They needed it as a baseline for the radiation trial as my previous one was from the summer & too old. I feel a bit out of sorts as everything is still sort of hanging - getting into the trial, getting randomized, the results of the lung biopsy, the switch from getting atezolizumab through a trial to getting it through compassionate access..... everything is still unsettled & not finalized. It's my week off chemo. I see my MO on Friday so I might have some more answers then.

    hugs everyone

I've not had a flu shot yet. Should call my pharmacy to get one soon, no pcp as mine retired couple months ago.

Good luck, like Mel things, I hope for you to be more settled down soon.

It was sunny today so I did venture out, can't believe I was not hot in fleece leggings with regular ones overtop and a fleece jacket under my heavier hoodie. I was not cold either. Took a nice leisurely walk over to the grocery store to get some milk, may 25 mins of walking but that was enough. I had a tough time getting myself motivated to want to go but finally thought myself into it. Supposed to be warmer tomorrow so I may visit a shoe store and try to find some heavier duty walk shoes/boots. I have good boots but they are really clunky and I would prefer something closer to my foot, not weighing too much. We will see.
