BevJen and Mara- Sorry you guys had a rough day. Bev hoping for good results of your CT-- when will you hear with the Holiday and weekend? Mara- Pocket duty for your CT on Jan 11.

I have been lounging around the house yesterday and today (Tues and Wed). Tired. 7pm now and getting ready for bed.

    Candy,

I don't know when I'll hear. I see my oncologist on Jan 5, and I told her I was in no rush to hear. So I don't know if she'll release it for posting or not. My tumor markers have been going up, so I'm really not looking forward to results because I don't want to be switching treatments. The devil you know....

Chiming in to say that delays are just draining, sorry you ladies had to deal with such troubles today.

    Glad you’re feeling better Micmel.

Had a pretty good day today. I saw the bloodwork to check for heart damage on MyChart and it looks great, then I got a message that I’m free to resume the oral chemo (but I need a refill, so I’ll start on Monday) and my Herceptin is scheduled for 1/6 but I’ll need an echo after each one until I’m back to a good EF number. After that, DH and I went to pick up the new travel trailer, which arrived at the dealership yesterday and it’s better than the one e had. It’s also less expensive, the 2021 model, came with a back up camera, a murphy loveseat/sleeper, a bigger bathroom, an outside mini fridge and we got better financing through my credit union. Our new payment is $3 less per month with a year less on the term and only 3% interest.

I’ll post a pic tomorrow, DH is looking for camp sites for a quick anniversary getaway.

Mae - good news from the bloodwork. I would think that even if your cancer center normally uses a biosimilar drug, they should order the Herceptin when clearly necessary. I'm looking fiat to pics of the new camper.

Mel - so glad you were only under the weather for a day and are feeling better. I don't understand why they wouldn't test you for COVID-19 due to no fever when they keep telling us there are asymptomatic carriers out there- that should mean no fever. It just doesn't track.

BevJen and Mara, sorry you had complicated data getting treatment. Mara good thinking on the multitasking.. I lived the comment about the 2 ginger ales leading to a quick walk home!

    Candy - yay for stable!

    Waving to everyone else!

My MO appt was uneventful. He thinks tumor markers are a good indicator for me, so we're planning to keep closely watching them and liver function with an eye to cautiously stretch out time between scans, if possible.

I'm really not much of a baker, but I managed to successfully make some cookies (for the first time in YEARS) and banana bread with walnuts and chocolate chips. Woohoo! Just call me Betty Crocker. I'm actually thinking about making yeast bread, again - we made all our bread, for a while, when I was a kid. I don't know what's gotten into me.

Glad your illness turned out to be a short sharp one Mel... always scary when you feel so bad!

Mara- sounds like a bit of a day - is your port a portocath or a Hickman line, if you don’t mind me asking?

Mae delighted you can get out and about and that the meds are sorted. Enjoy your break!

We are pretty much in lockdown over the festive season and all but essential outlets are closed for 3 weeks basically from now. Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to us all!

Signing out for a bit of a break from the boards over the next couple of weeks. Keep well everyone!

now my DS is sick. Fever aches. Headache. That’s it. He’s getting a test right now. I am begging for it to be negative. He lives with us. 💔

    micmel Member Posts: 10,053

well it was Positive, so my son officially has covid. Officially lives with us. They told him to isolate from us and he has to wait ten days. He’s to only use the bathroom designated for him and no other. Thank goodness for more than one bathroom. I’m really freaked out. Poor guy is very upset.

Sorry to hear that Mel! I guess it shows the rise in cases that’s currently happening can affect us all. I hope it’s not too long for him that he’s very sick and that it stops with him at your house.

Oh, Mel, that's surely not the Christmas present that you wanted. I'm so sorry. Perhaps you should retest again, since you had some symptoms. Yours could have been a false negative.

I hope your son recovers quickly and without incident to the rest of you. Thinking good thoughts.

Mel , that really sucks. I hope he has a mild case. I agree that you might need a test. Those symptoms and now a known exposure ...

Rest, don't do anything more than you have to!

Do you guys have a pulse oximeter at home? Good to measure SpO2 since it can drop without people noticing.

    Virtual hugs

Mel- Oh my. I reread your post about when you were sick. Doesn't really sound like Covid, but a stomach bug. But now.... Maybe????? But you got over yours so fast. Not typical with Covid.

But now, you will have to be sooo careful with someone in the household that is positive. I hope your DS has a mild case and you and DH do not get it.

That is one good thing about being alone. I am pretty lonely in my quiet house alone, but limited exposure risk. Of course, on Monday with my long day at the cancer clinic I was exposed to a lot of people. Of course, we all were wearing masks.

nausea, vomiting & diarrhea are also symptoms associated with covid

My cancer agency has a field day with these questions because seriously every cancer pt is answering yes to everything. (we have in person screening at the entrance to the facility). Fatigue? Cough (lung metsers - yup). Fever (hello, cancer fevers). Nausea & vomiting? (hello, chemo pts). Loss of appetite? (yup...) Headache? (I mean that's everyone) They now say : any NEW symptoms on this list that are not explained by your disease or treatments?

Lots of people also don't have a fever or sore throat but are still positive. I think that's what's made containing this disease so tricky. So many symptoms plus so many people with no symptoms at all but spreading it anyway :( The vaccines can't come soon enough.

mel, I'm so sorry about your son. I, too, hope he recovers quickly!

moth, I hear you with the screening questions. I've just been answering "no" to all of them, because they're treatment related. I do check my temp and my O2 sats daily. All remain within my "normal" ranges.

  • candy-678
    candy-678 Member Posts: 4,168

Yep. I just say "No" to the screening questions as they are not NEW. Fatigue, for 3 years now. Aches, duh. But it is funny when they ask if I have been around anyone with Covid--No-- I am sure most have by now. And If I have tested negative in the last 2 weeks--- I have never had a test, yet...

    Mel,

Thinking about you and your family with the latest nightmare you are dealing with. Please know that I will be praying hard for you and your DH to stay safe. I wish you all a good Christmas (the word “Merry” just doesn't seem to fit for 2020) if at all possible. Trust me when I say all of us want to see 2020 in the rear view mirror. Love to you.

Micmel, so sorry your son has covid. It is extra hard to deal with over Christmas, hoping he pulls through quicker and maybe after he is clear, you guys can do something as a post Christmas thing. I know you all have to get through this first, but maybe something to possibly look forward too. I will also pray that you and DH stay safe as well. So sorry

Karen, I have a port o cath for my Herceptin. After the second drug was put in alongside my IV yesterday, the blood return was normal. It was sort of like when hard water clogs something up and vinegar can help to descale and unplug. It was working well.

My brother dropped off cookies and my present so far, lots of food treats, cookies, chocolate etc. Will eat them all but really try to stay with smaller portions as I know I will eat a lot tomorrow at his place. My SIL's family had to cancel their get together as there would be too many people there for our restrictions. We will be fine for Christmas as there will be 5 of us, my niece and her partner are going to go to my brother's today instead so there will be 6 but I don't think that is bad.

Mel - I'm sorry about your DS. Hopefully, it will pass quickly and without incident. I wondered that they would not test you without a fever, when they keep saying people who have it can be asymptomatic. Do what you can to stay safe.

    Merry Christmas to everyone!

we are finding it difficult to keep away and isolate. I mean you can only stay in. One place for so long. We have to place things outside of his door for food and drinks. My DSS wasn't able To make it because of this, DH won't be able to see him again until May break. He's really upset. We are all so upset about that I can see it in his eyes I know it wasn’t planned of course but my ds feels Terrible about catching it. What kind of shit is this anyway ???

These young ones got too lax in my opinion. He's eating, which is good. He hasn't been sleeping all day and he's been drinking water. A lot, I'm hoping that it will be a milder case and will just run the damn course and go away. This is just a strange thing really. Invisible but can knock you out! My bedroom is across from his. I've been wearing a mask to go up the stairs and into my room just to make extra sure. I'm not using that other bathroom at all. But when you're like super sick super sick. You typically don't care too much about eating. So I'm wondering if he caught my bug and got a false positive. Because he's been pretty alert. Who the hell knows

Mel, I'm so sorry to hear about your ds, I really hope he doesn't get any worse. Please be careful of yourself.

I have also had a pretty ordinary Christmas, I couldn't eat the beautiful lunch my daughter made for us, I probably should go back to the ED because I'm having trouble breathing. I'll go home and get some sleep and see if I feel any better.

I truly cannot wait to see the back end of this year, I hope the vaccine is as effective as hoped.

Be as well as you all can and ill catch up with you all very soon🎄🎁

I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas. I love you ladies like real sisters. Afterall, no one understands us like we do each other.

I hope today can put a smile on your face even for a little while.

Blessings and hope for a better 2021 for all of us.

Mel - so sorry your son is positive - that stinks on so many levels. Hope 🎅🏼 brought lots of Lysol. Be extra vigilant so you stay safe!

May all of us have tidings of comfort and joy as we celebrate our different holidays🤗

Thank you Booboo for your words.

    Mel's family in my thoughts.

Kittykat- Not eating, trouble breathing??!! I cannot remember if you said something is going on with your cancer? Or something else? Covid?! I will review your posts. But, please, if you need to go to ER then go. Take care.

I know some said they are taking a break from the Boards for the Holiday, but I will be here today. Nothing going on at my house for Christmas, so I will be checking in here if any want to talk.

Edited--- Kittykat--- I re read your posts. 3 days ago kidney infection and antibiotics given. Why short of breath?! I think you need to go back to ED if you are short of breath. That wouldn't go with a kidney infection.

Hi, ladies. Checking in today. Merry Christmas.

Mel, I’m so sorry about your son and things you can’t do today. I just read something about Vitamin D helping with COVID. Who knows what’s true and what’s not, but it never hurts to make sure you’re taking Vitamin D3. I hope your son feels better soon and that you stay well

    Hugs to all.

I'm sure it isn't covid, we haven't had any community spread for around 8 months in my state, its probably something to do with my medication. I feel a bit better after a nap. I have stopped taking the Affinitor as that can cause shortness of breath. I will call my oncologist in the morning if I don't feel any better.

Mel, how is your son today, I hope he is starting to feel a bit better.

Thanks Candy, at least I got to see my daughter and grandson today, and I spoke to my kids and grandchildren over in the eastern states.

To everyone else here I hope you have the best day you can.
