My Mom who is 86 just got her first dose... the 2nd one is slated for ~ mid/later Feb.

I was amazed how relieving it felt to get her that first dose. It was symbolic of something FINALLY getting a little bit better in this pandemic!! Like the first bit of turning things around is actually happening.

It was easy... a drive-thru in hospital parking lot... safe w no exposure to anyone. She had the Pfizer and it was zero side effect; not even sore arm.

Mel, a hug for your pain. I am sorry you are hurting.

I hope for relief soon to all who need it.

Santabarbarian, that's good to hear your mom was able to get the vaccine without any SEs.

Two nurses at my cancer center got their 2nd doses. I was told they were out for a day with some SEs of achiness, low-grade fever and soreness at the injection site.

Mel, I think your son is smart to want the right one. It’s such a waste to go through crappy dates. I think when the right one comes along, it will hit him like a ton of bricks. Sadly, my daughter married the frog first and then found her prince. I honestly am glad it happened that way because without the shit show husband, we wouldn’t have her husband now, who I adore, and who adores her, and our beautiful grandson.

    Thank you, Bliss.

ha, I didn't last the whole weekend but *almost*! lol, baby steps :) I started watching a Korean rom-com this weekend. Also working on fixing my hip flexor- I pulled it on Friday. Have been doing gentle stretches and did a hip opening yoga class online yesterday & today. I think it's getting better

    waving hi to everyone

I did not do much today. I did some laundry but then got sucked into an offer on my survey site. It was offering 40 dollars usd to reach a certain level in a casino game. I decided to give it a shot and got in a real swing and finished the offer today. Was given 14 days but decided to keep at it when I was on a fast pace. More money in a day than the surveys would be and these dollars help stretch my budget. Since it is US dollars, equals more money for me in Canada.

I also started my new diet today. All the regular foods but measuring how much I am putting on my plate. I admit I am feeling a bit hungrier as I am not used to it. Really want to get back to my normal 175 to 180 weight. We will see if it is sustainable.

    Morning all.

I have been reading along but guess I haven't posted in a couple of days.

Well, it is Monday morning-- 8am here. New week, new possibilities, I like to think and hope.

Lots on here--- Mara, Sondra, tangandchris, moth-- with MO appts this week (that is from my list, correct? or more to add?). I prayed for all of you this morning. All I have medical wise this week is monthly Port flush and Lupron injection tomorrow (Tuesday). Pretty easy, as far as our cancer treatments go. I thank God.

I did my Zoom gaming yesterday evening. One of our group is in college (older student at 30 years old). She was talking about her classes. I do not want to do the college class thing again, but I wish I had more to contribute to the discussion than what I watched on TV the last week. I do watch the news-- various news outlets-- and I mentioned some things in the news that she had not heard yet. But I wish I was out and about doing things, and being with other people. Like I said, not much to say when all I do is be around the house by myself all the time.

I am so glad I have you all here.

Swooping in to say hi. Been finding this winter so long. So very long. People are down. I finally have a February appointment for the mamm that was due in October. Four months late. Not bad. But I grow tense as the time gets closer. The mamms don't bother me, it's that I no longer have that ability to pretend that everything will be alright. Maybe it will be. Maybe it won't. Life can change in the blink of any eye, as we all know. Hugs to all!  ~R~

Runor, in your pocket for the mammogram.

I am in anybody's pocket with appointments this week.

I do have my appointment this week but my CT scan was 3 weeks ago and no calls from the hospital to come in so I am pretty confident nothing new was found. They would not make us wait this long.

Candy, I feel the same as you about being out and about. Best I do is passing people on the street or talking to the guy next door or the two who live above me. Overall most days of the week am on my own which may understand my laundry fixation. Occupies my mind and time as surveys and other little money makers do for me. I playing games, no real money on my part that involve slots, casinos and making some money as well. Today is beautiful and sunny so after breakfast, heading out for a walk. My lower back is sore from too much sitting with bad posture and staying in one place too long, going to keep up with more dusting, wiping stuff off. My place is not dirty per se but it is dusty and I know I need to be better. Continuing to measure my food since I cannot judge by site on my journey to 170 or 180 lbs. Portion control should allow me to walk a little less, like an hour versus 3 or 4. Also allow me to be more in charge of what I eat and still eat everything I love. I have good discipline as my Christmas chocolates have yet to be open, fridge full of cookies to keep fresh etc. We will see if this works. I do not have a scale and unsure if really want one, might just use my clothes as a judge if it is working.

I am also irritated at my country and province's rollout of the vaccine. I really feel that although we needed to order some, I feel more companies should have been tapped to manufacture our own to ensure all the long term care homes were done sooner before all the death. Protection for health care workers at all. I have started doublel masking when out now except at the cancer clinic where I have to wear the mask they give me instead of my own. Wear a three layer regular surgical mask and usually one of mels overtop since they are pretty.

Candy, I'm still running the hospital gamut (waiting on pharmacy now, as biochem analyzer was down for two hours or so earlier, which delayed calcium results which delayed Xgeva etc.). Posted scan results in Ibrance thread that bones and lymph node no change, breast showed 0.7 cm shrinkage since September scans. MO was happy with that, and is referring me to gynae now for the ovary removal surgery booking.

I double masked to my vaccine and it wasn't that bad. I may start doing that more often. Big news today that the South African variant was found dispersed in communities so now they have people going door to door for testing. Not sure what that means for us as we are in the counties under consideration.

Mara, I hear you about the sitting too long. I thought I had got new spine mets or something but I suspect it's from sitting weird on the sofa for too long, reading Internet.

Best wishes to all for a good day in the depths on winter!

Sondra- Woohoo for "no change/ shrinkage" on scans!!!!!!! I have wondered about ovary removal. Could stop the monthly Lupron shots then. But... surgery. Low counts with Ibrance, and Covid situation in the area. How old are you? I am 50. When would menopause be done? Am I on the borderline of nature doing the deed, versus surgical intervention?

I was lucky to have gotten the first Covid vaccine. Yes, lucky. I feel kind of funny getting it already. I have not told but 2 people, and you all, that I got it. But, still, I fear the mutations of the Covid and how the vaccines may not cover the variants, so I still will stay isolated.

I have double masked for a while now---surgical one with Mel's on top.

Sondra, glad to hear about the shrinkage as well, always a good result to get. I think when it comes to the vaccine, this could possibly turn into an extra shot yearly if it keeps mutating similar to the flu shot. I would also tend to believe that being vaccinated against the main one SHOULD keep severe systems away. Would make sense to me.

Candy - I am 43 and BRCA1, which is the additional argument for getting the surgery done (on top of 100% ER+, which apparently is not typical for BRCA+). Its keyhole so they just do a clip here and a clip there and I guess drag them out. Not even an overnight needed in the hospital, home same day. MO is proposing to get it scheduled end of my off week, with a few days off before start of off week and a few days delay of next cycle.

    Thanks everyone!

I'm leaving in a few minutes for MO appt to go over scans from last week. Oddly calm, likely because I have an idea of what im going to hear. Also because I'm getting adapted to this shit already.

I have my questions ready. It's a different doctor since mine isn't going to be there. I'm interested in his take since I'm not completely confident in my current MO.

    ((Hugs)) for everyone

Tangandchris, glad you are going to get more information and in your pocket if you need me.

    Tanya, good to see you!

I must say, I did walk for about an hour today. After two days of sitting on my butt, the walk too and from the grocery store were a slog but I made it and am glad I did it.

Tangandchris, I hope you had a good doctor visit.

    Sondra, that’s great news.

I feel for those who live in the northeast. So much snow. My brother is being pounded right now.

Congrats Sondra, scan results sound good.

I posted this on the dinner thread but thought I’d share here too. I made 3 pizzas today. I made the dough early, prepped toppings in the afternoon and finished this evening to keep the big job manageable. My first deep dish and two thin crusts, all were very tasty.

imageSo far we have about 18 inches on the ground. It’s still snowing. It’s blizzard like out there. But everyone is home and warm and safe.

Tanya, there is still some residual snow from the weekend and we are expecting a couple more centimetres but that is OK. Did not feel too slippery under my feet. It is supposed to be quite sunny tomorrow and Wednesday so that will be nice.

TangandChris, Thinking about you and hoping your MO appt went ok.

    Sondra, Great sounding report! Congrats!

Mel, Wow, that's a lotta snow. I enjoy a big snow as long as I don't have to go out in it. Glad your family is all inside and cozy.

Mae, looks delicious. Homemade pizza is the best.

Tried to attach something I came across on FB but couldn't get it to work. It hit home with me.

It said, Have you ever just said, “I'm fine" when you weren't because some people wouldn't understand?

    Sondra ~ congrats !
Rosie~ everyday. Sometimes I just realize no one wants to Hear about cancer. It’s a downer. I sometimes wish people could live a day in my life and then report back to me.

I have been enjoying a Netflix show called Wentworth. It’s got me hooked. I watched one episode and that’s all it took. I am thrilled because it has 8 seasons. I love having something. Really good to watch. Takes my mind off of everything going on. Big snow storm pounding us. So fr 18 inches we are on deck for 7 or more. Until it stops. Nor’easter. For sure.

Mel, looks like a helluva lot of snow. When we had our snow overnight last Thursday into Friday, it was knee deep when getting into DB van for my routine echo. Yours is much higher. Hopefully it is the light fluffy stuff so it will be easier to clear.

Rosie- Wish you could have sent that quote/pic. I would have posted to my FB friends. So true.
