I finally came up for air today.
I had my Zometa bone infusion AND my Gemzar infusion on Tues (along with the steroid pre-meds), and I was okay on Wed (4th of July), so we went over to a friend's house for dinner and to watch the fireworks display from her balcony...but Thursday, I was WIPED OUT. I spent most of the day in the La-Z-Boy napping.
DD was worried about me b'cuz she had never seen me sleep during the day that much. I was still pretty tired and weak yesterday, Friday, but I'm a bit better today. I was able to go out and run a few errands.
DD (the little hoarder in training) finally cleaned up her room and closet, getting rid of some old clothes she's been hanging on to since high school. I washed and sorted them, catalog'd them, and boxed them up for the St. Vincent De Paul this afternoon. About $250 worth of old/used clothes for which we will take a tax write-off.
Still have some old books to go over and review b4 I bring them to Half-Price Books, and then I'll be done. That will take a real load off my mind. I don't want my DH and DD to have to go thru all that, so the task will give me something to do now that I won't be going anywhere for the next few months.
Being that fatigued REALLY takes the enthusiasm out of you.

Glad you were able to inspire DD to clean out.
I'll send you some rain from NJ. On Thursday, we had "localized flooding" (some roadways became waterways, plus all ponds, lakes, rivers, inlets, and streams were very high).

Lita, it is always inspiring to read your posts. I think I mentioned before that Yosemite is my favorite place on the planet, and I have not been for 30 years. You have inspired me to look into a trip (probably after fire season.) You have also challenged me to stop procrastinating over my binder--I just know when I do it will hit me hard and I tend to not want to face that. My DH keeps telling me I will live a long time still, so he is no help! Neither one of us is good at facing conflict.

After dinner, we're going to Coldstone's. Many local ice cream parlors have free deals today. You will need to download the app on your phone. Baskin Robbins has free ice cream, too, but we prefer Coldstone's.

Hi Lita,
Because of your recommendation, I purchased a National Park Pass for those on Social Security Disability. I went to one of the NPS headquarters and completed the paperwork onsite. I provided a copy of my Social Security Disability letter and Driver's License. I also had my Handicapped Car tag. There was no charge. THANK YOU!

Wow, I missed National Ice Cream Day. Probably just as well, as my weight has been creeping up this past year.
I will look into the National Park Pass for my son and a caretaker. My son needs someone with him at all times.

Just popping in to say hi and to let you know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers. I too, am always amazed at how much you are still doing and living your life to the fullest! That cheesecake looked fantastic, btw! I think I saw it awhile back, but hadn't posted since then. I was a preschool teacher, and one of the preschool moms used to make chocolate cheesecakes every Christmas. I had all three of her kids for two years each, so got to enjoy a lot of them! I'm glad you are still feeling well enough to do the things you love - ie., bake, travel, ice cream : ) Thinking of you. : )

We had manicotti this evening...the real thing, not stuffed shells like last time. It's been hard trying to find the manicotti tubes, so when I saw some at a grocery store I don't usually patronize, I bought a couple boxes.
They turned out absolutely fine, but I was in a bad mood when I made them. My late mother always said you shouldn't make something from scratch if you're in a crappy mood or really depressed because it won't turn out as well. Years ago, when our first Bulldog passed (two days b4 Thanksgiving!!) I made our traditional Thanksgiving Lasagna. We had guests over, and it was the worst Lasagna I've ever made. We really should have either gone out for dinner that year, or gone to Whole Foods and picked up a pre-cooked turkey dinner. Learned my lesson there.
I've been unusually tired (cuz of chemo, no doubt), and my back has been KILLING me...bone and muscle mets. I don't want to take a bunch of drugs right b4 my scan next week, so I've been using gel rubs and Salon Pas patches plus MMJ tinctures and edibles. They only work for so long. I know I've probably been doing too much - trying to clean out closets and sort thru stuff on the bookshelves. Butt has been going numb again these past few days, too. Not a good sign :>(.
I'll have a better picture of how things are shaking out by the end of next week.

No significant increase in uptake values since April's scan, :>).
But why am. I STILL so tired and achy? Can barely move.
After baking one loaf of bread, I'm wiped out. At least the bread turned out well. Changed the ratio of flour.water.yeast, and it came out perfect.
L...gonna take a nap now.

It is perfect. Look at that crumb. Can you share the recipe when you get more vim and vigor?
Total empathy for the tired and achy stuff. I'm certain I don't have it as badly as you do, but I hate having to plan my day around how many times I will be going up and down the stairs.

I just copied and pasted the recipe below...easy peasy.
Walter Sands' Favorite Bread Machine White Bread
1 1/4 to 1 1/3 cups lukewarm water, depending on the time of year - more in the winter, less in the summer
1 heaping tablespoon honey or sugar
1 1/2 teas instant yeast (This is about right…don't use too much or it will collapse)
1/3 cup Baker's Special Dry Milk or 1/2 cup nonfat powdered dry milk granules
2 tablespoons unsalted butter at room temperature
2 teaspoons salt (I only used a scant 1 ½ teas)
4 cups King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
INSTRUCTIONS
1.Place the ingredients in your bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer, (liquids first, then dry ingredients in the middle, sprinkle salt on the periphery, then poke a hole in the mountain of dry flour and sprinkle in the yeast), and program the machine for white or basic bread, or for the dough cycle. Press Start.
2.If you're using the dough cycle, after the cycle is complete, allow the dough to continue to rise in the machine until it's doubled in bulk.
3.Remove the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a 9" x 5" loaf pan. Let it rise until almost doubled.
4.Bake the bread in a preheated 350°F oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool, and offer to a friend.
(This worked out really well. Definitely a KEEPER recipe, and the nice thing is you can use all purpose flour, not the more expensive bread flour, and you still get excellent results.)

Thank you for the recipe. I'm totally thrilled at it using all purpose flour, as having bread flour to hand when I feel like making bread is a real chore.

Made quiche tonight...probably for the first time in decades. We had to bake it longer than recipe called for because I added more spinach to use it up.
Will definitely make this again...bacon, swiss cheese, spinach and sauteed onions.
Made cottage/shepherds pie last night. It was okay. Tried to pipe the mashed potaoes on with a pastry bag and tip, but the tip blew out, and I ended up doing it free form.
