Yes, Sue, I did them by hand. Not sure what I'm going to tackle next as my eyes are getting pretty bad. I've tried Rohto eye drops, and they do help...no stinging and no blurriness like one gets from the "Blink" drops.

Getting my autumn decorations together. Won't put pumpkins out until October. We aren't even allowed to enjoy the seasons anymore ... they put the Christmas stuff out so early now.

I'm with you Lita: I put my pumpkins out in October! I have grown some big ones this year! Hope you can get some rest and a reprieve from the nasty back pain. Best, MJH

    Lita,

Please post photos of your autumn decorations when you have a chance.

I don't let the stores bother me any more with the relentless "march" of seasons. Business is tough, and they feel they need to be competitive. As soon as one season's merchandise is sold, they make room for the next. Red- and pink-wrapped chocolates and cards move over to make room for everything green, make room for all things pastel and Easter. They truly do not care what's on their shelves. Around here, the seasons are (from January): Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day (real big here), Easter/Spring, Mother's Day, Father's Day/Graduation, Summer (really, really, big here), Back to School, Autumn/Halloween/Thanksgiving, and Christmas/New Year's.  Usually merchandise is about 30 to 60 days ahead of a holiday, except Halloween and Christmas are even earlier. I saw the first hints of Halloween in July and usually the first Christmas stuff arrives right about now (late Sept, early Oct).

For our family, Halloween decorations go up October 1 or later, and Christmas decorations go up after Thanksgiving or on the first Sunday of Advent (4 weeks before Christmas).

How has your weather been? We're getting the first hints of autumn. Is it time for soups and stews yet?

Kind of cool here. I'll post pics in a day or two. My platelets were low, and they gave me chemo anyway, so really, really tired.

MO lowered platelet threshold from 141 to 100, and now she's lowered it again to 75. She doesn't want me to have to wait more than a couple of weeks between infusions. My last platelet test was 60, then on Monday it went up to 88 - still not over 100, but she sent me for Tx anyway. Trying to keep the diarrhea at bay :o(.

    Hi Lita.

Just wanted to pop in to say hi and let you know I am thinking about you. Sorry to hear that you are feeling tired (and really hope the Big D stays away!).

I was smiling thinking about the bird that nested in your door wreath. I one that has taken to roosting on a light fixture outside of my front door every night. I don't mind (and thankfully it seems to be less inclined to do its business) but I do like to turn the light on at night when I go out with the dog. Now it stays dark as I don't want to give the poor thing a fright and they don't make sun glasses small enough. Happy

    Sending hugs. Pat

From the Grand Canyon....Hurricane Rosa cooperated and we got a little sun and blue skies. Major flooding in Arizona, sadly.

Thanks for the photos. Grand Canyon is just mind-boggling to me. The huge time frame to carve those canyons.

Hi Lita, I was diagnosed with brain and spine mets a few weeks ago. It’s been a horrible ride as you we’ll know. I’ve done six out of ten full radiation treatments. One round of immune therapy. I still have double vision which totally sucks. Does this get better. I’m shedding quite a bit of hair. That sucks too. Well at least I’m now able to eat without vomiting any more. I think the steroids are helping with that. The room is spinning as much either. I was having spells where I felt like I was totally upside down. So very scary. I feel very weak these days. I had been doing very well on Xeloda then one day it all went crazy. They did a spinal tap. Didn’t like that much. The torture they can put us through is endless. You are such a strong lady to come this far. Not sure how far I will make it. I know I’m just sad. Hubby and I have only been married 4 1/2 years. I’m getting the short stick here. My son is only 19 1/2 . He’s having a difficult time. Sending you my love and prayers

is your state "green"? Cbd tinctures have saved me and kept me alive.

Brain mets are scary and suck.

Wbr is supposed to weaken the bbb so meds can get across. I am stable for now...nothing is getting bigger, thank God.

One of my favorite pics from our trip to AZ. It takes these guys FIFTY years just to sprout buds for arms, so this Seguaro must be pretty old. They only grow at a certain elevation, near Phoenix and Tucson. Sorry I posted this one pic earlier, but I wanted to include some info I learned about them. They are so majestic. And you CAN'T just go and dig the little ones up...they are a protected species. My DD adores them. She calls them her 'friends.' We had to drive over a hundred miles to see them and take the pictures. If you live in a 'gated' community in AZ, and they see one in your yard, they will ask to see the 'papers' on them, and if you don't have them, you will indeed get a pretty hefty fine, according to one of my friends who lives down there.

    Lita- can I

    Ask

You how you are keeping you head pain in control. It’s horrible. The pain pill they gave me isn’t working. Been up since four.

I use a variety of things....

Believe it or not, if you MESSAGE Vick's Vapo Rub into your temples, that can help a bit, but only if the pain is no more than a 7 out of 10.

Vaping with MMJ can help, too. I've even resorted to ICING my head. I don't like to take too many analgesics because of liver damage, etc.

Do they have you on steroids? Those can help with swelling/inflammation that can cause pain. I will have to be on them for the rest of my life b'cuz I have so many active brain mets.

    Hope this helps...

Lita- I am on steroids too. I have spells where everything turns upside down. Even me. I grab on to hubby and beg him not to let me fall. It’s so scary. I hate it. Just got a prescription to help me go the bathroom. It’s been over a week. Seems like it started with the steroids. I’ll have another brain mri in a couple of weeks to see what the radiation did or didn’t. My eyes are the worst. Can barely see and still have double vision. Drives me crazy. The episodes of pain just come and go. They are horrible as you know. I feel very weak but could be from the radiation. I’ve had nine. Hate the cage. Smells nasty. It’s amazing to keep watching fight and go on. I admire you

My eyes are so bad now...I just ordered 6.0 readers from support.com b'cuz the readers I have are only about a 4.0, and I'm tired of using a magnifying glass to read.

With my DH's insurance, I'd have to wait another year to order new Rx glasses, so I had no choice but to get some generic readers online....along with support hose for my foot/ankle/calf edema.

    It never ends....

    Hey Lita, we’re on Instagram!

I see you in the bottom, right corner and I am the Uncle Fester side by side. I recognize a few others but can’t name them.

Dianarose, so sorry that you are in so much pain.

Can you put a call in to your MO? Maybe MO can connect you with pain specialist?

    Wishing you the best, Madelyn

Do you have a dispensary for MMJ near you?

Opioids never worked for me. MMJ helps with head trauma and muscle/joint pain.

I agree with Mominator...it's time to call a pain specialist.
