Well I remember quite a few pages back we all talked about sugar...and someone said how "wrong it is that at the chemo infusions they give you crackers and cookies" forgive me for not finding the exact post wayyyy to many to go through on here as you all know lol ...well apparently they may not be so wrong doing that. I spoke to 3 women on FB last night all doing the Jane Protocol and all 3 of them all have Intergative and ND's they are being treated by (all different ones not the same person) and each of their Integrative Dr. / ND told them to have sugary drinks or treats during chemo infusion because it "wakes up the cancer cells and gets them active for the chemo to find them"....
So...if I get an infusion...pass the Dark Chocolate please LOL...

Nicole, I'm right there with you on the dark chocolate. I bought a package of dark chocolate covered raisins the other day and I can't keep my fingers out of the package.😊

The Moderators suggest that all my posts be moved to the death and dying section, which makes sense. Quick update. The ambulance just took my wife to a hospice care facility where she can stay for 6 days. I need the break. Wife's condition has, I guess, stabilized or not gotten any worse. Vital signs such as pulse, percent oxygen in blood, etc are all good. Another RN said she's had some patients with all good vital signs and they still die.
You ladies have been my strength through hard, hard times.
Thanks to the moderators for being so understanding.

Makes sense Nicole. Some practitioners offer insulin potentiated chemo, which is lower dose of chemo plus insulin, with the idea that the insulin will increase the uptake by the cancer cells. Eating some sugery treats should result in a boost in insulin to manage the blood sugar elevation from the treat.

Yea...so for once the medical facilities we are being treated at are not doing something wrong YAY! At least doing something right is better than nothing

I am a "sugar hater" LOL but I definitely see the logic here! My infusion center has started putting fruit bowls out on the counters with a Keurig coffemaker and all the usual snacks. So, a "healthier" way to get your sugar fix. I usually eat a banana while I'm there because I don't buy them at home and then I take one of their green apples home with me.

Public Service Announcement:
Does everyone know about the webinair tomorrow night sponsored by Living Beyond Breast Cancer? It's at 6 p.m. EST -- if you go to their website you can still sign up. It's about metastatic cancer treatment choices and side effects, and there is some kind of a participatory Q & A session.

I do always laugh about the cookies, graham crackers, hydrogenated peanut butter, etc. out at my cancer center. The worst, however, is that they have Sweet & Low, which is known/thought to be carcinogenic are rarely used anymore. Could they not use stevia? It is a cancer center for goodness sake. I was so hungry at my last chemo - really enjoyed that hydrogenated peanut butter on some saltines. I would NEVER eat hydrogenated peanut butter at home but the creamy texture sure does taste good. I have not heard that sugar is good during chemo but the theory does make sense. I have read so much about fasting and benefits of fasting during chemo (which I cannot do), I always try not to eat much but am usually starving at my appointments at the end of the day, after a long day at work. I won't feel so worried about eating during chemo anymore. Bombs away, cookies! The one treat I did stop taking during chemo is cappuccinos. My cancer center has a good espresso/cappuccino machine. I love "capuccis" and would occasionally have them during chemo but noticed that my mouth sores would be worse when I drank a hot beverage before/during chemo. The heat in the mouth increases the blood flow and can lead to greater side effects. On the flip side, I used to bring my heating pad and put it on my liver during chemo to try to give the mets an extra kick. Maybe I should start doing that again.
Nicole, have a fabulous time at the Ball on Thursday! In addition to all of the other reasons the Ball is amazing, it is also good to have something to look forward to. Also, good luck with your surgery Monday.

Oh, yes, the artificial sweetener. My center had it out when I first started chemo, then they took it away at someone's request, probably a doctor complained. But, now it is back again. I honestly think aspartame is the worst in terms of possible cancer and other ill effects.
I used saccharine/sweet and low for years and I scoffed when people said it caused cancer. I would always say my grandmother used it since it was invented and she died of heart disease in her 80s, not cancer. Oh well...maybe I was wrong??? lol...I don't know. I really thought the saccharine/cancer link had been debunked. But now, I have quit it, just in case and I do use the stevia sweetener. The cancer centers should get definitely get on board. I like the Whole Earth packets, I keep some in my bag for takeout coffee and tea. At home I use Truvia.
Nicole, hope you have a blast at the Ball and wish you the best with your surgery. xo

Folks, God took another angel home. Muddlingthrough crossed over to her new Home on Nov 11th. I'm praying that GOD"s grace surrounds and comforts her family in this time of sorrow.
(Her son reported this under her handle. So just go to search and type in Muddlingthrough)
So very sad, still haven't gotten over Sonia's departure.

Just wanted to share that today is the first day in about three months that I woke up without a headache! It has been daily non-stop in the same place. Also my vision is not as blurry as it was. I've been reading on the net all day and no issues.
Although I love the fact that it's gone, I'll always wonder what caused them. Now that my head is not thumping so bad,, Hopefully I can be more active on the thread. I've missed a lot. Just today saw all the beautiful pictures you have been posting of each other. They are special. And Frisky, that cabin of yours, I could live in a place like that forever. And I saw your picture, geesh I've missed a lot.
For those who remember, Just yesterday I learned that my fight to receive Medicare Part B has been reviewed and changed. I now have part B. Praise God.
Hope everyone enjoys their evening
