Kamboka, It is windy and rain. The eye is still out in the Gulf. Looks like it will be a nasty day. When we called 911 when my husband was having horrible headaches, it took them 40 minutes to get here. The headache was gone and he refused to go. They charges $175 for doing nothing, but driving here. He is very grumpy about it. I told him that would happen. The bill for his MRI was $1400. Insurance covered most of it. Healthcare is expensive.

Praying for safety and little/no damage for you two Floridians today.
The reason why I work full-time at a job that frustrates me and I don't always like...Good health insurance and benefits. It stinks that we have to do that but we can't afford it any other way.

Kamboka, I hope it is not too bad up there. We didn't have any problems. Thankfully.
mocame, I know several people that work at their jobs for the insurance. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

petite1: So glad you did not have a rough time with Elsa. We started getting tornado warnings at 430. One touched down less than 10 miles from me. At the house, it rained hard but the sky never got really dark. It's still raining now. I think by Friday, we might get some sun.
Sorry to hear about the headache being so bad that you had to call the ambulance. The costs of heath care are ridiculous. Is the medication not working? When is his next appointment?
mocame: I would imagine at least 95% of folks are working for health insurance. What a predicament! I don't think national insurance is everything people imagine but we need some sort of change to bring these costs down.

Good morning. Another rainy day. I have a project. The closet system fell down in my office, spare bedroom. What a mess! I had 11 years of business records stored over top of my tiny crystal animals. It is a mini version of a high rise collapse. This will take most of the day to clear out and clean up.

I'm glad you two have made it through Elsa. We may be experiencing some of her rain bands tonight. She should be out of the area by the time we drive down to the beach on Saturday morning.
Petite1 - I'm so sorry you have a mess to clean up. Not fun.
0 -
petite1: did you lose any of your tiny crystals? I always worry about some catastrophe that would cause me to lose my Lladro collection. I do have some shutters that I can close to help with wind damage. The sun has been out off and on today. We had a little rain this morning.
mocame: I hope you enjoy your beach weekend. I laugh because every time I have company, we go to the beach. But, I've never put on my swimsuit and gotten in the water. One of these days.
I loaded all my boxes that contains 157 items into the car. I'm so happy with the size of my SUV. She's a beast with room! I still have extra room. I'll stop at an estate sale about an hour out of Jacksonville and then get to Orlando about 1pm and head to the auction house.

Kamboka, good luck with the auction. I lost the first Swarovski produced figurine from 1976. It was a little mouse. I have a bunny without an ear and a bird without a body. There maybe more, but I haven't located them as yet. I did list some on ebay, 3 AVON cats and a Princess House Pets collection cat. Some are special and I will keep, even if damaged. I did throw any business records over 7 years old. I also found a box of full and half slips. I don't remember the last time I wore a slip. Not in this century anyway. LOL I will throw those away. I think they are too old to donate. The younger generations would not know what they are. There are tons of wires, internet, ethernet, and cable. I think I will donate them. There are old routers and other computer parts and 2 lap tops. I am not sure what to do with those. If I can figure out ho to remove all my personal information, I will donate them.

petite1: If not fun when we lose our collectibles that have meaning. I would also keep them even if they were damaged. A few years ago, I had a 250 lb allotment of household items stolen at JFK airport as it was being sent back from overseas. I lost some souvenirs that I had bought in Southeast Asia that I can't replace.
I dropped off my 157 items at the auction house and the owner was there. We had a nice conversation as he's a transplant from PA. I'm in Orlando and we are eating at some kind of seafood buffet. I'll only do the ala carte since my stomach has shrunk. It will kill me not to be able to eat everything as I love it all. We are having an afternoon shower but I hope it will clear in the next 15 minutes before I have to leave for the restaurant. I've scoped out two estate sales here so my mom and I will hit them tomorrow before we drive back to Jax.

Kamboka, how was your weekend?

Mom and I hit an estate sale in the last two hours of their final day. We got several items at 75% off, including a really nice antique chair for $18. I've got mom hooked on looking for coins. She is helping me go through my 4-5 gallons of piggybank coins from my sister. Tomorrow we go to St. Augustine for the day. She has decided to stay until the 24th and will ride back to TN with a cousin who will be coming to visit with me on the 19th. Then my play neice is coming on the 29th for a few days.

Kamboka, Sounds like a fun time. I love junking, treasure hunting. LOL

Good morning, ladies. Husband is now off the headache medications and has a follow up in 6 weeks. He has an appointment with a renal doctor for renal arteriosclerosis. If it is not one thing it is another. I hope you both a have good weekend.

petite1: You are correct--'if it's not one thing, it's another'. Hope he does okay off the meds.
Mom and I hit three estate sales and three thrifty stores. Tomorrow we are hitting five! I'm exhausted. She is having a ball. I've also got her helping me with my coin searches. My sister had about four gallons of coins in two piggybanks.

Hello, Ladies! Just got back on Saturday from the beach. The weather was warm and there was no rain. Yay! I don't want to go back to work! Yuck! It stinks having to work for benefits and a paycheck! LOL. Now the push is to get both kids ready for college in a month. Boys are so much harder because they don't care about doing anything. (insert eye roll emoji here). He doesn't want anything on his walls, couldn't care less about what bedding he has or anything...except what video games he is taking along. Ugh. After reading the profiles of almost all of the guys starting at the same college this fall, at least 90% of them mentioned they love playing video games. Great.
Also, now is the push time to get more things listed on ebay. I need to get rid of things. I didn't sell anything while I was on vacation last week but I did pick up more watchers. I feel bad because I need to sell more things to make room for an a/c system in our attic but I have so much fun going to garage sales and thrift shops buying stuff cheap that will sell and I've picked up just as much, if not more, than what I am selling. I need to stop going to garage sales/thrift shops for awhile. And we have a thrift shop at work...
While I was on vacation, I started reading Eat to Live a book about eating more basically plant based to get healthy to ward off/get rid of diseases and weight. Now I started a book called How I Beat Stage 4 Cancer. My coworker who was just diagnosed stage 4 read those books and recommended them to me. She is trying to beat hers or at least extend her life a while longer through eating healthy. We will see. I am at least eating more fruits and veggies and less meat than I have before so that is good.

mocame: I'm so glad you enjoyed the vacation and that the weather cooperated. We had great weather last week but might get a little rain today and tomorrow. My mom is with me until Saturday. We did three days and 11 estate sales and came home loaded. We got some great stuff. She will really miss this when she gets back to TN. I keep telling her that she should just move down here and we could open a shop. My cousin came tonight and another cousin will come tomorrow for two days. At least they can do stuff together since I have a lot of meetings on Wednesday and Thursday.

I think that's awesome that you and your mom can have fun together going to sales. I know you have been trying for awhile to get your mom to move down there. Hopefully she will change her mind and move down.

mocame, I am glad you had a nice time and good weather. I didn't list as much, so I didn't sell as much. A lady in the neighborhood has some vintage jewelry she is looking to sell. I hope it is some good stuff. I picked up a Hattie Carnegie flower brooch in a thrift shop for $4, it is over $47 and the auction does not end until Sunday.
Kamboka, Any good vintage costume jewelry in these places you are going to? Sounds fun going with your mom. My mom was not into junking.
My husband went to the kidney doctor today. He has a new med, some labs to do and an ultrasound to get, before next visit. She is young, but very well organized and even had his records from the hospital when he was first diagnosed with HTN & CHF in 2009. I was impressed.

petite1: There is always some sort of jewelry at these estate sales. Since, I seldom wear jewelry, I hardly ever look. I did buy some gemstone rings both sterling and gold through my auctions. I plan to resell some times. Tomorrow, my second shipment of coins goes up for auction. I'm hoping this auction house does better than the last one. The last folks told me to expect my payment check this week but I've not seen it yet.
My mom and my cousin are heading to St. Augustine tomorrow. I have a bunch of work calls so can't go with them. They will be leaving me on Saturday heading back to TN. I'll miss all the activitity but my diet has been really bad. I'll have to get back on track next week before my play niece comes on the 29th.

Kamboka, I have been buying some jewelry lots on auction, but prefer to buy when I can get close to it. I don't wear the old costume. I have metal allergies. I just sell it. I hope you can get back on the diet. My friend's husband would get sick when he went off the diet. I haven't seen them for over 11 years, so I don't know if he gained any weight back.

I've listed a few items this week but no sales so far. I've spent more money buying stuff on ebay than selling things. I've been finding textbooks for my son cheaper on ebay than buying or renting and I also needed some shipping supplies because I've run out of my free stuff to use.
I'm struggling this week with my paranoia about getting my cancer back again. With my coworker at stage 4, I keep wondering if my bone aches and pains is bone cancer or not. If a lump shows up somewhere, I freak out that it's the cancer again. Ugh. I'm trying to eat even better. I read Eat to Live while on vacation and now I'm reading a book from a woman who beat stage 4 colon cancer. I'm trying to gradually change my diet but I keep falling off the wagon and eating a baked good or processed food. I wished I liked vegetables as much as I like my baked good or junk food.

mocame, I know what you mean. Aug. 8, 2019 was the day I found the lump, 8/12 was the mamo, 8/19 was the diagnosis, 8/23 surgery. I think you are in the same time frame as I.

mocame: I think I went through a period where all my aches and pains were new cancer. Luckily, I passed out of that phase, not to say that it won't come back. I do something think that I will not live to a ripe old age and that's why I'm trying to live fully now. That's also why I am telling my relatives about some of my affairs. Try not to take on too much related to your friend's new diagnosis. More than likely, our aches and pains are arthritis and other old age things.
My second coin aunction was not much better than the first. I need to find a differnt aunction house that will get more viewers to bid. I didn't have much luck on Ebay so I'll keep trying to find the perfect place. I've spend too much money and need to stop buying off auctions and slow down my estate sale buying.

Well, I found another lump on Thursday and burst into tears. I keep telling myself to just wait a few days and see if it changes. I did wait and I can't find it now. Phew. This past week I tried eating a lot more greens and fruits and a lot less carbs and proteins. I was feeling okay until yesterday morning when I just had no energy. I ate some protein at lunch and felt much better. I don't think I can be a vegetarian. LOL.
I listed a lot more items this week. No sales but my watchers increased. I have a very busy week this week and I'm only home after work one night so not much will get done this week. Taking breaks like that hurt my sales when I went to the beach so I'm hoping it doesn't do that again.
Kamboka - I'm sorry your auction didn't go well. Are there other online platforms other than ebay that you can try and sell them?
0 -
Kamboka, I do think some auction houses have more followers than others. When I buy stuff, I focus on the entire lot and not just one item. I have had one's I did not make money and lost money, but they are few. I have had ones that made triple my money back. I also try to sell the lot down, before I buy another one.
mocame, I worry about getting cancer in another location. Some of the ladies on the other threads have had other cancers after the BC and that is scary, but we can't let it control us. We have to do what we can, exercise, try to eat healthy, and do what we enjoy. Worry doesn't help or change it. It will be what it will be. LOL my thought for the day.
I did have a good ebay weekend. Time to ship.

Kamboka, I just looked at Dudley's upcoming auctions. There is a pretty good one that ends 8/1. It is online. Check it out. If you were to ever go there, I don't think it would be as far as Orlando. If you were going to Orlando via I-75, you would exit before the exit to go to Orlando, on highway 44. Take 44 to 41 go a couple of miles and there it is on the right. They do ship for the online auctions.

mocame: I think the news from your friend has got you antsy. It's so hard not to think everything is a recurrence. I have lumps in the affected breast but have consigned myself to just not thinking about it until my 6 month mammogram--then I'll worry.
petite1: I'll take a look at Dudley's. There are many auctions I follow that get good money for items I have. The problem is that I'd have to ship items to them and that would get pricey. I was trying to stick with the ones closest to me in Tallahassee or Orlando. Southern FL have a lot so I might have to drive some things there. I've got two more household auctions coming up in which I have items. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I'm trying to sell down so I might jump back into Ebay with some one offs.

I hurt myself getting out of the pool, yesterday. I nearly ripped my big toe nail off, 8" x 2" scrape on my thigh, and a bruised knee. It hurts to sit.

petite1: Wow, how did that happen? Did you slip?
0 -
Oh, Petite1! That sounds painful.
