petite1: I had two large quart zip locks full of jewelry that was either broken or only one pieces, like one earring. I had a lady today buy both bags. It was only $10 but I didn't really expect that they would sell. We didn't do too bad but the traffic was light except at 715 when people showed up for an 800 start. We hadn't even put stuff out yet. Anyways, one lady had come to my sale last year and she was the first one there and bought about $60 worth of stuff. Saturdays are usually slower but I hope it will pick up. I really want to get rid of more of my clothes, pictures and jewelry. The jewelry is easy to keep till next time but the others take up more space.

Kamboka, Wishing you a fantastic sale.

Not sure if I mentioned that I sold a purse on Friday. Only my second out of 40 something listings. The garage sale was a lot of work. My sister is not really into these like my mom and she was always asking me what to do. My BIL was fairly worthless as he went fishing and didn't help too much. I was selling some things for my brother and my sister brought a few things. We sold almost $800. Two hundred was two big things for my brother. I was pleased to get rid of some things. I loaded up two boxes of stuff to take to Salvation Army this week. I'll probably have another sale in November or December. Now, I need to focus on Ebay.

Wow. $800 is a lot, although I always price super cheap. One year I had a man try and negotiate a $.25 item down to $.10!! I don't do yard sales anymore.

I had 0 sales in one week! Then I had 3 sales in 2 days and again, nothing since then. I've had people trying to get things for dirt cheap and I do negotiate down but I'm not going to give stuff away when it is selling for what my original price was. Frustrating because I have put so much work into listing every day. I put my listed stuff into my daughter's room while she is in college. I'm running out of room to store listings and she comes home next weekend, so I need to move stuff out of her room.

My BS appointment went fine, and my bone scan only shows slight decrease in bone loss from 2 years ago. My PCP and I are trying to figure out what is causing my increase in reflux. We are halving my migraine meds to see if that will have an effect. If not, I will have to go to my GI again and/or a ENT.

mocame, I had my bone scan today. The only thing that was out of normal is my left hip. All cancer labs were normal.

Kamboka, $800 seems like a lot to me.

Glad to hear that both of your MO and bone scans were relatively normal. I'll keep my fingers crossed that I'll have a good report tomorrow.

mocame: I still lose money on the sales from Ebay and garage. I'm not a good saleswoman. My sister said I was reducing prices before people even asked. I was just not wanting to put the stuff up again. I don't have any room either and I need that room for company in July.

It's so hard to figure out what causes some problems like reflux. So many things can do that. I guess it is trying one thing at a time to eliminate. I've been on omeprazole since my GI surgery last year. I don't take it every day but so far so good.

  • petite1
    petite1 Member Posts: 2,293

Kamboka, is the reflux a result of the surgery and certain kinds of food? A friend of mine's husband had the surgery many years ago, and certain foods he just could not eat.

I have my MO appointment, labs, and Prolia injection today. My MO doesn't check cancer markers with the labs. I'm gradually starting to go vegan. It's hard because not many restaurants around here have vegetarian or vegan options. I also don't want to pay $13 - $15 for a basic salad that I can pay less than $4 for at the grocery store. Also, my willpower is not very high, so I cheat too often.

Ebay sales are still slow. I will go a week without any sales and then all of the sudden get like 3 sales within 36 hours...repeat. Hoping it gets better soon. My inventory is growing by my storage space is not! LOL.

This website has gone crazy. Did either of you know it was changing and next to impossible to find your friends?

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

Ladies, I've been trying for two days to log into this new site. It would not let me and then when I tried to reset the password a bunch of times, they never sent the link. I ended up finding a number to call this morning. Still didn't work. I just took a chance now--8 hours later--to try again and low and behold, I'm in. Now, I don't know where the section is to find out if you have any messages from our favorites. Change is always difficult.

My mammogram yesterday was negative and in fact this was the first time they didn't have to reshoot me again. I was excited until I saw the doctor later and he said I had lost from 6-9% of bone density in one year. Apparently, 1-2% is more normal. He thinks I might not be absorbing the calcium because most of my stomach is gone. Now, he wants me to start on either Fosamax, Boniva or Prolia. I have to get permission from the GI doc first. I'm learning towards Fosamax but not happy about starting another drug with new side effects. Always something.

If you don't see me for days, might mean, I'm locked out again. Sad

Yup, I don't like this change in the website either. When I go to sign in, it takes me back to the list of topics again instead of back where I was. The all white background makes it harder to read.

Kamboka - I'm on Prolia. I get a shot every six months. Just got it at my visit on 3/2. I have zero side effects from it. I did still lose bone mass but it was around .1, so that is minimal. Originally when I went on Prolia 2 years ago, they said you can only be on it for 4 to 5 years. Now my MO says she would like me to be on something as long as I'm on the Anastrozole. She said she doesn't know how long you "can" be on it so we developed a plan. Stay on Prolia another 2 years (4 years total), then take Reclast for a year so that there is a break from the Prolia. Then do a scan again of the bones and see if I should go back on Prolia or maybe stay on Reclast.

Ebay is still slow but I sold a few things this week.

I don't like it either and it is soooooo slow. My PCP wants to start me on Alendronate 70 mg once a week for osteopenia. I think that is Fosamax. Not looking forward to taking it.

I got locked out again. I had to reset the password but at least this time, it let me reset. Then, when I get in, it's hard to find the threads that I follow. They took away the link that let's you follow your favorites. I'm not seeing that this is better.

Anyways, petite1 I think we are talking about the same drug since Boniva is monthly and Prolia is a shot. Because of my stomach surgery, I'll have to monitor this closely to see if I'm absorbing the Fosomax. I'm still waiting on the bariatric doctor to come back and tell me which one he recommends. Right now, I don't really have any side effects from the AI so I'm hoping this new drug will not change that. I do not like taking pills. Scared

I'm not finding anything I like about this new format.

Just spent 10 minutes trying to find this thread and lucked up and found "my favorites".

Looks like traffic has slowed down a lot.

No sales for me. I reduced prices again on Saturday.

    mocame Member Posts: 564

On Saturday I started to use Promote on most of my items. I didn't use their suggested % but I put them at about 1 to 2%. Most of them I put it so I would only have to pay an extra $.10 to $.25 cents if they sold. I did sell 1 promoted item last night that I wasn't sure if it would sell or not. By using the Promoted option (even at a low %), they will end up higher in the search than those that aren't promoted at all. We will see what happens.

I had a pretty good ebay weekend. I have 16 things to ship. I still hate the changes. It took me ages to get on here. I haven't picked up the Fosamax. I dread starting it.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

My bariatric surgeon came back and said that he didn't recommend Fosamax or Boniva as they cause reflux and ulcers in gastric surgery patients. He said he wanted to confer with the Endocrinology but she is on vacation until late next week. Looks like I might have to start start away on Prolia.

I mailed my one sale off today. This weekend, I'll look into the 'promote' feature. I've sent a few offers but I have a lot of looks but few if any watchers.

petite1, you are on a roll. I need to restock my packing supplies.

When I had all the purses on ebay, I did promotions, sales and coupons. The jewelry I do auctions. I have a no pay person that said their back account was hacked. At least they reached out, but I don't want to wait forever. I will give them until Saturday, then I will relist it. I still haven't picked up the Fosamax.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

I think I listed one thing for auction and everything else for buy now. This weekend I'll try to get these all out the door. Any money is better than none. I'm working with two auctioneers near Orlando to see if I can get rid of some other things. I had two mattresses to sell and finally sold the last one this afternoon. With gas being so high, I waited to combine some errands and dropped off two boxes of stuff at Salvation Army.

I still am not liking this new format. It's so slow and bland. There is no color on the pages and I can't seem to see what's been read and what not. Then when you get to this thread, it doesn't automatically go to the last message. I'm sure they are losing people.

Petite1 - How many items do you have listed? It sounds like you have a store. I only have 109 items listed so I don't have enough for a store yet. I would LOVE to have that many items go out. I use my daughter's room to store listed items and she is coming home tonight for the weekend, so I had to find room for all of it. I got it all out except 4 boxes. I am listing double what I actually sell and things are piling up.

Kamboka - I don't like this new format either. It is bland and hard to find things. Although it goes right to the last message for me. The old format didn't so it took me longer to get here. Weird. I just have a harder time trying to find it in the list of topics because they all look the same.

Kamboka, We are under storm warnings, tornado watch, freeze warnings, gale warnings. The computer is sending me warnings. Both phones have been sending warnings and the county is sending recorded messages to the home phone. In looking at the radar, it looks like you are going through the same.

mocame, I do have a store, but it is little. I currently have 48 items listed. The cell phones are going off again with the alarm sound. The power is flickering. Guess I better check radar again.

petite1: I think you guys might have had more thunderstorms than us. I didn't get any alerts today. In fact, it stopped raining at about 1000 which allowed me to go down to Fleming Island for an estate sale. Sometimes, between the phone calls and texting dinging, I go crazy with the alerts.

I have now listed 66 things and have only sold two things so far. I listed some jewelry today for the first time so I'll see how that goes.

mocame: I have company coming in July and need to clear out my 'warehouse' room. I have so much stuff. The auction house near Orlando says they will get back to me at the end of next week about all the photos that I sent. I hope they take my things. I like to drive and look forward to seeing the countryside but am not happy about having to pay so much for gas. It got up to $4.59 in a few stations on Thursday. Today, it's back down to 4.29. I get BJ gas and it's 4.19. I have their credit card so it will be 4.09 for me except that the lines are so long. I'll need to go at an odd hour tomorrow.

Kamboka, One of the rental houses had a bad lightning hit and we lost the refrigerator. With the supply chain issue, we had to buy whatever we could to replace it. Refrigerators have gone up about $200 since the last time we had to buy one. With dealing with all that I didn't list too much on Saturday, but had some relists to do. The sales went pretty well. I have 18 to ship this morning. By the way, my store is kgstrinkettreasures.

petite1: Sorry you lost the fridge. Having to buy any large purchases now will cost more money. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my old HVAC and car. I bought my fridge on FB two years ago and so far no problems except the ice machine. My home warranty has replaced a few parts so I'm happy about that.

I'll check out your store. I managed to get an offer today for one of my Madame Alexander dolls. They haven't paid yet so I'm hoping tomorrow. I have it already boxed and ready to go.

I had a Madame Alexander doll when I was a little girl. Unfortunately, it deteriorated from keeping it in non-climate control storage. Betsy McCall was with her and she did not make it either. LOL

petite1: I took a look at your store and saw your cuffs that look that the ones that I have. You have some nice pieces. I will keep lowering the cost until I get my inventory down.

Question for you ladies...Any idea what this is? It looks better in person and is in very good used condition. There are different Asian symbols on each square. I don't see any marks on them but haven't been able to find anything on Google Lens.

mocame, Nice watch band. Looks like tiger's eye, jade, turquoise, and carnelian or coral. I don't know what the writing or symbols are. You could probably find out at your favorite Chinese take out.

    Kamboka, Nice cufflinks.

petite1: You have a pair almost like those on your sight.

mocame: I agree with what petite1 said. I don't know carnelian but I do collect jade and turquoise. Do you know if the metal has any markings about gold? Does it feel heavy?

I had an offer that I accepted for a microphone that I had listed. It's been six hours and they haven't paid. I'll keep my fingers crossed as it was a nice profit.

Kamboka - I hope they pay soon. I think they might have a few days to pay when it was sold as a Best Offer?

That watch was in a blind bag of jewelry I bought for $3 at a thrift store. There were only 3 items in the bag and this was the only one that looked like it might be worth anything. The watch part is silver, not gold. I'm not sure the watch is even working.
