One of my distant neighbors has the best political sign " Bye- Don". Only one I have seen like this so far and I am tempted to ask where they got it.
Meanwhile the neighbor next to me has a Trump 2020 bumper sticker. Hate to say I have always thought he was an a**hole at times and this just proves it. Nice man, just a radical thinker who spends his winters in Fl and drank DeSantis's koolaid. Guess he missed the quip about Fl being God's waiting room.

The ruling blocks William Perry Pendley from continuing as the temporary head of the Bureau of Land Management, a post he's held for more than a year without being confirmed by the Senate.

I'm left to question how long does it takes rats to figure out the orange ship seems to be sinking. Just seems like several times a day Trump takes a dump and they all step in it. It is hard to imagine they keep expecting to be looked at and listened to as though they were normal human beings. Someone needs to tell them they do not have to stay attached to the orange umbilical cord. It is not a lifesaver. Knowing there are some that have been blind all along -- but others do have or did have the possibility of a political future which likely has slipped away. No matter, I would still keep what sm. amt. of possible dignity I could. Apparently they are too far gone to understand what such a thing is anymore. That is horrid.

I read it Trill and I am speechless.

Jackie, that's how I felt after I read it....it's amazing, isn't it? We are in for some really strange days coming up.....I mean, this has never happened in the US before and we've had some difficult, complex things to deal with that we've survived....Civil War, Depression, Watergate, JFK, MLK, 9/11, WWII, Iran/Contra, Vietnam, the Pentagon Papers, and on and on.....
Maybe he wants to create such turmoil that it will take the Supreme Court fo decide the election, a la 2000. A SC with possibly a new Justice.....chosen by him......
Oh, boy.....
We're living the Chinese curse:
"May you live in interesting times."

Anyone see Maher tonight (by now, last night)? It was a dark and scary show indeed--but for one point: it is not a given that the Justices he appoints would throw the election to him or even delay the vote count long enough to allow GOP state legislatures to ignore the vote totals and pick Trump electors should their states go to Biden. A SCOTUS (or any Federal) judgeship is a lifetime appointment, which can be involuntarily terminated by only death or impeachment. (Yes, there have been Fed. judges impeached over the years). Once a Justice is sworn in, (s)he is no longer beholden to any President. Several Gorsuch, Roberts and even Kavanagh opinions have given Drumpf the heebie-jeebies over the past four years, and there's not a damn thing he can do about it.
Now as to Amy Coney Barrett, what the Dem. members of Senate Judiciary need to do is repeatedly read into the record quotations from her speeches & writings in which she stated that the goal of her legal career was to "establish the kingdom of God on earth." (I forget the name of the ultra-Evangelical Christian group to which she belongs, but it's the Catholic version of DeVos' "Dominionists," albeit stopping short of Opus Dei, to which Thomas belongs). Then when they ask her point-blank if she will decide cases only on the law and not on her faith and she inevitably lies and says "of course not," they (should the Dems retake the Senate) will have ammo to bring impeachment proceedings against her for perjury should she vote hard-line Catholic on any cases involving reproductive choice or contraception. They also need to read into the record her writings in support of racially-segregated "separate but equal" public accommodations. They may be able to stall the proceedings long enough past Nov. 3 for Mark Kelly to be sworn in (and maybe flip Romney if he was at all serious when he said he'd confirm a Trump nominee "depending on their qualifications"). If they can keep her off the SCOTUS bench past Nov. 10 (when the ACA arguments will begin), Obamacare may find a lifeline.
There is a way for Trump to leave office should he lose, yet manage to stay out of the hoosegow: work out a deal with Pence (similar to that Nixon worked out with Ford) to resign before noon on Jan. 20 in return for Pence pardoning him for all Federal crimes past, present & future. Yes, he'd still be vulnerable to NYS prosecution--but he is a master at dragging out legal proceedings, and will probably do so long enough for the Grim Reaper (courtesy of all those hamberders and lack of exercise) to catch up with him before he can be sentenced or even get to pretrial hearings.
But anyone who thinks the Repubs. will reach an epiphany and do the right thing is delusional. As Maher said tonight (and I've been saying all along), it's all about power. And power is the combo crack/heroin/crystal meth of politics. Once you have it, you want more and more of it (and sadly, it's self-perpetuating).

Finding the center of strength within ourselves is in the long run the best contribution we can make to our fellow people. . . . One person with indigenous inner strength exercises a great calming effect on panic among people around him or her. This is what our society needs--not new ideas and inventions; important as these are, and not geniuses and superpeople, but persons who can "be", that is, persons who have a center of strength within themselves. -Rollo May, Man's Search for Himself

Sandy, and Trill. Definitely going to take a lot of strength ( will-power don't fail me now ) to see the days ahead and live through them. I do believe there are more people who want the world back ( as imperfect as it always was ) and will push toward that line. Trump and many around him are it seems willing to make it as difficult as possible for people, but when the going was tough ( just like after Trump was sworn in and the women's march on Washington and around the world took place, we can make it through. I think one of the key points has already made itself known. Not to be swayed so far off point that we give up. That means voting period.
I do think if the numbers for Democrats are high ones -- we will have that as a beginning. Anywhere along the way things could deter those who are trying to thwart the democratic processes which would also work in our favor. People don't like Trump and they don't want him. I keep thinking of all those people who will have lost their lives because of this president and think about the fact that in the end the only true power anyone has is what the rest of us will allow him or her to have. The days ahead have a challenge and if we don't quit we can make challenge work for us just as much as the other side since I do believe in many cases that side if banking a good deal on our becoming exhausted and giving up in fear and dismay. I read where Trump is gong to use the first debate to just attack Joe Biden and his family the whole way through. Just how he does that I'm not sure. There will be questions -- Chris Wallace is very good. I think Biden will have to ignore a lot of Trump's chaos ( directed maybe quite personally ) and let Trump be seen as the know noghinb bully he is while Biden remains calm, focused and giving answers that tell us how we can move forward.
I don't know why we got here, but I'm positive that wherever we are there is a way out. I don't have the answers, but I believe the answers for us are there -- takes a far better mind than I have, but that is the beauty in those numbers. We have to stand stronger together and not be hounded off the track. Going to be a great challenge.
ETA: Glennie -- lets all grab that baton.

This leads to the article about People of Praise which counts Amy Coney Barrett as a member. She is anti-abortion on the grounds that it is "immoral" under any circumstances and has voted in two cases against abortion. She could swear on the original Bible that she will follow the law but still vote her convictions, making her oath worthless. She will not defend women's rights. Not my idea of RBG's replacement.
I wish I had a mechanism for blocking drumpf's political ads. I am quick on the mute button and seldom watch the news because it makes me sad and crazy. But I wish I could block j=him like I can block unwanted phone solicitation.

Another thing I am thinking about is the overall chaos and turmoil in the Reps. party. We often see the party through the Senate. We see it often in polls, but there are more people NOT for Trump than just Democrats and while it is unpleasant to the max I bear in mind that Trump hasn't care who was left by the wayside ( plenty of Reps. ) when he chose to ignore covid. I have read a couple of times of the dire thoughts of many of his aides who could actually resign it was said. Should have saved that article.
In any case all to say we may see ourselves alone in a long and hard battle, but we may be less alone than we think. This is a situation pretty much without an equal None of us REALLY know how it plays out. Maybe all the Kentucy chicken and hamberders will be what the Oct. surprise actually ends up being -- while we were thinking of possibly something else. So while Trump and co., work overtime to stick it to us -- for the most part they can't be sure either how it plays out. They have been heavy on bluffing for a long time. Like for instance repeal and replace -- just to name a biggie. Never had anything at any time. None of this is written in stone.
Nothing by the way says that the Supreme pick will make it onto the bench though that has a fair chance since Reps. have the upper hand. I do think there are things we can do to stall though -- and if so I hope it is done. I would feel more comfortable if the election is done. If she were seated then, I wouldn't like it any better, but if we take the Senate, and keep the House and get the presidency there will be ways to repair what is wrong about the court and most other things. Up hill battles in some cases all the way but so VERY worth it.

Rarely have national security officials, governors, tech CEOs and activists agreed as broadly and fervently as they do about the possibility of historic civil unrest in America.
- Why it matters: The ingredients are clear for all to see — epic fights over racism, abortion, elections, the virus and policing, stirred by misinformation and calls to action on social media, at a time of stress over the pandemic.
Look across America this week:
- Portland, Oregon — already suffering from fires and protests — is bracing for a showdown today between right and left wing activists, with "far-right groups from around the country bringing guns, flags, bulletproof vests," the N.Y. Times reports.
- President Trump was booed — with chants of "Vote him out!" — as he paid respects to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court steps.
- With today's 5 p.m. Supreme Court announcement, Trump will put America on the cusp of a hardened conservative majority.
- For the third night in a row, a revived racial-justice movement took to streets across the country to protest the lack of charges against police in the death of Breonna Taylor in Louisville. CNN showed demonstrations from L.A. to Sacramento to Philadelphia to Boston.
The bottom line: Everyone from Facebook to YouTube to the U.S. military is taking precautions for post-election civil unrest exploding.
Forgot to say --- this is from Axios this morning.

Absolutely agree with and love the above memes. .
I think this is way too early to making too many predictions although even I like what is being indicated strongly at this point. I can only hope and pray it continues to keep going over to the Biden column.
Nearly A Million People Have Already Voted And Data Suggests The Majority Are Voting For Biden
State data reveals that over 864,000 Americans have already voted, and in states where party data is available it suggests a majority preference for Biden.

If Trump is worried ( he doesn't seem to be by outward appearance ) by his nominating anyone to the court THIS close to an election. He has garnered a lot of negative feeling atop all the negatives he has put on himself already. It is true that she will take us way backasswards, but just as much is the fact he did it all. We who are going to choose everyone else that we wish/hope/ and pray gets elected, we also feel we should have the privilege of picking the next judge. Not only is it right, the privilege was promised us by the Reps. who rode roughshod over us to seat Gorsuch in a stolen seat and Kavanaugh in a seat that was purchased for him.
Never surprised that the Reps. went back on their word -- more surprised that they did so with tape to replay over and over of their promise and certainly not surprised that this is what they have to do to appease Trump -- not for him, but for the power they hope to get by dint of his possible they hope re-election. Just my opinion, but I think many of them were sick of him early on. He was not and has not been controllable and has put them in bad light over and over again. But they are not only monetarily greed, they are also power hungry. Not sure who among them has a soul left.
