Jackie--Yes....we will survive...we will survive this man and we will survive even more!
A dear friend just wrote me this and I thought it was so spot-on I'd attach it here....
" I think all hell let loose 4 years ago, and it's been major destruction ever since-- irreversible destruction in many cases, especially in damage to the rivers, air, wilderness, etc. In fact, I think it began the day that idiot yelled "LIAR!" at Obama during the 1st State of the Union. And no one threw his butt out. Yesterday and this morning felt like the night this creep was elected 4 years ago. I was in Paris the night Obama won, and in Arkansas the night this guy won... what does that tell you?"

Why I love Bette Midler:
Of course, in my mind who in the world could be un-decided right now. There hasn't been a day ( if you only take this last yr. ) that I haven't known with my whole heart and soul that I'd be voting for WHOMEVER was the Democratic nominee. Even if I didn't really think much of them. Trump is fit for nothing and no one. I still think it would be such irony if he had a major medical incident a week before the election. Stroke, heart attack, super Adderall overdose. Just anything of that nature will be fine. Oh would I love to see the Reps. then -- left at the altar by their orange God -- finally restrained.

Your friend makes a great points Trill. It has been most of the time pure hell where people nearly dread the news. Not only for what Trump does and says as he does everything possible to not live up to the oath of office, but the slimy enablers who look the other way so he can get away with crime after crime against us and the Constitution.
We all ( and I'm sure the majority of them did too ) knew he was wrong, but I really did think it would be in not being up to the job. Well, he certainly is not, but even more wrong at his destruction of everything that is dear to patriots while lining his pockets and making sure others get enough to make it worth their while to keep shielding him as they all look the other way so they can bask in power. Sadly if the question was asked " Are you better off now than you were four yrs. ago ", far too many people who haven't bothered to actually confront their physical, mental, or monetary conditions would likely say yes. While their neighbors out of work beg for food and pray to stay well, while some worry about having a roof over their head. Now we all worry about having to go to the grocery store -- do they?? We have no true freedom and if we keep going this way we will have none at all.

White Supremacist Killed in Shootout with California Deputies
Posted: 26 Sep 2020 05:33 AM PDT
San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office news release: The Sheriff's Office is releasing new information in the officer involved shooting which occurred on 9-24-20 in Templeton. The suspect in that incident has been identified as 38-year-old Christopher Michael Straub of Templeton. Straub had a significant criminal history having been booked 28 times into jails all across California including two incarcerations in state prison. Straub was a known member of a white supremacist gang and a criminal investigation had already been initiated by the Sheriff's Gang Task Force when this incident occurred. Multiple weapons were discovered afterwards in Straub's vehicle including four assault rifles, one bolt action hunting rifle, one shotgun, two handguns plus the handgun he used to shoot at Deputies. After a search warrant was served on his residence, it was discovered he was illegally manufacturing parts for weapons. Straub was a wanted felon and it is illegal for felons to possess any weapons. The Deputy in this incident has been identified as 34-year-old Richard "Ted" Lehnhoff. He was wounded in the leg during a gun battle with the suspect in the Templeton cemetery. He was airlifted to a local hospital to receive medical attention. He underwent surgery on his leg last night. He is recovering and is in stable condition.0 -
Love the Bette Midler meme. She is really not a fan of his and I so love it.

Nominating and getting two conservative judges confirmed to the Supreme Court was exactly the reason why so many of us clamored, screamed, shouted from the rooftops to vote for Clinton last election because face it, we all knew this had a huge probability of happening. RBG knew it. Just as Obama sees Trump reversing so much of his legislation, RBG saw the writing on the wall and knew much of what she worked for, stood for, was in danger. And we tried warning people, but the were worried about goddamned email.

Yes those idiot emails that changed all of our lives and they were nothing. I think Comey dealt a real death blow along with it having to push himself front and center at a time when interference was crucial and should have been left for after the election.
I love the meme. I have thought of Trump as the me, myself and I person for the longest time. The greed of me-ness is what he was always about and in that way I find it ironic that I think he knows he is going to lose or easily might, and still those around him seem to do nothing but urge him on and he goes along. Truth is, I doubt by now he knows how to extricate himself from most of this anyhow. Hoping that those around him will find a way for him to stay on. He has and is deteriorating making it all the more harder, but possibly easier for him to 'act' like everything is just peachy keen. The same thing that tends to throw us all -- he can't even come close to seeing anything of the disgrace he has been from day 1. Besides, there is no disgrace on the golf course as he collects tax-payer money by the boat load to fill his pockets. Here's to his loss of this election along with the loss of anything and more gained from his four yrs. in office.

1 big thing: Dems feel boxed in
Photo: Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images
Democrats privately fear that going too hard on Judge Amy Coney Barrett in her confirmation hearings could wind up backfiring, if senators are perceived as being nasty to an accomplished woman.
- Yesterday afternoon, NBC posted video of Coney Barrett outside her house in South Bend, Ind., loading four of her seven children — two of the seven adopted from Haiti, and another with Down Syndrome — into her Honda Odyssey minivan, then driving them all to her Air Force ride to Washington.
- "Good luck, Democrats," a Republican tweeted.
Senate Democrats recognize the danger. A top Democratic strategist pointed to three pitfalls: "liberals mishandling this by boycotting or treating her with disrespect; [Sen. Dianne] Feinstein [top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee] screwing it up; someone looking like a religious bigot."
- "One more fear on Barrett: the adoption thing," the strategist added. "Gotta avoid that."
A top Senate Democratic aide said the party has a three-part plan for avoiding those traps: "Health care, health care, health care."
That's the Dem playbook:
- Focus attacks and questioning on Barrett's views on health care, including the ACA and reproductive rights.
- Argue that she'd help take away coverage and protection during a pandemic.
- Give the spotlight to Sen. Kamala Harris.
- Stick to issues, including labor rights.
Democrats also feel boxed in by the calendar and the realities of the Senate.
- Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham outlined four days of hearings beginning Oct. 12 — 16 days from nomination. (24 of the 42 Supreme Court justice who've had hearings were done within 16 days, Graham said.)
- Graham, talking to "Judge Jeanine" Pirro on Fox News, said he plans to send the nomination to the full Senate by Oct. 26. That means the vote will most likely be held the week before Election Day.
Democrats know there's little they can do to stop any of that:
- "We could slow it down — perhaps hours, maybe days at the most," Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, the second-ranking Democrat, said on ABC's "This Week."
- "But we can't stop the outcome."
I hope we can make a good accountting when we get up to having to deal with Barrett. I too think we are going to have to swallow the bile and see her seated on the bench. Still, I'd like to think we can come up with a way to possibly create enough of a stall ( maybe a day or two ) so that she ends up having to wait till the election is over.
I don't think Trump has done himself or the Reps. any favor. I heard the figure on tv yesterday that at least 63% of people do not think anyone should be put on the bench by the group now in power. That it should only happen after the election so that WE the people can participate. It is transparently evident that we the people have not been given one iota of input -- though we have made our voices known and once again been ignored. This as much as anything Drump has done is going to color VOTING. I think most voters have known for some time who they intend to vote for, but I think lots of those 63% of people are Reps. and they indeed may end up influencing others around them who weren't sure. I think it will be seen by so many for the power grab it is.
I also think that a lot of those on the other side know that there is little issue with mail-in voting. It has happened for years and years and every time questions have come up ( mainly with someone trying to use it as a way to negate votes ) it has been disproven that it engenders hanky-panky. It is just as honest as though who show up to vote in person.
As an aside, should Biden win, and it certainly seems at this point that there is a huge probability going on, I do think there will be a smooth transfer of power. No matter how upset Trump may be I just can't see him undergoing the further humiliations of having to be escorted out of the WH. It is well known that he is an extremely poor loser, crass and vindictive about all of it. I will say -- it is one time when we could be absolutely certain it is not fake news from the media. Getting hauled out of the WH would be hard to fake.

From The Intercept:
In order to win this presidential contest, liberals need to accept that Trump supporters do not care if he were to scrap millions of mail-in votes or to welcome, and even solicit, Russian interference for his cause. Not only do some Trump supporters understand that he is an autocrat who will cheat the rules to stay in power, that's precisely what they like about him. The left should understand that many Trump supporters inherently believe that they would fare better under a autocratic system of white supremacy than under a multiracial democracy.

You really have to wonder why everyone makes the below such a horrible issue. Not to make a long story out of it at this late date, but in my early childhood I was told something that make me start to feel a sense of disgust for hominy and asparagus. To this day, I don't eat either one and they are never even in my house. I though am thrilled that others enjoy these foods and I would never even think of trying to dissuade anyone from them.
So, what is so difficult about the concept of keeping one's nose out of other people's private decisions which they can go to hell for if that is what you believe and they don't. I realize vegetables and abortions are a very un-fair comparison on the one hand, but the idea is the same. I'm not the judge and jury of others who will answer so to speak for their actions and in some cases, inactions. Just refreshing to hear a good old-fashioned common sense approach.

NYT has gotten trump's tax returns! It is devastating to the orange one!:
Trump's Taxes Show Chronic Losses and Years of Income Tax Avoidance https://nyti.ms/3jmgeBf
Donald J. Trump paid $750 in federal income taxes the year he won the presidency. In his first year in the White House, he paid another $750.
He had paid no income taxes at all in 10 of the previous 15 years — largely because he reported losing much more money than he made.
As the president wages a re-election campaign that polls say he is in danger of losing, his finances are under stress, beset by losses and hundreds of millions of dollars in debt coming due that he has personally guaranteed. Also hanging over him is a decade-long audit battle with the Internal Revenue Service over the legitimacy of a $72.9 million tax refund that he claimed, and received, after declaring huge losses. An adverse ruling could cost him more than $100 million.
The tax returns that Mr. Trump has long fought to keep private tell a story fundamentally different from the one he has sold to the American public. His reports to the I.R.S. portray a businessman who takes in hundreds of millions of dollars a year yet racks up chronic losses that he aggressively employs to avoid paying taxes. Now, with his financial challenges mounting, the records show that he depends more and more on making money from businesses that put him in potential and often direct conflict of interest with his job as president.0 -

I think Donald Trump is going to be mad clear up and maybe far past this election. He knew this was coming but I'm sure he had hopes that he'd already be past the election and already ( no matter who won ) somehow re-instated as his " continuation ". Who can say at this point on a Sunday night just what is to come, but I think the drip, drip, drip is sure to affect a lot of people. One of the news people on MSNBC said that the Biden campaign was already making up signs about I paid more in taxes than Trump did.
David Corn, and I think James Carville said about the same thing -- the die-hard group will stick to Donald no matter what -- but watch out for those Independents. Lots of people have already voted ( record numbers ) but there are plenty that haven't. I have also heard that things are going to be tight -- meaning Trump can't afford to be losing people. He has lost a lot as of late. Lots of judgements going against him as well as just overall disagreement about the way he has conducted covid, the lies about economy, lies about sending Srs. money vouchers for medications and lies about a health care plan he does not have and that he is going to make sure you have a pre-existing condition waiver. Well. people already have that in ACA which he is going to have repealed as soon as he seats another SC judge.
While I know the arguments it almost seems to me daily that how much more can this person do to LOSE. Seems to me that he feels certain that he is going to survive all this and get re-installed so doesn't matter what he owns up to or says.
Of course the standard line is already out that all that we are hearing tonight is fake news. As was mentioned, if it is fake news he could fix that immediately. Just get out your taxes and prove its fake. Why put yourself and everyone else through all this. You have the proof, use it.
Lastly I keep thinking about mini-strokes -- he may be so mad that the major one of all time just may show up. I would not want to have to be at the White House in the next few days -- because this is not going to go away. Also as was said on the news -- this could be something at some point that will surely find its way out during the debates. The first one Tues. night -- maybe or maybe not. At some point these debates something will turn up for discussion. Makes me wonder how much Adderall Trump will need to get through his debate. Interesting times ahead.
